bc i’m feeling a lil sappy rn i want to give a shout-out to the three people that help me so much with writing even if it’s just them receiving my ideas and nodding along while i talk them out.
@punkassbookjockey26 is not only one of my closest and most favorite friends, but she edits most of my work for me. i’m writing ciwyw so fast right now that i’m doing my own editing but when i say that she truly helps me elevate different bits and pieces, even if it’s just rearranging a sentence to make it more impactful, like. y’all. she inspires me so much and gives me amazing feedback whether it’s hey this is great! or hey this needs some reworking. she’s just the best. there have been so many things she’s suggested, corrected, or added to fafs that just really lifted the entire chapter for me. big shout out to her for digging through our texts to find messages from two years ago for the plans for fafs so i could pick it back up again. i could NOT write fafs without you.
@shyvioletcat — miss ma’am recklessly encourages me to start the new au even though i don’t need another au going at the moment. and it gives me so much more freedom because im not limiting myself and telling myself no. she’s the yes man in my pocket, regardless of if it’s a whole new au, or throwing in a spicy twist of angst. ciwyw exists bc of her telling me to write it when i kept telling myself no. and she has been a sounding board for every idea and given me so much good advice and things to add. caitlyn inspires the angst goblin that dwells in my soul and encourages me ALWAYS.
@westofmoon — the spoiler dragon of us all. even just talking to ash about my plans for a chapter helps me flesh everything out. she always has incredible ideas from small moments to big ones. and her asking me what comes next keeps my brain moving and if i feel stuck she helps me get back on track. thank you for listening to all of my ideas and urging me on. honestly i probably wouldn’t have written half of my masterlist if you didn’t give me the space to work out my thoughts and ideas. you are the BEST.

⭐ gush about I Dig You 💚
🥰 I Dig You is so special to me.
It always blows my mind how much love there’s been for that fic. Especially because it was the first fic I wrote, and especially because it’s about something that I adore.
I read everything fanfic written in the fandom for months before I started writing myself, and once I decided to try I felt like I needed to use something that I knew. It helped take away some of the intimidation of writing.
I love writing modern, real-world AUs - there’s just something about taking these fantastical characters and dropping them into slice-of-life situations that makes them feel so real and me feel so connected to them.
Aelin’s job in I Dig You is a Bioarchaeologist which is basically the person who works on a dig site (or later in the lab) and handles/identifies/analyzes any human or faunal remains found during excavation.
My degree is in Anthropology and Archaeology with specializations in Osteology. I’ve worked with hundreds of human and animal bones in a variety of settings - one of which was a summer spent working on a dig site that focused on Bioarchaeology. Lots of self insertion in my fic lol
There were days when I was writing chapters and I had my forensic anthropology textbooks out making sure I had the details right (all the terminology and scientific information in the fic is completely accurate btw), and I always joked like what would my professors say if they knew I was using their lectures to write fan fiction? 😂
I also love puns. And alliterations. Most of my fics are titled with one or the other lol and I had so much fun just brainstorming chapter titles for I Dig You.
I have more ideas of how to expand the story like taking a look at Rowaelin a year after the dig, or seeing the history between the Faunal specialists (Elorcan). But I haven’t gotten around to writing those.
I’ve taken a bit of an unintentional writing hiatus but talking about this makes me want to dive back in 🥰

What are your views on samlaena?? Good or bad?
oh😅 some people won’t really like it
But in my opinion, Samleana isn’t worth the entire hype all over it?
Maybe my dislike was born from people saying that Sam was "Celaena’s mate", that Aelin would choose Sam over Rowan if Sam was still alive because that’s just… not true.
If Celeana was a person to herself, which she isn’t, she would be human. Without a mate. And if she did have a mate, as much as I hate that, it would be Chaol. In my opinion he is the only man, other than Rowan, that she truly loved.
I don’t think she really loved Sam. He showed her sympathy and a somewhat healthy interest after 8 years of her being groomed every single day, so she got interested in him. But I never felt… love? It was just, ‘oh, Sam likes me, I will kiss him’
She did not trust him for her secret identity (may I add that she trusted Chaol more with it even if he was still loyal to the King?), she never fully trusted him as a whole. He was there and I’m happy that Aelin had this little break from abuse, but there is no big love story
Also, I think it was @westofmoon who pointed that out, but Aelin has this little habit of only remembering the good things when someone she loved died. She never mentions again how Sam was also an asshole to her at the beginning (I don’t call him abusive or shit, just that he isn’t the little angel this fandom makes him?). She did the same with Nehemia, she never really got angry at how their friendship was a lie and she was manipulated.
I don’t hate their relationship or anything, the only relationship I dislike in the series was Chaolaena 😂 but it kind of annoys me when people make it look like Sam was the big love of Aelin’s life and she went for Rowan as a last chance for happiness because Sam was dead, that is so untrue and undermining of the true bond between Rowan and Aelin
Just because Aelin wondered at one point if Sam was her mate doesn’t make them soulmates or ‘right person, wrong time’. She also wondered if Chaol was her mate and it was two months before she went to Sam’s grave. Aelin needed that sense of belonging a mate bond would give her, that’s it. And Rowan was the one to give her that without even knowing and without a spoken mate bond

13. favorite writing song/artist/album of this year?
oooooo im not gonna lie, i absolutely LOVED folklore (betty!!!!!), and ive done literally all of my finals work listening to evermore (i still havent managed to pick a fav - too hard!) . But im not much of a swiftie outside of that 😂 this summer i found myself listening to a crazy amount of Brandi Carlisle actually, so i think it would have to be her (if we’re going by metrics lmao) with “hold out your hand” or anything off of her newest album.

Actually tho I feel like sometimes social media takes away the joy from reading? Because it’s so influential I love talking about books but the way it happens on booktok for example makes me get into a reading slump every other day because they recommend everything

i agree with this! social media totally can ruin it. because something can be so hyped and then i read it and i’m like for why. or i can see nobody talk about it so i’ll avoid picking it up and then eventually i do pick it up bc the premise was just so interesting to me i cave and get it and then it’s like actually a masterpiece lmao.
i think i mentioned it ages ago in our original back and forth but usually my recommendations, even for hyped books, come from my bookish friends. (usually @punkassbookjockey26 and @westofmoon bc we are so similar and they know what i’ll like and they’re like em you’ll die fucking read the thing and then i do and i do, in fact, die lmao)
unfortunately my brain hasn’t let me read a book since like fucking march and i hate myself for it but here we are lol

Rowaelin Writers Appreciation Post
trying to spread the love for rowaelin writers tonight, so here's a list I cobbled together of writers who make absolutely wonderful contributions to the fandom. This is by no means a comprehensive list! This is made by my late night brain here, so I know I missed a lot of people. If you want a comprehensive list, check out the masterlist I made
But here are just some wonderful writers I can think of, and I just want to thank all of you fanfic writers out there for what you do for us, and what you offer us.
I know it's difficult when you don't get as many notes as you hoped for, or as many comments as you hoped for, i fall into the same trap a lot, thinking that no one cares about what i post, but that's not true! There are so many people out there who appreciate what you do, me included, and i just want to emphasize that!
And readers! Try to show a little love, if you don't already. Interaction is what fuels us as writers, it's what shows us that what we post is wanted, and while everyone says to write for yourself, it's a little difficult to find the motivation when you think no one is reading what you're putting so much time into.
So put yourself out there! Don't feel embarassed, even a reblog or just a heart emoji means the world ❤️

ok idea. what if we did like a self-advertising thing where you for example make a little thing talking about idwtw (or another one of your fics) and how good it is and why people should read it, then tag a few other people who chose one of their own fics to advertise? maybe this fandom needs some boosting from the writers themselves 🤷♀️
Love this idea. Here goes:
Rowaelin fans. If you love friends to lovers, I Don’t Want To Wait is waiting for you. It started off as my personal agenda to right the wrongs of Dawson’s Creek (my favorite show), but it ended up being my magnum opus about girls who have been told that sex is wrong and that body autonomy is wrong. So for anyone, young or old, who believes that sexuality and sex are not shameful and are to be explored, check out this friends to lovers fic. It’s changed me and I hope it changes you.
