The valley where my parents live

I've lived there for most my life, and now I can't go too long without mountains 😄

2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?

I haven't spent enough holidays abroad to really have a good point of comparison, but I know I still have many places to discover in my own country

4. favourite dish specific for your country?

Are you asking me to choose? I won't, and by the way, these dishes are always from a specific region of France

First, there's the Gratin Dauphinois (with potatoes and milk, no cream or cheese, thank you very much!)

Then there's the Mont d'Or chaud, cheese heated in the oven and eaten with potatoes (from Jura)

Finally the Palette à la diable, a tender piece of pork cooked with a mustard sauce (it comes from Alsace)

There may have been a conversation just today regarding this.

My friends know I write, and they also know I've written fanfiction. Select people have even read it (only one irl friend has an Ao3 account).

And irl I have a writing group that I've been a part of for a few years, based out of my church. It's super helpful for keeping on track with original fiction, and that is the purpose that I have allocated it. BUT this time last year someone spoke about using writing to deal with grief/trauma, and I was there, white-knuckling my laptop until I got the courage (hubris?) to mention that I'd used fanfiction for that purpose, specifically dealing with my post-natal depression by writing about a cHaRaCtEr lOsInG tHeIr iNnOcEnCe aBoUt wAr (who could she be?) in a long, angst-filled fic. I had to then explain fanfiction so some 60-year-olds who I have a lot of respect for, and then one of them started writing things down and I realised they intended to go onto ao3 to just stroll around and see what this FanFiction thing was so I gave the worst, quickest, most panicked explanation of "oh, please, for the love of all that is good and right in the world use filters if you look for fanfiction of any kind. Do not look unfiltered, my 60-year-old church friend, you are too sweet and lovely and I will not be able to meet your eyes next session."

And there was never any mention of it again.

But today we met together, and I was in conversation with two of the younger members (one who had been away for Uni and so hadn't been since about the time of that incident), and I was asked who the elder person was and did they still attend the group, and had he ever actually made it onto Ao3 and spoken with me about it, and all I could do was dart glances over at my dearly respected elder friend in conversation elsewhere and talk out of my teeth in hopes that he couldn't hear me.

So ... I do tell people I write fanfiction. And I am kind of happy to share it about. But at the same time oh bOY it is still mortifying XD

Still working on my original stuff at the moment. I recently wrote The Scene I was excited to write, and found it very frustrating that I was obviously missing ingredients, so I'm going back and adding them now. The worst of them is time. I was too rushed T_T

There was a fun bit that I think I'm going to delete. It was meant to be a character growth indicator (the difference between Penny's response in this situation and another response in another situation), but as far as the endgame is concerned, it smacks too much of 'love-triangle' which I don't want.

1. who is/are your comfort character(s)?

My long-term comfort characters are obviously Roy and Riza, and for the last four years, Jaime and Brienne are as well. Jean and Rebecca are in the group too! (less tragic backstory for them)

8. how many water bottles are in your room right now?

Well, I'm not in my room right now, but I can tell you there's at least 3 water bottles in my office, since I share with other people. And in my room, there's an empty iced tea bottle that I use as water bottle

9. which do you prefer, hot coffee or cold coffee?

It depends on the coffee. I take black coffee (with sugar) or cappuccino hot, but I also like cold coffee. I have a preference for cold coffee, because it's sweeter, even if I drink it less often.

26. a scenario that you’ve replayed multiple times?

A discussion with people who don't like my ships/comfort characters, who say they're toxic or shouldn't be liked ("they're war criminals!!!" "he pushed a boy from a window!"). Obviously, I haven't got the opportunity to say or write it for real, and it's tiring enough in my head so I don't want to put it in words in the real world (for someone who might not even care about my opinion)

3.How would you describe your writing style?

I have absolutely no idea. Character oriented for sure? I've been told it was very linear too. Sorry, I don't know at all lol. If you or anyone reading this has an idea I'm actually curious 😂

5.What's a tag you never want to use for your works even when it applies?

Grrrrmmblblbrrrr well I probably will have to change my mind and use the tag "whump" one day or another, because apparently it applies to what I write. However, I don't want to use it because of a number of reasons, main one being how it is used on tumblr. For me this use tends to reduce characters to their suffering, said suffering being the goal of the art/fic. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind people doing and enjoying this. I actually read whump too, because I chose what I read based on summary and vibes rather than tags. It's just not what I'm doing myself. I'm in the hurt/comfort team. Bittersweet is a term that comes up in a lot of comments about my work and yes. Yes, this.

Other reason is that I refuse to use that word when I'm writing a disabled character because urgh that sounds...idk. Yeah that sounds really not good to me. I'm trying to handle this topic respectfully and this doesn't feel respectful at all. Y'all know my current big fic is blind Roy, and if anything this fic is about him being resilient, competent, and far less useless than he thinks he is (as you said so in your comment @wellbehaveddolphin and yes I'm still yelling about it because YOU GOT IT!!!). Same for Riza dealing with PTSD. The goal is to have them find each other through the hard times they're once again going through. Not the hard times themselves (also you'll notice that I'm giving them some good stuff too lol).

Absolutely no shade towards whump people, and I'm sorry if I read the tag wrong. It's just how it feels to me.

My brain is too crushed by work today so I am going to cheat and use the first line of a WIP. Since I don't know if I'll ever publish it, eh. Lol.
