World Tag League Participants & Lineups Announced: Fale, Suzuki Back in Roster, TAKA Michinoku Returns For 1st Time Since 2019; Blue Justice X Show on 11/28/2021; NJPW Wrestlers At West Coast Pro 11/12/2021

True to form, one day after we release a new episode, the (rest of the) tour lineups are announced. Today, NJPW revealed the participants of the World Tag League 2021, and there are some... pretty interesting names here. First off, the participating teams, with new team debuts in italics:

Twelve teams in all, with five new configurations. Tanahashi & Yano is just bizarre, considering less than 10 years ago those two had heated feuds. Tiger Mask IV takes part, as one-half of the Juniorheavyweight tag team champions. Naito & SANADA we knew about. O-Khan doesn’t get Jeff Cobb this year, but rather Aaron Henare, as his partner.

Lastly, Minoru Suzuki returns to the lineups, bringing TAKA Michinoku along with him. TAKA was last seen in NJPW on 5/24/2019, losing to Shingo Takagi at Night 9 of BOSJ26. Afterwards he disappeared (coincidentally at a show in Chiba, his home prefecture) citing leg injury, and had not returned to the NJPW lineups since. When last we saw him in NJPW, TAKA was still reeling from the consequences of an extra-marital affair scandal he was part of, which would cause him to be removed from, and lose ownership of, Kaientai Dojo, which has since rebranded to Active Advance Pro Wrestling (2AW). TAKA still has his Just Tap Out promotion now, but hasn’t been anywhere near NJPW until now. We’ll see how this plays out.

Also returning to the roster is Bad Luck Fale, last seen at Sakura Genesis on 4/4/2021. 

The obvious favorites are going to be the Guerillas of Destiny (2020 winners) and possibly Naito/SANADA, former tag champions earlier this year. It won’t be Dangerous Tekkers, as they are the current reigning champions. I’d like to see O-Khan/Henare do something just for kicks. Or maybe even Goto/YOSHI-HASHI, just so Goto can get a spotlight match at WK16, since he usually comes good in those matches.

The WTL2021 portion starts on Sunday’s show. I’ll get those lineups up later this week. It should be noted that the 11/28/2021 from Chiba Togane Arena will be the 10th edition of Yuji Nagata’s special Blue Justice events, which will see Nagata/Tiger v. Suzuki/TAKA in the main event. Nagata v. Suzuki encounters are always pretty special.

This coming Friday on IWTV, West Coast Pro will run their West Coast vs. The World show, highlighted by Vinnie Massaro taking on Tomohiro Ishii. Yuya Uemura opens the show with a challenge from Levi Shapiro, whilst Chris Dickinson takes on the United Empire’s Jeff Cobb. Also from the LA Dojo will be Karl Fredericks, as he faces (about to be former) ROH luchador Rey Horus. The West Coast Wrecking Crew will also be on this in a 6-man tag match. Show starts at 10pm EST / 7pm PST on IWTV if you can’t make it live.
