actually why wait let’s talk about shiori and mikage now. let’s talk about how shiori and kozue both use their sexuality to hurt the object of their affection/obsession who they put on a pedestal and feel like they will never live up to due to their sheer (quote-unquote) “perfection.” let’s talk about how they would both be touga if only they had the right tools and the right body. let’s talk about how shiori and ruka are two of the only characters to actually explicitly have sex that is depicted sans obfuscation or metaphor and yet their entire relationship is a performance built on a mutually agreed upon lie. let’s talk about mikage and miki and what it means to be considered a genius. let’s talk about the alienation and the entitlement of the male ego and his superior intellect. let’s talk about mikage and mamiya and the notion of eternity as directly opposed to corporeality and disability politics. let’s talk about illness as metaphor. let’s talk about metaphor as illness. let’s talk about the divide between the mind and the body as the divide between a nostalgic idealized vision of the past and the intolerable present and even perhaps the unimaginable future. let’s talk about the act of imagining a future as a radical act of hope and resistance and mikage and utena as opposing paths displaying themselves before the one singular being. let’s talk about what it means to try to bury an institution in flames and then deny that the violence was done by your hand. let’s talk about tokiko and the passage of time. let’s talk about loneliness.

Announcement for ShinGensokyo!

A main story with 2 side story will be released in late April 2024 and all the previous comic will be redrawn and reworked (again!). Older comic will be deleted once chapter 1 is released.

On other notes and a disclaimer... - ShinGensokyo will only use lores and characters from TH6 to TH18 and all the literary material during those period will also be used. I cannot keep up with all these new stuff that ZUN is putting out. - ShinGensokyo is not canon compliant, while I do try to stick closely with the canon, I will take a lot of liberty with my interpretation to add or change the Touhou canon.

Sorry for the radio silence, Hopefully we'll get something done soon once I am finished with my works and projects.

Any thoughts on Tokiko? Specifically her parallels with Utena. Especially AOU!Utena cuz omg they basically have the same haircut wtf

i find tokiko so interesting because she is, along with mikage, our first look into the idea of being trapped in ohtori vs leaving it. it's through her we get the reveal that the people stuck in ohtori don't age. and she's the first and one of the only characters we see move on from their personal tragedy and escape ohtori's eternity. i think it's really impactful that she has fully accepted mamiya's death and only comes back to leave flowers in memory of him. she's able to just let the past be the past and move on, something everyone else seems incapable of. it's such a contrast to how mikage handles the situation, and i love that.

as for utena parallels... i guess i don't really see them much? there must be some, as it's significant that mikage projects tokiko onto her, but i think that says more about him. and he's the one utena has more parallels to anyway. they do both leave ohtori, but utena's arc doesn't end with her moving on like tokiko did; the last we see of her is her still mourning her percieved inability to help anthy. they both idealized the concept of eternity for a long time, but then again, most rgu characters do that. we know that mikage sees some of how tokiko interacted with mamiya in how utena interacts with anthy, but i never fully understood what he saw (or thinks he saw) other than the "what i hate most is people who don't care about themselves" line. but that's something where i'm not even sure whether utena actually said that or if mikage was just projecting again. maybe i'm missing something though?
