do u have any fic/author recs at the moment? for any of ur fandoms!

TONS, but here's a short list of authors and fics that I adore. All of the following authors are absolute inspirations to me and I thank them for putting their creations into the world, for us to read.

Just a heads up, I adore dark content so a lot of the writers and fics I will recommend will contain said content.

@seoafin writes for Jujutsu Kaisen, but they also have some writings for Trigun. Their characterizations are incredibly on point and I adore their takes on Geto and Gojo, including the dynamics between them + the protagonist of their AU ripverse.

@strawberrygodzilla has a fic about Zenos that BEATS ASS and their character voice for Zenos (and every other character including the WOL) is so clear and accurate like every time they write Zenos's dialogue I'm like... "wow, he really WOULD say that". I've teared up several times reading their fic here, at the end of all things.

@chickenparm, whose profile I religiously check on ao3 and just discovered has a blog on tumblr, writes BANGER Genshin fanfics with to die for smut. Their fics about Childe are among my favorite. Give of Yourself has stuck with me in particular.

@softagenda has been providing the Touchstarved fandom with easily some of its best fanfictions, expanding on concepts introduced in the demo and adding some of their own world building. My favorite fic of theirs is silver linings.

@ddarker-dreams just has a way of writing and worldbuilding that really takes my breath away. The amount of depth and forethought put into her Blade fic, Nexus, still stuns and awes me a month after its completion. She's written heaps for Genshin Impact and is now starting on a JJK series. She also writes a lot about Chrollo Lucifer, from HxH. I haven't watched a single episode of the show, but she has somehow made me invested in this character. Whenever I see mention of him elsewhere, I go "ah, the man ddarker-dreams writes about".

@lorelune writes for Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and JJK. I love their work but their little blurbs they post every now and then also completely have my whole heart. their hybrid AU Blade fic hell is a hound without a chain has been living in my head ever since they dropped it. I adore their characterization of Blade and Jing Yuan in particular! Their Gojo fic dawn instinct hits me so hard.

@agent-cupcake writes for FFXIV AND JJK but I found them through Fire Emblem Three Houses. I've been following their work for awhile and I adore each and every piece. Their prose is beautiful and their dark content is to die for. I'm biased so my favorite piece is Asteria, but I also am continuously obsessed with Raison D'etre, Vae Victis (FFXIV), Femme Fatale and living idly and dying as if dreaming.

@hawnks is a fantastic writer who I discovered through her soulmate AU fics. coincide and the first law of motion are absolute classics, but she's been writing a soulmate series for Gojo which has been utterly fascinating for far. I would also like to thank her for introducing me and many others to Guideverse which I would love to write something on in the future!

Thinking about a Trigun au I made a while back that is super self indulgent with a side of projection /pos

I called it the Stale Donuts AU after the donuts I would sometimes get from H-E-B as a kid that, as far as I can remember, were always vaguely stale.

It is at its core, a modern AU–Cryptid Vash–Vashwood story hybrid hodgepodge thing that was also!!! Very much inspired by multiple fics I had either read or was reading at the time!!! And of course full of yummy delicious self indulgence and self projection with bits of me spread throughout like the stale donuts thing!!! Yippee!!!!!!

On to the bits and bops of the au itself in a very rambling way (I'm sorry):

Wolfwood is Mexican American and the main pov of the thing. He lives in an apartment with Livio, who's going to the local college (go girl go, get that higher education ✨). Wolfwood drives a motorcycle because why wouldn't he BUT he ALSO owns a motorcycle place where you can get shit repaired and customized an shit like that (I don't know vehicle things ITS A COOL IDEA I DONT KNOW IF ITS ACCURATE). Meryl also probably works there with him, because in my mind I can't for the life of me separate the thought of Meryl and driving things probably because I watched Stampede first but that's besides the point—we're ignoring that. Livio, Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly were all friends in highschool (maybe they were in a shitty band?? That's a thought for a different day) and stayed friends into their adult lives (they all care about each other so much guys). ALSO this whole thing takes place in Texas, so AT SOME POINT one of them worked at Whataburger and one of them worked at a DQ I don't know WHO WAS WHERE but at LEAST ONE OF THEM I SWEAR.

Anyways

On his way to the motorcycle shop, Wolfwood passes the H-E-B and has to drive over a short bridge. Guess where he finds Vash.

One day he's coming home from work, and as he's crossing over the bridge he suddenly stops because JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING. Illuminated by the motorcycle headlights, a large, feathered...something startles and crawls over the edge with a sound of pain, leaving behind a trail of blood. Yippee!! Vash makes an appearance!! Of course Wolfwood's freaked the fuck out by the bleeding thing under the bridge, yet for some reason he follows it anyway (I haven't really thought of anything except hey that thing looked kinda hurt and Melanie raised him with compassion ig so)(and I love stupid men). He sees that this giant bird is 100% actually kinda injured (imagine getting hit by a car) and manages to calm it down enough to help it out at least a little, but he's also kinda on his way home and can only see with a flashlight, so there's not much he can do. He does toss it a snack he found hidden in his jacket tho. After that whole cryptid nonsense, Wolfwood stops at H-E-B! (YIPPEEE!!) Livio sends him a text. "You should totally get me a donut from the bakery"

"Still can't believe you actually like those" he sends back, still getting a plain glazed for himself. He offhandedly wonders if the bird thing would like donuts.

The next morning, now armed with a first aid kit, he buys a donut and stops at the bridge, hoping the creature from before is still there. Oh hey look, the creature from before! Now that it's daytime, Wolfwood can clearly see that yeah, that thing is definitely hurt. He says hi, and the creature seems to recognize him from the night before, but still won't let him get close enough to fully see anything other than feathers and old scars. Donut time!! The perfect distraction!!! I don't know what kind of injuries Vash has, but whatever it is Wolfwood manages to patch it up at least a little bit while he's munching on the donut. I like to imagine he's at least a little bit good at caring for animals (specifically birds) because Tristamp Wolfwood taking care of Thoma chicks makes me ill (/pos) so uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh chickens. And maybe like, a cockatiel for fun. Miss Melanie had chickens and a cockatiel that the kids would help take care of. It ends up becoming a routine where Wolfwood stops at the bridge to chill with the bird cryptid every morning and evening. Eventually he ends up telling Livio, Meryl and Milly about Vash. He also very quickly figures out that Vash has human level intelligence and isn't just a giant freaky animal and Vash manages to communicate what his name is!!! Yippee!!!

In this Vash has the Big Bird™ cryptid form and a normal human one, but can't switch between them when he's injured (like being hit by a car) so it's really great that this random human guy is helping him out.

The first time Wolfwood sees Vash de-birdified is hilarious because he goes to the bridge like normal and sees feathers everywhere, no giant bird in sight, and a vaguely familiar naked blond man chilling in the middle of it all. As soon as he sees Wolfwood, his face lights up and he starts excitedly waving.

"Wolfwood!"

"Needle Noggin?!"

"Look I'm all better!!"

Plot wise, no fuckin clue where it goes from here, vibe wise fuck it we ball. All I know is hijinx ensues and it's great fun all around YIPPEEEEEEE!!!

Random Trigun AU set in Zelda BOTW I ended up coming up with after reminiscing about your art: Livio as big Lynel monster who's pretty chill after the calamity is no longer around, Wolfwood as an ex-Yiga clan member who's now bodyguard for hire, Vash as a happy go lucky wanderer who's actually some eldritch hylian/Blupee spirit hybrid, Meryl as a travelling hylian merchant/info broker with Milly as her gerudo companion.

I’m only responding rn cause it’ll be a little while before I can provide scribs but holy shit I’m all about this

Alright, so in the last post I spoke about the general setting of the trigun au in my head (name pending), and in this post im going to talk about some of the major characters:

The Winter King

Who is the Winter King? The Winter King is you! :D A little unusual but let me cook, I promise to make you cool

So as I mentioned in the previous post, the Winter King (you) are a spirit of Winter. I imagine you covered head-to-toe in furs and armour, all rimed with frost and cold as ice. (I've played a lot of FFXIV and was greatly inspired by the lvl 50 Warrior aesthetic, but the world is your oyster, think up your own outfit if you want.) Also huge. Like, 8-feet-tall huge. You are a god. You are surrounded by a blizzard where ever you go, but lately you have not been going anywhere, so the storm as slowed to a gentle snowfall, if it is there at all.

I mentioned you are a spirit of Winter, but you are also the only spirit of Winter, which makes you rather unusual (post-Summer Lord era, at least) with the hundreds of Summer-harnessing Plants, and the innumerable Spring and Autumn spirits. This means, of course, that you are very lonely; and, after the death of the Summer Lord, very sad.

So lonely and sad, that you've locked yourself away in your castle, on an island surrounded by a lake, frozen halfway, in the center of the realm of spirits. None, not even the spirits that inhabit that land surrounding your domain, have seen you leave it in centuries. Not that humans know where the realm of spirits is, much less entered it, but the point is, though the Spring and Autumn spirits may have followed you into isolation, neither humans nor spirits have seen you since the death of the Summer Lord. Even spirits who consider themselves your friends are turned away at the gates of your fortress.

You are alone, and lonely, and free to morn your former rival.

And yet, recently, you find yourself receiving visitors you did not invite, nor welcome into your home. One in particular, grows increasingly insistent of your company.

And yet, you cannot bring yourself to turn them away.

Vash the Stampede

For the purposes of this au, Vash is a genetically engineered human-Plant hybrid made in an attempt to create a new Summer god. He is also considered a failure, in that aspect, and has spent most his life living as a normal human being. He is the youngest of the hybrids, and while aware of his true nature, he does not remember a lot from the time before the project was shut down. What he does remember mostly consists of time spent with Rem and Nai.

Speaking of Nai, the two of them grew up in separate households, though they stayed in contact and hung out regularly. Or they did, in any case. Recently, their relationship has become quite strained, as Nai has been trying to push Vash into joining some weird little Summer Lord cult, and Vash already has enough trouble trying to make friends in college, thank you very much.

(I want to say he's normal human aged. One, Plants in this au aren't quite the miracle machines they are in the source material, crippled as they are by the limits of human understanding. Plus, he's a hybrid, not a full Plant. Two, I already have one sad immortal in this au, so like as much as Vash's century-and-a-half long misery contributes to his character in the source material, I think it would not hit as hard in this au. Three, I think Vash being in his mid-to-late 20s simply adds to some of the shenanery I put him through.)

"Does Vash have powers?" Not really??? None that he is aware of, at least. He's spent his life so far trying desperately to fit in, and hide away everything that makes him not normal. Any of his "powers" worth mentioning would have been so deeply repressed, he wouldn't know how to call on them, if they even existed.

The only unusual abilities he has is a strong affinity to spirits and Summer, and strange dreams about the Winter King. Not the type of dreams your thinking about!!! Totally normal and not-weird dreams about the Winter King all alone and sad in a frozen palace and they're really tall and hot and of course he has to keep them company and cheer them up, right?! Wait that sounds worse, just forget it!! Why are you looking at him like that?! Don't leave, he was just being ironic!!!

Millions Knives

Knives, like his brother, is another human-Plant hybrid made to become a Summer god, was deemed a failure, and then discarded. Unlike his brother, however, Knives remembers his early life and the events that lead to its sudden change much more vividly.

After the Summer god project was shut down, Knives was adopted into a devout, rich family, and such spent a large portion of his childhood sitting in the pews of one of the more influential churches dedicated to the splendour of Summer. Rest in piece, kid. While he doesn't necessarily believe most of what the Church preaches, there is one thing the overzealous-pastor has said that resonated with him: humans killed the Summer Lord to steal his power.

In Knives's opinion, there is no sentence that better encapsulates the vanity and hubris of humanity. Compounded by all he witnessed in the Summer god project, and the knowledge of his own nature, he comes to believe that humans are not worthy of the power of the Summer Lord. Firm in his belief, Knives spent most of his teenage years vandalizing local Plant facilities with a group of like-minded friends.

Fortunately for him, he's never really had to suffer the consequences of his rebellion, as his family was more than happy to use their wealth to keep him out of trouble, and the public unaware of his involvement. Frankly, his family seemed almost supportive of his actions. In fact, once they thought him old enough, they revealed to him that there is a whole organization that believed just as he does-- that humanity was wrong to kill the Summer Lord-- and they were striving to right that wrong by reviving the fallen god.

Knives had an even better idea. As Plant hybrids specifically designed to replace the Summer Lord, wouldn't that make Knives and Vash inheritors of His power? Summer Princes, if you will. Demi-gods with all the potential, but lacking in a means to ascend?

He has no interest in human absolution-- they are undeserving of it-- but that does not mean it could not be put to good use. How fortunate that he was adopted by a family who had already laid the groundwork.
