Serandy and Olifael part 3: Nari’s horrible return

"S-Serena-senpai..."

Nari was looking away, her cheeks flushed from embarrassment. No matter how many steps back she took, Serena kept on getting closer and closer until she slammed her hand on the wall, next to Nari’s ear.

”Kyah! S-senpai! What’s going on?? Why are you being so violent with me?”

From Serena’s point of view this wasn’t violence. This was love. Oh Nari... you and your unstoppable mouth. No matter how much someone would beg, Nari would never shut up. Serena was provoked by that, the fact that someone wouldn’t obey her orders. It was frustrating and yet so charming.

She leaned in and whispered into Nari’s ear.

"Nari-chan... you aren’t a gemini, are you?”

Nari was confused, that’s it? That’s all Serena wanted to ask? No scolding, no punishment like usual? She was disappointed. Nari loved getting yelled at by Serena.

”N-no. I’m not a gemini, I’m a scorpio Senpai. But what does that have to do with anyth-"

"Shut it.”

Serena passionately kissed Nari with her passionate lips, passionate love and passionate hate towards geminis. She was so relieved that Nari wasn’t one of them. Disgusting. That would be horrible.

"AAAH! NOOOO PLEASE GOD NO!"

Serena woke up covered in sweat. What the fuck was that?? Nari? What was she doing in Serena’s dream and why were they calling eachother like characters in a Japanese cartoon? Serena looked around her, it was her room. Thank God everything was just a dream and nothing else. Next to her, lying in bed was Andy who snuck in last night to sleep next to her girlfriend. Like all nights, actually. She was really worried for Serena’s mental state, not only today but in general.

"Serena...? *yawn* Are you okay sweetie?”

Serena hugged Andy, almost in tears.

"N-no! I saw her again in my dreams. That chatterbox monster, Nari! But this time we were high schoolers in a shitty anime... Why? Oh, why would this happen to me?? What did I do wrong for her to come back to haunt me?"

Andy hugged Serena back, trying to be as supportive as she could. This situation was really strange. For the past few days, Serena always saw Nari in her dreams. Nari was that 2nd year student in Arlington who went missing a few months ago. But in actuality... it was all a ploy orchestrated by Serena. Serena had pulled some strings to make some trouble happen in Egypt so that Nari would go back there for a couple of months. A couple of months that were extremely peaceful... Well, Trashy burned the building a couple of times but it was cool. Thanks to that some classes were canceled and Serena secretly thanked Trashy for her interventions.

The only people who knew about this were Serena and Andy, Serena knew that if she told Olivier what she did in order to get rid of Nari, he would get mad at her and rightfully so.

”Calm down Serena sssshhh. It’s going to be alright. Um... you know I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, but could it be that you have a guilty conscience? Maybe that’s why Nari appears in your dreams?”

Serena looked up at Andy, seriously taking in account what her girlfriend just told her. But no, that couldn’t be it. Serena? Feeling guilt for getting rid of Nari? Impossible. Nari was her arch-nemesis. It was absurd to think that after all these months Serena would suddenly start to feel guilty about her scheme.

”No... that can’t be it Andy. I would never feel bad for Nari. I think.”

”Aww come on, I know that you’re not as cold hearted as you pretend to be. Let’s just try to contact Nari, okay? Maybe you actually miss her a little bit.”

Did Serena miss Nari? Ridiculous but much more believable than feeling guilty.

"... Alright. Let’s do that."

Serena and Andy came down from the bed, they were changing into their school uniforms to get ready for class. That’s when someone barged in, looking extremely distraught. It was Rafael.

"Girls!!! Come quick! There’s 8 murde-"

Serena threw a pillow into Ralf’s face while Andy was covering herself with the blanket. Serena yelled at him in panic.

"What the hell Rafael? Can’t you knock first?? Turn around and explain yourself!”

Rafael turned around like instructed, facing the door. He was super gay for Olivier but he still covered his face with the pillow, just in case. He didn’t want Serena and Andy to feel uncomfortable.

"This is not important right now! There’s 8 murders in the Academy that ocurred this morning...”

Andy and Serena looked at eachother, horrified by the news. How was that possible? The security was so tight and the custodians always made rounds, even in the early mornings. Andy clenched her fists, still in disbelief.

”But... that’s impossible! One murder, sure. But 8 people have died?? There’s always guards in front of the entrance... and... and there’s at least one custodian on each floor to keep an eye on us!"

Rafael stood there, silent. Unable to explain the events. All he could say was...

”Oliver is waiting for us in the student council’s room. Come quick.”

There was no time to waste. Serena and Andy dashed out of their room and went out of the dormitory only to see a cruel scene unfold. A bunch of nurses were taking 8 people away into ambulance trucks. However, the 8 people were covered in white pieces of cloth. As if they were already dead. In the crowd, a blond girl with a pink flower in her braids was being retained by at least four people. They were trying to hold her still while she was screaming and shouting like a trapped animal.

"G-geez! How strong is this girl?! Someone call the remaining custodians to help us out! We can’t hold her forever!!!”

”Remaining custodians”? So, some of them had been killed as well? Or at least badly hurt. Andy and Serena tried to pass by the scene in a hurry but they couldn’t ignore the yells of the suffering young girl. Oh mother of god... It was the sweet and gentle Claire, trying to set herself free by punching and kicking.

"LET ME GO! I HAVE TO FOLLOW THEM AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE OKAY!!! DON’T HOLD ME BACK!!! THIS CAN’T BE. THEY’RE NOT DEAD!!! THEY’RE NOT DEAD, OKAY?! STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE I’M CRAZY!!! I... I...”

Suddenly all of her strength left her body and she fell down on her knees, seeing that she finally calmed down the 4 students that were holding her let go of their grip. Claire buried her face into her hands, crying.

"N-No... they’re not d-dead... the doctors will bring them back with a b-blood transfusion and... and... CPR will definitely work... if, if not then there’s also a defibrillator... it’ll work haha... ah... ah... ahh..."

She started hyperventilating, her eyes were bloodshot and her hair and clothes were all messy. She then covered her mouth, trying to stop what was coming, in vain.

”BLRGH.”

She threw up on the ground, still hyperventilating in between each spew. Because of that she was almost unable of breathing. Two custodians ran to her, scared of her reaction. What if she chokes up and dies because of her own vomit?

"P-please! Young miss calm down! Breath in... and out... in... and out... yes, slowly.”

Thank god her breathing became stable again, she could’ve lost consciousness from the lack of oxygen. After emptying up her stomach she started crying in the custodian’s arms.

"T-those people w-were my friends... *hic* R-raquel was right next to me... *hic* how did I fail to do anything?! ...U-useless! I’M USELESS. W-when it comes down to real danger... I’m unable to do a-anything. I couldn’t save anyone... I’ve never saved anyone! Not a single person!”

Andy didn’t even realize that she was crying at the heartbreaking scene until Serena covered her eyes and pulled her away from the crowd.

"Andy, don’t look...”

It was meaningless, Andy was unable to see anything anyway. Her eyes were filled up with tears, distorting her vision. However there was one thing she knew. Even though Serena was trying to hide it and act though, she was crying too.

In front of the student council’s room, they dried up their tears and snot with their sleeves, no time to find handkerchiefs. And they stepped in. Four people were in the room, Olivier shouting at Trashy, Trashy looking scared out of her mind but doing her best to deny whatever Olivier was stating, Rafael trying to calm Olivier down and... Tadashi, sat on one of the chairs. Looking down, emotionless. It’s as if all trace of life had left his body.

Serena tried to ignore that for now and put her hand on Olivier’s shoulder, he turned away from Trashy and looked at Serena, annoyed and angry.

"Ugh. You’re finally here?! What took you so lo-"

Before he could finish, Serena slapped the shit out of him, knowing that he wouldn’t calm down anytime soon if this went on.

"Calm down! I can see that Tadashi isn’t capable of handling anything right now so you should try to stay calm and take over as the student council president! It won’t help if you lose yourself like this...”

She then looked at Rafael, who was frozen in panic.

"Ralf, next time something like this happens just hit the shit outta him without hesitation. Got it?”

”Y-yes, sorry. I’ll do so.”

Olivier looked at his reflexion in the window and sighed a few times. He still wore that stupid cat mask. Then with a clear mind, he went back to business.

"Trashy. Please be honest with me. You’re the one who committed those murders, aren’t you?”

Trashy was shaking, teary eyed and visibly afraid by not only Olivier but also the stressful situation she was in.

"N-no! I’m telling you I would never kill people in cold blood! I only do harmless pranks...”

Olivier clenched his jaw. ”Harmless pranks” she says. He opened a folder and took out a document from it.

"Trashy. So far you have committed: arson, fraud, larceny and forgery. So tell me what could POSSIBLY lead me to believe that you aren’t the culprit behind this... this... inhumane incident?”

Trashy stood up, slamming her hand unto the table.

”I’m telling you: I’m innocent! I would never kill E-Ellie, Alistair or any other person of this school!"

At those words, Tadashi who was silent this whole time started sobbing and holding his arms, as if he was hugging himself.

”N-no... Ellie... Alistair... Raquel... *sob* Please c-come back. I-I’m scared... *hic* I-I’ll be good so p-please don’t abandon me *hic* A-Axel I-I won’t give you detention ever again... and... and I-I’ll help you guys with your homework... *hic*"

Rafael, Serena and Andy rushed in to hug him, seeing that he was in despair. Olivier sighed and glared at Trashy.

"I told you not to mention their names. He gets like that whenever he hears it.”

”I’m so sorry...”

Trashy looked extremely apologetic. As Serena was holding Tadashi in her arms, she shot a quick side-glance towards Trashy, it’s true that she was very chaotic but... logic aside, proof aside, was Trashy really capable of doing such things? Serena wanted to believe in her so badly but it is true that she was quite suspicious. As she was asking herself hundreds of questions, two people barged in.

"Excuse us.”

A weird man dressed in all black, carrying a katana and... a normal woman were standing before them. Olivier walked towards them, as if he knew who they were.

”Are you... who I think you are?”

The man and woman smiled at eachother.

”That’s right, I’m Nadir. The detective.”

”And I’m Gen, the coroner. Nice to meet you.”

Nadir had a Maryland accent... whatever that was supposed to mean. He didn’t look like a detective at all though, why was he carrying a katana? And why was there a coroner with him? All the dead bodies were brought to the hospital already. Well, they might get resurrected somehow. It’s not like hope was completely lost. Or at least Andy hoped so.

”Um. Excuse me uh. Gen? I don’t understand why you’re here and not at the hospital, I mean your job is to check wounds and find the cause of death, right?”

Gen smiled innocently.

”Oh I’ve already done my job, it was all stab wounds from a kitchen knife. Now I’m here in any case we find other dead bodies or if someone else dies.”

”Uh... okay.”

Tadashi suddenly stopped crying, awakened from his miserable state by Gen’s comment.

"DON’T SAY THAT! How... How DARE you just call them ”dead bodies”?! They were my friends! And... and they might be saved!!!”

Gen looked at him with sorrow in her eyes. As if it was too late. Thankfully Tadashi was so angry that he didn’t notice that. She had a look that said ”it’s hopeless kid.” Serena tried to change the subject, knowing that Tadashi would blow up like Claire if he knew that they were already dead.

”Soooo... Anyway, who are the people that got hurt?”

Olivier gave her the list with the names of all the victims, knowing that if he said their names aloud, Tadashi would lose it again. As expected, all of Tadashi’s and Claire’s friends were on it. Neha Rao, Tyler Williams, the Novakova siblings and so on and so forth. They were all so close and yet the only people left were Tadashi and Claire... but why did only those 2 survive?

”You’re all thinking ”why did those 2 survive”, aren’t you?”

Nadir smirked at them with a know-it-all epxression that everyone hated. It seems like he had already made some research before coming.

”Well, we’re thinking that it must be because... either one of those 2 is the culprit or... the person who attacked their friends didn’t manage to finish their job and he’s after them.”

Everyone was frightened by the thought... Claire, where was she? Hopefully she wasn’t left alone, however, just in case they should go find her and stay by her side. What if the culprit took advantage of her mental state to strike? The only person in the room who didn’t think about that possibility was Tadashi, he was too blinded by anger and fright.

”You’re saying that either me or Claire could be the culprits? That’s total BULLSHIT! We would never even THINK about doing something like this! How could I... How could I ever do something like this to my best friend and boyfriend?!!”

That’s right, Tadashi’s best friend: Alistair. And his boyfriend... Axel. A really weird couple indeed, they hated eachother’s guts until really recently so why did they suddenly start dating? It was a complete mystery. It all started on april fool’s so everyone just assumed that they would end the joke pretty soon... 3 weeks later and the joke still wasn’t over.

Gen raised her voice, desperately trying to stop him from punching them in the face.

”Please calm down kid! We’re only stating the possibilities! Not saying that they’re true... but while it might not be you nor your friend, there is a high chance that the kill- um, culprit is a student. Even though some custodians were... hurt, no guards were harmed.”

Nadir nodded, strongly agreeing with his colleague’s words.

”That’s right. But first let’s go find that Claire girl, she might be in great danger at this rate. Do you know where she is?”

Tadashi shook his head, having no idea where the only friend he had left was. Luckily, Andy and Serena knew where she might be. They all ran to the nurse’s office, thinking that they would find an unconscious Claire who had probably collapsed from shock and stress. But she wasn’t there. Only the nurse remained, saying that Claire wanted to rest in her room. Serena grabbed the nurse by the shoulders and shook him violently.

”Are you kidding?! How could you let her alone in a situation like this?! Are you not aware of what’s happening right now?! And besides... isn’t Claire’s room... tainted in blood right now?!!”

The nurse pushed Serena away, slightly upset by her outburst.

”Who do you think we are? The room had been investigated and cleaned the moment the body was discovered. Also, she wasn’t alone. There was another student with her who promised me to follow her no matter where she went.”

Serena’s eyes widened. Oh god. Oh no. What if this student is the killer?! Catching on what she was thinking, Nadir grabbed the nurse by his shoulders and shook him just like Serena did earlier.

”Who was it?! Who was that student?”

”Ugh. Could you all stop grabbing and shaking me?! I don’t know what her name was but it was a girl with really messy hair. To the point where I would guess that she doesn’t even own a hairbrush.”

They all started running towards the dormitory while the nurse was cursing them under his breath. On their way there, they saw two students in the courtyard, on the ground. One covered in blood and the other one holding her in her arms while crying. It was Reckless and AJ.

”AJ!! Please wake up! Come on you gotta live... You still haven’t paid me for the tarot reading I did for you the other day!!”

AJ was still half-conscious, holding on to dear life.

”God... shut the fuck up...”

”No, don’t say that AJ!! What if those are your last words?! You can’t let your last words be something so vulgar! What am I gonna say to your parents...”

”I don’t... give a shit...”

Gen pushed Reckless away, looking closely at the young girl’s wounds all over her stomach. Reckless wiped a tear away, relieved.

”Oh thank God, thank you doctor! Please save my cash-cow- I mean... my dear classmate!”

Gen then immediately got up, wiping her bloody hands on her jeans.

”Oh no kid, I’m not a doctor, I’m a coroner. All I can say is that she has most likely 5 minutes left to live or so. Sorry but to be saved, she would need to be a billionaire or something. Y’know how it is in America.”

Reckless started crying again.

”God I fucking hate capitalism. Can we all just die from a nuclear bomb, please? Someone nuke us, anyone. Even North Korea is fine...”

Andy took out her phone, calling the ambulance in a hurry. Serena had never seen her girlfriend look so livid.

”Are you all crazy?! We should at least call the ambulance in situations like these! Reckless, why didn’t you call 911 sooner?!”

Reckless kneeled in front of AJ, looking apologetic while still bawling her eyes out.

”You’re right Andy... I’m so sorry AJ, if only I wasn’t a dumbass... Come on, don’t lose consciousness! Or at least tell me your blood type before you do! Maybe we can still save you...”

”B... positive...”

”*sniff* I’m trying AJ but you’re losing a lot of blood...”

”That’s not... *cough* what I meant... you fucking dumbass *cough*"

This all looked like a comedy skit to be honest. AJ’s blood type wasn’t even B, it was O. Was she so out of it that she made a mistake? Serena went through 8 stages of whiplash before the ambulance finally showed their asses on the murder scene. Unfortunately, AJ hadn’t seen her attacker and same thing for Reckless. In any case it was useless to stay there, the group rushed back to the dorms like they were supposed to a long time ago before they found AJ dying. Hopefully Claire was still okay... It was like running a marathon. Arlington was way too big than it needed to be.

RFA with a Mc who’s father isn’t her real father but a Gangster who helped her out when a family member was in danger.

Okay so I came up with this crazy idea while watching ,,Remember’’ it’s an amazing Kdrama I came to like a lot. There’s also another Kdrama with a gangster who helped out a young boy after his mother died named Lawless Lawyer and I also enjoyed this one!

But remember is about a lawyer who is kind of related to a gangster who helped him out after his dad died and the lawyer helps out a high schooler after the high schooler’s father gets imprisoned wrongly. And even through he doesn’t make things rightfully, he helps them out and I’m sooooooo in love with these kind of stories!

So, here we are!

PS. The Story had a totally turn after Ep. 2 and I became an emotional idiot till now ( I’m at Ep. 19, one more then!) 

Jumin

,,I hope you won’t be shocked…’’ you chuckled as you and Jumin sat down together at the dinner table, waiting for your dads.

,,I’m sure I will come to like your dad a lot,’’ Jumin nodded, taking your hand in his hand.

Shortly afterwards, Jumin’s dad entered the room, greeting you and his son.

Only your father was missing.

The mood was pretty good, but of course the Hans noticed that your dad was late. Something that gave them a bad impression, even though they didn’t want to think like that.

The door suddenly opened and a man in a fancy purple suit entered the room, the sunglasses still on his nose as he loosened his yellow cravat.

,,Oh, sorry I’m late, but once again I have nice timing, right, Mc?’’ he asked you, smiling brightly.

You nodded with a smile on your face.

Jumin got up and bowed in front of the man who apparently was your dad.

,,Oh, so you fell in love with this man? Aigo, your parents would be proud of you for having such a nice man. Oi Jumin, right? Take good care of Mc after everything I’ve done!’’ he laughed, shaking also hands with Chairman Han.

Jumin was puzzled, so, who was he?

,,Oh, you didn’t tell him?’’ the man asked you, noticing Jumin’s face.

,,Ah, you’re practically my dad so…’’ you mumbled, blushing a bit because of the mistake.

,,So, this is actually the lawyer I had when I was a high schooler and my mom was charged in a hit and run accident. She was sent to prison and I begged him to help us. Even though he declined, he did it in the end, taking good care of me while my mom wasn’t there,’’ you explained.

,,Aigo, I didn’t take care of you. I just paid your expenses, helped your mother out, and didn’t take money, and paid your scholarships. Let’s see how much your wedding will cost,’’ he laughed, smiling at Jumin.

Jumin was happy to get to know the man who helped you in the past through despair, even though he was a gangster and a lawyer, Jumin knew that whenever he wouldn’t be able to help you, which would be impossible, this man would be able.

Zen

The both of you were enjoying your date when some men in black suits stood in front of the both of you.

Zen knew that these men were dangerous and so he instinctively stood in front of you, pushing you back with his hand.

He glared at the men, ready to save you with every method he could use.

Suddenly, the man bowed and yelled ,,HELLO, MISTRESS’’

Zen was surprised and looked back at you.

You chuckled as you greeted everyone.

,,Ai, so cute of your boyfriend!’’ someone clapped.

,,Oh, Lawyer-ssi,’’ you greeted him, hugging him suddenly.

,,Are you well, MC?’’ the man asked you, looking then at Zen.

,,Oi, nice going. I can trust you with her, huh?’’ he asked him.

Zen scanned the man, his suit looked fancy. Even his Rolex was still shining.

The RayBan sunglasses he was wearing looked good on him too, but who was he?

,,Zenny, that was the lawyer of my dad. I kind of see him as my Dad too after he took good care of me,’’ you smiled.

Zen gave his greetings to the man. He was just as respectable as your real father.

,,Ah! Zen! Yo, guys! This is the man who took our little Mc away from the court!’’ he called, making Zen shiver for a moment.

,,I wasn’t in court. I was something like an undercover helper of him, haha!’’ you laughed, apparently thinking back to that time.

,,Okay. I hope you feed her, because even though she doesn’t seem like it, this girl can dig in a lot!’’ the man mumbled and kissed your cheek, passing by, followed by the men.

Zen shyly smiled at you.

And once again he got to know more about you.

Yoosung

,,Are you sure?’’ Yoosung one day asked you after you invited your and his parents over to eat dinner together.

,,Yes of course! The best is, that they all work for the government!’’ you laughed, making Yoosung wonder if your parents were also teachers.

Soon enough, however, he found out that your father was related to gangs and also a lawyer and that your mother was his assistant.

Yoosung, being the old scary cat, couldn’t even look into his eyes.

,,Don’t be like that!’’ you pushed him slightly.

,,Sorry…’’ he mumbled and looked over to the cheerful man, laughing with his family as if they knew each other for ages.

,,So dear, tell me how you met each other!’’ your mother asked you, looking back and forth to you.

,,Don’t tell me that you met somewhere dangerous…!’’ your father warned.

,,Ai, don’t say that! I was somehow imprisoned and he saved me…’’ he mumbled, making your mother open her mouth widely in disbelief.

,,WHAT?!’’ he asked you again.

You told him the whole story as he wrote down everything.

,,Aigo, I will catch them!’’ he hissed.

,,Luckily, your dad was protecting you from heaven!’’ he then added.

Yoosung puzzled looked at him, not understanding what he meant with his words.

However you quickly made sure to tell him what you meant.

,,He protected me and my mom while my older brother was accused wrongly. He took good care of us,’’ you explained.

Yoosung realized that he was an important person in your life and finally saw him with different eyes.

Jaehee

,,I’m so excited to finally meet him,’’ Jaehee honestly told you.

The day finally came where she could meet the man you called your father.

The man who helped you out in the past when you were all alone and in despair.

Over and over again, she liked to listen to the story of how you begged him on your knees to help you and he finally did.

How he did kind of dirty work just to get your father out of prison.

He then took good care of your health and paid for your expenses.

,,When my real father then died, he took me by my hand and swore to help me. Since then, he is my father,’’ you said, thinking about the day when no one came to your real father’s funeral.

But he and his gang came, paid for everything, and even brought flowers.

Jaehee patted your back, smiling happily at you.

,,That’s so nice,’’ she nodded.

When the both of you finally came, all the men in suits greeted you, letting you in immediately.

Jaehee observed the big house. White really fit in.

The garden was big and the living room looked like the room of a royal.

,,Hello, father!’’ you greeted him, smiling brightly as he took off his expensive glasses.

,,Hello, Mc. Thank you for coming all the way to me. That must be the girl you talked about, right? Jaehee Kang? Nice to meet you. Thank you for taking care of her,’’ he said, smiling nicely.

You blushed somehow at his words.

,,Actually, father, this is my girlfriend, Jaehee Kang. She’s not just a friend,’’ you confessed, taking Jaehee’s hand.

The man suddenly looked serious, nodding at your confession, but making Jaehee shiver for a short moment.

,,Oh, so we need two long wedding dresses…? That’s okay, my dear. I will take care of everything,’’ he nodded, smiling again, making both of you laugh very loudly and happily.

Saeyoung

You didn’t recognize Saeyoung anymore.

He looked like a little boy who was forced to do homework on a Saturday.

,,I don’t get it. Why are you so scared?’’ you asked him.

Your fiancé looked at you.

,,Because my twin brother first imprisoned you in an apartment with a bomb, I acted like an ass while I lived with you, and then put you in danger myself. You saw how Jihyun died and had to see Saeran in bad shape,’’ Saeyoung whined.

,,Well, at least you know that you did something wrong,’’ the both of you suddenly heard, making Saeyoung shiver again.

It was the head of the gang, the man who raised you after your family died, and got falsely accused.

He was the one who freed you and your family from all the lies and then took you in.

,,He-llo…’’ Saeyoung mumbled, cursing himself in his mind.

The man in the yellow suit sat down in front of you and nodded.

,,So, Saeyoung Choi, your father is a very strong person, huh? I’m amazed how you overcame those hardships,’’ he nodded.

,,I often have to work against these kind of people, so I guess you have a potential thread too, huh? Who helped you during that time?’’ he asked Saeyoung, making you roll your eyes.

You’d already told him the whole story.

Saeyoung explained that he was a hacker and that Jumin also helped him out, but that the matter of his father was still ongoing.

,,Oh, you just saved your twin brother...I understand. Then, let’s work together to put your father in jail. I can’t let you have this beloved girl. I saved her after all. When was the last time you were surprised, in a pleasant way? Wednesday when Bea had food delivered to my house. One of our clients was hosting a roundtable session and our task was to order food to be delivered to the attendees’ house, and it turns out she snuck in an order for me as well. 

It was super touching and I tried to do a nice deed yesterday by getting food for her as well; but as I mentioned on my previous survey, I got paired with a scammer delivery guy instead who ended up stealing my order...that I already paid for... :( It was such a flop and I ended up having to give away the surprise to Bea since I had to check if she received it, and that’s when I learned she never got anything. I’ll try again next week or whenever I get my money refunded, hahaha.

Is there a compliment you've received, that sticks in your mind? I like it whenever I’m told I write well, since that’s my main talent and it’s always nice to be complimented on my skills.

Do you own any items of clothing that you haven't yet worn? Yup. I got a yellow romper from one of my aunts for Christmas, but I haven’t had the chance to wear it yet. It’s short and airy, so I’ll probably pull it out once the climate gets warmer again.

Were you awake before 8am today? Yeah, I got up at 4:30 earlier even though I fell asleep at like midnight. I think my body understands that my brain wants me to get as little sleep as possible during weekends so I can maximize my free time, so it woke me up by then.

Is there any food in your house at the moment, that you're looking forward to eating? I still have some of the chicken wings that Bea ordered for me. She got such a huge order and it’s taking me forever to finish the damn box of wings lol.

Is there anyone you know who dislikes the Internet, technology etc.? My grandma refuses to learn how to use a phone or laptop. Which confuses me because usually she’ll ask my mom to relay a message to one of her friends who are on Facebook, and my mom ends up playing messenger. Like pls just get at least a Facebook account if you want to keep keeping in touch with your acquaintances anyway :(((

Was there anything that you planned to do today, but didn't? It’s only 7:06 AM so I’ll refer to my plans yesterday instead – I wanted to continue working on a Google Slides presentation by nighttime, but I was so tired from my shift yesterday and even got a migraine that I never got around to it. I’ll have to work on it this weekend instead.

Is there anyone you interact with often on social media but not in person? I mean, hasn’t this been the case over the last year with the pandemic? I communicate mainly through social media now, if not through IM apps like Viber.

What color box does your favorite cereal come in? Don’t really like cereal. The closest thing I have to a ‘favorite,’ Cookie Crisps, comes in a white box, though.

Do you have any plates, dishes, mugs etc. with pretty illustrations on them? Nah, don’t really like printed stuff. Angela had a customized Friends-themed mug made for me but I wouldn’t call it an ~illustration, since the main design is just my name styled in the Friends logo.

Does anywhere on your body currently hurt, or feel sore? I actually took a break from this survey to take Cooper for a walk, and I think I can confirm that I definitely have some kind of allergy to grass. My legs were super irritated the whole time and my skin has since turned reddish.

Is there any advice you have been given, that sticks in your mind? “Let your healing take time,” from Andi. He also accompanied it the advice with an anecdote about this basketball player who insisted on playing even while he was still dealing with an injury, and playing only aggravated that injury so he was forced to sit out for an even longer time than what was initially set for him. That was really helpful and I keep it close to me to this day.

What's the nicest advice you have ever been given about love/relationships? Know when it’s enough and when to leave, and be kind to yourself.

Do you own any adult coloring books? What kind(s) do you like? Yeah, I have like three thick ones. I just haven’t gotten the chance to touch them because for the meantime I only have cheap coloring pencils that start to get dull after a few strokes. I’ve yet to buy a more premium set of pencils.

I tried to get into Grey’s Anatomy or Glee on Netflix, because they were “popular”, but I tried a few episodes, and just couldn’t seem to get into them. < OMG same again, especially with Grey’s??? I tried watching it a couple of weeks ago but I noped out as soon as I heard how poppish the theme song was. I’ve always thought it was a serious drama show but it turned out to have so many teen show elements to it that I was definitely taken aback. The script and some of the acting also kind of sucked, so that was a letdown.

Is there anything you haven't done lately, that you'd like to do soon? Coloring.

Do you own any T-shirts with brand logos on them? Yes, my dad got me a Vegemite shirt from his last contract abroad hahah. He was staying in Australia and I asked him to get a jar of Vegemite so I can finally have a taste, but I think he was scared that I’d hate it and end up throwing out the whole jar so he just got me a shirt instead lol. I’ve also got a Nike shirt somewhere in my closet.

Have you experienced any kind of food cravings lately? Surprisingly not. I’ve been longing to eat at La Creperie again but I’m not craving for anything particular.

Have you watched or read the news today? I watch the news every weeknight since we have it on during dinner.

You knew your doorbell was going to ring anytime soon, and you were already formulating a plan to kick Zabdiel out before he saw Joel or vice versa.

But the time passed by all too quickly, and only ten minutes later, your doorbell rang and your heart stopped short. Joel frowned and turned towards the door. "Who's that? Did we order more food? I thought everything was here..."

You plastered on a nervous smile, wriggling out from his arms and hopping over the back of the couch. "Nah, probably my neighbour asking me where her cat went again. Crazy, haha," you lied, almost breathless from how nervous you were. You could tell Joel didn't really believe you but he let it go, nodding unsurely and facing the screen again to continue the movie.

You scampered over to the door, yanking it open and coming face to face with your friend. Before he had a chance to say anything, you pushed him out, barreling out the door with him and shutting the door behind you.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" you hissed, causing the cheeky grin from his face to be slapped away. He narrowed his eyes at you, staring at frosted window on your door as if he could see what was going on inside.

"Are you actually busy?" He asked gruffily without answering your question. You scoffed in disbelief when he said that.

"Yes," you replied. "And I can't do anything right now." You breathed in deeply, screwing your eyes shut and rubbing your temples. Zabdiel frowned, and before you could stop him, he hopped over to your window. Which you had left wide open and void of curtains.

He peeped in, moving around to see the inside of your house, and you hurried after him to block his vision. But he had seen Joel at that point, and he whipped his head round to face you.

He was clearly confused, but you could see him jumping to all sorts of conclusions in his mind. "Joel? What's he doing there?" He demanded. You opened you mouth to respond to him, but he cut you off before you could say anything. "Are you guys on a date? Is that why you can't hang out with me?"

"Hang out? We both know you just wanted to come over so I could suck you dick," you spat harshly, voice still low to make sure Joel couldn't hear from the inside.

Zabdiel's jaw clenched and he widened his eyes at you. "Are you seeing him?"

You swallowed as you stared at him defiantly. "You don't control my life," you hissed, totally avoiding his question. Truth be told, you didn't know if you could even tell him the truth. You knew he might feel betrayed if you told him you'd been sneaking around with his best friend. Worse, he might feel bad towards Joel. 

Zabdiel stared you down and you recoiled back slowly, and it shocked you to actually see him so mad. "You like him," he said shortly. It wasn't a question; it was a statement. And you realised your dodgy answers had basically just confirmed it for him. You couldn't deny anything further. 

"So what if i do?" you asked, voice going slightly higher as you became more nervous. He scoffed incredulously, mirroring your actions of folding his arms. He brought his gaze away from you, and glared angrily at your window, which you knew was just indirectly aimed at Joel even though they couldn't see each other. 

"Oh come on? You aren't jealous that I might be sleeping with him too, are you? But no, I am not sleeping with him. Joel is actually really nice," you told him, ending off your sentence with a huff. But just like that, a lightbulb went off in your head. Suddenly all the times he chose to go slow and intimate in bed, all the lunch and dinner dates he liked inviting you to, all the possessiveness and short answers he gave you whenever you talked about another guy made sense. He was jealous, alright, but not for the reason you thought. 

"You like me," you concluded, pretty much in disbelief yourself. He avoided your eyes, keeping them trained on your open window, which only meant confirmation for you that you were right. 

You took a deep breath, closing your eyes for a second. "I'm sorry, Zab, but we need to break this off. I really like Joel and I don't want to ruin anything with him," you told him sombrely. "We'll talk about this another day. I have a date."

The girls are all in the Fauchevelent House to celebrate Cosette’s hen night. Just like her fiance, she wanted a casual night in with her girlfriends to gossip and relax. It has been a whirlwind month to prepare for her wedding, and Cosette didn't feel like going out for drinking and dancing. So mani-pedis and makeovers it is.

“You know, it's one night away from Marius, right?” Azelma observes as she applies the last coat of sapphire blue nail polish on Cosette’s left pinkie.

The engaged woman laughs as she continues reading from her phone. “He’s texting details of his stag night. Apparently Theodule got into an accident! Nothing permanent, he says.”

“Aww, poor guy! Not!” Azelma replies as Éponine cackles in glee from her perch beside her best friend.

“Oh dear, was my Bossuet involved?” Musichetta sighs, half-exasperated, half-resigned. She inspects her handiwork on the vanity mirror as she ties Cosette’s elaborate braid.

“No, but Enjolras is, apparently!”

Éponine snorts as she texts Grantaire for information. “What, did that jerk pull a muscle trying to get a word in edgewise while Enjolras started ranting about the death of democracy and liberty?”

Cosette scrolls back to quote Marius’ text, “ ‘Enjolras hit him with a cue ball while playing pool. Not quite sure it wasn't intentional, question mark.’” She sets down her phone so Azelma motions for her right hand. “He also mentioned something about his cousin being an embarrassment earlier and deserving a punch in the groin.”

“All R says is a bunch of crying/laughing emojis about it,” Éponine shrugs as she pockets her phone. She wiggles her toes, still on a pair of separators, and wishes she had splurged on those fancier, quick-drying nail polish. “Anyway, enough about the boys! It’s supposed to be Cosette’s day!”

“Like we don’t see each other every week, or more, in your case, Éppie!”

“Yes, but next week, you’ll be a married woman, after all,” she nods as she drapes Cosette’s blanket as a makeshift veil, making the woman laugh.

“Oh, and you’ll forget your single friends, and will be too busy doing wife-y things!” Musichetta pipes in. “Look at Lottie, she rarely has time to meet up after she got married last year.”

“What the heck are ‘wife-y’ things? And it’s not like I’m her! We don’t plan on having children immediately, after all.”

“Haha, we kid, of course!” Azelma winks, making the three other girls groan at the pun.

“So speaking of children, when are you guys planning to have them?” Musichetta asks.

“Definitely not soon. When Marius is done with law school and the bar, and maybe a few more years after that, then we’ll think of having babies,” Cosette says with a dreamy smile.

“Oh good, I still have a few years before I have to go be the crazy spinster aunt with the dozen cats!” Éponine exclaims.

“Yeah right, I’m sure Enjolras would loooove to remedy that ‘spinster’ part. The crazy though, well…” Azelma trails off, sticking her tongue out at her older sister.

“Oooh, ‘Zelma has gossip!”

“You heard the bride, Éppie!” Musichetta nudged her friend.

“Not to mention YOU didn’t come home until past 2 AM last week!” Azelma continues.

“CHETTA! We just TALKED! God, Azelma, shut up, and let me tell the whole story before you have us eloping to Scotland or something,” Éponine says as she throws a pillow at her sister's direction.

Cosette blinks at Éponine at the end of her narration, filled with interjections from Azelma. “Wow. I missed a lot of things because of wedding stuff, huh?”

Musichetta has an eyebrow raised as she regards their friend. “So let me get this straight. You guys were friendly, even flirting.”

Éponine blushes as she protests, “We weren’t flirting!”

“Yes, you were!” Azelma and Cosette chime in.

“Geez, fine! So, okay, we were kinda flirting a little until our fight.”

“A fight that you instigated because Enjolras mentioned that you broke up with him,” Chetta points out.

“... What’s your point?”

“Why’d you get so angry? And don’t blame the nosy old lady!”

Éponine averts her gaze and stares out Cosette’s window. “Because. Enjolras, he–he had to bring up ancient history!”

“Is it really ancient history, Éppie?” Cosette gently asks.

She frowns as she considers the question. “Okay, maybe not ancient history. It’s just seeing him after so many years is making me wish…”

“Yes?” the three girls chorus.

“Nothing. Forget it. Maybe I’m just getting swept up with all the romance with the wedding and all,” Éponine says, shaking her head.

“But at least know it’s not just you. Enjolras said so himself,” Musichetta points out.

“Chetta, he’s leaving town again for law school in a week or so. It doesn’t matter.”

“Like it’s still that big a deal to have a long distance relationship. Technology is great after all!” Azelma counters.

“Yeah, there’s like a million apps for chatting and video calls and whatever you guys wanna do to keep in touch everyday,” says Musichetta.

“And what’s a year anyway? He’ll be back for Christmas, and before you know it, he’ll graduate and be back for good!”

Éponine sighs, suddenly as heartsick as she was days ago. What a tempting picture her friends paint. If only it were that easy. But still. Wouldn’t it be worth it? Wouldn’t he be worth it? “Guys, can we just drop it? I’m tired of talking about this.”

Cosette, who has been quietly absorbing what her best friend has been saying (and the things she hasn’t allowed herself to say), intervenes calmly. “Okay, we’re dropping it. We,” she pauses to look meaningfully at Azelma and Musichetta, who begrudgingly agree, “won’t push you anymore. But, Éppie, just remember, you guys are our friends and we love you both. We just want you to be happy. Just… Just think about what you really want and I hope you have the courage to go for it. And be fair.”

To whom, Cosette doesn’t have to say. Éponine sighs, then nods.

“Alright, enough melodrama! We still need to figure our Cosette’s makeup for her big day!”

ELISHA DIDN’T HAVE THE FAINTEST IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON.

She vaguely remembered Thomas saying something about how, “they were going to limit their electronic use,” on their getaway (after she had witnessed him putting a game into his backpack!) but wasn’t really sure to what extent “no electronics” was put to use. So Thomas and his friends could possibly be chased by gnomes or attacked by a horde of imps, and she’d have absolutely no idea whatsoever.

She was invited to come on their trip, of course; her fiance wouldn’t ever have been so rude as to not, but she had politely declined. It was for the best, she supposed; while she was comfortable with Thomas’ group of college friends, this particular get-together was drawn on the lines of a reunion. She would have felt awkward and intrusive to accept his invitation.

And it wasn’t like she didn’t have anything to do, really! It’s just, well, August was an awfully boring month. And she would have called up her girlfriends to hang out, but Lilah was in Paris with her family, Jessica was also travelling, and Caren had to study for their M-CAT exam….

That was how Elisha found herself walking to the post office.

She could very well just request her post electronically, but she convinced herself it would be worth her while to get out of the house and stretch her legs a bit, take a stroll through town…

When she reached the small building, she came to the realization that she had never actually been inside before. Was there even anything inside besides the robots that did the transportation and packaging?

No time for doubts now. She was already here.

Hesitantly, she grabbed the brass door handle (how obsolete!) and walked inside the tiny building. She was immediately questioned by a small robot if she would like anything to be sent or wrapped. She declined.

Declining was something she was doing a lot of these days.

Observing her surroundings proved her wrong about the office. She found it to be more.. modern than expected. With its busy robots and elves at work in the office gave it a welcoming, workshop- like feel. She walked tentatively to wait in the line for her mail, marked by a small, rusty sign indicating where it was.

There was one other person in line, who had glanced at her when she walked in. She gave them a tentative smile before standing in line behind them.

But damnit. She felt awkward now. And why did they keep glancing back and staring at her? Did she have something on her face??

To break the ice (and stop the weird staring) she stuck her hand out and offered it to the waiting person. They stared at her hand as if they had never seen one before.

“Hi! I’m Elisha Mckenzie!”

Why did she say her full name, that was the stupidest thing she could’ve done, for all she knew this person could be a cultist-

“Ohh. Are you Thomas’ fiance?” Her cheeks flushed immediately when she realized the creepiness of her inquiry.

Elisha’s instincts were screaming. She was teetering between saying the more polite, How on earth do you know my name and my fiance? Or the blunt, What the actual fuck? None of these questions actually exited her mouth. Instead she said something along the lines of, “How- what- are-’

“Okay, look,” The girl hurriedly went on to explain her strange accusation, and Elisha didn’t care if she was interrupted, as long as she could hear her. “I’m friends- well, sort of friends, I mean- I knew Thomas from college, you know demonology? Anyway, I’mnotstalkingyouIpromise, just you know, Tyrone hangs out with me on date night and so I kinda know you? Indirectly, though?” There was a faint tinge of red on her cheeks from her bubbly explanation.

“Oh. Tyrone. That explains a lot. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. What’s your name?”

“I’m Elisabeth. Elisabeth Adams,” the girl said. Her hand flew up. Elisha thought that she would offer to shake it, but instead, her hand held a card.

“My card. In case you need something to be exorcised, killed or abolished. Helping with problematic demons is what I do. Or you know, when Tyrone gets particularly annoying.”

“Thanks, I’ll, uh, call you if I need you?”

The girl nodded, still a bit flustered. “Sure. See you around, I guess.”

Elisha walked out of the office, forgetting to take her mail. But she couldn’t help but feel but lighter than from before she stepped in.

She almost closed the door before opening it again to ask Elisabeth a question.

“Oh hey, just wondering, are you and Tyrone a thing? I mean, you said something about a ‘date night,’ so-”

Judging from the girl’s exhasparated expression, she could easily tell that the answer was no.

Where is the last place you had a kiss? My girlfriend’s couch. I normally wouldn’t kiss her inside her house but we were alone, so it just happened. What did you eat for breakfast yesterday? I skipped breakfast yesterday and went straight to having a macchiato, which was a horrible idea considering I had a badddd hangover. My body made me pay for it soon enough when my stomach started unusually heating up, so I bought a sandwich by around lunch to help it feel better. When was the last time you were at an amusement park? 2013. I don’t like amusement parks so when my friends make plans I don’t go along with them. Fifteen Years Ago

How old were you? I was six years old and the biggest thing I was worrying about was not knowing how to draw a star. Who were your best friends? I didn’t have any, but I remember having a group of friends that consisted of Raegan, Aica, Chrissy, and Marty.  If you went to school, where did you go? The same school I went to for 14 years. Where did you live? We still lived at our extended family’s house. It’s just beside our present village. What were your hobbies? Um, I wouldn’t say I had hobbies when I was 6. I liked watching Hi-5 and collecting Pogs, I guess. I remember enjoying coloring too, so I guess that pastime of mine started early.

How old were you? I was 11. Kinda chaotic year in terms of reaching puberty and being confused about literally everything all of a sudden. Where did you live? We had already moved to the house we currently live in today. Who did you you live with? Just my immediate family this time around. Kimi had already joined us, too. Did you have any pets? Yes, my dog. Who were your best friends? Angela and Marielle. Did you have a job? What was it or what was your dream job? Nope, I was in fifth grade. Did you go to school? If so, where? Still the same school. What were your favorite colors? I’m really not sure but I have to guess purple, because great-grandma was obsessed with it. I think I briefly liked orange too because this was around the time I got into Paramore, and Hayley still dyed her hair orange. What were your favorite TV shows? I didn’t watch a lot of TV during this time. I got into Twilight, though. What were your hobbies? This was around the time cellphones (and in particular, flip phones) and group messages became all the rage, so I was obsessed with using my phone back then. Other than that, I remember repeating the first Twilight movie over and over just because I loved the books so much, and listening on my iPod. What music did you listen to? How old are you? IIIIIIIi turned 21 this year. Where do you live? Same old house. Who do you live with? Same people, same dog, but now we have Arlee, my sister’s cat, too. Do you have any pets? Yes.
