Out of curiosity why do you think it’s unfair to ask Harrow to choose Gideon over Alecto?

I think it's unfair to frame the choice as a dichotomy. It would be unfair to ask her to reject Alecto in order win Gideon's trust.

Harrow loves Gideon, and she also loves Alecto. She loves Alecto like a religion, and has loved her since she was a child. Loving Alecto has saved Harrow's life, and it wouldn't be fair to ask her to give that up.

If circumstances somehow contrive to make loving both Gideon and Alecto impossible, if outside forces mean she has to choose one to keep and the other to lose forever, I hope she chooses Gideon. It still wouldn't be fair to Harrow that she has to make the choice, but very few things in Harrow's life have been fair.
