Guess who scored an absolute jackpot of UV glass today?? I didn't even have my blacklight with me, but I've gotten good at spotting them, I think.
EDIT: For any of you concerned; are they radio active? Yes. Enough to be dangerous?? No. Only if you spend extended periods of time absolutely SURROUNDED by them, would they even begin to be harmful. Statistically, you experience more radiation from household electronics and appliances than you would ever dream to get off of uranium glass. I wouldn't recommend eating from them, though. I wouldn't recommend eating out of ANY antique dishware. You're more likely to get lead poisoning than be harmed from any radioactivity.
Necklace for Absinthe the Green Fairy Halloween prop project. Pictures are in normal light, blacklight, and the dark in which it glows. Swarovski, Preciosa, vintage, uranium glass, and Aragonite natural glow in the dark stones in black enameled settings. Some crystal has aftermarket coatings to make them glow in blacklight and in the dark.
This photo of what I found has me screaming, crying, throwing up and biting at the cage bars. Someone on a uranium glass page said it's from Czechoslovakia but that the exact maker is unknown. I've got two more pieces from the same set but the pics don't look anywhere near as cool but I'll still post them 😅
THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!! Dudes, the Roadshow fooled us SO HARD. On the broadcast version they air two extra “hidden treasure” appraisals after the end credits, which they do not include on the versions on their youtube uploads or the pbs app on my internet tv. I thought they had just gotten rid of that part when we had our watch parties, but luckily Cass’s cousin completely unintentionally caught a rerun yesterday on an official pbs broadcast station, which is almost better than getting to see the moment together because of how ridiculous this all has been. Did roadshow really just pull the best prank ever?
So we were not only in the background of three shots, we were the last full-on appraisal on the last episode, which is off the wall cause I kept telling ppl I hope we’re on hour three cause the suspense will make it even better, but I guess I manifested the “last one” too literally lol.
Roadshow played us like nobody’s business, it could have been years before us or someone we knew saw a broadcast rerun. Thank glob it happened sooner cause it’s been a hell of a week for me, so I will accept this apology universe, almost makes up for what you’ve been putting me through. Mostly thank you Antiques Roadshop for including us, and Cass, thank you most of all for backing me up on this insane journey and bringing the goods (literally TREASURES!!!) Truly a dream come true!!! 🙏🤗🤓🥰🤩🥳🥹😭🫠
Also always FREE PALESTINE 🍉🪁🇵🇸
finn came over after work on friday. we sat at my kitchen table for four hours, ate mac and cheese pizza, drank regrettable dollar bucket nonsense, and talked about hip disarticulation, vitamin a, puppy cams, robotic legs, adolescent arrest records, and dark nominative determinism. it was a nice afternoon
What's the point of collecting the glassware if you're only able to appreciate their beauty under a black light??? I ask as someone just stumbling over a post of yours never having heard of such a thing
Well, I'd say the blacklight ENHANCES uranium glass more than anything because in regular light they vary in shades of yellow to something like ectoplasmic lime jello, like this ridiculous juicer here:
Some people like them for historical factors, some people just think they're neat.
Sometimes having some harmlessly radioactive, eerie glowing glass brings a person a little spark of joy, and thats what matters 👌
