I’m going to need people in fandoms to stop pretending that it’s somehow feminist and empowering for a female character to get fridged and shoved into this typical 1950s nuclear family setting at the end of a series —especially if it’s a shounen series and it doesn’t make sense for the character to end up this way. It’s not anti-feminist to think that these characters deserved better than what their pea-brained (usually male) author wrote for them.

[Fic Masterlist]
“family holiday” (pt 1)
“Lumineeeeee!” Teucer shouted as she walked through the door of Childe’s home. He tackled her into a hug.
“Well hello to you too, Teucer,” Lumine greeted back. Just as energetic as I remembered…
“Hey! Paimon’s here too!” Paimon crossed her arms.
Teucer broke his hug and waved energetically at Paimon. “Hi, Lumine’s toy!”
Paimon’s jaw dropped, ready to go on a rant, but Teucer already turned his attention away.
“Big brother!” he cheered, tackling Childe into a hug as well.
“Teucer!” Childe said enthusiastically, picking him up and slinging the little boy over his shoulder before swinging him around. Teucer erupted into gleeful giggles.
“Big brother? Is that you?” a soft voice called. Coming down the grand stairs was a little girl who looked exactly like Childe and Teucer, her long brown hair tied in a half-up crown braid, her large blue eyes like innocent doe eyes. She looked about eight. Behind her, another sibling came trudging down the stairs, scowling, his hair appearing more ginger than the rest of the family; his face had a splattering of freckles across his nose and cheeks, more prominent than Teucer’s. He was a bit older, around 11.
Childe set Teucer down, and smiled. “Tonia,” he greeted her, gentler. He got down on one knee, and Tonia ran down the steps—her white dress flowing behind her—and jumped into his open arms.
“It’s been too long!” she said, her voice muffled by Childe’s shoulder.
He laughed. “It certainly has, princess.” He looked to the last sibling still standing by the stairs. “Come on, Anthon. Come here.”
Anthon let out an exasperate huff, but still made his way to his older brother, and joined Tonia in their embrace. “We don’t have to make such a big deal out of this,” he grumbled, though his arms tightening around his brother betrayed his attitude.
“Looks like we’ve been sidelined,” Paimon muttered.
Lumine tilted her head. “It’s kind of nice to see though…”
Anthon’s eyes flickered to her. “Who are you?”
Tonia broke from the hug, ducking under Childe’s arms to look at Lumine, while still gripping tightly to his jacket.
Teucer bounced over to the traveler, and placed his hands proudly on his hips. “Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Lumine!”
Tonia gasped and skipped over to her, her eyes bright. “Lumine?! Like from the letters?” Teucer nodded enthusiastically.
Childe stood and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Yup, the one and only. This is her first time in Snezhnaya, so everyone be on your best behavior.” He gave Anthon a look, to which Anthon crossed his arms.
“It’s nice to finally meet you, Tonia and Anthon,” Lumine said. “Your brothers have told me a lot about you two.”
Tonia smiled shyly and peered at Lumine’s face. “Woooow,” she whispered in wonderment. “You really are just as pretty as he said!”
Lumine felt a shock to her system. Childe told them I was pretty?
Childe let out a nervous laugh, quickly scooping Tonia off the ground and ruffling her hair. “Very funny, Tonia! Why don’t we decide on dinner plans, hmm?”
Paimon, after grumbling in the corner about being ignored, perked straight up. “Food?”
“Let’s celebrate brother and Lumine coming home! We should go to the bestest restaurant in the city!” Teucer suggested.
“You don’t want to eat brother’s cooking?” Tonia asked, a bit of sadness tinged in her voice.
“I think that’s a great idea, Teucer,” Childe said. He patted Tonia’s head. “How about we eat dinner at the restaurant, then we can come home and I’ll make you your favorite cake?”
“Yay!” Tonia cheered, jumping from Childe’s arms, and joining Teucer in celebration.
“Anthon? What would you like to do?” Childe asked.
He shrugged. “Whatever sounds good to me.”
“Then it’s settled! Let’s all go get ready then, okay?” Childe said. The children all ran up the stairs, and soon the foyer was quiet once more. The Harbinger let out a heavy sigh.
“Whew! They’re a handful!” Paimon said.
Lumine nodded. “How do they even survive while you’re away?”
Childe chuckled. “Year round I have a dedicated staff of servants and maids to look after them and the house.” (Mansion, Lumine thought.) “I gave them the weekend off while I’m back.”
“You can handle all three of them?” Lumine asked.
“Oh? You don’t think I’m capable?”
“I just can’t imagine you as a child raising type,” she said, recalling their various battles together. How bloodthirsty he could get.
“The battlefield is different,” he said, as if reading her thoughts. He glanced at the stairs. “I’ve been raising my siblings since we were little.”
No parents? She thought of her and Aether. On their own for as long as she could remember, having to explore and learn alone. Except she and Aether were twins; she never had to look after a younger sibling—let alone three.
“Ready!” Teucer announced, bouncing down the stairs.
Childe crossed his arms. “Just your hat? Where are your gloves? Coat? Boots?”
Teucer giggled. “Oops! I forgot!” He raced back up the stairs.
“And you?” he asked, turning to Lumine. “You don’t look ready either.”
“I was okay on the journey here,” she answered. “I’m sure I’ll be fine.”
He shook his head. “It’s almost dark now. Snezhnayan nights are freezing, even more so during this time.”
“Ahh...well...we didn’t really pack...anything…,” Paimon said sheepishly.
“Paimon I expected, but you, Lumine?”
The traveler crossed her arms. “I’ve been a bit busy.”
He scoffed. “Right, right. Well, we can’t have you freezing to death in the street. I’m sure there’s extra coats around here,” he said, heading up the stairs. “Come with me.”
“Oooo, Lumine, they’re probably super expensive and fluffy! Let’s go!” Paimon said, flying after Childe. Lumine rolled her eyes and followed.
The three passed by the children’s rooms, all clothes being thrown around and excited chatter, before coming to a large door at the end of the hall. Childe’s room. He opened the door and they entered.
It was a grand room—octangular in shape with huge windows and a tall ceiling—large, spacious, and empty save for a large bed, standing wardrobe, and side tables. There was a fine film of dusting covering all the surfaces, and the bed looked like it hadn’t been slept in for a long time. The colors were sparse, only grays, whites, blacks, and the occasional red accent.
Childe opened the doors to the wardrobe, revealing an assortment of heavy winter coats. He pulled one out and held it out for Lumine. “I think this coat is a little older—probably the smallest one I have.”
She put it on, the sleeves running a bit long to her fingertips, the feathered hood obscuring her face up to her nose. Childe laughed, and she stuck her tongue out at him after pulling the hood down. Despite it being old, she could still pick up a faint scent of Childe: a smell remnant of ocean waves and sandy beaches. Unexpectedly pleasant...
“If that’s too big, she can have one of my coats!” Tonia said from the doorway.
“That is very nice of you to offer, Tonia,” Childe said. “But I think your coats might be too small.”
“Oh,” she said. “Well, we’re all ready now, brother!”
The family—plus Lumine and Paimon—gathered back in the foyer with everyone bundled in their coats, hats, and gloves. And then they were on the way to the restaurant.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“Lumine, look!” Teucer said, pointing at a large pond. “There are so many fishes!”
They were waiting to be seated in the restaurant lobby. A large, grandiose building, with marbled floors, vaulted ceilings, and gold furniture. There was a large pond in the middle—a miniature waterfall flowed into it.
Too extravagant, Lumine thought. And I thought Liyue was expensive...
“Do you think we could take some fish home to eat?” Paimon asked, peering into the pond.
Lumine gave her a deadpan expression. “Go ahead. I’ve always wanted to see how Snezhnayans deal out punishment.”
“On second thought, nevermind…”
Tonia pulled on Childe’s jacket. “Can we go to the toy store after this?”
“Toy store! Toy store! Toy store!” Teucer chanted.
“Yes, yes, of course,” Childe said. The two children cheered.
“They’re always so loud,” Anthon grumbled from his seat next to Lumine.
“They’re just excited your brother is back,” Lumine said. “Aren’t you excited also?”
“I guess…” He looked at her. “Why are you here anyways?”
How do I explain that I’m on a quest to find my brother after we were banished from our journeys by an unknown god? “I want to meet all the gods of Teyvat.”
He scoffed. “Yeah, right. That’s impossible.”
“Actually I’ve been quite successful,” she told him. “I’ve already met a few.”
“Really?” His brows were furrowed. “What’re they like?”
Venti: drunk. Zhongli: broke. “They’re...interesting. Very powerful.”
Childe walked over to them. “Is he bothering you?” he asked Lumine.
“She was just telling me she’s met some of the gods of Teyvat. Is that true?” he asked, scrutinizing.
“Very much so. She’s quite strong, so don’t get on her bad side.” He gave Anthon a wink.
“Strong enough to beat you, brother?”
“Of course,” Lumine said, standing up. “I’ve beat your brother before.”
“Paimon can confirm that! We kicked his butt!”
For the first time, Anthon’s eyes seemed to light up. “You did? How?”
Childe chuckled through gritted teeth, disguised as a strained smile. “Now, now, Anthon; you seem like you want me to be beaten.”
Anthon frowned. “No, I didn’t mean that.”
“Sir? Your table is ready,” a waiter said, approaching the family.
As Childe went to wrangle up the younger kids, Lumine stayed behind and tapped on Anthon’s shoulder.
“Hey,” she whispered. “Why do you want to beat your brother so bad?”
Anthon shook his head. “You guys have it wrong. I don’t want to beat my brother…” His pale face flushed a bit red. “I just...I want to be stronger than him. So he doesn’t have to work so hard to protect us…” He stopped and watched his siblings sit around the table in the distance. “He shouldn’t be the only one protecting us. I can see it’s really hard work for just him. I want to be strong enough to protect him, Tonia, and Teucer also.”
Lumine’s heart warmed at Anthon’s love for his family. She missed Aether a little more. “I’ll help you.” She put a gentle hand on his shoulder. “I know what it’s like, wanting to protect a sibling.” She then gave him a teasing smile. “Plus, I’ve already beaten your brother, right?”
“Right!” He had a little smile as well. “And he’s the strongest person I know! Well...I guess that person would be you now, right?”
Tonia came marching up to the two. “Come onnnnn, let’s go eat!” She grabbed both Lumine and Anthon’s hands and dragged them to the table.
Afterwards, the family enjoyed an exquisite meal, and were all stuffed full of expensive foods and cheerful laughter. (The children were amazed at how much both Lumine and Paimon could scarf down.)
The children, very quickly after finishing their meal, practically teleported to the toy store. As the children ran through the store, Lumine and Childe took the moment of rest, silently watching over them. (Paimon had retreated back into her world to recover from the feast.)
“I don’t know how you do it,” Lumine said. “I had a hard enough time with just Teucer in Liyue.”
“It’s not easy,” Childe confessed. He looked at his siblings softly. “But when I see them smiling and happy...despite everything bad in the world? I think it’s all worth it.”
How nice… His love for his family definitely matched her love for Aether. Something we have in common. She found herself enjoying this time with Childe, and his family, more enjoyable than any time she had been adventuring. It was almost like...she was...back home…
Soon enough, everyone was lined up, toys all selected and ready for purchase. Teucer tiredly tugged on Lumine’s coat, then silently held his hands up. At first, Lumine blinked, not understanding.
“Teucer, just ask her to pick you up,” Anthon said.
“That’s okay,” she said, pulling Teucer up off the ground—now understanding—and placing him on her hip. I think this is how you carry a kid? She didn’t have much experience with kids, save for the few she had met while in Teyvat. And those kids are far from normal... She let out a little sigh of relief when Teucer relaxed, laying his head on her shoulder.
“Are you tired too, Tonia?” Childe asked. She shook her head, tightening her grip on his hand, clutching a doll in the other. Teucer was hugging a hilichurl stuffed animal, and Anthon held an action figure of a Lawachurl.
Upon reaching the toy seller, the old woman at the counter smiled at Childe and Lumine. “You two have such beautiful children,” she said.
Lumine almost dropped Teucer. What?!
“Though I have to say, they do take after their father quite a bit,” she remarked. “A shame, seeing as the mother is so beautiful.”
Before Lumine could explain, Childe spoke. “Yes, what a shame indeed—I completely agree,” he said while smiling.
...WHAT?!

~POV Ja'far~
This sitting room was for any guests that might have to wait for Sin for whatever reason, but it was mainly used for the Call Girls he asked for daily. Bringing Mori here made it obvious to everyone what Sinbad was originally after, so Ja'far wasn't surprised to overhear Mori turning him down when he first arrived. What he wasn't expecting was her to bring up Fate to do it. Eavesdropping wasn't something Ja'far liked doing. Originally he was going to burst in, but they weren't just flirting.
Tumblr media
Sin asked directly, "Could the tragedies of my past really have been avoided?" What happened in Riem and Parthevia left scars that could never heal. Ja'far could see how some aspects of what happened could have been different, but the idea that they could have been avoided entirely made his skin crawl.
Mori made it clear that she thought that Sinbad saw himself as above others, and he didn't deny it. She said that Sin considered the tragedies of their past to be stepping stones, and his questions basically confirmed it!
"Yes." Mori was confident. She wasn't harsh, but she wasn't kind either. She was just stating a fact.
King Sinbad didn't answer. Ja'far wished he could see him, so he could have some idea of what he was thinking about all of this. "Everything you've-"
"Um...Sir?"
Ja'far whipped his head around to the source. A maid had arrived with drinks and dessert. This was convenient. He sent her away as quickly and quietly as he could. Ja'far just needed to wait for a break in their conversation, then he could join them with the perfect excuse.
As the maid left, Ja'far returned to the curtain but no one was saying anything.
"Don't tell me, you didn't think I'd ask," Sinbad teased.
"I thought you might, but I'm not sure how to start. As I told you earlier, I've had a long day."
Sin hummed. There was silence.
---
~POV Mori~
This was going to be more than I was ready for. Could I explain any of this without also countering Sinbad's long held belief that the ends justify the means -that he has to dirty his hands for the sake of his dream?
I wasn't, and it would be a fool's game to try. I'm an idiot a lot of the time, but not so stupid to not know my limits here. The waves were still on my side. I was safe. Sinbad was not a violent man. There was definitely a part of me thanking the God(s) -or in this case the writer- that Ja'far wasn't a part of this because I was certain that he would kill me for the things I had already said let alone what I was about to say. ((;D))
I was going to have to explain these things eventually, and I have never liked putting off the inevitable once I realize it. Sinbad was being patient with me, and would let me drop the topic if I needed to. Sure he'd ask me for more later, but that was to be expected -telling him about Fate was my job now as the Prophet of Sindria. Starting the conversation this way would make it easier to bring up again later.
"I'm going to start with some smaller examples before getting to the harder things." That would help me judge if I could actually handle this right now. It needed to be something that was a direct result of Sinbad's decisions and did not cause an extreme set back while also being a good segway for the next example- Got it!
The curtain moved.
A cart was pushed through the doorway that seemed to have something for dessert and probably more alcohol anD IT WAS BEING PUSHED BY JA'FAR! ((UwU))
"I hope you don't mind if I join you."
---
~POV Sinbad~
Someone must have reported to the General about the dinner. Sinbad may have agreed to talk to his Beautiful Prophet with Ja'far that morning while he was still recovering from the hangover. Looks like he forgot.
Ideally, this wouldn't be a problem, but Mori tensed as soon she saw Ja'far. The fact that Ja'far had the cart meant he might have been listening in too. They had already been caught eavesdropping on her before; she would lose trust in them if they made it a habit.
"Mori," Sinbad got her attention. "Would you be comfortable with that?"
She stared at them for a moment, and took a breath. Her voice was matter-of-fact. "I can't explain what you've asked without explaining your secrets, and I'm not about to do that without your permission." She looked fine again, but something felt off about it. She also didn't actually answer his question.
What secrets could she be referring to? Mori had known things about Hinahoho's and Drakon's pasts that they had never told anyone. What secrets of Sinbad's would be proof that those events didn't have to happen?
The King had never seen her like this
Tumblr media
before. This wasn't the calm and charismatic way she explained things the previous night, or the passionate and determined way she explained the revolt in Balbadd. She was confident for sure, but she was cold in her lack of expression. It felt like a dare to talk about his secrets in front of Ja'far.
Sinbad wanted to change his Fate and the only way to do that was to walk a different path. But he wanted to discuss this alone, and then only tell the Generals the parts they needed to know. As a King, as a Singularity, he was supposed to be able to do this on his own. Of course, he needed support, but that didn't mean they needed to know his secrets.
---
~POV Mori~
Would I be comfortable explaining this in front of Ja'far? Obviously not. Ja'far might not hate me, but if he heard me say anything about how Sinbad was responsible for what happened I'd be on the chopping block for slander. All of my anxiety that had flared up at the sight of Ja'far, had quieted the moment Sinbad had asked for my opinion.
Ja'far was looking between me and the King, and when I gave my answer of leaving it up to Sinbad, he didn't look away from him. I couldn't see Ja'far's expression well in this lighting, but it was obvious that he didn't like the idea of secrets he wouldn't know. Learning this could ruin the trust between them. Sinbad was Ja'far's savior. Even when Sinbad betrays everyone and dies, Ja'far refused to let go. It was pathetic. Devotion like that is dangerous, and I know what it's like to be there. It's the most safe feeling possible, and once the illusion is broken there is no going back.
The co-dependency between Sinbad and his Generals (especially Ja'far) was dangerous. The taller his pedestal got, the harder it was for Sinbad to see others as people, and the harder it was for the Generals to see Sinbad's imperfections until it was too late. I wanted to tear it a part. But if they were unwilling when I did it then it could end in an unrepairable break in trust. They had to choose to change on their own regardless of anything I might say, so they could grow from this.
"Let's talk about this another time." Sinbad's voice was full of a fake warmth.
Sinbad was backing down?? He was an opportunist. It was obvious that he wanted to do more than just at have dinner with me from the beginning. So why was he the one suggesting we talk at another time? It didn't make any sense.
Sinbad stood up and walked over to me with that practiced smile on his face. "I promised my Beautiful Prophet that I would only keep her for dinner tonight."
'Oh. He's running away.'
Sinbad always runs from anything that would put blame on him or make him have to acknowledge his guilt. Ja'far already didn't believe a person's actions were predestined, so there was no way that he wouldn't confront Sinbad about any secret I might say. Sinbad didn't want Ja'far to see his sins.
---
~POV Ja'far~
Sin had his hands on the other side of the cart, and was slowly nudging Ja'far back into the sitting room.
"I'll walk Mori back now. She wasn't feeling well earlier, remember?” First he didn't deny Mori's slander, and as soon as secrets involving the greatest tragedies in their lives were hinted at he abandoned the topic quickly with that smile on his face.
Tumblr media
Sinbad was going to walk her back so she could rest? No, that as an excuse to talk to her privately a little longer. If that's how Sin's going to be then fine. Ja'far would talk to him about it when he gets back.
---
~POV Mori~
I was lead back into the hallway before I had fully grasped what was happening. Ja'far barely had a chance to give a farewell.
I could feel in the waves that something was definitely shifting without me really having to do or say anything. I tried to remember what I had said that might have caused a change. I had only scoffed at Sinbad's flirting earlier and called him out on not meaning any of it because I had had such a good day that I was feeling safe and confident. I had wanted to set a boundary involving his flirting, not talk about Fate. Although, I did take the opportunity to change Fate on my own, 'I know I didn't actually give any specific examples or proof of anything. Ja'far didn't hear any of what I said, did he?'
The King spoke with an experienced smooth tone. "You know, since we ended a little early, I could show you more of the Palace that you didn't get to see in your visions.” He leaned closer to me and added in nearly a whisper. "My room isn't far from here if you want to see it.”
I looked up from Sinbad's glittering eyes to the ceiling and prayed in my heart, 'Hey God, it's me: you. What the fuck?'
...
'Nothing?? I'm the one writing this right now, aren't I?' I felt like an idiot. I even memed and they refused to respond!!! They probably thought this was funny. ((It's hilarious))
Why was Sinbad propositioning me now????
I tried not to look annoyed. "No thank you. I already know what your room looks like from my visions, and I have no reason to see it in person."
"Oh?" He sounded even flirtier somehow. "I wonder what I was doing in those visions." Did he think I spied on him having sex???
I deadpanned. "It was the moments where you sat alone -fully dressed- contemplating your humanity."
I almost missed the hitch in his step.
"I see," was Sinbad's only comment before going quiet. I wondered what he was thinking about, and what he currently thought of his humanity.
The closer we got to the end of the hall, the more the waves seemed to be leading back the way we came. It had to be where his room was. Why did turning him down make the waves push harder for me to go back with him?? Was he that horny??
I let go of the arm he was using to escort me. "Don't pull that 'can't you feel it in the waves?' thing to get me to go to your room." I was not going to let him pull me along his flow. "I can definitely feel your influence on the waves, but that doesn't mean I have to do what you want me to." I looked up at him as we both stopped walking.
He had wide eyes and slightly scrunched eyebrows like he was confused, and not expecting the call-out at all.
I continued, "The waves are the Great Flow responding to the will of the living. Since you have a greater affect on it than anyone else, it will take your side in one-on-ones. But since I'm aware of that and feel the waves too, I'm probably the only person that can fight against your impulses." I crossed my arms. "When I said I'm not going to do more than flirt with you, I meant it."
--
~POV Sinbad~
The King was too shocked by Mori's tone to respond right away. While the opportunity to sleep with her was a part of what he was after, "Ja'far wouldn't be able to interrupt us there, so we could continue our conversation in private."
"Oh."
Her flat, short response made Sinbad chuckle.
The King did learn some interesting things from this exchange. The waves do not denote motivation, and people don't have to follow them. He already knew that, but he also thought that he was special and the waves were just for him, not the wills of everyone working together. The reason no one else often broke from that flow was because they couldn't feel the waves. How many times was it now that Mori had proved this?
If Mori was right about this, if this was really how the waves and the Great Flow worked, it meant it was something he could use even more. With more people working towards his goal, the Great Flow would give him even more opportunities. But even more than that, with enough people on his side, and in the right places, it might guide his enemies into self-sabotage without him having to take direct action.
Even if Sinbad was not chosen by Fate in the way he originally thought, he was still special in a way. He had gifts no one else had that would let him achieve his dreams. He was privileged involving the Great Flow, but it was actually helping everyone, not just himself. If he didn't think he was some chosen one -the only one capable- and actually worked with others how much closer would he be to his dream by now? How many of their ideas had been opportunities from Fate that he ignored because they didn't come from himself? He had everything he needed to have an even greater monopoly over the system of this world and he ignored it.
His Beautiful Prophet was giving him everything he had missed on a silver plater. Maybe the reason he could feel in the waves that Mori was going to live out her life in Sindria was because he was going to need that long to repay her. It was a good thing he didn't think he could get bored with the adorable reactions Mori has to being spoiled.
---
~POV Mori~
We passed back through the foyer and out of the Purple Leo Tower in relative silence after I turned down his offer. Sinbad claimed that he wasn't trying to sleep with me but I could tell he was at least keeping it an option, so I still refused him. I did feel a little guilty for not being able to trust him, but I know his track record, so I logiced away the guilty feeling easily.
The silence was making me uncomfortable. The waves rose enough that it had to mean I still had an opportunity to cause change. But I was tired, and even in the dark, I could see the silhouette of the Green Sagittarius Tower. What could I say in the time it would take to get there that could lead to change? Just because there was an opportunity didn't mean it was the right time to take it. We were most of the way across the court yard. We had already agreed to talk again in the future; whatever opportunity was happening could wait until then.
Why were these waves scaring me? They were the same as the previous night which meant they were on my side, right? I still didn't know how much Sinbad believed what I said then. And I was already emotionally exhausted -I didn't know how much longer I could handle talking. Would I be able to handle any aftercare needed if he had a breakthrough now? Sinbad took days to figure out he's human on his own in the manga. But every time someone he saw as having more information than him explained things he came to his conclusions faster. I still wasn't sure how I compared to how his younger self viewed Yunan, or King Rashid, but I could tell that he believed me when I talked about Fate.
The waves continued to rise as we made our way up the steps of the Tower. Sinbad didn't need to escort me all the way to my room, did he?
"Thank you for walking me back." I could see the door to my room a little down the hallway.
"Of course." I heard that smile in his voice. "The Palace may be safe, but I wasn't about to let a beautiful woman walk back alone."
I chose to ignore his comment. I opened the door to my room before he could do me the honor. "Good night, your Majesty."
King Sinbad was glancing down the hallway. "If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you one question." He looked back at me and I could see his unassuming smile
thanks to the lanterns.
It made me nervous. "What is it?"
"Which secrets were you going to bring up earlier?" Sinbad was using a neutral tone. When he looked down the hallway, it must have been to check if the guards were out of earshot.
The waves were high -they would have been higher if we started this earlier. Since he decided to take this opportunity from the Great Flow, I wouldn't be able to end it without answering at least this one question.
There were a bunch of different secrets I could bring up, but there was one that would explain immediately why I would want his permission to talk in front of others. "I wasn't going to start there, but I'd eventually have to talk about the abandoned military research facility you snuck into in Parthevia 10 years ago."
"You know about that?!" Sinbad froze and stared at me. I could see his eyes widen in this lighting. Of course, he would be shocked; it was something he was planning to take to his grave.
I watched him back. "Yes."
I saw at least a million questions cross his mind as he looked down at me. "I guess you really do know all of my secrets."

~POV Sinbad~
Sinbad knew exactly why letting Ja'far hear this would be a bad idea -it was the reason he had kept it a secret all these years. He could no longer remember the reasons he had used to convince himself to go through with buying that island, but he could remember the guilt that ate away at him. It only stopped when he accepted it as something Fate caused on purpose. By experiencing horrible pain and loss he would be able to understand more about the people of the world so he could unite them, and create a world where those pains didn't have to repeat. It was part of his role as the Great King chosen by Fate, a part of being a Singularity, to experience those things so he could become a better King. It wasn't something others would understand, so he couldn't tell them.
Mori tried to keep a neutral tone, but her expression faltered. "I did tell you before that I read your whole life." Her brow was slightly creased with worry. Of course she would have known why he wouldn't want anyone to learn this secret, on top of it being one of the hardest moments of his life.
He took a moment to breathe. "Thank you for your discretion earlier. This is definitely something that I'd rather... talk about as just the 2 of us."
"You're welcome." She said it with a slight nod. "Now, you requested only one question, so..." Mori glanced at her room and back.
Sinbad could definitely get her to talk more about Fate, but she had been drawing a line for a while. It wouldn't do him any good to force things. He laughed to dispel the tension. "I did, didn't I?" He also gave her the best smile he could as he said "good night."
When Sinbad was a little down the hall her door reopened behind him. He looked back to see Mori stepping back out.
"You chose the path you're on," Mori forced out the words quickly, "but you can choose a different one whenever you want. There is no one way to change! If you don't like the options in front of you then I'll help you find another path!" She stared at him for a second and added, "-But it'll have to be tomorrow 'cause it's late," before fleeing back into her room before he could say anything.
She was too cute sometimes. Her whole job as his Prophet was to show him the different paths she had read in Fate, he didn't need a reminder.

07 𝓑𝓪𝓫𝔂 𝓟𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓬!
Synopsis: Sakusa Kiyoomi, a young ravishing man, an athlete for the Japanese volleyball team and comes from a very prominent family around Japan. He was perfect, looks, wealth and fame. But you can’t have everything in life, can you? Sakusa, the germophobic athlete, suddenly wakes up one day and sees a baby boy in a basket in front of his door step, in the basket was a letter, a letter from his past lover, saying that the child was his. The panic look on the spiker’s face was almost comical, knowing that his life would turn into a complete 360, that day was his first time ever to miss a volleyball practice and to call Komori to ask for a babysitter. You.
Notice: the only thing I own is the plot, the art and the characters aren't mine and they all belong to their respective owners.
Tumblr media
It was now a few days after the visit happened, things went back to the way it was, Sakusa attending his daily practice and you were taking care of Kairo
Sakusa was getting ready for his daily morning run when he got a text message from Komori asking when is he going to look for a mother to Kaito, his eyes unknowingly landed on you, you were humming to yourself as you prepare breakfast
“this is stupid” he mumbles to himself and left his cousin on seen
These past few days he’s been feeling some weird things, like how he’s more self-conscious when you’re near, his eyes unknowingly landing on you when you’re not looking, wanting to strike up even just a small conversation with you, and even being stingy when his teammates ask for some of the bento you prepared for him
“I must be crazy” he mumbles to himself again, mid-run, his mind kept running in circles
I just want to get to know her more because of Kaito, yeah, that’s it, because of my son….
“omi-omi~” the setter tries to grab the attention of the spiker
“not now Miya” he grumbles as he seriously, too seriously tapes his fingers
“geez your grumpier than usual” the setter sat beside him, with a healthy amount of space of course
“leave me alone” Sakusa glares at him
“I think you’re in love omi” the piss-haired twin looks at him teasingly eyebrows moving up and down
“I fucking hate you” Sakusa says as he gets up, ready to spike a new set of balls
“you didn’t say no though!” the setter says but he was ignored
The door opened and you were sure it was your boss, you quickly went to the door to greet him
“welcome home sir, how was your day?” you asked
“fine” he answered curtly and walked pass you
You didn’t think of it that much, thinking that he was just tired and needed a rest
He takes his lunch box to the kitchen and went straight to his room, not sparing you a single glance, which then again didn’t really bother you
At dinner he did the same thing, you were feeding Kaito his milk, Sakusa didn’t say a single thing and was just very focused in his meal
He muttered a small “thank you for the meal” and went to his room to work on the company
Was Sakusa Kiyoomi experiencing teenage hormones again?
Sakusa on the other hand was going crazy in his room, he didn’t know what to do, he wanted to talk to you but he was too nervous to even speak
The worst part is, he doesn’t know what’s making him nervous
He got up from his desk and slumped down on his bed, unable to focus on his task
Now that he thinks about it, you guys have been living in the same house for three months now, you had been taking care of him and his son for three months
Come to think of it, Sakusa, who deeply dislikes germs and bacteria, was letting another person live in his house, prepare his food, take care of his son, he realized that he didn’t think much about germs when it comes to you
You had an alluring smile, a warm and caring personality, he can see the genuine love in your eyes when you look at his son it was almost motherly, he can also see the sincerity in your eyes when you do things around the house, or do something for him, when you give him your homemade bento, or when you greet him when he arrives home
Sakusa grew up with a business-oriented family, he was taught not to trust people easily, he was trained to identify lies, moles and traitors. But you, you were really genuine, you were a bit clumsy, but he didn’t spot any malice or ill-intentions coming from you. He wonders to himself if you were real.
And with that, Sakusa’s calm composure crumbled, he gave up thinking and just laid there, head empty, his mind was filled with so much thoughts he doesn’t know which one to think first, but there was a conclusion in his head that he came up with
“it feels nice” he mumbles to himself
“it feels nice to be taken care of by her”
He thinks about his childhood, Sakusa was the youngest child, around this time, their family empire had just begun to sky-rocket, which meant, his parents had to spend monst of their days in the company, they did make time for him and his siblings, but more often than not, he was left alone in the house with the maids and butlers, Kairo and Aiko were already in college during his childhood and Akemi was In high school, so he never really got a chance to spend time with them, the warmth of a family was a luxury to him growing up, so he was pretty new to receiving care from someone
And now that he is, receiving it everyday, he realizes he doesn’t hate it, with that thought in mind, the spiker fell into oblivion

“Quadruple date with kirumi/korekiyo, Kaito/Maki, himiko/tenko and gonta/Angie?”
This was a fun challenge to write! I hope it’s okay <3
btw this made me hardcore ship angie and gonta
Tumblr media
It was Kaito’s idea originally for the gang to go on a quadruple date together. He loved these kinds of things and he wanted his friends to experience it as well, so he invited all the couples. Some were all for it, and some were kind of hesitant.  I'm looking at you maki.
The group decided to meet at a local restaurant which was known for its wide range options and large menu.
Kaito was the first to arrive, along with his date for the night, Maki. They were almost 30 minutes early, much to Maki’s displeasure. However Momota was very excited and proud of himself for organizing this meet-up, so he forced her to come early with him.
Maki: ‘Momota, arriving this early is extremely unnecessary.’
Kaito: ‘Oh come on Harumaki, I had to make sure our table wasn’t given away! Aren’t you excited?’
Maki let out a quiet sigh, causing Kaito to frown at her. He held his slight annoyance with her for about two seconds until he was off again to talk to a waiter about the reservations he made.
Maki waited at the entrance while her boyfriend ran around asking all the poor servers questions regarding the restaurant. As she was standing there she heard some faint talking in the background. She looked up to see Tojo and Shunguuji walking towards her.
Kirumi: ‘Ah Maki, what a pleasure to see you’
Maki: ‘It’s great to see you too Kirumi’
Maki had never been good at small talk. These kinds of conversations pained her.
Korekiyo: ‘I must say this is a splendid choice of restaurant, your other did a very good job’
Maki: ‘He certainly did. Now, shall we find our seats inside’
Maki, Kirumi, and Korekiyo all walked in to see Kaito sitting at the table they had reserved. They joined him, making sure they were seated next to each other.
Kaito: ‘Actually, Kirumi and Korekiyo! I planned for you to sit ove-’
Maki: ‘Leave it Kaito, let them sit where they wish to and stop stressing’
Kaito hunched back in his seat as Maki rolled her eyes towards the other couple.
They sat there, waiting, for what seemed like forever, until the rest showed up.
Tenko and Gonta burst through the doors, with their partners Himiko and Angie trailing behind them.
Tenko: ‘S-sorry we’re so late! Yumeno-san was very tired’
Himiko: ‘Unaaa, so… tired… need coffee’
Gonta: Angie and Gonta also apologize greatly for being late. I take all the blame. I’m sorry for being so un-gentleman like.’
The four late-comers sat down at the table, joining the others. Each of the couples sat together at the circular table with the arrangement as so: Kaito, Maki, Kirumi, Korekiyo, Tenko, Himiko, Angie, Gonta.
Although Tenko wished to switch so she could sit away from a menace like Korekiyo, she kept quiet as she feared she would be moved away from Himiko.
Kaito: ‘So, now that everyone’s here, shall we order?’
Tenko: ‘Yes, please! Tenko is starving’
Himiko: ‘Do they sell coffee here?’
Korekiyo: ‘Most likely, it seems humans adore coffee, so it’s likely they would sell it for profitable reasons.’
They all took up their menus and began to browse through the almost endless list of options. The menu was truly overwhelming.
Everyone was being awkwardly silent. No one wanted to begin a conversation. Kaito could tell people were feeling a little uncomfortable, so he decided he should break the ice.
Kaito: ‘So Yumeno?’
Himiko: ‘Yeah?’
Kaito: ‘Do you want me to ask a waiter if they have a kids menu for you?’
He planned to make it less awkward, yet he managed to make the situation worse. Maki immediately elbowed him. He looked around to see Angie and Korekiyo giggling slightly while Kirumi looked towards Maki, both shaking their heads.
Tenko: ‘HOW DARE YOU INSULT YUMENO FOR HER HEIGHT YOU MENACE’
Himiko: ‘Call me a kid again… and I’ll turn you into frogs legs and eat you for dinner’
There was a short silence before he responded.
Kaito: ‘Does that still count as vore?’
Kirumi and Maki immediately spat out their drinks, spewing the water all over the table. Himiko turned a bright shade of red as Tenko began to rise from her chair, ready to pounce, before being asked to sit by Himiko. Angie was in tears laughing at this point. She loved Himiko but oh my god she couldn’t help but laugh. Gonta didn’t have a clue as to what was happening but he laughed because Angie was.
Korekiyo: ‘Well it’s good to know you still have your sense of humor.’
Kirumi: ‘Momota, although I appreciate the efforts to lighten the situation, that was very uncalled for’
Kaito: ‘Oh come on guys! That was pure gold! Amirite Angie?
Angie didn’t respond. Her and Gonta were in their own little world laughing at god knows what.
Himiko: ‘Well, it’s nice to see someone’s having fun’
After everyone had recovered from that event, the waiter finally came to take their orders.
Kaito: ‘I’ll have the barbecue chicken wings and nachos please’
Maki: *under breath* ‘could you have picked anything messier’
Kaito: What’s that Maki? You think the waiter is almost as handsome as me?’
Maki unsheathed a cutlery knife from under the table and ran it down Kaito’s leg threateningly. At least it shut him up.
Maki: ‘Sorry for his incompetence. I’ll have the chicken spring rolls and rice, thank you’
Kirumi: ‘I think I will have the caesar salad with extra parmesan please’
Korekiyo: ‘Interesting, interesting. In that case, I’ll go for the roasted duck with vegetables.’
Angie: ‘Um can Angie have like… the bloodiest burger you guys have? What’s that called again?
Kirumi: ‘Medium rare?’
Angie: ‘Yeah sure! What the maid said please UwU’
Gonta: ‘Ah! Gonta will have the same thing as Angie-san!’
Tenko: ‘Tenko will go for the turkey burrito with extra beans and rice!’
Himiko: ‘Umm… do you guys do chicken nuggets here?’
Waiter: ‘Of course! We do everything here!’
Himiko: ‘Ok I'll have chicken nuggets and chips’
Waiter: ‘Oh, by the way, I should mention that all kids under 12 eat free today so you’ll get your nuggets for free’
The waiter walked away to give the order to the chefs.
Himiko: ………………………………..
Maki: ……………………………………………..
Kirumi: …………………………………………………………………………………………….
Korekiyo: ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Angie: ‘nyaha, well that’s awkward’
Maki looked towards Tenko who seemed obviously frustrated and flustered.
Maki: ‘Chabashira? Is everything okay?’
Tenko: ‘Tenko is just going to the bathroom for a second’
Tenko stormed off in the complete opposite direction from where the bathrooms were and into the staff area.
Kaito: ‘I wondered what’s she’s doin-’
Tenko: ‘FACE THE PAIN OF MY AKIDO SKILLS FOR INSULTING MY GIRLFRIEND’
Maki and Gonta sprinted over and grabbed the angry girl as she flailed in their arms.
Tenko: ‘Let me go! I need to teach that menace a lesson!’
Maki dragged the angry girl back to her seat and calmed her down while Gonta spoke with and explained everything to the now traumatized waiter, begging him not to call the police or kick them out.
Korekiyo: ’That was quite to fun to watch I must say. A most impressive display by you Harukawa for calming her down.’
Maki: ‘Pretend nothing ever happened’
Tenko was sitting with her arms crossed and face red from blushing and rage. Himiko was looking up at her, still frustrated at the waiter but more so admiring her brave and caring girlfriend.
After even more awkward conversation the food finally came and in a surprisingly fast time. Everyone was starving and immediately began to dig into their food.
Maki: ‘Momota! Can you please chew with your mouth closed?’
Kaito: ‘What about Gonta! He’s eating with his hands and his mouth open!’
Everyone looked towards the giant, who was devouring his steak messily. He noticed the stares and blushed with a huge grin. He obviously didn’t hear Kaito and Maki’s conversation.
Maki: ‘Because he grew up with wolves, so he has an excuse. Anyways, it’s cute when he does it’
Kaito: ‘Aww Harumaki doesn’t think I’m cute?’
Tenko: ‘Neither does Tenko’
Kaito looked down, shocked by Tenko’s response and Maki’s lack of response, and returned to eating.
Kirumi: ‘This food is outstanding! How have I not heard of this place’
Korekiyo: ‘It is quite adorable when you get excited about these things Toujou’
Kirumi blushed and smiled, patting the sides of her mouth with her napkins.
Kaito: ‘I hope everyone's having a good time. Angie, you haven’t said much, is everything okay?’
Everyone looked towards where Angie was sitting. Or at least where she should have been sitting.
Kaito: ‘Angie!? Where are you?’
Gonta: ‘OH NO, GONTA LET HIS DATE GET LOST. GONTA IS A HORRIBLE BOYFRIEND’
Tenko: ‘Don’t worry Gonta! I’ll help you find her! It was probably that menace waiter who took her!’
Himiko: ‘unaaaaaaaaaaaaa.. She’s probably just gone to the bathroom. Now stop yelling and let me e-’
All of a sudden Angie popped up from under the table right in front of Tenko and Himiko, her mouth covered in the blood from the steak.
Angie: BOO!
Himiko & Tenko: ‘AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA’
Himiko immediately ran away from the situation, straight to the bathroom. Tenko followed behind her, calling out to the scared magician.
Gonta: ‘Angie! Are you okay?’
Angie: ‘Nyahaha! I got them so good! Right guys?’
Kaito: ‘That was awesome!’
Kirumi: ‘Oh Angie, you really scared those two. Perhaps you should make sure they’re okay?’
Angie: ‘Ahh ok ok, Gonta-san come with me! We’re going on an adventure!!!’
Gonta: ‘Right away!’
Gonta grabbed what remained of his and Angie’s steaks and ran behind her, into the girl's bathroom to Himiko and Tenko.
Kirumi: ‘I don’t think either of them realizes or care that Gonta’s in the girl's bathroom.
An unfamiliar scream came from the direction of the bathroom. All the remaining diners looked over to see a woman running out, with Gonta trailing behind her, carrying a bloody-faced Angie on his back’
Gonta: ‘I-I'm so sorry! That was not very gentleman like!’
Angie: ‘Faster! Faster!’
Maki sighed.
Maki: ‘Well this has been a hell of a night’
Korekiyo: ‘I think it’s of our best interest to end this date’
Kaito: ‘I’m sorry guys. It’s all my fault. I should’ve known this wouldn’t work’
Kirumi: ‘What do you mean? This was a very enjoyable evening. I mean Angie and Gonta are having fun, Korekiyo and I are having a lovely time and Himiko and Tenko are closer together.’
Maki: ‘You did a good job Kaito’
Kaito was teary-eyed at this point.
Kaito: ‘Im glad you all enjoyed it! How about we invite the rest to join us next time?’
Maki: ‘Or how about we keep this as a special once-off thing for now’
Kaito: ‘Fine, it’s a deal’
