Summary: The Golden Land is just as Othere told them it would be: the soil is rich and healthy, and the forests teem with game. On that first day, Ubbe and the other men cut down trees and start building rough shelters; Torvi and the women clear away the brush and cook fresh-caught fish over the fire. While the adults busy themselves with the settlement, Asa slips away and follows the stream to hidden places in the woods. She collects smooth stones and feathers and tucks flowers behind her ears.
During the day it is not so bad. At night, it is different. When the shadows grow long and the sun dips below the horizon, they all become different people in the dark.

the thing is i can’t even really compare vikings, vikings valhalla, and the last kingdom despite being very similar in setting and tone. so i’ll review them instead
vikings was on overall solid show that went off the walls in the middle then ended with one of the strongest final seasons i’ve ever watched. best costumes ever purely king ecbert’s fits
the last kingdom was pretty consistent in quality with some really enjoyable characters and stroylines that really grew on me. i went from booing every time uhtred came onscreen to cheering him on and thats called growth
vikings valhalla, despite being a sequel to vikings, is more wild than the former could ever hope to be. history is an obstacle to be overthrown. i cannot wait for season 3
bonus round: assassins creed valhalla - its still really bad and im still really upset about it and i wont be tricked into reinstalling it i swear i wont i prommy

Game of Bones: Charlie bringing Sarah coffee is one of my favourite things 😍. Him calling her m'lady when they're working a case about Vikings is cute and it's here we discover Sarah's love for Pumpkin Spice Creamer (changing to vanilla and cinammon by S6). Charlie and Sarah discussing the sword seemingly to forget that Joe and Jesse are also there. Rex wearing the chainmail scarf at the end remains one of the cutest things ever.

why do they always gotta use longer beards to signify a time jump and yes I'm looking at Harald and Leif promo pics.at least freydis looks good and the new characters look pretty interesting. I predict a love triangle, either either the new pagan leader viking guy gets between Harald and freydis or Harald's byzantinian wife.anywho i hope they go back to shorter beards
you know, I will say I don't think the longer beards look terrible and I get the impetus for wanting to have a new look for a new season. what I do object to, specifically, is harald done up like this. this man brought his personal bathtub along for his revenge campaign! he's got his fancy boy braids and his slutty leather v-neck and his furs! he's royalty, not some freaking greenlander hick! even on the run or in disguise, I feel like this is a guy who needs to be well groomed regardless. maybe he'll pull a s6 ivar where he gets rid of the beard (or at least trims the beard) in the first 10 minutes of the season, who knows.
anyway if the showrunners aren't cowards and want to be true to the spirit of vikings then they will not just give us a love triangle but an honest to god threesome, doesn't really matter between who at this point. but we'll see.
