Happy St. Urho's Day!
When I was a kid, I lived far away from my grandparents. But there was a retired woman in walking distance from home who was our regular babysitter, and she was like a bonus grandma to my brother and me, who'd have us over if our parents were out of town. We called her "Ma," because that was my brother's first word, and it was to her.
Ma was Finnish-American (and I think was the first of her siblings to be born in the US?). Every year in preparation for March 16, she would tell us the story of St. Urho, and how he saved the grape crop by bravely driving the grasshoppers out of Finland.
We didn't have a local parade the way some nearby communities did, so I did not grow up throwing donut seeds (Cheerios) and chanting Heinasirkka, heinasirkka, mene taalta hiiteen [grasshopper, grasshopper, get the hell out of here] like some people did. And we never ate fish stew to commemorate the occasion. But Ma made cupcakes and frosted them with purple icing every year, and every year she told the stories.
I was well into my 20s before I learned that not only was there no historical St. Urho, but the tale of St. Urho dates back to the 1950s in a bar in northern Minnesota, where it was invented to sell beer.
Still: St. Urho's Day is my favorite made-up holiday, and I'll always wear purple on March 16 in honor of the wonder and cupcakes Ma shared with us.

chowder came out as trans at a very early age and yeah, they took some convincing, but his parents came on board with his gender pretty easily. by the time that middle school rolled around, his gender was correct on as many documents as legally possible, and in every way, chowder was finally living as his actual gender.
at samwell, it's been normal to him and his friends for so long that he kinda just forgot that there might be questions about his top surgery scars, so there's a funny moment where holster gestures to his chest and goes "what are those??" and chowder just looks down and goes "my nipples???"
anyway, chowder is very bisexual and, although he's never been in the closet, announces it during his sophomore year by declaring that everyone that's ever used his and lardo's bathroom has been bisexual and that it will stay that way if he can help it.
