LUCIFER
It was late in the pride ring as you snuck out of the hotel wanting to get snacks and a drink. I mean shit you died in the late 2010’s, you’re use to this shit. So you went to a store as you didn’t see an older sinner smirk, slowly gazing your body up and down as you grab a pair of chips and energy soda.
“Hey sweetie…” the older sinner says as he slowly appears behind you. You divest even bother to look at him as you felt him get closer. You whipped around and glare at him only to see such an ugly sinner who looks homeless as well.
“Hey now, I’m not gonna harm you.” The man says grabbing your arm and pulling you toward him. “I just wanna see your pretty face little boy/girl.” Your eyes widened shocked. You tried to pull your arm as he tugs tighter. You yelled for him to let you go as he dragged you out the store. You were not gonna let some creep take you! So you bit his arm hard as fuck. He let you go, but not without punching you.
You ate the punch but start to run to the hotel you know and love. You ran as your heart beat for safety and away from anything else. You didn’t think it would be like this, but what could you except. This is hell itself. There’s a lot of ass holes and bastards that deserve to be here.
You ran inside ignoring the look of a certain king who was sitting down in the lounge room, he swore he saw tears fall down your cheeks. He felt his heart ache to know what was wrong with you as he slowly followed after you.
A soft knock was heard as you look up to see the king of hell, the man who always gave you ducks when you first came here. “Kid are you okay? I heard you cry?” He said worried seeing you tear up hearing his worried voice. It wasn’t making it better as you ran into his arms. He was move back a bit at your usually tough attire cracking into a soft and scared one. Now he was concerned.
He set you back in bed as you rant out about what happened, even giving a description of what he looked like. After a bit of comfort in for Lucifer and him petting your back a lot. You sniffled a little, feeling better than what you felt as Lucifer smiled at you sleeping against his lap. He sighs sensing you sleeping as he poofs away from your sleeping body.
“DONT worry kid…that bastard isn’t going to see another hellish day…” Lucifer says walking out of the hotel as his hat overcasted his face.
It was a new day as you woke up to play your regular tv show only for the news to play. “BREAKING 666 NEWS!!! ALLEGED PEDOPHILE DEAD AT GRIMM’S MARKET AS HIS HEAD WAS-” the news was cut off by Lucifer who had a guilty expression as you had a wide eye expression shocked that the bastard got some quick karma.
ALASTOR
You and alastor went on a walk together as he wanted you to get off your pesky small picture rectangle. He’s talking about your damn phone.💀
“And I told the fellow gentleman to make my meat, medium rar-” before Alastor could finish his story about how he went to a restaurant. You groaned tired of this, you wanted to sleep and be on your hell phone since you miss the human world.
Alastor rolls his eyes with a smile, he pinches your cheek making you huff. “No need for an attitude!~” he said in a song tune voice you pushed him away from you embarrassed. “I don’t need to fix my attitude old man..” you say walking a bit forward ahead of the deer demon.
The radio demon chuckles, but the chuckles stops when seeing you immediately get whistled at by a male sinner who eyes you. You flipped the sinner off before going back to Alastor, holding the older’s hand as he slightly move in front of you.
It seemed like this asshole was trying to talk to you, but he couldn’t as alastor smiles down at the sinner. “C'mere sweet thing. Why don’t you come and get a drink with me.” The sinner says. You and Al narrow your eyes at the sinner, you weren’t budging from behind alastor who stands strong and confident
“I don’t think they will be going with you anytime soon my dear fellow.” Alastor says with a strained smile. The sinner was definitely new and didn’t know who was companying you at this very moment.
“I don’t think I give a fuck.” The sinner says teaching his hand out to your frame.
The sinner tried to make an attempt to grab your arm from the radio demon. There was a ring of static in the air whilst making the sinner stop grabbing your arm. Alastor grabs the arm that dares to try and take you from him. Alastor smiles eerily at the sinner.
“I’ll teach you some respect you filthy pest.” He says as static seems to boom the area before he goes full demon mode and drag the filth to the alley to have a nice “talk.”
Their screams were broadcasted on his radio station the day after they whistled at you. Alastor made sure to have his shadow follow you for a few months before he was sure you were fully okay. Harassment towards a minor, is a big no-no.
VAGGIE
You wanted to help her get more flowers for a decoration of a trust exercise, so she let you run the errand.
You ran out the hotel happy and excited. You always weee excited to help the hotel ever since you died. You knew your mom was in heaven so you wanted to be redeemed quickly and possible.
You went to the flower shop smiling which gained the attention of a female who smile sweetly at you. She approached you holding a flower. You knew not to take things from strangers, even demons as Charlie and vaggie told you.
But it’s a flower, what’s the worse that can happen. Plus you need flowers for the event itself. As you grabbed the flower, the flower sprays out this gas that made you feel slight drowsy. You feel your body limp as the woman comes closer to you.
You try to push her off as she caresses your body. With your mustered up strength, you use your sharp nails/claws to stab her eyes and run.
The flower drug was slowly taking affect until you did a few symbols on yourself. You learnt it from Lucifer as he gave you a book. The drug wore off but your mind was scrambling. You felt yucky and violated. As you bursted through the hotel door, accidentally running into vaggie’s arms.
“What the fuck happened!!?” Vaggie says concerned as she sees the bruises on your wrist. Her eyes widen. “What. Happened..” she says seriously.
You explained the situation while sobbing softly. Vaggie comforted you in her hold as she closed her eyes ashamed at how she wasn’t there to protect you. She was suppose to your guarden. Your parental figure.
Vaggie takes you upstairs, run you a bath and just watched you softly. Guilt in her eyes for not being a good parent to you and just follow you to make sure you were okay.
The whole night, she stayed close to you. Not even dropping her guard when it comes to you. You are too precious to go through this. She just hopes you can recover.
She’s not letting you out of her sight ever again. Hell she might teach you how to fight , but might go overprotective on you and keep you in the hotel until she and you were sure to go outside again.
CHARLIE
It was during a trust exercise with one of the new residents…
It was a trust fall activity as Charlie shows the residents how it goes. You say what you have in your mind and do the trust fall. After Charlie does it with vaggie. It was your turn and the sinner’s.
The sinner looked calm and you were anxious as you never done the trust fall game. Even in the human world.
As you stood on the stand talking to every member of this exercise and Charlie. She gives you a thumbs up which made you smile and gain confidence in talking. You fell backwards into the sinner’s hold as they caught you.
But they didn’t let you go. You tried to tell them but they didn’t let go still. You felt their hand travel around you and gr0pe your lower and waist. Your eyes widen as you try to move away from the bastard.
Tears were in your eyes as you hyperventilate at how you feel their touch. It burns, it feels like lit burns. Charlie notices what is going on. She gets up and pulls the bastard from you. She pushes you behind her as she looks behind her to see if you were okay. Whilst she does that, she glares heavily at the sinner.
“WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN TOUCH THEM LIKE THAT?!” Charlie yells as her demon form was slipping out of anger seeing you run towards her. Hell was going loose as the sinner tried to back away from the raging aura Charlie was releasing.
Before Charlie can send hell fire at the bastard who dares to gr0pe you, you grabbed her arm. You know she isn’t really the type to kill someone and might regret it. So while you grabbed her arm, she calmed down and stared at you. Her yellow pupils going back to red as she glares at the sinner.
“Your stay isn’t welcome here..” Charlie says lastly as alastor takes the sinner away, probably to kill them and eat em.
Charlie takes you up stairs as you grip onto her arm. Her gaze on you soften with protectiveness and worry. She can’t believe that happened to you.
She checks on you everyday and has to mane sure you are with a resident before leaving the hotel. She feels guilty knowing she wasn’t there to protect you. Charlie must definitely hands razzle and dazzle to you if you are going out or going to sleep.
HUSK
A drunk resident had walked into your room as you were busy doing art work.
It was a night that you were relaxing in your room just drawing. You always had a passion to draw, maybe even to be an artist.
Your father figure was down stairs tending the bar. Husk was giving drinks to a resident, husk could tell that the drunk bastard has enough. He told the bum to go upstairs as he had enough beers.
Husk watches the person go upstairs, stumbling and staggering. The cat demon rolls his eyes as he hears a door close, assuming the sinner went to their designated room.
You were so busy listening to music you didn’t notice someone enter your room. As you put down your pencil, going for a crayon. You noticed a resident you would see at the bar. Your eyes widen smelling the strong alcohol from their body as they walked closely to you.
A curling scream came from your room making husk immediately drop the glass he was cleaning. He rushes upstairs to see the problem and why you screamed. He sees you being pinned down by the sinner he was tending to earlier.
“GET THE FUCK OF THEM!” Husk yells, eyes filled of anger. All he saw was red as he pulls the bastard off you and starts to beat the person up repeatedly. Their face was bloodied as heavy breathing came out of their face. You stopped husk as you had already been traumatized. Husk stops, breathing heavy before he kicks the bastard all the way down stairs.
You sometimes still relive through that moment as husk stays beside your bed. Husk would have to calm your down from your panic attacks from that night as you lash out at your own “father”
“Kid. Kid! Calm down…it’s okay. I’m here for you..fuck. I’m here for you.” Husk says calmingly while you try to get out of his hold. Still in panic mode. He had to hold you tightly for you to understand that you were now safe.
Hot tears fall to your cheek as you sob painfully at what you just experienced. Your tears made husk’s heart break and shatter. He was just glad you were okay in your room for now.
He holds you to his chest as his fur called you down even more. You sniffled holding him tight as if he would disappear if you let him go.
He felt your heartbeat go slow as you fall asleep in his hold. He stays close to you the whole night as he promises that he will always protect you. You are like his own child since you came to the is shit hole.
He lets you stay by him in the bar as you fall asleep. He grumbles a lot remembering that night as he almost broke a glass in his hand. You are only a kid…
ANGEL DUST
You were sent to find angel dust, only to see him in a bar drunk. So what did you do? Try and drag him out only to drag into trouble
You went into the bar to see Angel drunk, he was also talking to some demons who smirked at his drunken state.
You scoffed going over to grab Angel dust. As you went to grab him, one of the demons made you sit on his lap as if you were ready to meet Santa Claus. But you weren’t as you headbutt the demon and grab Angel dust.
The rest of the demons pull out knives and gun. Your eyes widen as you rushed pout the bar door, sensing the demons on your tail.
You throw a beer bottle at one of the members, the shards went in their eyes. Even if it was a small trick, the screams distracted those asshole as you make a run for the hotel.
You gently laid angel dust in his bed as his eyes tears up, realizing the situation and what could’ve happened if you didn’t take advice from Vaggie about combat.
“Shit…I’m sorry for getting you in this shit.” Angel dust says as he looks away with a drunk shamed look. You sighed, you’re just a kid looking after a drunk adult.
Angel sobered up a bit after you left him in his room. His memory fuzzy, but it was clear that you were uncomfortable with those damn demons that were eyeing you. Even if you got pulled into someone’s lap, that made him disgusted.
He promised you when you first came here that he would protect you. You was like a little sibling to him. He couldn’t believe how he was a drunk asshole who couldn’t even protect someone he cared about most.
Angel was actually sober for months after that encounter. Worried you would run into those demons he was with that night. He would also make you more like force you to watch fat nuggets while he is at work.
He would probably make a deal with Valentino or probably mostly alastor to make sure you were safe since that day.
SIR PENTIOUS
You were trying to find Frank, one of the egg boiz in the pride ring only to run into trouble.
You found Frank being ganged by some sinner who looked from the modern era you are from. You looked around for something, and you found an old computer. Mustering up your strength, you threw that bitch at their head.
Frank runs to you, holding your leg tightly. He was happy to see you were okay with him. You and the egg right here was like family as you smile at how cute he was happy to see you. Pentious would be happy to see Frank is in good condition
You left the alley way and start to chat with the egg boy by your side. It was have been obvious that you were being watched as a female sinner stared at you and your body. You felt the gaze and scoff making Frank raise a brow until seeing the sinner. The sinner seemed scary for poor Frank.
A whistle was made towards you, you flipped them off as you picked up the poor egg who was trembling. He obviously was trying to seem strong for you but it fails as he holds tightly to you. The sinner lady smirks as she follows you. You felt more uncomfortable with Frank as Frank was trying to warn you that she was gaining speed for you. But you already knew.
You made a circle with your hand, a portal opened and it closed immediately when you entered it. The portal sent you to the hotel in one piece with the adorable egg boy.
Your face was stoic with some disgust in your eyes. Eyebrows furrowed on your face as you entered Pentious’s room with Frank.
“Ssssweetheart? What happened? Whatssss wrong?” Pentious says as he notices your disgusted look. "Nothing nothing. Here you go penny." You said brushing off the feeling on your shoulders. But it still noticeable in your body language.
Before you could walk out of the room after putting Frank down. Frank just had to open his eggy mouth. The egg confessed that you were catcalled and almost followed to the hotel until you did your powers you have conquered in hell.
“Why that behavior is not acceptable to a minor!! That bunch of filth shall learn to never mess with my dear friend.” Pentious says as he forces out of his room so you can get a fresh start on a new days and this time he is making baby gates for his eggs so they will not bother you anymore
He was planning all night to see what he can use as a revenge for the cat calling you had experienced. Frank was also giving sir Pentious ideas also. It seemed they both agreed on one plan to have your get back.
He used his machine weapons to destroy that monster who catcalled. He was definitely making sure the laser was fast so he can come back to you and make you cookies so you could feel better. For the rest of the week and probably month.
CHERRI BOMB
You wanted to grab a snack out for Cherri and you. You left the hotel as she started to stay, as you left you didn’t notice of couple of shark demons. The leader smirked flicking a cigarette from his mouth eyeing you. They whistled at you making you scoff and keep walking.
The leader nods his head at you as the sharks move towards you snickering. You felt their presence, luckily you brought your…damnit you left your pepper spray.
The leader grabs you trying to pull you into an alley as your eyes widen. In a heap of panic you screamed for help, that only made it worst. Next thing you felt was a slap to your cheek as you sobbed.
The leader and the members chuckle grabbing your hair. With one final effort your screamed, but it wasn’t an ordinary scream. It was a sonic one that blew them away (a/n: sorry if it sounded corny😕) With that you left in a hurry inside of the hotel. Tears running down your eyes, you ran upstairs passing Cherri who looked shocked to see you run pat her like nothing.
“Sweetie?” Cherri says softly, her Australian accent showing her absolute worry for you as she followed you into your room. She sees your face in your pillow. Softly sobbing, scared as your adrenaline was still high. She sat next to you softly holding you in her arms hoping you would open up. And you did after calming down.
After explaining what happened with a tired and broken voice, you couldn’t believe that this would happenu to you. You felt kinda yucky being touched but you felt safe with Cherri.
“What a fuckin' asshole. I bet his dick is small…don’t worry honey.” She says caressing your back as you sniffled before falling asleep.
In the aftermath, she blowed up their house in honor for you.🔥💗 no witnesses either.

Y’all have waited so patiently for me to get my shit together and format this post, and for that, I thank y’all endlessly (for not calling me out on my avoidant personality and procrastination xoxo)
Without further ado, I give you…
Swamp’s GhostSoap Recs
PART TWO
(electric boogaloo)
My qualifications to make this post are that I’m neurodivergent and have read over half the damn archive at this point.
If you see your fic featured here and don't want it included in a rec post, just shoot me a dm! Will remove any from the list without question or complaint at the author's request.
Tumblr media
Notes: I tried to sort some of them out into some broader categories for easier perusal, however, some fics might touch more than one of these topics. I went with whichever category was the MOST relevant in regard to the fic's content. Fics in italics are under 10K words. Stuff involving religious guilt and heavy religious undertones are marked in orange. Some fics are privated by the author- in that case the link might not work for you if you’re on mobile, so just look it up by author and title once you’re logged into your AO3 account. Happy reading!

on the topic of analog horror that no one brought up i really love home safety hotline. i really like analog horror but i fucking hate that they all have the same tropes that trigger my paranoia (the faces that literally all of them use, unreality stuff that makes it seem real, jumpscares) so i generally cant engage with them at all but home safety hotline has literally none of that and i am so fucking thankful. plus its just based around fae and a really fun vibe

So I had a thought.
Specifically involving Tank and Quinn.
CW/TW: Ab*se of power, human trafficking
Anyway, little PSA before I start (which likely won’t apply to most of you since I’ve seen how you all approach tough topics <3):
please please please please please don’t romanticize ab*se. Do your research if you’re gonna write about subjects you’re unfamiliar with. It’s okay to add some darker elements to stories as long as you do so in a respectful way, and the first way to start is by doing more than a surface level dive into themes you’re unfamiliar with :)
Okay, so while I was drawing Sam singing Claire a lullaby I finally listened to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” and I noticed that it gives Tank and Quinn vibes, especially seeing the power dynamics between them.
Let me preface this by stating that I’ll be using she/her pronouns for Tank in this, since my version of Tank is biologically female and identifies as such. However, everything said can apply to anyone, and any pronouns used can be swapped to whatever your Tank uses <3
I personally imagine that Quinn is at the very least a couple of years older than my ver. of Tank (and at the very most, 10yrs, but I’m not too fond of the idea of that much of an age gap when Tank’s still in HS) which gives for an interesting dynamic for Tank seeing as I’ve imagined him meeting Tank when she’s in HS (granted, I’ve seen a lot of people say that so it may be canon idk. I’m just following some of the “general lore” I’ve seen). But there’s an imbalance of power there, being age and experience in life, which brings me to a specific line that stood out to me and sent me down this rabbit hole.
> “The way you sold me for parts as you sunk your teeth into me”
What if
And hear me out, what if Quinn trafficked Tank?
I wrote an entire paper on human trafficking a while back, where I spent months researching and conducting interviews, and given their relationship, it… unfortunately fits.
But let’s begin with some common misconceptions about human trafficking:
1) We don’t actually know the sheer number of people being trafficked, be it for labor, s*x, etc., so all statistics have to be taken with a grain of salt.
2) There doesn’t have to be movement. People tend to think of a Point A and Point B, but often times, the perpetrators and “Johns” (a person who pays/trades for s*xual acts) come to the victim. Victims can even be recruited and trafficked in their own towns- or even their own homes.
3) While high schoolers can be considered to be the general demographic, everyone is vulnerable to being trafficked. It’s more about vulnerabilities to victimization as opposed to a set demographic (ex: being a runaway/homeless youth, having an unstable living situation, history of domestic abuse, being impoverished/in economic need, substance use, etc.). Guys and girls can both get trafficked.
4) It’s not always a violent crime that leads to a person getting trafficked. In fact, most of the time traffickers use psychological means (such as manipulating, defrauding, and threatening victims) to get what they want.
5) It doesn’t have to be something physical that’s keeping a victim with their trafficker. Often times it’s far more complicated than that. According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, “Some (victims) lack the basic necessities to physically get out - such as transportation or a safe place to live. Some are afraid for their safety. Some have been so effectively manipulated that they do not identify at that point as being under the control of another person” (Myths & Facts).
6) Victims are not only targeted by strangers. It’s often a person they know.
Human trafficking can essentially boil down to two things: vulnerability and control. Quinn’s power over Tank as an older, more powerful and experienced vampire who used Tank’s vulnerabilities would be an example of an imbalance of power within their relationship.
Let’s get into some of Tank’s vulnerabilities.
Tank, at this point in time, isn’t tied down to any place. With the Shaw Pack, they were estranged, and their parents eventually move back to Washington, leaving them with relationships and connections that are strained or long-distance as is. That’s red flag number one, since people who are going through a difficult time or who lack strong support systems are often targeted and are more likely to get trafficked. Tank can also be seen as desperate, as seen by her vigor to track down Quinn. People who are more impressionable and desperate are also easier to traffic.
Number two is her age, since teenagers and young adults are at a higher risk- and especially those without a high school education. A lot of trafficking happens to minors who get groomed, which could unfortunately apply to Tank depending on how old Quinn is thought to be.
Also, as I mentioned, Tank likely would have met Quinn in HS at her lowest point. It’s more common for victims to be trafficked by people they know- be it bosses, coworkers, partners, family members, or friends. Quinn could have used this to his advantage, and through coercion (and maybe even force), profited from s*lling Tank out to others. Specifically, I’d imagine people using Tank as a “blood bag.”
One possible scenario would be that Quinn could have utilized all of Tank’s vulnerabilities, her insecurities, and how she was relying on him to manipulate and coerce her to stay with him. Under the guise of financial support (so Tank could “pay back” and support Quinn for everything he’s done for her), he could have sold her “services” (blood) to other vamps who prefer to drink from living beings as opposed to draining actual bags of blood.
To keep her with him, he could have further exploited her weaknesses and manipulated her- using the fact that she’s become a “blood bag” to keep her close to him, using the whole “sloppy seconds” line and asking her what the Shaw Pack and her parents would think of what she’s become, thus having her further depend on him.
And if the one person she didn’t push away got word of this.. well- you know what happens next in Tank’s canonical story.
All in all, it’s not an unfounded thought that Quinn *could* have trafficked Tank. I’m not saying that he canonically did, since I don’t think Erik would have written something that dark into Tank’s story- however, I do think it is within the realms of possibility of something that could happen, perhaps in a fanfic or something.
Everything which I stated above are factors that can unfortunately help lead to a person being trafficked, but it doesn’t necessarily mean someone will be. The #1 way you can prevent you or someone you love from being trafficked is to keep yourself informed and do your research on it!! Everything I stated is roughly on a surface level, and there’s so much more to learn (ex: Truckers Against Trafficking, how interstates, truck-stops, hotels, restaurants, sports games, etc. play into trafficking, the effects on victims following being separated from their ab*ser(s), victims’ legal standings, etc.). I implore you to do research on HT.
Keep your loved ones close, learn the indicators of human trafficking, and learn to recognize the tactics recruiters use.
Stay safe, y’all <3

Eviction, Hawaii, and a little advice
Hello, lovely listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Worn. I'm your host, Silla Quiñones, and I'm here to explore the intricate threads of labor, self-discovery, growth, and the harsh realities of poverty. Today's episode is a sobering yet important one. We'll be delving into a topic that affects countless lives across the globe, with a focus on the US – evictions and notices.
Evictions are more than just notices to move; they're about people's lives being upended. Eviction notices arrive like unexpected storms, disrupting the fragile stability of those already teetering on the edge. Imagine receiving that letter, feeling the weight of uncertainty and fear, wondering where you'll lay your head next. Today, we're diving deep into this topic, exploring personal stories, the social fabric, and potential solutions.
The first story on our radar is of the families on Maui in Hawaii.
As many of us are aware, our friends in Hawaii, specifically on the island of Maui have suffered a horrendous fire. A fire which the Hawaii power utility company has taken responsibility for starting. They had over 60,000 utility poles which were outdated from, and I quote from the Ap article on it, “its own documents described as built to “an obsolete 1960s standard,””.
it is such a horrific situation they’ve caused by not prioritizing safety for well over 50 years on the island of Maui.
To compound this horrible event, eviction notices have been circulating. Yes, there are human beings that saw this disaster unfold and decided that it would be appropriate to claim that individuals affected are “in breach” of their leases during this crisis and uproot them. It is, in my opinion, such a shameful and horrific act to be party to.
Now something incredibly important to note is that according to the Statewide Office on Homelessness and Housing Solutions of Hawaii, it is absolutely a violation of the statewide eviction moratorium in place to protect those affected in by the fires.
Evictions during times of crisis are unfortunately common but frowned upon. Upheaving those dealing directly with the aftermath of natural disasters is discompassionate and irrational. If you or someone you knows has received an eviction notice please contact the State Landlord-Tenant Hotline or Legal Aid Society of Hawaii. Both numbers will be in description, and listed on the show’s show notes on tumblr.
Contact the State Landlord-Tenant Hotline (808-586-2634) or a legal services agency, such as the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii (808-536-4302), to seek information about your rights as a tenant if you are a Maui Resident.
Evictions are not isolated incidents; they're part of a complex web of systemic issues. They reveal the chasm between those who hold power and those who are vulnerable. This issue disproportionately affects marginalized communities, perpetuating cycles of poverty that are difficult to break. This is why I cannot encourage people enough to reach out to housing advocates and seek legal representation when faced with an eviction.
Remember, after a notice to quit, if you haven’t vacated the premises, then the landlord has to file the appropriate paperwork with the local courts. A notice to quit is not a legal document, if it is written in a way to incite fear or be threatening, take photos and document it! No judge is going to look favorably on such unprofessional and often times discriminatory behavior. Follow up with the courts directly, having legal representation is often optional but judges have been known to rule in tenant favors when they have legal representation vs in cases where tenants represent themselves.
Our society needs comprehensive changes – from policy shifts to community support networks. Some places are experimenting with alternative housing models, like cooperatives and community land trusts. These innovative approaches prioritize people over profits and aim to break the cycle of evictions because evictions do not exist in a vacuum; they’re a manifestation of a broken system. Thank you for joining us on this episode of Worn. Remember, the fabric of our society is woven by the stories we share and the actions we take. Stay compassionate, stay curious, and keep unraveling the threads that bind us. Remember to subscribe and share Worn with your friends and family. Until next time, remember that no matter how worn we may feel, we are always capable of embracing our strength and rewriting our stories. Stay resilient.

Long story short I called the ✨suicide hotline✨ and the lady asked if I see anyone and I said “yes therapy on thursdays” her attitude immediately shifted to “fuck you you already get help get outta here” but in a professional manner
Love bug I know you mean well and that humor is a coping mechanism but you genuinely cannot say stuff like this out of pocket and without warnings. This is a general safety measure for me, and other people depending on tendencies and trigger warnings.
I am going to give it you straight: I do not actually appreciate this type of humor or coping. I find it doesn’t put me in a safe headspace. For future reference, I ask for a warning before hand or refraining from the topic outright.

5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE WILL BUY FROM YOU ONLINE
Tumblr media
Online marketing requires more than getting listed in search engines and waiting for the money to roll in. Once you have a description of your target market, you can take advantage of Maslow’s Triangle to understand their motivation for buying. Advertisers have long understood the power of messages that address people’s emotional needs, taking advantage of a theory developed by humanistic psychologist Abraham Maslow in the late 1960s. You can do this, too!
According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, everyone has to satisfy certain needs before they can achieve their maximum potential. In marketing terms, people buy certain products or seek certain types of information to satisfy one or more of those needs. Of the five levels in Maslow’s Triangle, the bottom two levels (Physiological and Safety) are basic needs. The top three (Social, Esteem, and Self-actualization) are growth needs. At this point, people can find Web sites to satisfy every need in the triangle. Here’s a list of those categories along with a description of each:
✓ Physiological Needs: This category covers air, food, water, sleep, sex, health, and shelter. To satisfy these needs, people might research homes online, look for apartments to rent, purchase apparel, arrange a grocery delivery, search for a dentist’s name, look for nutrition advice, or locate an oxygen bar.
✓ Safety Needs: These types of needs include security items and information for times of emergency, social disorganization, or personal trauma. At this level, people might seek hotline numbers, fire or flood evacuation information, earthquake kits, fire extinguishers, car alarms, or GPS systems.
✓ Social Needs: This category indicates our human cravings for caring and belonging, including products and services that make us more attractive to others. This need drives the appeal of popular social networking sites, as well as cosmetics, spa memberships, self-help books, hobbies, clubs, civic activities, churches, and other groups.
✓ Esteem Needs: This refers to an individual’s need for self-respect and respect from others. This need motivates the purchase of items like jewelry, fine wines, a monogrammed leather wallet, or a search for a Hummer dealer, all of which carry a sense of status, prestige, and power.
✓ Self-Actualization: A sense of creative self-fulfillment may come from artistic, musical, educational, spiritual, or religious pursuits. Individuals with self-actualization needs might visit sites related to creative or spiritual pursuits, and they might buy books, music, classes, concert tickets, or art.

#JamesDonaldson On #MentalHealth – #Twitter Restores #SuicidePrevention Feature
Tumblr media
Move follows criticism of #ElonMusk after #ThereIsHelp feature disappeared from searches #ElonMusk had told users that “#Twitter doesn’t prevent #suicide.”  Nadeem Badshah #Twitter has restored a feature that promoted #suicideprevention hotlines and support groups after its CEO #ElonMusk was criticized over their removal. The feature, known as #ThereIsHelp, placed a banner at the top of search results for certain topics and listed contacts for organizations in numerous countries related to #mentalhealth, HIV, vaccines, child sexual exploitation, #Covid-19, gender-based violence, natural disasters and freedom of expression. Reuters reported on Friday that the feature was taken down a few days ago. Twitter’s head of trust and safety, Ella Irwin, confirmed the removal and called it temporary. Irwin said: “We have been fixing and revamping our prompts. They were just temporarily removed while we do that. We expect to have them back up next week.” Irwin said: “Google does really well with these in their search results and are actually mirroring some of their approach with the changes we are making.” She added: “We know these prompts are useful in many cases and just want to make sure they are functioning properly and continue to be relevant.” Musk, who did not initially respond to requests for comment about the removal, had tweeted: “False, it is still there.” In response to criticism by #Twitter users, the billionaire also wrote that “#Twitter doesn’t prevent #suicide.” The initial removal had led some consumer safety groups and #Twitter users to express concerns about the wellbeing of vulnerable users on the platform. Eirliani Abdul Rahman, who had been on a recently dissolved #Twitter content advisory group, said the disappearance of #ThereIsHelp was “extremely disconcerting and profoundly disturbing”. She added even if it was only temporarily removed to make way for improvements, “normally you would be working on it in parallel, not removing it”. #James Donaldson notes:Welcome to the “next chapter” of my life… being a voice and an advocate for #mentalhealthawarenessandsuicideprevention, especially pertaining to our younger generation of students and student-athletes.Getting men to speak up and reach out for help and assistance is one of my passions. Us men need to not suffer in silence or drown our sorrows in alcohol, hang out at bars and strip joints, or get involved with drug use.Having gone through a recent bout of #depression and #suicidalthoughts myself, I realize now, that I can make a huge difference in the lives of so many by sharing my story, and by sharing various resources I come across as I work in this space.  #http://bit.ly/JamesMentalHealthArticleOrder your copy of James Donaldson's latest book,#CelebratingYourGiftofLife:From The Verge of Suicide to a Life of Purpose and Joy   www.celebratingyourgiftoflife.com Musk has previously said that impressions, or views, of harmful content are declining since he took over the company in October and has tweeted graphs showing a downward trend, even as researchers and civil rights groups have tracked an increase in tweets with racial slurs and other hateful content. The entrepreneur has also declared he wants to combat #childabuse imagery on #Twitter and has criticized the previous ownership’s handling of the issue. But he has reduced large portions of the teams involved in dealing with potentially objectionable material. #Twitter had launched some prompts about five years ago and some had been available in over 30 countries, according to company tweets. In one of its blog posts about the #ThereIsHelp feature, #Twitter had said it had responsibility to ensure users could “access and receive support on our service when they need it most”. Just as Musk bought the company, the feature was expanded to show information related to natural disaster searches in Indonesia and Malaysia. The year is 2033. #ElonMusk is no longer one of the richest people in the world, having hemorrhaged away his fortune trying to make #Twitter profitable. Which, alas, hasn’t worked out too well: only 420 people are left on the platform. Everyone else was banned for not laughing at Musk’s increasingly desperate jokes.  In other news, Pete Davidson is now dating Martha Stewart. Fast and the Furious 78 has just hit the box offices. An 86-year-old #DonaldTrump is still threatening to run for president. And British tabloids are still churning out 100 articles a day about whether Meghan Markle eating lunch is an outrageous snub to the royal family. Obviously I have no idea what the world is going to look like in a decade. But here’s one prediction I feel very confident making: without a free and fearless press the future will be bleak. Without independent journalism, democracy is doomed. Without journalists who hold power to account, the future will be entirely shaped by the whims and wants of the 1%. A lot of the 1% are not big fans of the Guardian, by the way. #DonaldTrump once praised a Montana congressman who body-slammed a Guardian reporter. Musk, meanwhile, has described the Guardian, as “the most insufferable newspaper on planet Earth.” I’m not sure there is any greater compliment. I am proud to write for the Guardian. But ethics can be expensive. Not having a paywall means that the Guardian has to regularly ask our readers to chip in. If you are able, please do consider supporting us. Only with your help can we continue to get on #ElonMusk’s nerves. What Happens When No One Helps
Domestic abuse is not a comfortable topic. Sometimes it is hard to know what someone is going through behind closed doors. Other times people see the abuse but aren’t sure what to do or how to help. Then there are the times where it just feels easier for people to turn a blind eye or just pretend they don't see domestic abuse happening around them. They convince themselves that it’s not their business and they shouldn't get involved. But when you choose not to help a domestic violence victim, the consequences can be deadly. These are some of the things that a bystander’s decision to NOT help can lead to.
The first and most obvious result is that the victim will likely continue to experience abuse. Domestic violence can and will escalate if left unchecked, and victims may suffer physical, emotional, and psychological harm as a result. If no one intervenes, the victim may remain trapped in a cycle of abuse.
The victim may feel isolated and unsupported: Victims of domestic violence usually already feel ashamed or embarrassed about their situation and may not have anyone to turn to for help. If no one reaches out to them, or worse if someone actively ignores it, they may feel even more alone and unsupported, which makes it harder for them to find the courage to leave their abusive partner.
The abuser may feel emboldened and more powerful and untouchable. This makes an already dangerous situation even more dangerous. If the abuser believes that their behavior is going unnoticed or unpunished, they may become even more aggressive and controlling. This can put the victim at even greater risk of harm.
Domestic violence may continue in future relationships: If the victim is not provided with the support and resources when they need to leave their abuser, even if they manage to make it out of this relationship, they are much more likely to experience abuse again in future relationships.
The victim may suffer long-term health consequences: Domestic violence can cause physical injuries, such as broken bones and bruises, but it also leads to many long-term health problems, such as chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. If the victim does not receive help, these health problems may worsen over time. The consequences of this can affect not only the victim, but their friends, their family, and the most innocent victims, their children.
In short, failing to help a domestic violence victim can have serious and lasting consequences for both the victim and the community as a whole. It's important to take action if you suspect someone is experiencing domestic violence. However, It’s also important to remember that you have to think about your own safety as well. Confronting an abuser directly may lead to them lashing out at you or retaliating against the victim. Talking to the victim privately is the first step. Encourage them to begin developing a safety plan. Even if they aren't yet ready to leave, helping them come up with a plan to stay safe and to know who to call can help them on the path to getting out. Help connect them to resources such as shelters, counselors, and advocates who can get them all the help they need and break the cycle of abuse that is plaguing our society.
These are some resources that can be useful for victims or those who are trying to help victims.

Actually, to continue on serious topics, this is why despite having no love for pornhub and thinking that by all accounts they seem to be an awful company, I wasn't happy how much leverage credit card companies ended up having over them
I don't like something like a credit card company having that kind of power
Like I read though the post tumblr put out talking about why adult content couldn't ever come back in this day and age, and one of the things they cited what how if you do it you basically can't use credit card companies anymore
Don't like it, don't like corporations getting such a say in what goes on. Don't like advertisers or credit cards being able to have so much influence, cause the pornhub thing really isn't about pornhub at all for me
It's about yet another way that we move towards unalive culture where what you can and can't say is super tightly regulated, not by laws but by terms of service from massive companies
I mean we already see nonsense like how Hotline Miami 2 was banned in Australia, despite actual context to what they were complaining about (it was being filmed in a movie in game, so wasn't even happening), and despite the fact that like... Australian adults are... adults, so maybe should be able to make their own choices what they want to buy
And I know that one's a government thing, while I was talking about corporations but like... it's all connected and I don't like any of it
Like to be clear, when harm is done, I want people held accountable. I think pornhub does enough sleazy stuff that... I mean I'm no lawyer, but I feel like from my knowledge their practices weren't really up to snuff, and I have a feeling there could have been ways to do something about them using reasonable laws not based around morality but based around basic safety
I don't know... I don't know... just feels like we give up too much control to unregulated 3rd party companies to say what is and isn't allowed, and it feels like too often really abusable laws are put in place to "protect people" while having very little they actionable do while having a whole lot of overreach
Just don't like it, and talking about sanitizing everything to make stuff advertiser friendly reminded me of this and how much I don't like credit card companies and such being able to say what is and isn't allowed, regardless of if I dislike who they're hitting that day, cause I never know who they'll hit tomorrow

Hidden Solutions for Invisible Problems
Taylor Abouzeid is a fourth year Communication Studies student with a minor in Women & Gender Studies. After learning about Cal Poly’s connections to Safer, a confidential resource that supports survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, she began her own research into the topic.  After two years of exploration, she continues to study within the field and hopes to take this fundamental work with her into her career. “The support you can give to other survivors of sexual assault, has been the most cherished part of my journey. Learning to help myself has ultimately helped hundreds of others.”
One of the hurdles in finding solutions for intimate partner violence remains to be that each situation is completely unique. Sadly, there is not a single solution that could end all violence. Thankfully, there are many options. Getting discrete and urgent help doesn’t have to be frightening or exhaustive. Across the world, institutions have been put in place to help survivors throughout their lives; from current programs to future plans for change, here are hidden solutions for invisible problems.
According to Evans et al. (2020) the majority of people experiencing intimate partner violence don’t seek help. During more normal global circumstances there are precautions in place at doctors’ offices, OBGYN offices, and other health care settings, to help identify those experiencing this trauma. However, as COVID-19 restrictions forced many people back into their homes, these visits became less and less frequent, and on occasion were moved to online formats. These online visits were a stark difference from the privacy and comfort provided with in person meetings. Stuck at home, many patients live without reliable internet, and with their abusers in the home, without the guarantee of confidential conversations (Evans et al., 2020).
Despite these harsh conditions there was still a reported 9% increase in total contacts for the National Domestic Violence Hotline (Schnur, 2020). Even given these large obstacles the increase in outreach alludes to even more violence that goes reported. If the numbers shot up at such a rate, and it remains that intimate partner violence goes hugely underreported, there must be a surge of violence that we are still not seeing.
Currently, many stay at home orders have lifted and COVID-19 restrictions have steadily grown less strict, however if you are still unable to leave your home, you are not alone. Lockdowns created harmful spaces that separated many survivors from existing support networks. These same orders also reduced many families’ access to childcare services, food, and education outlets (Schnur, 2020). The pandemic also resulted in many large-scale layoffs and loss of income for houses, creating financial stress and tensions which could eventually lead to violence (Schnur, 2020). Coupled with heightened anxiety surrounding pandemic-related deaths and illness, strain in community strength, and international threats to individual safety, these circumstances created a storm of fear, and induced conditions propagating intimate partner violence for many individuals.
The need for discrete and accessible help has never been higher. Many institutes have begun of offer more services online, including hotlines, chat rooms, therapist appointments, and case worker hours. There are a plethora of these hotlines that operate 24 hours and can be coded for non-private conversations.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) The National Sexual Assault Hotline 1-800-656-HOPE (4673)
These hotlines can provide real-time crisis intervention, confidential referrals, and information services (American College of Surgeons, 2021). The National Domestic Violence Hotline also provides chat and text options for the most optimum comfort level of patients (The National Domestic Violence Hotline, 2020). The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence works to “lead, mobilize and raise our voices to support efforts that demand a change of conditions that lead to domestic violence such as patriarchy, privilege, racism, sexism, and classism. We are dedicated to supporting survivors and holding offenders accountable and supporting advocates” (NCADV, n.d.). Their website provides resources for survivors of intimate partner violence, as well as support for those working with survivors.
With simple searches for local domestic abuse and intimate partner violence therapy sessions, many options become available to those in need. Another search for intimate partner violence shelters, or women’s shelters provides even more opportunities for those in need. Organizations such as Stand Strong and RISE work to provide these resources and provide information and help for survivors (Stand Strong, 2021; RISE, n.d.).
While for some these resources may be enough support and help to reduce the risk of harm, Sharma and Borah (2020) outline several other options to help mediate the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on intimate partner violence. By encouraging the expansion of social safety nets, neighbors, community members and bystanders can become more informed about the topic and can become active participants of reporting suspected cases of intimate partner violence. With increased numbers in calls and outreach, a streamlined reporting system was also recommended (Sharma & Borah, 2020). Allowing for more flexible avenues for reporting and increasing response time are all fundamental aspects of improving the current systems. The authors also recommended that any, and all, systems should be laden health care responses, and a provided time window for which survivors can have guaranteed support (Sharma & Borah, 2020). Lastly, Sharma and Borah (2020) mention a focus on high-risk populations, namely: immigrant communities, immunocompromised individuals, the elderly, and those with chronic illness.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2020) has published a series of practices for nurses to follow in order to foster safe and healthy relationships. By implementing social-emotional youth learning programs and couple’s heathy relationship programs health care providers can begin to teach safe and healthy skills for all relationships. The CDC (2020) also mentions that by recruiting influential community members, bystander education and family programs will have stronger effects on the targeted communities. With tactics in place such as early childhood home visitations, preschool family enrichment, parenting and family programs, and heightened treatment for at-risk individuals supporting survivors can become deeply engrained in our society.
Opportunities for further growth in the field could include more equitable access to necessary broadband internet services, and a normalization of intimate partner violence screenings (Evans et al., 2020). While intimate partner violence remains largely unseen due to under-reporting, there are many efforts currently being made to help survivors. These solutions range along the scales of intervention and discretion, hopefully allowing for each unique individual to find the help they need tailored to them.
