Just What I Need - T. Holland
NOTE: This is my first tom imagine however I have written a few things for Peter and others so just let me know what you think of this! Any feedback is appreciated :)
IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT IT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH! And while I did not cover that specific topic in this imagine, I still wanted to draw awareness to any specific form of harrasment, inside or outside of the door. This imagine features content about this that may be triggering to some readers but is in no way trying to romanticize the subject. There is no form of love that excuses abusive behavior. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO SPEAK UP! <333
Tumblr media
One attribute of yours Tom would come to find both a blessing and a curse after months of venturing further into your relationship is your obstinance. Nobody liked to be told they were in the wrong, but you ensured to steer clear of this whenever possible. Even the smallest things you would find yourself defensive over; toothpaste on the brush first, then rinse; toilet paper folded over, cereal before the milk. Normally, Tom would save the petty arguments and follow suit of your routine, because you being headstrong would leave him the loser of the argument one way or another.
Not that he minded it, though. Tom appreciated someone who would challenge him more than worship him like a god, as some people he has come across do. Being introduced to you felt refreshing, like a dawn of a new day that was not familiar enough to him. He immediately wanted to follow you when you announced your departure to him after your first conversation. He was fortunate enough to receive your number before you left and did not let the opportunity to reach out to you pass him by.
Your hard-headed ways enamored him, nonetheless. He would find the two of you having silly debates often—no aggression present—and seem to plunge deeper in the trench of your being. The sparkle in your eye acted as a beacon when it was first noticed by Tom. It happened to be in the middle of your nonchalant discussion on which water tasted the best.
“Aren’t they all the same?” He piped up, never breaking his longing gaze. Your eyes could only widen at his claim, lips parting in an insulted manner. At first, all you could muster was a scoff, placing your hand against your chest.
“They definitely do not all taste the same.” You remark.
Tom thought back to that conversation, gripping the preferred brand of water you enjoyed in one hand while a miscellaneous bottle of the same drink occupied his other one. He handed you yours and took notice of your furrowed brows when you studied the top of the bottle. You have been drinking this same brand long enough to know a sip had been swigged from it, even if the amount lacking was minuscule.
“So, I tried both...” Tom announced before you could ask, “and I still stand by what I said. I don’t taste a difference.” He eyes you closely when you bring the bottle to your lips to take a sip, humming through it while you do so.
“Well,” you screwed the cap securely to the bottle and moved your free hand to pinch his chin between both of your fingers, “your tongue must be broken then.” You removed your grip from his chin, but Tom was refusing to let you wander too far from him. His arm ached as a belt on your middle and he pulled you even closer than before to his frame, your shirts just an inch from contact.
“If I recall, this is is the same tongue that had you screaming my name last ni—” His response was interrupted as one of the crew members waltzed over to the two of you from across the set. However, your boyfriend said just enough to make your insides twirl and dizzy themselves. Though you wanted to reminisce in the previous night’s activities and make the suggestion to Tom to relive them in his trailer—it wouldn’t be the first occasion—the main purpose of today was to tour the set for his latest film.
“Hey, mate.” Tom greets with a smile and looks down at you. “Y/N, this is Stephen. He’s the fight choreographer. Stephen, this is my girlfriend, Y/N.” He gestures between the two of you, and Stephen was the first to offer his hand for you to shake. You stuck your empty one out towards him.
“How long have you been doing this?” You ask in enthrallment. Yet another trait of yours that captured Tom’s heart was, ironically, your inclusion of everybody. Even if a person held different viewpoints on which toppings were allowed to be on pizza, or which level bread should be toasted, she was always intrigued by the part they played in their life. Each set Tom strung her along to explore would leave him smiling when he caught you sparking up a conversation with the cameramen, the music editors, the propmakers, or anybody alike. You even shared a few words with the catering team once, jokingly questioning how they manage not to engorge themselves on the items they bring to each set. “I know I would. You have will power.” He recalls you saying through a string of laughs.
“About four years now.” It was not a common attribute of yours to admire another person so openly. Even before your relationship with Tom, you attempted to keep the conversation between you casual, so as not to chase him off. But there was something about the niche occupation that kept you on your toes. An idea comes to mind before you can even think it over, and soon you ask the man:
“So, is it mostly just fighting you work with? Or is there some self-defense moves in your choreography too?” Tom looks over at you in curiosity from the explicit question. His grip tightened around your waist, but you hardly noticed.
“Well, it usually depends on the scene and character. But usually, there is an equal amount of both when it comes to a take where the characters might face a lot of “close calls” with each other.” You nod in understanding, now fiddling with the water bottle in your hold.
“Do you…do you think you could teach me some stuff? I mean like, self-defense moves I could use in an emergency.” Tom furrows his brows at your proposition, pondering if there was ever a moment when you felt unsafe that he was unbeknownst to. Stephen quickly agreed, saying they could have a couple of quick lessons throughout the day while they began shooting. Before any additional words could transpire between the two of you, Tom proposed to take you to his trailer.
When you entered the considerable space, Tom’s arm fell from your waist in exchange for his chestnut tendrils. The repeated pull and run of his fingers were telling enough that something serious was looming over his thoughts.
“Tom…what is it?” You ask, taking the bottle of water from his hold and setting it with yours on a nearby table. His now free hand tangles itself in his locks alongside the other, looking as if they could just pull the woe overcoming his mind.
“Ha-have I kept you safe?” He finally mumbles out You blinked for a few moments, absorbing his words but not understanding them.
“Huh?” You ask, slightly tilting your head.
“I mean…I’ve kept you safe, have-haven’t I? Did I ever get you hurt, or…”
“What, Tom no…” you shook your head furiously and reached up to pull both of his frantic hands from his hair. It was beginning to part in all different directions from the ministrations he had previously given to it, allowing several strands to fall about in front of his face. You delivered a comforting squeeze to his hands, which accepted the warm embrace and nimble fingers interlocking with his. “Of-of course I feel safe around you.”
“That wasn’t what I was asking…” He murmurs, lips turning down further. “Was there ever a time you got hurt and I didn’t help?”
“No…” you reply, beginning to shake your head.
“Then why do you want self-defense classes so bad?” The desperation causes an increase of volume in his voice. The brown eyes before you were pleading for answers, and you felt your heart begin wrenching as you prepared to spill the story to him.
“It was while you were out of London for filming a couple of months ago. I never told you about it…” you start. Tom never interrupts. He just nods his head, a silent ask for you to proceed. “It was later in the afternoon and I was walking to go pick up dinner when a group of guys started cat-calling me…” your voice grew quieter towards the end of your admission. Refusing to meet Tom’s eyes, you opted for your hands, now turning stiff and clammy as memories of that day began replaying in your head once again. “When I was on my way back, they did it again but started following me while they did it. And I…” two hot, wet blurs swarmed your vision as you prepared for the onslaught of tears to stream down your face. “I threatened to call the police and make a report if they didn’t stop. So, they started calling me names…really, really bad names.” You refused to go into detail or repeat any of what those men had said to you or about you while retreating to Tom’s home. But every comment came to mind while you described the encounter with your boyfriend. “I’m sorry.” He was quick to notice the slight tremble in your voice before you began sobbing. When the tears began racing from your eyelids, they met the cloth of Tom’s shirt instantly as he attempted to mollify your whimpers and blubbers of how the day concluded. “I didn’t want to tell you and worry you because I thought it wasn’t that big of a deal.” You sputtered without any proper cadence in your tone.
“It’s a huge deal, Y/N. Of course, you should have told me. I would have given the report myself.” One of his hands glided through your hair, before placing itself on the back of your warm neck. “They had no right to harass you like that.”
“I just-I didn’t know what to do. They-they were close enough to grab me I didn’t know what would happen if I…if I didn’t say anything.” You peeked your head up, the white around your pupils now a vibrant red as Tom continued consoling you.
“I know, I know…” he assures. “I’m glad you said something too, darling. Imagine having them face your wrath when they don’t have the right water.” He remarks, trying to lighten the mood. He receives a small chuckle in return and takes it with a proud feeling in his chest. Or maybe that was his heart enduring vertigo from your sudden switch in behavior. Because now it was absolutely throbbing against his ribs to track down this group and let them have a taste of a proper fight.
“In case anything like that happened when I was alone…I just wanted to be confident that I could handle it better if it got worse.”
“I understand.” He nods, gazing down into your eyes. “Know that you can call me whenever you don’t feel safe. I would interrupt an entire shoot just to know you crossed the street without scraping your knee, okay?” Slowly, the gleam faded into your eyes once again, absolutely entrancing Tom.
“I love you.” You shakily whisper.
“I love you too.” He replies, wasting no time in planting an abundance of kisses to the crown of your head. You hum.
“Remember what I said earlier about your tongue being broken?” Tom nods, surveying the fond smile as it reinforced the corners of your lips.
“I was wrong.” You admit without hesitation, sending another squeeze to his hand. “It always knows just what I need.”

Top 10 Women Entrepreneur in India 2021
Apeksha Fozdar: Entrepreneur with a Strong Passion of Revolutionizing the Business Realm
Nobody ever said that being a leader would be easy. If you’ve taken more than a couple of steps down the path, you know that leadership comes with challenges and complications at every stage. In today’s fast-paced and competitive business environment, organization leaders are expected to do much more with less; like leading a project from inception to completion with scarce resources, short delivery deadlines, and limited budgets. All of these while maintaining utmost efficiency and not to mention preserving the growth of the team members. This is possible only if an individual possesses some important skills & competencies like teamwork, responsibility, decision making, communication, trustworthiness, ethics, and most importantly leadership. Also, according to Richards and Engle, leadership is all about articulating visions, embodying values, and creating the environment within which things can be accomplished. Apeksha Fozdar, Founder, iContent, is one such leader who truly manifests the aforementioned quote as well as context.
Apeksha is an ace leader and a dual degree holder (Masters in Digital marketing and Masters of Commerce) whose contribution has been considered instrumental in the growth of every organization with which she has been associated to date, which includes Citibank, Crisil Research, Tata Group of companies, and Smmart Training. She has achieved success by seamlessly integrating her motivational, zealous, and goal-oriented attitude with exceptional leadership qualities. With a professional experience of 15+ years in the industry, and while working under several reputed corporates, Apeksha gained a lot of experience and expertise about businesses and the code-cracking factors related to it. However, she always had a spark inside her which led her to begin her entrepreneurial journey in 2014, establishing her own organization iContent. Apeksha, in an exclusive conversation with Women Entrepreneur India, divulges her secret to success.
How iContent came into existence? Also, what is ‘Entrepreneurship’ according to you?
While working in my previous workplaces, I learnt a lot of things, which also helped me to understand that specific treatment is required for each niche of business. The process of learning has been very natural to me. I consider it a necessity for both personal and professional career as it makes us capable of understanding and handling things in a better way in life. Also, as I was kind of very observant from the beginning, I did a need-gap analysis and realized that content writing is extremely essential for Indian clients to reach their target audience. That was the time when I decided to be at the right place, at the right time, which is ‘Entrepreneurship’, and this is how iContent was born.
For me, entrepreneurship is like - living a legacy. It comprises of lots of responsibilities and I actually like to take those responsibilities to create a better world around me. The basic traits of an entrepreneur are - ownership for their actions, responsibility for their work, healthy attitude and most importantly gratitude and care towards clients and co-workers. My endeavour is to excel in all of these traits while achieving success in the business of future that is so ahead of the curve.
Tell us about your offerings, and also the factor that differentiates you in the industry.
iContent is an organization that is predominantly involved in content writing and digital marketing. Our service portfolio includes content writing, branding, website designing, website development, and all the digital marketing operations such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social Media Marketing (SMM), Online Reputation Management (ORM), and more.
We are positioned uniquely in the market with our 360-degree approach, because with a belief that one size does not fit all; our team of passionate content writers, digital marketers, business brains, designers, web developers, and advertising experts are able to customize the solutions to meet the requirements of our clients. Also, we offer research-based solutions that are crafted with innovation & value-addition. This is a major factor that has helped us to achieve high customer retention rate.
Mention few of the milestones that bestowed you utmost satisfaction - both as an individual and a business owner.
Though there are many milestones, I would like to mention a couple of them, which I consider as the most prominent one. As a business owner, I would say, delivering 1000 projects in a time span of five years, which also means delivering one project every single day, is a major milestone of ours.
Talking as an Individual, despite having personal and professional life, meeting a number of entrepreneurs of various niches and understanding their concern areas and translating it into digital strategies is like a passion converted into a profession for me. This is also a chief milestone, which makes me proud and about which I can boast without hesitation.
What is waiting in the future for you and iContent?
In the coming years, we expect to enhance our service portfolio beyond regular digital marketing and content writing. The aim is to add solutions pertaining to the education realm. We also have started new Hobby venture named Hobby turtle’ that caters to some few lakh of the young and enterprising children. Apart from that, for myself plan for becoming a serial digital entrepreneur is in the pipeline.
 Key Management:
Apeksha Fozdar, Founder
A dual degree holder and a business leader, Apeksha is an individual who also has a rich experience of ten years as a seasoned content writer. She is following her passion to create a niche for herself in the business realm.

10 Must-Know Tips for Startup Success
The startup world has never been more competitive. New businesses open every single day, and you either stand out or get lost.
If you know what to focus on and what to avoid, you’ll already have a leg up on the rest of your competition. While others follow the “idea fairy” or refuse to market offline, you can swoop in and easily win leads and prospects for your business.
To give you a head start on success, then, I want to share some of the lessons I’ve learned with all of you newer entrepreneurs out there. Here are 10 things you can learn from Fit Body Boot Camp that I wish I knew when I was starting out.
1. Know Your Niche
Your niche is the specific section of the population your product/service appeals to most. That’s whom you should always be marketing to—the people who will benefit most from your products and, thus, are more likely to purchase them.
Fit Body Boot Camp’s niche is super specific. Most of the people that work out at our boot camps are women ages 25-55. Our short 30-minute workouts cater to the woman with a busy lifestyle—the stay-at-home mom, the woman in med school, the woman on the 9-5 grind.
It doesn’t stop there. We don’t do deadlifts and bench presses at our boot camps, nor are our workouts performance-based. Instead, we use equipment that makes more sense for someone trying to lose fat, such as kettlebells, bosu balls, and sliders.
What about marketing? Of course, our marketing team uses language and images that resonate with our target demographic. We also gather success stories of people in our target demo, which shows leads that someone just like them is getting results from our training.
The entire experience is tailored to our clientele. They love it, they rave about it to their friends (who are usually in our target demo), and we win more clients. You should be equally specific in your product/service/experience design—as well as your marketing—so that you can cut through the noise.
2. Experiment ONLY When You’ve Mastered Your Niche
So many startups follow what I like to call the “idea fairy.”
The idea fairy is the voice that tells gym owners to start Zumba classes in between their boot camp sessions. It’s what tempts people to focus on the design of their logo more than their actual business.
Look, you might be amazingly creative. I get it. That’s awesome. But being creative alone doesn’t equal money. Being the go-to solution to a problem? That makes you money.
We run a boot camp program called “Fit Body Forever” (FBF) at some of our locations. We realized that our boot camps attracted interest from a lot of older people (seniors 55+), but many had trouble getting through our workouts. That’s when it clicked: We could offer a boot camp program that they could keep up with and benefit from.
Our FBF clients don’t care about losing fat or getting a six pack. They just want the functional strength to move around better and live longer. Again, a completely different market from our regular demographic: women 25-55.
That program is a hit in our boot camps that run it, but that’s only because we introduced it after we established our normal model. Had we tried to do both when we were just starting, we wouldn’t have gotten either off the ground. But since we rolled it out after we established our successful programs, we just used our proven model—with some tweaks—to cater to seniors. It worked.
You can use that same technique in your business. Once your core business model is dialed in, look around to see if it can help people in a different demographic with just a few small tweaks, then go for it.
First things first, though: Focus on the one thing you can do better than anyone else. Sell it, make money, and then see whether there’s potential to start another stream of revenue elsewhere.
3. Funnel Clients to Your Services
Everyone’s got problems. Your job is to convince your prospects that they need what you’re selling.
So how’s that done? By funneling your clients to specific programs.
If a client reaches out, ask them questions. Try to understand where they’re at in life and what their needs are. If they don’t reach out, you can always write an interactive Facebook post (something like, “What are your weight loss goals?”) and get people to write comments that you can reply to.
Our Fit Body Boot Camp HQ team answers inquiries and comments every day. We start real conversations with people and get to know who they are. You should do the same thing, even if you’re just a “solopreneur.” As you build out a team, you can delegate this to them.
Once you determine prospects’ needs, pair them with the products or services that will benefit them most. You aren’t just selling them—you’re trying to improve their lives.
4. Build on Recurring Services
Fit Body Boot Camp sells 12-month boot camp memberships, which you can either pay for in full or on a monthly basis.
Our owners pay us royalties for all the marketing, copywriting, and coaching we provide, and these royalties are paid on a monthly basis. We sign our owners to multi-year contracts, which becomes another stable source of revenue for us.
The lesson? Offer programs and services that commit clients to long-term payment plans.
This does two things. One, you don’t have to sell them over and over again—they’re committed to you. Two, you have a better chance of upselling them on your higher-priced products/services because they’re already paying you money.
5. Track Your KPIs
Your KPIs are your “key performance indicators.” They track how well your business is doing on a daily basis. Basically, all of your KPIs will come back around to revenue, profits, or costs. For example, almost all businesses have a sales quota as a KPI, because that translates directly into revenue.
But not every business’s KPIs will be the same—including yours. That’s because every member of your team will have a different method for contributing to your profits, revenue, and costs, so giving them all a blanket statement like “we need more profits” doesn’t easily translate into daily marching orders.
Let me use Fit Body Boot Camp as an example. Every month, we track the number of franchises we sell, our online marketing revenue, website traffic analytics, and more. These metrics tell me what works in my business and what I need to change because they all tie in directly to our revenue, profits, and costs.
What are your KPIs for success?
6. Build Email Lists
Stay in front of your leads’ and prospects’ minds at all times.
One easy way to do this is to build an email list. You can do that in bulk by creating a funnel on Facebook, wherein people give you their email address in exchange for something free and practical, like a 7-day cookbook or a free ebook download. For Fit Body Boot Camp franchising, we give people a free copy of our “Six-Figure Fitness Business Blueprint.”
You can even take a look at how we structure our funnel here.
Once you have an email list of leads, send them free content, advice, and more. In other words, be constantly offering value. People buy from sources they trust—it’s why name brand products do so well. When you go to pitch them on your product or service, they’ll already trust you as an expert, making the sale that much easier for you.
7. Set Expectations for Your Team Members
I used to be the guy that was obsessed with having my team like me—to the point where I couldn’t give them critical feedback because I didn’t want to sound like a jerk. I would buy my team Starbucks and invite them over for barbecues all the time because I wanted to be their friend.
I still do team-building fun stuff, but in the early days of FBBC, I didn’t know how to be a real leader. My team members took advantage of this and didn’t put in their best work. Why? Because I rewarded them before they put in the work.
Ultimately, I decided to make a change: I would set the tone for my team. Step one was to raise my own personal standards; I stopped staying up late and coming to the office groggy and stressed out. I stopped emotionally reacting to bad news and trained myself to respond with a plan of action. I also trained myself to become a better communicator.
Once I became an example my team could follow, I earned their trust and the right to raise my standards for them, too. Today, I expect world-class service. I expect my team members to give me more than I ask for. And I expect each one of them to be a grade A team player.
When they hit the “grade A” mark, I reward them with raises, unrivaled retirement benefits, and healthy bonuses. With each of these perks, I explain to each team member specifically what they’ve done to add value to the business and why they deserve theirs rewards. I also show them a path to the next step in their advancement. Once they know that I reward hard work, they give me their best 24/7.
You should develop this same approach with your team, even if it’s just you and one other person. It’s the only way to attract and groom the best talent in your industry, which gives you the ultimate competitive advantage.
8. Don’t Be Afraid of Offline Marketing
A lot of people say that offline marketing is dead. It’s not. In fact, with more people crowding the online marketing space, there’s a lot of opportunity offline to set your business apart and get people’s attention.
I teach our franchisees to network with local businesses, especially the ones their potential clients go to. Again, you’ve got to be at the front of their minds all the time.
Here are a few offline strategies our owners use (with massive success):
Invite the employees of a local business in for a free 21 days of boot camp
Set up lead boxes (boxes that encourage interested leads to send you their info) inside local businesses
Get a press release written and blast it out through your town’s media outlets
As you might imagine, online marketing will still be your go-to lead generation source. But offline marketing is a great way to target the right leads in your area.
9. You Might Start Slow, But Stick With It…
Most people overestimate what they can do in 1 year and underestimate what they can do in 5.
That’s what happened for me with Fit Body Boot Camp. We became a franchise in 2012 and steadily grew. This was back when I had yet to be the leader my team needed me to be, and was making a lot of the franchise sales calls myself.
Around 2014, I was tempted to quit. I had a business partner who was dragging down team morale by giving terrible instructions and hurting our relationship with franchisees. I even had employees actively sabotaging the business. That’s when I made the decision to man up and become a real leader. Make no mistake: It was a long and difficult process.
Then 2015 came. We started doubling and tripling our sales numbers. Last year was our fifth year as a franchise, and we now boast 650 locations across multiple countries with highly qualified franchisees running each location and a full HQ team to service every franchisee.
It’s no surprise that this success came at the same time my team began to step up their game. I found my footing as a leader and set out clear expectations for my team members.
What’s the secret to sticking it out? Two things: Know your mission and build your emotional resilience.
When your mission is big enough, nothing—not even the crap life throws at you—can stop you from accomplishing it. And when you’re in control of your emotions, you make better decisions that improve your quality of life.
10. Give Back
This past year, our team decided to raise money for Toys for Tots. We ran a promotion across all our boot camps where you could pay $77 for 21 days of boot camp. We gave 100% of that revenue to Toys for Tots. It would have been really easy to shave a little off the top for ourselves, but that’s not the go-giver’s approach. We just wanted to give, no strings attached.
The result? Our franchisees bought into our vision, and we raised $250,000 by Christmas. They also got a bunch of leads from this promotion, many of which became long-term paying clients.
The universe has a way of giving back to those who give.
It all stems from gratitude. Gratitude makes you want to pay it forward. You become what I like to call a “go-giver.”
The go-giver sends his clients gift cards simply because he appreciates them.
The go-giver donates to charity—on an ongoing basis.
The go-giver networks with others by asking the question, “What can I do for you?”
All that giving earns the trust and respect of others. Clients become fiercely loyal to you. News networks want to feature you for your charitable donations. Other entrepreneurs want to work with you because you don’t exude selfishness.
Give without expectations. You will be surprised at what comes your way in return.

AdWords and AdSense Affect SEO Rankings h5
AdWords and AdSense Affect SEO Rankings?
Every business at some point will want to advertise and in this Age Digitally makes sense.
You may disagree now – preferring other alternatives like blogging, online networking, or even simple word-of-mouth – but ads are still effective in grabbing an audience’s attention today.
You have plenty of options when it comes to advertising: from TV ads to billboard displays.
However, one thing you should really invest on is online advertising – starting with AdWords. Additionally, for those Publishers who wanted for a share of profit they can partner with Google’s AdSense to help spread relevant ads.
ADWORDS VS. ADSENSE: THE DIFFERENCE
To put it simply: AdWords serves up the ads for the advertiser (that’s you!), while AdSense distributes the ads to relevant places on the Web or placed by publisher on his niche blog and etc.
Back in ancient times, marketers hardly had a choice if they wanted to promote their products or services. Traditional options such as TV, radio, print, or display advertising are often too expensive. Thus, smaller businesses had to rely on positive reviews and word-of-mouth while they scrape enough funds for real publicity.
Times have changed since then.AdWords and AdSense by Google has become a complementary parts of Google’s advertising program.
AdWords is a program designed FOR BUSINESSES or called as Advertisers so they can create and control their own ads. These are displayed on Google search results (SERP), partner websites with AdSense, or the Google Display network. You can opt to pay based on per thousand impressions on your ad (known as CPM) OR per click (more commonly called CPC).
A popular misconception with AdWords is that your ad will appear #1 on search results. That’s NOT true. Google displays ads based on its relevance to a user’s query. In the above example, we typed in ‘SEO in Los Angeles’ and got several ads related to our search. These appeared at the top or the right-hand side. AdWords is great if you want to focus on local
SEO or boost brand awareness in your locality.
AdSense on the other hand, is FOR PUBLISHERS (site owners, bloggers, etc.) who want to make money from their content. They must first signup and submit their website to Google for approval. After which they will receive a code to display related ads. They earn a percentage of what the advertiser pays to Google each time someone clicks an ad on their website.
If you’re new to AdSense, please take the time to review their guidelines and best practices.
While Google encourages maximum exposure and suggests you put one ad above the fold, they highly advise against misleading users. Avoid deceptive labels, or mimicking your site’s formatting so it doesn’t look like ads.
Ads are ads and should stay that way. In fact, they should be labeled as Advertisements or Sponsored Links so as to avoid confusion.
CAN I USE ADWORDS AND ADSENSE TOGETHER?
Good question.
While it’s not prohibited, it can be a bad thing if used for the wrong reasons.
For example: say you have a digital marketing blog that offers news, tips, and commentary about everything related to search and online branding. However, you’re not getting much money despite running AdSense. So you decide to use AdWords to drive more traffic to your site. Bad move.
Google employs stricter rules when it comes to people who want to manipulate their system. In general, putting AdSense on your landing page is NOT allowed. Also, aggressively placing ads or using irrelevant keywords in AdWords can get you banned. Instead of contemplating on how to use both together, focus your efforts on how to maximize one service to reach your goal.
I HAVE ADSENSE AND ADWORDS. DO I STILL NEED SEO?
Here’s the thing: even if you are already running AdWords or AdSense, you should still perform search engine optimization strategies to cater to organic rankings. Why? People choose organic results 94 percent of the time than ads. If you’re not on the first page of Google (or other search engines), don’t expect to get as much traffic or clicks.
If you currently have an SEO campaign but want to start an AdWords or AdSense project, go ahead. It will NOT affect your organic rankings whatsoever. In a digital marketing sense, these two campaigns are actually different. So if you run both, you’ll need to measure two progress reports and look at two varied results.
 AdWords and SEO
The guys at Media Two Interactive conducted an experiment on this theory and came up with a pretty interesting outcome. During the first 8 weeks, they implemented an AdWords only campaign. On the following 8 weeks, they turned to SEO. After 16 weeks, they found out that their target site still received positive amount of traffic – even when the AdWords campaign was turned off.
Why is that? SEO tactics help us reach out to specific audiences through relevant keywords, content, and customized social media interaction. Google’s system recognizes this as a smart targeting approach and rewards websites accordingly.
Important Note! Just because you’re an AdWords customer doesn’t mean you’ll get preferential treatment .
AdSense and SEO
What about AdSense? Won’t Google prefer your website because technically, you’re a partner and you’re helping them generate more income? On the contrary, bad AdSense practices can lower your rankings. For example: if you’re running AdSense on your pages and you basically filled them with ads, there’s a good chance you won’t rank as high because users won’t engage with your content.
No one likes ‘in-your-face’ promotion – and search engines know this. Stick with the proper AdSense guidelines and continue ethical SEO efforts to reap optimum results. If you happen to get suspended or banned, don’t despair. As mentioned, AdSense campaigns are treated separately from SEO; so you will still rank regardless of what happens to your account.
WHICH IS BETTER: PPC OR SEO?
That would depend on your business goal. Are you aiming to boost brand awareness or to get more sales?
Digital marketing experts (myself included) recommend utilizing both PPC and SEO campaigns. However, there are instances when either one would work better. For example: if you’re a start-up, you may want to go into PPC first to increase awareness for your brand. PPC can reach more audiences in a day (when done right) because ads are placed on relevant places on the Web.
On the other hand, if you’re aiming for long-term results, it’s best to switch to SEO. Search engine optimization combines links, social media, content, and mobile experience to help websites rank on SERP. Over time – even after the campaign is over – you will see that all efforts are paying well in terms of traffic.
CPC Strategy has an awesome infographic that explains these two concepts well:
Siteber recently created aninfographic that highlights the benefits and disadvantages of SEO and PPC:
 HOW CAN I LEVERAGE BOTH?
Although these services DO NOT directly affect your organic rankings doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give them the time of day. You could opt to launch either an AdWords campaign to complement your SEO efforts. It’s your choice.
Phil Frost from Main Street ROI suggests running AdWords before starting SEO so you’ll know which keywords would be profitable. Aaron Wall from SEO Book on the other hand, recommends integrating on- and offline marketing techniques to get the most bang for your buck. Big brands such as Go Daddy and Budweiser have been doing this year in and year out as they compete for attention during Super Bowl ads.
CONCLUSION
Whether you will use AdWords or AdSense, bear in mind that it all boils down to WHAT you want to achieve online and remember it does not affect your online rankings, therefore use it accordingly. The reason why most businesses fail is because they were not clear about their goals. Write them down, be specific, and talk to a professional about your plans (when necessary).
