Toronto Eye Clinic: Contacts or Eye Glasses
Vision correction methods are essential for many, with eyeglasses and contact lenses being the most popular choices. Your decision should be informed by your specific eye condition, lifestyle, and personal preferences. Toronto eye clinic specialist will guide you accordingly.
Eye Condition Specifics
The type of vision impairment you have is crucial in choosing the right option. Conditions like myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia can be corrected with both glasses and contacts, but the severity of your condition might sway your choice. For example, severe astigmatism often responds better to glasses, while contacts offer a wider field of vision, ideal for active lifestyles.
Lifestyle Impact
Your daily activities play a significant role in this decision. Active individuals or those involved in sports might find contact lenses more convenient, as they don't get in the way and are less prone to damage. Conversely, glasses are a hassle-free solution for those who prefer simplicity, requiring less upkeep than contacts.
Comfort and Usage
Personal comfort should not be overlooked. Glasses can be more comfortable for those who dislike direct eye contact, whereas contacts appeal to those who prefer the feeling of not wearing glasses. The ease of use also differs; glasses are straightforward to wear and remove, whereas contacts need careful handling and maintenance.
Aesthetic Choices
Your aesthetic preference is also important. Glasses offer a range of styles and can be a fashion statement, while contact lenses maintain a natural look and can even change eye color.
Cost Considerations
Long-term costs vary between the two. Contact lenses generally incur higher ongoing costs due to replacements and cleaning solutions, whereas glasses usually have a higher initial cost but tend to last longer without recurring expenses. In some instances, your cost for both might be covered by insurance. Check Toronto eye clinic that accepts insurance for eyewear.
Health and Safety
Health and safety are paramount. Contacts require strict hygiene to prevent infections, making glasses a better option for those not comfortable with the maintenance routine. Glasses also offer protection against environmental elements like dust and wind.
Customization and Versatility
Eyeglasses and contact lenses offer varying levels of customization and versatility. For those who require different corrective strengths for activities like reading or computer work, eyeglasses can be specifically tailored with bifocals or progressive lenses. Contacts, while not offering this level of customization, do provide a consistent vision correction that isn't affected by external factors like rain or fog, which can be a significant advantage in certain environments. Additionally, the ability to wear non-prescription sunglasses or protective eyewear over contact lenses is a benefit for outdoor enthusiasts and professionals who work in varying light conditions.
Technological Advancements
The field of vision correction is continuously evolving, with technological advancements playing a significant role. Modern contact lenses are designed with materials that allow more oxygen to pass through, increasing comfort and reducing the risk of eye infections. Similarly, eyeglasses have seen innovations like anti-reflective coatings, blue light filtering, and lighter, more durable frame materials. These technological advancements mean that both options are now more comfortable, effective, and adaptable to a variety of lifestyles than ever before.
The choice between eyeglasses and contact lenses is deeply personal, influenced by factors such as your specific eye condition as diagnosed at a Toronto eye clinic, lifestyle, comfort, aesthetic preferences, cost, and health considerations. Consulting with an eye care professional can provide tailored advice, ensuring you make a choice that enhances your vision and fits your.

It’s Not Christmas Without You— Quinn Hughes
Tumblr media
Summary: Your seasonal depression gets the best of your relationship leading to an awkward Christmas
Content Warnings: Seasonal depression, panic & anxiety attacks, use of antidepressants, ocd, chemical imbalance, angsty hughes brothers
Pairing; Ex Gf! Reader x Quinn Hughes
September
You had never quite understood why your brain felt so hardwired to the point you couldn’t comprehend anything happening around you. It affected everything you did, but no one could put their finger on why sometimes things got to be much for you it brought you to tears. For the most part, your boyfriend Quinn tried to help you but when the weather in Vancouver shifted just as he’d been named captain. He just couldn’t do it anymore, he tried but it was draining him.
You sat cross legged in the center of Quinn’s living room, reorganizing his CD collection for the third time this week. Quinn sighed as he entered his apartment, coming home from a rough roadie, all he wanted was to take a scorching shower and talk to you while you guys laid in his bed watching a cheesy movie. He didn’t utter a word as he walked past to his room and dropped his stuff off before returning to his living room and letting out a sigh, “The CDS haven’t magically moved since Tuesday dollface.”
You ignored your boyfriend, again. Quinn blew out a breath he’d been holding in for god knows how long, “I don’t think I can do this anymore.” He expected you to protest against him trying to break up with him, but you didn’t. Which somehow made Quinn more upset at the entire ordeal, “So your fine with just throwing away the last 6 years?” You kept quiet, knowing that if you dared to speak you would say something that you and Quinn couldn’t come back from. So you stayed silent as you stood up and slipped on your shoes and grabbed your coat and walked out of Quinn’s apartment and his life.
You returned to your shared loft with your friend Tess and finally let your composure fall. A wretched sob ripped through your chest as you leaned against the door and slid to sit against the wall. Tess hurried out of her bedroom and was at your side in seconds, “Oh honey. It’s okay.” You felt like someone was wrapping barbed wire around your throat, “I can’t, I just don’t know what’s wrong with me. Something isn’t right Tess.” Your breathing began to quicken as your chest tightened. Tess rubbed your back reassuringly, “I got you.” You closed your eyes and focused on your breathing. Once you were calm you turned to Tess, “Quinn and I broke up. I think I need to go home and get help.” And that was exactly what you did.
You went back to Toronto and moved back into your childhood bedroom, went to a neurologist and found out that your brain had an insufficient amount of neurotransmitters which could play part in your moods. The doctor told you that you needed to boost your serotonin and dopamine levels and prescribed you antidepressants and referred you to a women’s mental health clinic. You noticed slowly that your mood became less negative and you were able to focus better. But you also noticed that you began to get thinner and no matter what you did it never seemed like you gained weight.
December
You were reluctant to go to the Hughes Christmas dinner, although Ellen had reassured you that you were more than welcome. You still had your bad days and didn’t know if being around Quinn would make you snap and you didn’t want to snap at him. So you told your mother you’d think about it but that she should go. Which she did. You mother and Ellen were in grossed in a conversation over linens when Luke finally mentioned you, “So I guess she really doesn’t have anything to say to you Quinn. She would never miss out on Dad’s meatballs.” Quinn shot his brother a glare as your mother spoke softly, “She’s just having a hard time right now, her meds are messing with her.” Ellen smiled solemnly, “How is she adjusting to her antidepressants?”
Quinn looked taken aback learning your on antidepressants now, “Is she okay?” Your mom smiled as she lifted her wine glass to her lips, “Her doctor told her she doesn’t have sufficient neurotransmitters and it’s a chemical imbalance in her brain that’s made her feel like this all these years. The doctor said there’s a good chance coupled with the harsh weather and seasonal depression that’s what made her feel so poorly. Nothing you could have done would have helped Quinn.” Jack rolled his eyes subtly, “So because she’s mentally not okay, we’re supposed to be fine with her destroying Quinn?” Ellen glared at her middle child, “Jack! If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say sit.”
You stared at the stack of wrapped gifts you had gotten for each member of the Hughes family. You sighed as you slid off the couch and pulled on a dark red sweater and some jeans and took the gifts to your car and made your way to the Hughes family home. You were unsure of what would happen when you walked in but you were facing your fears today. You rang the doorbell, not expecting Quinn to be on the other side of the door.
His eyes held an unreadable expression that you had grown to miss. You were almost positive that you had lost your voice when he spoke, “Hey.” You smiled, “Hi, you look uh great.” Quinn rubbed his neck as a deep blush rolled over his cheeks, “Thanks. You do too.” He took some of the gifts as you I walked inside the house and placed your gifts with the rest of the gifts under the tree. You slipped your coat off and hung it in the closet with the others. Quinn frowned ever so slightly when he took note of how the jeans that had once hugged your body in all the right places were loose on you and how you looked at him like you might break if you looked at him long enough.
Ellen’s voice rang out from the dining room, “Who was it honey?” You smiled warmly as you entered the dining room behind Quinn, “Hi.” Ellen’s eyes glimmered with excitement as she hopped up and pulled you into a bone crushing hug, “We’re so glad you could make it after all. Right guys?” The Hughes men muttered out agreements. You sat down at the only empty seat which, as the universe was punishing you, was directly across from Jack with Quinn sitting beside you. Conversation flowed between you and everyone besides Jack and Quinn.
Jack spoke up in condescending tone, “So Y/N what have you been up to since you and Quinn broke up?” Jack let out a groan as Quinn swiftly kicked him underneath the table. You felt your smile drop, “I moved back home like 3 days after. I’ve been getting a lot of help. Working on understanding my feelings.” Jack hummed, “Seeing anyone? You sure are slimming down.” You tensed as you drew in a deep breath, “Nope. Wouldn’t be fair to a poor guy. I’m still in love with someone and I’m not sure relationships are for me. But can we just talk about your game against the Red Wings? I mean I was on my seat the entire time.”
Jack’s smirk fell, “You still watch my games?” You shrugged, “I watched Trev kick your ass. I also watched Quinn hand the Sharks the biggest loss. I didn’t stop watching hockey because I got broken up with.” You melted into Quinn’s touch as he placed a hand on your thigh. He mouthed inaudibly, ‘Thank you’ Dinner ended and Ellen insisted on going straight to presents. You smiled warmly as Jack and Luke opened their gifts from you. You You played more into a joke with Jack. It was a shirt that read ‘Straight Outta The Penalty Box.’ Jack’s gift sent his brother’s into laughter while Jack sent you a playful eye roll, “Now I know she actually watches my games still.” Luke’s gift seemed to be more fitting for him, he opened the box and ran his fingers over the soft tie that was adorned with red hockey sticks, “Thank you.” You smiled as Quinn picked up his gift from you, “I didn’t know what to get you so with my luck you’ll probably hate it.”
Quinn opened the box and his eyes softened as he looked at the gift, “You remembered. Why would I hate this?” He pulled out the large cooling weighted blanket. You barely remembered him mentioning wanting one. Apparently your subconscious remembered. Quinn’s eyes softened as you began to tidy up the wrapping paper as everyone continued to open gifts.
Without being noticed Quinn slipped into his childhood bedroom and opened his bag and pulled out a small gift wrapped box. He slipped it into his pocket and returned to the living room. His eyes immediately were on you as you clasped a necklace around his mother’s neck. Soon enough all the gifts were opened and Quinn spoke warmly, “I actually have a gift for you Y/N.” Your eyes widened, “O-okay.” Quinn slipped the small box from his pocket and placed it in your hand. By the size alone you knew it was jewelry of some sort.
You opened the box and your eyes widened and swelled with tears, “You can’t. Not with how horrible I was to you.” Quinn shook his head, “No I can. I have loved you since I have known you. I don’t care if your going through the worst thing possible. I love you and I just wanna be there for you no matter what. For the rest of my life. I want to be your husband. Marry me.” Your eyes welled, “I don’t know if I can give you the life you want Quinn.” Quinn shook his head as he pulled you closer to him, which you didn’t think was humanly possible, “The life I want is waking up to you pressing your ice cold feet to my legs to warm them up, the life I want is holding your purse so you can stop and pet every stray cat you see. The life I want is anytime and everything as long as you are there. You are the one good thing in my life.” You sniffled, “Fine I’ll marry you.”

Will bug and her family get their rainbow baby?
🫶🏼🌈
-
You held your breath, watching the screen beside you contently. Your heart dropped when you couldn’t hear it.
No heartbeat.
The technician continued to fiddle around with the wand until everything stopped.
thump thump thump
Your hand reached your mouth and you let out a sob, a sob of relief.
“That’s a healthy baby right there! and judging by the measurements we are looking at a june fourteenth due date”
The technician excused herself for a moment leaving you alone. You cleaned yourself up and walked out to reception.
Your doctor gave you all the reassurance you needed. The miscarriage was a one off, this was a healthy baby.
Arriving home you found the kids outside playing in the snow, Blu was in his little snow suit and having not long learned to walk he wasn’t having the best luck trailing through the snow.
“Where’s daddy?” You asked, catching everyone’s attention.
Blu smiled “Mama” reaching out for you to lift him up.
Bug wiped the snow from herself and pointed inside “He’s making cheeses and soup!”
You leaned down, wiping the snow from her nose which made her giggle before you kissed it “Okay, you be good! We’ll call you when lunch is ready”
Entering the kitchen you sat Blu on the worktop to take off his snowsuit.
“Smells good” you commented, catching Quinn by surprise.
“You’re back! Kids were out playing I thought I should maybe warm them up a bit. Hey little man, you cold?”
Blu had no idea what his dad was saying just smiling at him and leaning into you.
“How was the doctors? Did you get what you needed?”
You paused for a moment, second guessing what you were about to do. Instead, you reached into your bag and pulled out the stack of things your doctor gave you.
“Yeah, about that… I have something I need to tell you”
That sentence alone was enough for him to move the pan from the stove and turn to face you fully.
“What? What is it?”
By this point Blu had drifted off to sleep on your shoulder. Quinn took a mental image of the sweet moment before focusing on your face.
“I was at the woman’s clinic-“
“Is everything alright? Is it the bleeding again? Because I think if they can’t do anything we should go to that one in Toronto because I looked it up and spoke to Willy he said-“
You interrupted his very well intentioned speech by pulling out and displaying the sonogram.
Quinn stopped. He looked at the image then at you for a few moments.
The silence was killing you.
“What- wh, are you?”
You nodded, tears filling your eyes “We’re pregnant Quinn, we’re having a baby”
He carefully placed his hands on your face and pulled you in to kiss him “I love you so much”
You wiped the tears rolling down his cheeks away before he crouched down, lifted your hoodie and kissed the essentially flat surface “You stay right there, no surprises this time. We love you so much already”
The kids were called in for lunch soon after, sitting around the table munching away you couldn’t help but feel so much love for this family of yours.
When you did decide to tell the kids, they were ecstatic. Kissing your belly, laying on it and even Blu learned to say Baby.
“We’re lucky parents, eh?”
“The luckiest”

OC-tober Day 4: Waking up from a nightmare
@icannotreadcursive knows what people want, and what people want is PTSD. (Though actually neither of these guys meets the clinical definition.) This scene will probably be in the draft.
Tom jolted awake, then found himself in silence. He wasn't sure what had woken him.
He was in a strange bed, alone. It took him a moment to orient himself. 1920. Toronto. Fred’s apartment.
Fred wasn’t there. Tom listened, but he couldn’t hear anything now. There was a faint strip of light under the door.
Tom wasn’t used to staying the night with men. He didn’t know if he ought to go poking around Fred’s home, though wartime instincts urged him to get up and see if anything was amiss. He thought about trying to go back to sleep, but when he shut his eyes he remembered hazy dream-images of Will’s face, and confused descriptions of corruption and—He got out of bed and pulled his trousers on.
When he looked into the sitting room, Fred was smoking out the window, wrapped in a dressing gown. A lock of his normally smooth hair fell over his forehead, and his sharp features were lit up from the streetlight outside, and Tom took a moment to just gaze at him before Fred noticed he was there.
“Did I wake you up?” Fred asked. “I’m terribly sorry. Dropped a spoon.”
“That’s all right. Why are you awake?”
Fred shrugged. Tom realized the obvious answer a second later and added, “Memories?”
“Indeed.” He sighed. “Care for a cup of tea?”
Tom heard a kettle heating up in the kitchen. “What time is it?”
“Just after three ack emma, I’m afraid.”
Well, Tom thought, it was Saturday tomorrow, and he had no place to lecture Fred about his sleep. “Why not.”
Fred put out his cigarette and went into the kitchen. Tom heard various quiet clatterings in the next room as the kettle came to a boil.

i know you guys are excited for astoria (2015), but my heart says it’s time for
a non-exhaustive list of things i love about fix me (2006):
- i suppose here’s as good a place as any to mention that the reason i embarked on my decent into marianas trench ferality was this interview maitreyi ramakrishnan did about five spots in toronto that hold personal significance to her (shoutout to any of you who’ve perused my blog after reading one of the lists to find next to no music-related content but a staggering amount of netflix’s never have i ever instead). the way she spoke of being profoundly starstruck by josh ramsay and her shock that the interviewer hadn’t heard of canadian legends marianas trench got me curious, so i downloaded their first album and, well. you can infer where the story goes from there.
- it’s hard to articulate the lightening-in-a-bottle feeling i got as soon as i hit play on this album, but there was an immediate kinship, a sense that this music was made for me to find and fall in love with. i submitted to the mortifying ordeal of listening to new music and am still reaping the rewards of insanity ✌️, pop-punk music my beloved!! etc. etc. this album holds a special place in my heart, as part of the marianas trench discography as well as in the library of all albums i love
- anyway, this’ll be a familiar refrain for you at this point but, motifs!!! this album’s interest in the unglamorous and sickening work of rehabilitation of the self lives in the thread of clinical language woven throughout, and i think that’s neat!
- the way the deconstruction of the patient’s former identity as sick makes this album the perfect complement to masterpiece theatre (2009), where we explore of their newly constructed identity as performer
“say anything”
- maybe if i loved “say anything” less, i’d be able to talk about it more (she says, just before dedicating hundreds of words to unpacking everything she loves about “say anything”)
- if you haven’t noticed by this point, i’m not a musician. in fact, despite being a theater kid for many years in my youth, i can’t even read sheet music. so when i engage in music appreciation, it’s largely with an english major’s eye and sensibilities - which means reading depth and themes (themes!!!) into lyrics rather than being able to articulate what the music itself does to enhance the meaning of the song (despite the fact that it obviously does where josh ramsay et. al. are concerned - their work would hardly render me as crazed as it does if every component weren’t working in glorious tandem). the reason i’m bringing this up is to emphasize just how fucking hard marianas trench rammed into me as a band with i can take it if you need to take this / out on someone.
- like, part of the appeal was definitely because i went into my listening experience with ‘thinking about blorbo’ disease and this lyric offers a lot of mileage there, and part of my lingering fixation has to do with the irony of the patient offering this when he’s clearly hanging on to his own sense of self and well-being by the thinnest of fraying threads. but mostly? it’s the tenderly whispered promise of it - the invitation to pour myself into this music, it has the capacity and the inclination to hold me together - being fulfilled ad infinitum
- all that said, i obviously and absolutely count the intro of this song among the band’s captivating prologues, if more as a prologue for their entire catalogue than as one that’s album-specific
- when the guitar, drums, etc. crash into the song!!!
- the extreme extreme aughts pop-punk energy of the first verse
Tumblr media
like, they truly bottled the Moment with this
- on the subject of the first verse, it also bottles the patient’s over-arching conflict for the album, namely how he feels the pressure to rehabilitate for his loved ones even though that isn’t enough on its own, because so much of his identity is tied up in the self-destruction
- that one stings a little for being one of the first lyrics to capture the clinical/hospital motif as applied to reconstruction of self image, evoking a doctor warning you before they stick you with a needle
- how much catharsis sing-shouting along to this is where i scream from affords me. who needs therapy, this song will fix me (😏)
- something about the way lines like i don’t expect but try me and you can take it all away and i’ll miss don’t have explicit objects yet still get their meaning across lights my brain up with good chemicals in a way to which no drug high could compare
- the line there’s a little bit of you in all this for so many reasons!! punchy (‘don’t you get off thinking you have no hand in my tendency toward self-harm’) and tender (we are comprised of bits of every person we’ve ever loved) and blorbo-related alike
- the way determination to rehabilitate the self lives in there’s a better bit of me to see yet / ‘cause you haven’t seen any of my best
- the lyrics everybody wants a piece of you, every- / one takes a piece of me for how they introduce the motif i brought up in the masterpiece theater (2009) list: the patient/performer’s tendency to see his identity as bite-size pieces, loosely connected and finite in number (and i love love love the way each album having a distinct speaker and identity while also clearly drawing on and feeding into a singular mythology also plays into this motif)
- the way this part of the bridge says consonant👏 rights👏
Tumblr media
- the way this part of the bridge clues the audience into the fact that this is well-trod ground for the patient, this journey of rehabilitation. the difference this time is the pieces of self are dwindling in number
Tumblr media
also, again with the phrases that have no stated object but prompt you to fill in the blanks like the bangingest mad-lib
- the guitar part that always takes us from the pre-chorus into the chorus getting it’s moment in the spotlight!!! the compulsion i have to headbang along every time!!!!
- the lil note variation in the final little bit of you in all this!!!!!!
- outro gives me shivers it’s not enough to listen to this song i need to burrow inside until i hit the lava-filled core
- just. fucking epic from start to finish sorry if you’re normal about this song couldn’t be me
+ bonus: the performance of “say anything” (and “ever after” let’s be real) from the ‘live from inside’ concert solidified the pink and black flying v as my favorite from the guitar vault iykyk
“decided to break it”
- dialogue from recording sessions making the final mix ❤️
- the inherent eroticism of i’m the bad seed, i think i swallowed it whole (why are you booing me, i’m right?)
- matt webb. period.
- the way the momentum of the song inspires shoulder wiggles to the point where i turn into that one gif of shaq every time. you know the one.
- the tambourine embellishments on the chorus!!
- how satisfying it is to sing along to the bridge 🎶dahh-owOWowyehhOWooowOWWWoooOOOOWN🎶
- the scream of the penultimate ignore
- how well this song evokes frustration and being at the end of your tether in general while also being a fuckin bop
- the way they all bite off the it of the outro
Tumblr media
and also how this line reads as the patient breaking off connections with the things/people that frustrate his rehabilitation and the way the performance emphasizes that there’s nothing demure or easy about the decision
“september”
- i was born in early september and am a winter-lovin’ girlie and i’ve always felt like the world owes it to me to have moved onto chillier weather by the time my birthday rolls around even though it never does because my birthday takes place when it is undeniably summer so this song would obviously play over the opening credits in the movie about my life and i have to stan
- anyway, the way the title and the chorus evoke a shift in season, specifically from summer to autumn, a time of both bounty and decay, and how that symbolic dissonance emphasizes the nature of the patient’s journey ahead (can’t erase the way it pulls when seasons change, indeed)
- speaking of the journey ahead sucking in direct proportion to how essential it is to have gone on the journey, clap your hands if you feel the significance of another piece of me is gone again and how the patient’s identity being tied to his sickness means that committing himself to get better necessitates giving up an integral part of his personhood (👏👏👏)
- the way the line and you can leave it if it’s easier tastes
- how the pre-chorus
Tumblr media
has the power to transform me into someone with 2008 emo bangs on the spot and like, legally, you have to wail this at the top of your lungs you have to be over-the-top embarrassing about it that’s just the law
- the way there’s something mildly unsettling about the break in the line this sun is melting my / skin that makes me itchy to escape from underneath my own skin and is therefore so, so unspeakably perfect
- anyway, just wanna sit with the season metaphor some more
Tumblr media
and how the exhaustion of the blaring sun gives way to the promise of new life, what’s old being washed away by the rain
- the bite down hard, bite down being another prime example of the medical motif and how the screams that echo after this line make it especially cheeky and dark. none of the patient’s pain has actually been muffled.
- on that note, the way, sonically, the whole song feels like violent thrashing against the pain that necessarily comes with destroying a part of yourself, even a part you’re better off without
“alibis”
- in terms of the marianas trench albums’ first-act ballad hierarchy, “alibis” tops my chart most days, we respect a classic in this house
- just like “september” sounds exactly like the stage of the journey it’s meant to represent, “alibis” evokes thoughtful reflection as the patient contemplates what identity he wants to construct from here really effectively
- how gEnDeR the line wearing my best little girl pout is
- the way the refrain all my faces are alibis slots quite nicely in with the ‘identity as fractured pieces’ motif
- shoutout to this verse
Tumblr media
because it’s my favorite, but also because it marks a shift in perspective for the patient. renouncing the sickness doesn’t mean it stops being a part of him, after all. those impulses live so deep within him as to be phantom sensations
- the way the bridge is like. fuck subtext, we ball
Tumblr media
if the patient is not his old self, but also not not his old self...what does that make him?
“shake tramp”
disclaimer: this song didn’t age well. it’s a certified banger!!, and the obnoxiousness is definitely intentional in a way that shields the whole thing with irony, but i still think the language having a different cultural acceptability today than it did in 2006 means this song has a high barrier of entry for new listeners. speaking from experience, of course - once upon a time, this was my most skipped marianas trench song... and then i watched their performance of it for the ‘live from inside’ concert and i was like. oh. oh.
- the earworm of an intro!!! fun fact about me: i get drunk and my brain starts playing the “shake tramp” intro on loop forever and i absolutely make it everyone else’s problem
- BOP BOP BOP BUH-DAH-DOP BOP BOP BUH-DAH-DOP BOP BOP BUH-DAH-DA BAH-DAH-DA BOP
- the way the drums evoke getting relentlessly stomped upon
- the line and break my knees to get release for how succinctly it captures the patient’s relationship to self-destruction
- how you needed some just to take you from tastes. also, hello object-less lyrics, i am snorting you up i am transcending this plane of reality
- how galaxy-brained bleeding the lines between sore and sorry is because it doesn’t really give you the time to sit with the shock of and i hit you more, is your face still sore? before it’s apologizing for the abuse of it
- for as much as i feel like this track is a glaring detour in the context of the album as a whole, i like how this part of the pre-chorus
Tumblr media
arguably ties us back to the fourth verse from “alibis”
- what a cheap perfume, i hate this room because i am once again sprouting my emo bangs and shouting this at the top of my lungs, throwing my whole pussy into the bitchy energy
- being called little handshake tramp like, this better not awaken anything in me........
- the backing i’m so sorrys
- anyway, wild how a track from masterpiece theatre (2009) ended up on fix me (2006), am i right?
“low”
- the way this part of the first verse
Tumblr media
establishes where we are on the journey to rehabilitation. namely, that the patient’s reached a kind of plateau and is having trouble holding onto the desire to change when they miss the clarity of the self-destruction
- the way the chorus reinforces this
Tumblr media
like, it should be easy to stay the course, but it’s depressing to feel like he’s stopped making much progress (dude’s definitely thinking about break[ing his] knees to get release)
- sometimes the bridge just fucking hits. i sure do get so tired, tired. i Sure Do.
- the resonating guitar transitioning us into “push” is something i like a normal amount!
“push”
- the weird cross between whimpering and moaning that happens during the intro 😳
- the way the music explodes outward for the pre-chorus, the way the hey explodes out of the patient (i DO feel it now, i DO)
- up against the wall, you say? 😳
- the post-chorus push 😳
- the gritted-teeth performance of using like it’s goin outta style
- woof.
Tumblr media
- the switch from and you’re getting sick / and you’re feeling it to and you’re getting stuck / and you fucked it up (any time josh ramsay et. al. drop a ‘fuck’ into a song, really 😳)
- matt webb. period.
“far from here”
- hey, now that we’re flirting with relapse, let’s reckon with parental disappointment! i bet that’ll do wonders for the patient’s commitment to rehabilitation!
- god, but all the complicated emotions that exist on the spectrum from ‘it’s partially your fault i am this way’ to the unconditional love felt by the patient in verse two
Tumblr media
how are the patient’s parents still able to believe he’ll get better when he’s kept them waiting for so long, when he’s still so far away from true rehabilitation, when the waiting only hurts them more the longer it goes on?
- the way we start the final rendition of the chorus quiet, introspective, until we get to the line i laughed aloud to drown it out when the music gets boisterous again, drowning out the thoughtfulness of before. what could it mean what could it all mean?
“vertigo”
- relapse, that’s what it means!
- always and forever obsessed with the snottiness of you got here just in time to see everything fall apart / i’m not upset at all. sure, champ!
- how the first pre-chorus
Tumblr media
tells us once again that the external pressure from loved ones is not enough for - and is perhaps actively detrimental to - lasting change. with everyone’s eyes on him, the patient can’t muster more than the admission that maybe [he] could want [to change] more
- dizzied up in my never try because it makes my head spin!!! we’re getting caught in the destructive cycle!!! vertigo!!!!
- the way the distinct parts of the song (verse, pre-chorus, chorus, etc.) all bleed into each other and how that complements the sense of lost control with which the patient’s grappling
- speaking of, there’s this part
Tumblr media
and how it makes the strongest case yet for the external pressure causing active harm to the patient’s rehabilitation. as long as he doesn’t grow too sensitive to the disappointment, he can always try
 - not another piece of him......
Tumblr media
- the switch from maybe i could want it more to maybe i could miss it more and how that communicates the way the starting point and the goal of the rehabilitation have become confused in the patient’s mind. lost in the vertigo, it all starts to blur together and look the same and you can’t stay on a path to recovery if you’ve fallen down a hole.
- the do do do do dos bop
- the way the song seems to flatline for a measure (heartbeat...) before coming back to life with one last rendition of the chorus
- the defeat that lives in so what’s a little vertigo? the patient has resigned himself to the downward pull of self-destruction
“alive again”
- the way the second verse
Tumblr media
is the patient talking to himself, the fractured pieces of identity that want wildly different things yet can’t seem to find any satisfying way to stop life from hurting so much in conversation
- sometimes it hurts, but that’s no worse / than all those times i guess it works and how the patient is acknowledging that the self-destruction fails him as much as it provides clarity. the way that doesn’t get him anywhere new because the end result is the same: it hurts, it hurts, it hurts.
- the way the patient walk[ing] around like [he’s] alive again while the sickness inside of him just won’t die plays with language, because his rehabilitation is actually what’s on its deathbed, his sickness is actually what’s thriving and alive. brb need to fling myself into the sun!
- i’m fading ending the song on a dreadful chill, on a dwindling sense of any self at all
“skin & bones”
- the way turn all the water on / and bury that sound is reminiscent of the “september” chorus, only here, the healing properties of the water have been turned on their head, enabling instead of revitalizing
- how, with all this talk of fractured identity, we don’t look into a mirror until here at the end
Tumblr media
so naturally, this part is loaded with meaning. the tell me you can see feels like the patient pleading with his reflection to reinforce the idea that sickness is his truest self even though he knows it’s not (lie to me).
- thin / where the hell have you been? and how it’s the patient greeting an old friend with equal parts relief and anger in a way that catches me in the gut every freaking time, with every rendition
- fucking!! it all looks so big / never mind, i don’t feel anything and how evocative the one-two punch of this is!! numbness as an empty, hollow sanctuary from the horrors of being a person
- the way laughin’ like it works is reminiscent of “far from here” and now we’ve gone and admitted that the patient could never actually drown out the noise of everyone else’s concern, could never actually pretend like going on this way was a viable option
- the patient’s declaration that it’s too fucking easy (to turn to the self-destruction) bringing to mind how rehabilitation should have been easy in “low” and how the injustice in the truth of that hurts, hurts, hurts
- how all these echoed moments reinforce the cyclical nature of the patient’s journey to rehabilitate - commitment to change and relapse and hitting bottom and commitment to change and relapse and here he is now, once again hitting bottom
- the scorched-earth outro (i will burn all this, i will burn all this, i will burn all this) being at once dark and hopeful. maybe actively sacrificing the last piece of his identity instead of watching it get consumed by the cycle means he’s truly done with the old, sick self, but maybe it’s just another commitment to change that can’t and won’t pan out.
in conclusion: this album is conceptually tighter than i usually give it credit for - the irony being that, instead of fixing me, it repeatedly breaks my heart over the course of a listen. four out of five stars, would submit to being driven actively insane again (and again and again and again).

Dry Eye Clinic Toronto: Everything You Need to Know About Dry Eye
Dry eye syndrome, a prevalent ocular condition, manifests when the lacrimal system fails to adequately lubricate the eyes. While it may appear trivial, this affliction can significantly impede daily functioning, causing discomfort, visual disturbances, and hindering routine activities. This discourse aims to dissect the etiology, manifestations, and therapeutic modalities pertinent to dry eye syndrome to furnish a scholarly comprehension for its management and mitigation ahead of your clinical appoint at a dry eye clinic Toronto.
Understanding Dry Eye: Etiology and Clinical Presentation
The genesis of dry eye syndrome is multifaceted, comprising age-related changes, systemic ailments, environmental triggers, and lifestyle predilections. Advanced age precipitates diminished tear production, elevating susceptibility to dry eye syndrome. Concurrently, protracted exposure to digital screens, ambient pollutants, and contact lens wear can exacerbate ocular desiccation.
Clinical manifestations of dry eye syndrome diagnosed at a dry eye clinic Toronto encompass a spectrum of symptoms:
• Ocular irritation typified by a sensation of stinging or burning
• Conjunctival injection indicative of ocular inflammation
• Photophobia attributable to corneal exposure and compromised tear film stability
• Visual blurring emanating from irregularities in tear composition and distribution
• Ocular fatigue consequent to prolonged visual tasks
• Paradoxical reflex tearing elicited by ocular surface irritation
Timely recognition of these manifestations is imperative to institute efficacious therapeutic interventions.
Diagnostic Paradigm and Therapeutic Armamentarium
The diagnostic algorithm for dry eye syndrome mandates a judicious amalgamation of clinical acumen, ancillary tests, and patient-reported symptoms. Comprehensive ocular examination, tear film assessment, and evaluation of tear osmolarity facilitate accurate diagnosis and delineation of disease severity.
Therapeutic interventions for dry eye syndrome encompass a multifaceted approach tailored to individualized patient needs:
• Pharmacologic agents: Lubricating eye drops, both over-the-counter and prescription formulations, serve as frontline therapy to ameliorate ocular discomfort and enhance tear film stability.
• Anti-inflammatory therapy: Topical corticosteroids and cyclosporine A are efficacious in mitigating ocular surface inflammation and augmenting tear production.
• Punctal occlusion: Surgical or temporary insertion of punctal plugs abrogates tear drainage, thereby augmenting tear retention and ocular surface lubrication.
• Environmental modifications: Lifestyle adjustments such as periodic visual breaks, ocular hygiene practices, and environmental optimization can mitigate dry eye symptomatology.
Prophylactic Measures and Prognostic Considerations
Preventive strategies play a pivotal role in mitigating the morbidity associated with dry eye syndrome. Hydration maintenance, ergonomic visual habits, and ocular protection from environmental insults are indispensable tenets of dry eye prophylaxis.
In conclusion, dry eye syndrome as observed at a dry eye clinic Toronto represents a ubiquitous ocular malady with far-reaching ramifications. A nuanced understanding of its pathogenesis, clinical features, and therapeutic modalities empowers healthcare practitioners to deliver comprehensive management strategies. By embracing a holistic approach encompassing preventive measures and therapeutic interventions, individuals afflicted with dry eye syndrome can attain optimal ocular health and alleviate the burdens imposed by this debilitating condition.

okay sooooo i went to see a psychologist two years ago and she said that i fulfilled the criteria for autism. but then i went to see another psychologist and she said that i wasn’t neurodivergent. it’s kinda confusing but maybe it’s because in the second assessment i was masking my symptoms a lot more because i was a lot more aware of them???because college has been incredibly difficult for me with the disruption in my routine and also i’ve always had an issue with food and sensory issues. my mum thought that i was autistic when i was 15 because of my problems with food. i also have some hyper mobility and when i was younger i saw a speech therapist and i had additional classes for maths because i found it difficult. i also have bad hand eye coordination and find sports difficult.. also idk if this classifies as a special interest or not but when i was 17 i loved gilmore girls.
i watched it once and then during the summertime i watched it four times back to back, also bought all seven seasons on dvd. another thing about me is that this summer i loved stranger things so much that i would spend hours on end analysing it.
do you think that’s similar to anyone else’s experiences on here ??? i’m a little thrown off because of what the second psychologist said😭 but also maybe this is just me but does anyone on here find that people who are loud and bubbly are overwhelming to be around… because they’re always talking and it can be quite overwhelming… and they can just be so bubbly that it’s hard to keep up… they’re so loud that it’s hard to be around them…
i also find the sound of people eating so annoying like the texture and sound is just too much for me also the smells , i find really hard to deal with unless it’s something nice like chocolate or pizza. i just feel like i can get so attached to people really easily and they just aren’t like that and tend to take advantage of me😭😭 but idk if i’m autistic🫠🫠 does anyone find that this relates to them too?obvi you can’t diagnose me, just wondering if anyone relates.
also, i did a couple of tests on here and here are my results.
autism spectrum quotient: 27 out of 50
RAADS-R: 140 out of 227
empathy quotient: 26 out of 80
clinical partners test: 20 out of 30
aspie quiz: 127 of 200
AQ 10: 5 out of 10
AQ: 23
toronto empathy quotient: 60 out of 64
masking test: 131
hey :)
i definitely think your masking in your second appointment contributed to your psychologist saying they don’t believe you’re neurodivergent
as for relatability to what you’re saying, i pretty much relate to all of it:
- i love being friends with bubbly people, but sometimes being around them when i’m already overstimulated makes things excessively difficult
- i hate, hate, HATE the sound of chewing. like once i full-on screamed at my brother just because he was eating, just eating
- smell is a really, really big thing for me personally. it really wasn’t until recently, but it has resulted in me walking around my own home with a mask on (lathered in Aveeno baby lavender lotion)
- i open up to people stupid quickly, ending in hella over-sharing because i just don’t know the correct amount of information to tell someone at a time. people may have used this against me at certain points in time, but i genuinely could have not noticed 😭
- i definitely get your stranger things special interest, because that was me with “avatar: the last airbender” i mean i could not go 40 minutes without talking about that damn show much less thinking about it
