This post is a personal one because to my family and friends I must have been the biggest, dorkiest, muggle-born (yes, muggle-born because I am a witch freak and I wouldn’t allow anyone to tell me otherwise) they will ever meet in their lives, or the next. Ever since I was 13, walking the Wizarding World has been my absolute dream — and last year, after 12 painstakingly long years, I made it. Finally. It was all I ever imagined it would be and more. All the stuff I just read in the books or seen in the films or pictured in my mind were all there for me, tangible and real, to see, to feel and even to taste (yes, Butterbeer!). But seeing the Hogwarts Castle up close was my pièce de résistance moment for my younger self who never really fit in in my old regular school wished and wished that schools like Hogwarts truly exist, or better yet, that there really is such a thing as magic. Tim’s Chocolate Cake, Happiness Cafe (SF area). Delicious. You have to order a drink set. Free drink refills from the soda fountains. 950 yen. Warning: Happiness Cafe is EXTREMELY popular and can be difficult to enter during peak hours. I’ve had nothing but positive interactions with staff and customers here, though!

Barbecue Beef Sandwich Set, Lost World Restaurant (Jurassic Park area). I only just discovered this recently. The BBQ sauce is tasty enough but the beef can be chewy and tough. The bread is very delicious as is the edamame and avacado salad. But I especially love the “homemade” potato chips. 1900 yen. A bit pricey but you can easily get a seat here during off-peak times such as 1030am for lunch or maybe 300 or 330 for an early dinner. This has quickly become a favorite of mine!

Pastrami Pizza with Halloween Crust, Louie’s NY Pizza Parlor (NY area). A popular seasonal treat making a welcome return. The pastrami didn’t have much of an impact but the overall flavor is a strong tangy tomato. The crust looks burned but I think it’s infused with some kind of charcoal powder to give it that spooky Halloween color. Comes with fries and a drink if you buy it as a set. 1650 yen, only during No Limit/Halloween Horror Nights. Warning: Again, Louie’s is a very popular restaurant located in a happening area of the park (just down the block from Spider-Man and close to the Minions area) so lines can be excruciatingly long during peak hours. But you can hardly go wrong with very basic pizza and by USJ standards the prices are very reasonable. I try to eat there at least once every trip!
