Beech VC-6A at the National Museum of the USAF

In 1966 the U.S. Air Force purchased a standard Beechcraft King Air B90 with a special VIP interior, designated as the VC-6A, to support President Lyndon B. Johnson and his family. The aircraft was faster and more agile than other light transport aircraft and featured full pressurization for comfort at high altitudes. Other special features included all-weather navigation, de-icing equipment and reversible propellers that allowed the aircraft to land on very short runways.

The VC-6A was primarily used to transport President Johnson and his family between Bergstrom AFB, Texas, and the Johnson Ranch near Stonewall, Texas. Owing to these frequent flights, the aircraft became informally known as the ���Lady Bird Special,” a play on the childhood nickname “Lady Bird” of First Lady Claudia Johnson.

After leaving presidential service, the VC-6A continued to operate as an executive transport with the 89th Military Airlift Wing until it was retired to the museum in September 1985.

i'm sorry nobody needs a private jet. nobody nobody nobody. she's worried about people bothering her on the plane? buy out the nearby seats and put your security and/or travel companions in those seats. sorry but you will have to interact with a flight attendant! get the fuck over it! worried about security? most major airports in the states have completely private VIP airport security areas, only accessible to those who pay exorbitant amounts of money for it. JFK and LAX have massive ones. the service includes driving you to a separate private entrance so you don't even have to walk through the main airport! worried about even business/FC Lounges having fans in them? Those same airports have private waiting areas for the rich and famous, willing and able to pay. Or walking through the terminal to your gate? they also offer door to door service, from your private lounge in a private car directly to the gate/steps of the plane. They even work with the pilots so you arrive last, never standing in a line or interacting with anyone. private jets are evil and unnecessary for every single person except maybe heads of state (president, prime minster, etc) because people are ACTUALLY trying to kill them at all times. a celebrity can be slightly inconvenienced so we have water to drink and air to breathe in 50 years! end of discussion!!!
