So growing up, many of my little cousin did a sort of 'copying' phase. Did Emmet or Ingo ever pick up any of Clay's or Drayden's habits? Just nonchalantly doing something their uncles do and not even notice? Maybe when Ingo or ememt are angry they get a thick southern accent? Or subconsciously crossing their arms like Drayden?

Oh, absolutely!

It was purposeful as kids, but then they just internalized some of the behaviors.

Anyone who knows who raised the twins can see their uncles in them, though each twin takes after a different uncle primarily. Ingo mimics Drayden far more than Clay, and Emmet is the opposite. To the point that when people learn it, their first reaction is usually "Oh, that explains it!" And to start listing resemblances they noticed.

And, though they never quite picked up Clay's accent, yes, in the Uncle Clay AU, Ingo and Emmet use far more contractions and certain words do have a bit of a southern twang to them. They try to hide it in professional settings, so it's always a shock to people the first time they spend time with the twins casually and one of them says 'y'all' or 'I'd've' or something.

Also, sometimes when Emmet does something especially irritating or reckless, Ingo uses the exact tone of voice Drayden would always use on them when they were in trouble as kids. And when Ingo does something, Emmet gives him the same Look that Clay would always send them when they were in trouble with him.

Day 17, Silly

Clay should not be left alone with his new nephew

I decided to use this prompt to draw something silly rather than drawing emmet being silly

Not me thinking about Clay having an uncle-like relationship with Ingo and Emmet, alongside Drayden, their actual uncle. Then once Ingo gets eebied to Hisui, he meets Lian and feels this weird sense of familiarity, like has he seen that hat before? And Ingo acts like an uncle to Lian, similar to how Clay was for him. He gives Lian advice, hangs out with him, listens as Lian talks all about rocks and ores. And I think Lian tries to act more grown up than he really is, trying to prove himself as a worthy warden amongst the adults. But when he's alone with Ingo, he feels comfortable enough with him and Ingo insists that he gets to play and act like a child. Lian knows Ingo would never tell anyone if he ever acted a bit more goofy and silly, or if he cried or got upset. And Ingo wants Lian to act like the child he is. Sure, their duties as wardens to the Pearl Clan are important, but a kid is still a kid.

Anyway, just feeling feelings about Ingo and these rock collecting cowboys that are his family.

Just a fun question! What are your favorite at mediums that you don’t draw/use?

Okay I love this question-

Two mediums that elude me beyond belief are

Paint (any paint, acrylic, oil, it’s like a whole wild world and I can’t make it do WHAT I WANT-)

And colored pencils (don’t judge me okay I’m a alchohol marker kinda girly. I can’t get the layering right with pencils.)

Paint is such an amazing medium because not only does it enable you to create LARGER pieces of artwork on nearly ANY surface you want! But it’s so fluid and malleable to work with there’s very little you CANT do with it! I have a huge respect for any painted artwork that takes time, specifically realism but I still appreciate other works as long as you can tell it has meaning/took time.

Colored pencils are nice to work with for little things for me but like- I don’t understand how people layer them??? This is also a pretty common medium for hyperrealism. These differ from charcoals and graphite pencils because it’s not just a matter of lighter or darker anymore- it’s a matter of completely different colors.

Yeah you think your just gonna use orange pencils?

NAH THAT SKINTONE HAS UNDERTONES OF GREEN!!! YOUVE BEEN FOOLED!!

Anyway- I have a huge respect for people who use these mediums because I have genuinely tried and they elude me.

But the important thing to remember is that every medium takes talent and practice and therefore all should be admired :) !
