“Honestly… I know you better than I ever knew my dad. You’re more patient than my dad was when we train together, and you aren’t disappointed with me most of the time. And, like, I’ve known you for a year and you mean more to me than my dad did and maybe that’s a bad thing but I just wanted… you to know that I appreciate all you do for me and Vetra. You didn’t have to take care of us but you do anyway.”
“The two of you were like those fluffy birds that look at something and decide they’re its parent. Woulda been an ass to kick you outta the nest,” Drack says dismissively.
“Ducks? You think Vetra and I are ducklings?” she says, grinning.
“Not as cute as one, but yeah. Ducklings that know how to kick ass.”
“So geese, then?” she says, proud of her joke. Drack doesn’t laugh; instead he looks down at her, his expression serious.
“They know how to shoot shit?”
“Worse: they bite and charge.”
“Definitely little geeslings, then.”
“Gosling,” she says, smiling. “I was really lonely at first, because Scott was sick and I didn’t have anyone who just… believed in me because they saw my potential and not just because I have SAM in my brain. But you wanted a good fight, and saw that I could give you one. Not the most traditional way of believing in someone, but it means a lot.”
“SAM didn’t break your brain, did they? You’re getting all soft and I’m not even Vetra,” Drack says.

see above. their dynamic is just so delicious, especially when they're old comrades and keep drifting apart only to be thrown back together, and honestly im especially a fan of the two of them finding love and happiness with someone else but still acknowledging that little bit of sadness that they couldn't be what the other needed fuck me up
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

okay gonna be honest here it's not my favorite vetra ship, we know the name of the game in this house by now, but!! i adore how they balance each other, i love vetra learning to breathe a little while ryder learns to step up a bit more, im down so so bad for ships that complement each other and bring out new sides of themselves
