This is from three years ago when Maggie answered a question of mine regarding Kavinsky and if the Cabeswater and Greywaren events didn’t happen, could he have been possibly redeemed. Thought it would be fun to share since it goes into the depth of Kavinsky and Ronan’s lore together!

Maggie Stiefvater said, “I think the rules of fiction means that anyone can be redeemed if the story is written that way, right? But Kavinsky was written specifically to not be redeemed, because Ronan was going to be redeemed - it was to show you what could have happened to Ronan if he hadn't made the choice to turn towards self worth, acceptance, love, real friendship, if instead he had thrown himself into destruction, selfishness, revenge, surrounding oneself with cronies and yes men instead of people you had to respect and navigate. So storywise, Kavinsky could have been redeemed, but in context of the Dream Thieves, I think that would've been possible only if I were writing that book as a tragedy - because it would've made sense, then, to for Ronan to give up instead: they were funhouse mirrors. That's what gives DT its poignant power. The heaviness on the bitter wis why Ronan's triumph feels real.”

it’s so fun to have friends read trc because like… one of them didn’t even know that we WEREN’T supposed to think noah was a ghost from the get go. the other was like “yeah i didn’t see it coming at all honestly i forgot about him until that part” and i think those are both the most perfect response

Does anybody else feel like living Noah is/was a lot like Matthew?

Light hair, lots of energy, cares deeply for people, often overlooked or brushed off? Even the way Ronan loves both of them are very similar.

Maybe that’s why I’m okay with not having a Noah book.
