New challenge (to establish a daily routine): Creating one new polytope info card after breakfast - each day.
(That is the first page of the list of the polytopes I want to make. (92 Johnson solids will be very very much, and I have to stop myself from thinking about those many solids. but eeeh. we might approach it step by step... )
Tumblr media
So, I started the polytope cards project some time in the summer of this year.
I already made all 5 platonic solids,
some regular 4-polytopes (the 4D platonic solids plus the 24-cell that has no 3D sibling),
and the first 4 archimedian solids.
Today I created the truncated octahedron card:

Yesterday I made the truncated tetrahedron card:

The general template of the cards is as following:

This project is still in progress.
Furtherly I want to add:

Elusive 3D printed nanoparticles could lead to new shapeshifting materials
In nanomaterials, shape is destiny. That is, the geometry of the particle in the material defines the physical characteristics of the resulting material. "A crystal made of nano-ball bearings will arrange themselves differently than a crystal made of nano-dice and these arrangements will produce very different physical properties," said Wendy Gu, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Stanford University, introducing her latest paper which appears in the journal Nature Communications. "We've used a 3D nanoprinting technique to produce one of the most promising shapes known—Archimedean truncated tetrahedrons. They are micron-scale tetrahedrons with the tips lopped off."

you said anakin doesnt like red in the mttt au so im very sorry ahsoka but he is not going to like that blanket
It’s trial and error. (And how was Ahsoka supposed to know the dark red reminds him of blood-)

I LOVE REINCARNATION AUS. obi-wan coming to earth right after death star one, anakin coming to earth right after death star two, them avoiding each other even though hm why does his professor look so familiar and aaaaaaaaa its so good
(again sorry for late answer; for everyone else the ask is referring to this post)
oh GODS yes!!! i dont have anything planned but i kinda want one where they’ve always been getting dreams from their star-wars-verse life, though it’s never really clear, so they don’t tell anyone for fear of... well being seen as a nutcase or something; but when they see each other in the lecture hall one day, obi-wan as the prof and anakin a student on the bench, there’s immediately that spark of recognition, and even, like, just personality-wise they get along well!
so yeah their relationship slowly transitions from classroom to something more akin to friendship, then finally to a sort of intimacy. anakin’s almost graduating from college, and he’s so hopeful about them getting together and becoming a thing, when obi-wan suddenly tells anakin they couldn’t be together; gently, courteously, but definitely a rejection and anakin feels it in his bones and is so confused because they were going to be so happy?? so anakin tries to come around to it and obi-wan keeps telling him he has his reasons, no it’s not health, no it’s not family, no it’s not even finance either, just that he can’t tell anakin because “you would think me mad”.
and anakin tries everything until one night he finally unlocks the Mustafar Dream Episode and oops turns out obi-wan has been pushing anakin away because obi-wan remembered it first along with all the guilt and shame and he felt too embarrassed to tell anakin that a dream was what kept him from a relationship but it felt like more than a dream, it felt too real, he couldn’t go through with it. now that anakin remembers too, he just runs to obi-wan’s place and tells him all about it and they try to cope and move on, and anakin is like, “I want to make up for all the time I should’ve been cherishing you.”
plus anakin calling obi-wan ‘professor’ all the time instead of ‘master’ even after he graduated is chef’s kiss to me

why do you think so many fanworks have anakin bragging that hes the chosen one? he literally never does that in canon, its mostly the jedi council and obi-wan pushing it on him, forcing all that responsibility onto a kid. he doesnt want that, he even asks obi-wan to take it away from him. he never calls himself the chosen one, its only other people calling him that. he may be arrogant and brag a lot, but he never calls himself that.
It has a lot to do with how some fans perceive Anakin and popular that misconception has spread. It’s one of those cases where fanon becomes so popular people take it as canon. Did Anakin have moments of arrogance? Sure. But they all did so his momentaneous (over) confidence shouldn’t be enough to label him arrogant. However, people don’t like Anakin (or don’t want to admit their non-Anakin faves have similar faults) so he’s considered the height of arrogance even when all the facts point to the opposite direction.
He was the Chosen One, they told him. He was supposed to bring balance to the Force. Anakin thought that some little extra support might go with being the Chosen One, a helping hand or at least some understanding from the Jedi Council, but instead he was passed around like an unwelcome burden, ending up with Qui-Gon Jinn and then Kenobi because nobody else would have him. His chosen status meant less than nothing; it felt more like a stigma. And they wondered why he was difficult at times. Maybe they didn’t want balance, whatever that was. Maybe nobody liked a Jedi who was that different. He felt like an embarrassment to them. I do everything you ask of me. I try so hard. When is it going to be enough? When are you going to say, “Okay, Anakin Skywalker, you’re good enough”? [Karen Traviss. The Clone Wars]
“I didn’t ask for this. I don’t need this. So if I wasn’t friends with Palpatine I’d be a Master already, is that what you’re saying?” Obi-Wan looked pained. “I don’t know.” “I have the power of any five Masters. Any ten. You know it, and so do they.” “Power alone is no credit to you—” Anakin flung an arm back toward the Council Tower. “They’re the ones who call me the chosen one! Chosen for what? To be a dupe in some slimy political game?” [Stover’s Revenge of the Sith]
“You would forgo your destiny for Padmé?” Anakin’s brows beetled in anger. “I never claimed to be the Chosen One. That was Qui-Gon. Even the Council doesn’t believe it anymore, so why should you?” “Because I think you believe it,” Obi-Wan said calmly. “I think you know in your heart that you’re meant for something extraordinary.” “And you, Master. What does your heart tell you you’re meant for?” “Infinite sadness,” Obi-Wan said, even while smiling. [ James Luceno. Labyrinth of Evil]
You who was called arrogant multiple times in canon? The Jedi Order, as a group, was considered by their own leader and adviser (Yoda) as having a growing arrogance problem.
“But he still has much to learn, Master,” Obi-Wan explained. “His skills have made him … well, arrogant.”  “Yes, yes,” Yoda agreed. “It’s a flaw more and more common among Jedi. Too sure of themselves, they are. Even the older, more experienced Jedi.” Obi-Wan considered the words with an assenting nod. They certainly rang true, and the current conditions among the Jedi in this time of mounting tension were a bit unsettling, with many off on their own far from Coruscant. And had not arrogance played a major role in Count Dooku’s decision to depart the Order, and the Republic? [R.A. Salvatore. Attack of the Clones]
“The war has been a Sith operation from the beginning, with Dooku on one side and Sidious on the other—it has always been a plot aimed at us. At the Jedi. To bleed us dry of our youngest and best. To make us into something we were never intended to be.” He shook his head bitterly. “I had the truth in my hands years ago—back on Haruun Kal, in the first months of the war. I had it, but I did not understand how right I was.”  “Seen glimpses of this truth, we all have,” Yoda said sadly. “Our arrogance it is, which has stopped us from fully opening our eyes.” [Matthew Stover. Revenge of the Sith]
“Too old I was,” Yoda said. “Too rigid. Too arrogant to see that the old way is not the only way. These Jedi, I trained to become the Jedi who had trained me, long centuries ago—but those ancient Jedi, of a different time they were. Changed, has the galaxy. Changed, the Order did not—because let it change, I did not.” [Matthew Stover. Revenge of the Sith]
Padawan, thousands of Jedi once there were. Then came war. In our arrogance, join the conflict swiftly we did. Fear, anger, hate. Consumed by the dark side the Jedi were. Was it wrong for the Jedi to fight? Is it wrong for me to protect my friends? Wrong? Hmm. A long time, fought I did. Consumed by fear I was, though see it I did not. [Yoda in Star Wars: Rebels]
But when you remind people of that fact, you’re a crazy, evil jedi-hater who is ruining the fandom for everyone -___-

unpopular opinion: anakin is actually good with kids, and the only reason he didn't want ahsoka is because he didn't want a kid on the battlefield. this isn't just an opinion, i have canon evidence to back up the first part, and legends evidence to back up the second.
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree I mean, I’d argue with this being an unpopular opinion--it is wildly popular for Anakin to be good with kids, especially baby Luke and baby Leia. I can believe that Anakin didn’t want a kid on the battlefield, but he also didn’t want one because “a Padawan would just slow me down”.  Further, Ahsoka isn’t really a “kid” in the sense of someone you have to take care of 24/7, she’s capable of entertaining/taking care of herself for reasonably long periods of time (as well as she spends a significant amount of time being taught by other Masters, so Anakin isn’t solely responsible for her) and so she’s not really the same thing as taking care of a child who needs you to be their guardian. So we really don’t have much evidence either way of Anakin’s interaction with children, he’s never really shown with them for any significant amount of time.  Even in Revenge of the Sith, he barely seems to want to talk about the baby, he changes the subject a lot or uses it as a reason not to talk to Obi-Wan or just entirely ignores that the baby died with Padme and only asks about her. In contrast, we see things like Mace being gentle with the Twi’lek child in the comics, we see Obi-Wan carrying Numa around, we see Ahsoka making cute faces at Roo Roo Page, we see her being cute with Rotta (fair enough that Anakin wouldn’t want to interact with Jabba’s kid, but it’s not like that’s actually stated in the movie, he just doesn’t want to deal with a crying baby and hands him off to his new Padawan instead), we see her and Yoda being patient with the younglings on Ilum, we see Plo gently reaching out to baby Ahsoka in iconic concept art, we see Yoda cheerfully delighting in teaching a class of younglings, etc. It’s not that I think Anakin would be terrible with kids, I just don’t think he’d be particularly suited to it, he wanted to go fast and live his life the way he wanted. Even he himself acknowledges this when he says he’d kill them if he had to take care of them.  And it’s fine that other people see him differently, everyone should have fun with their views of the character!  I just don’t see any evidence in the movies or the TV series that convinced me personally of it.

satine is a colonizer, bro. there's a reason it's called *cultural* genocide. she didn't kill them, she just exiled and restricted them to a finite piece of land that's not their homeland. and I don't think her friends are a good way to show her leadership. when we first see her, she puts obi-wan down for him being a jedi, for his beliefs, for how he's chosen to help the galaxy.
Did you read the entire post? I have a feeling you did not.
I argued long and hard that it wasn’t a total exile - I’m pretty sure Almec was bullshitting, as he’s prone to do, because again, when facing with a representative of the Republic of course he’s doing everything to keep their political neutrality - and that Satine respected her own culture (as in: she didn’t “colonize” - settle among and establish control over (the indigenous people of an area) - anything; she reformed her own culture.)
Restricted them to a finite piece of land? Again, she gave them the healthiest world of her system, weapons, armors, a warrior governor and no oversight. That’s not restrictive - that literally sounds like a deal one would make to end a war...

in your tiny!emperor luke au, would vaderkin and bail be, like, reluctant dad friends because their kids are best friends? because that sounds HILARIOUS. and bail constantly worried that vader will discover that leia is his kid and go on a murderous rampage, you know, #justvaderthings, but vader's just sitting there. annoyed that he has to interact with humans other than luke and eirtae. and bail's trying to make small talk. and everything's awkward
... chronologically Leia and Luke will meet around the time Luke already has his girl gang/protection detail/former inquisitors in training friends so you will not only have grumpy Dad Vader sorrr of befriending Bail, but you also have Bail being high key TERRIFIED because his daughter is running around with a bunch of kids who think stabbing people with laser swords is a perfectly fine solution
And then you get him actually... bonding? With Vader? Over semi-Feral kids? It’s a confusing day

MANDO SHMI IS SO GOOD. it makes so much sense that she would be an armorer, i love the way you draw her and baby ani so much, and you're so good at drawing armor! i love the tiny little nubby horns on her helmet and its just so good!
thank you aaah!! it’s my first time drawing mandalorian armor ever, im not even that used to drawing any other type of armor really so THANK YOU it means a lot ✨ i do love mandalorian armor tho, they’ve got such an interesting structure
anyway yesss i based her off of the armorer in the show! i get the feeling that the armorer has a certain status in the covert/clan, almost like a shaman sort of leader or something like that, and i love powerful shmi, hence this 🥰💕
