eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him

HOLY SHIT, WHY IS THERE A DETCO REFERENCE IN MY URUSEI YATSURA??
Anyway, this reference is really funny and cute (and I think some episodes ago there was another reference but I'm not entirely sure for that one) since Detco also has a bunch of references to UY as well (this how I discovered Detco in the first place btw), so it's kind of like the UY remake is returning the favor :)
This is only one of them, there's a whole section in the UY wiki which lists most of them (which you can find here).

will i ever stop thinking about heather button being fanny's great granddaughter. will i ever stop thinking about how fanny must have had a son to have had a such a direct relation to heather. will i ever stop thinking about why fanny's son is never mentioned. will i ever stop thinking about fanny having strong opinions on the role of a mother and how to look after children, but never speaking of her own child or of being a mother herself. so many ghosts in this show and yet i'm most haunted by the total absence of fanny's son!!!!

People who recommend you start with ds9 are so... what are you talking about? Like, yes, it is the best one, but it's good precisely because it deconstructs the story as it has been presented to us in tos and (mostly) tng. It's not like you can't watch it without watching those first, but it loses so much of it's impact if you don't come in already believing in the story of the Federation as a utopia. Why are you trying to undercut your own fave like that, bro?

audrey: i don't know how much notice period you need. one month seems too little. would three months suffice?
audrey: or if you need longer, of course i'll give you longer.
siegfried: how about 'till death do us part'?
audrey: what
siegfried: what
