Headcannons about the brothers having to deal with a human. So this would be when the human first moved in and there aren’t any romantic feelings between any of them yet.

Lucifer:

Before meeting MC the first time:

-He looks down at humans. To him they are insignificant bugs that happen to be able to communicate.

-Definitely isn’t all for this whole exchange program thing, especially when he finds out he’s going to be hosting one of the students.

-He would honestly take an angel over a human because he thinks angels will be able to hold a decent conversation with him. He hates angels but at least they are intelligent in his eyes.

-Genuinely thinks all humans are idiots and just get lucky and that’s how they’ve managed to get so far.

-Never understood why Lilith fell for a human but wasn’t going to tell her how to live her life.

-Sorcerers and witches aren’t really on the same level as humans to him. He finds them below him still, but they clearly have some more intelligence if they can hold so many positions of power and so much control.

After a week of knowing MC:

-He won’t say it but he is surprised that they aren’t completely idiotic. He was expecting more of a mess and a perpetual lack of care for their belongings but their room is decently clean so he’ll take it.

-He knows that music and dancing is important to human culture but why do they enjoy doing it in their rooms by themselves? Shouldn’t it be expressed in some group setting? Why are they singing in the shower?

-He’s also impressed with how...adaptable the human is. He won’t speak about it with his brothers, maybe with Diavolo, but he’s a bit weirded out by how easily the human has just accepted their current circumstance and willingness to cooperate. Is it some sort of defense mechanism? Are they planning something? Why are they so cooperative? Weren’t humans supposed to be determined and stubborn?

-While he still thinks all humans are idiots at this point he can definitely see that at least this one isn’t completely brain dead. They seem knowledgeable on some subjects that seem to interest them and have a curiosity that almost seems never ending.

-Speaking of curiosity he also hate that about them. The human has already inquired about multiple things that are common knowledge. Finds their questions frustrating because all of this information he knew even before the fall. Magic isn’t that complicated, stop being so impressed by a simple levitation spell.

Mammon:

Before meeting MC:

-Straight up just finds humans annoying. They’re loud, love to summon him for kicks and giggles, and are just all around dumb.

-Finds their lack of self preservation really confusing. Some of the ways people die are just idiotic to him.

-He will at least give credit to some humans on the compassion part of their nature. Some of them at least. Still finds them all stupid.

-Their life spans are so short compared to his it’s almost comical. He could blink and a whole new generation has come and gone.

-He kind of admires their curiosity though, especially with technology. He can remember when the first humans decided to make a plane and thought “Well...that’s new”.

-Grumbles about the exchange program and even gets into an argument with Lucifer about the fact that the human would be living with them in their house.

After a week of knowing MC:

-Boy was that week a roller coaster.

-Honestly kind of hates the human at first for forcing him into a pact with his brothers help. By the end of the week though he realizes that the human isn’t really going to be forcing him to do much.

-The whole being told to stay thing was annoying though. So fine, he won’t just refer to you as “human” anymore.

-He also thinks how adaptable the human is is weird. Shouldn’t they be putting up more of a fight? Demanding to go back home? Why are they so willing to work with everyone?

-Doesn’t mind all the curious questions the human has. Makes him feel smart knowing something this pathetic weakling doesn’t. He may have also given untrue information just to see if the human would catch on.

-All the music and dancing the human does in their room he can hear and it’s annoying. He doesn’t care if they like it or whatever, stop singing in the damn shower.

Leviathan:

Before meeting MC:

-Honestly likes humans. He thinks they’re creative at least, doesn’t seem them as equal to him but certainly doesn’t hate them.

-Also thinks they’re stupid but...a creative stupid. Laughs at the weird ways some of them die because how did they THINK that was going to end?

-He loves all the anime and games he can get, though he hates loot boxes and overpriced subscription services.

-They’re all still Noormies though if they don’t watch as much anime as him. Or TSL.

-Overall a bit more accepting of the exchange program...until he hears he has to live with one. They better not touch his stuff.

After knowing MC for a week:

-Gross noormie trying to be friends with him?! No thanks, you just want to touch his stuff.

-Thinks it’s funny how the human roped Mammon into a pact, is honestly a little surprised they haven’t used it much.

-The human is also clearly stupid because they didn’t even know how a pact worked. He knew all about the ins and outs of pacts loooong before they fell. How is that not common knowledge to humans?

-He likes Solomon only because Solomon isn’t as much of a noormie also because Solomon is pretty much the only one he can rant to about TSL stuff

-Doesn’t notice the music or dancing because he’s always got his headphones on but from the complaints of his brothers the human must be terrible or something.

-Doesn’t even notice how adaptable the human is until muuuch later when he sits and thinks about it. Also doesn’t really notice how many questions the human has because he doesn’t talk to them much.

Satan:

Before meeting MC:

-Another who though humans were creative though still dumb.

-His library is filled with all types of literature and a lot cane from the human world. Some of the ideas are a bit outdated but that’s fine, shows growth over time at least.

-He likes learning about all the different cultures and languages. The histories behind everything were fascinating to him.

-He was honestly a bit excited to live with the human. He could pick their brain about their culture from first hand experience rather than books! Also the idea of living with a human annoys Lucifer, that’s a win for him any day of the week.

After knowing MC for a week:

-He was honestly expecting more.

-Humans have some of the most interesting and creative stories and you’re telling him that the person he’s stuck living with isn’t some prodigy? What is even the point?

-Their questions are stupid but he loves giving wrong answers just to mess with Lucifer.

-He isn’t all that impressed with the pact they’ve made with Mammon, especially when he gets wind about how they did it. Mammon is an idiot, what did anyone expect?

-The music is interesting but also annoying. He can hear it coming from their room softly but he hates how it breaks the silence of the house. He’s used to the silence and sometimes someone playing the piano.

-He is the first one to pick up on how adaptable the human is but quickly realizes its out of fear and uncertainty rather than the human just accepting their current circumstances. He at least gives them props for realizing how to navigate their situation without intervention from him or his brothers much.

Asmodeous:

Before meeting MC:

-Humans are cute to mess with in bed. He likes breaking them with pleasure.

-He sees them as less than him sure but doesn’t have much of an opinion on their intelligence. He’s more interested in their fashion trends and new makeup formulas.

-Loves the drama of celebrities when he hears about it. Humans always have some new drama going on and it’s very entertaining.

-Doesn’t care much when he’s told that a human would be living with them. Just sees them as another potential partner in bed.

After knowing MC for a week:

-In short, he hates this.

-First off the human is completely immune to his charm! How could that possibly be?! He is the most beautiful demon in all of Devildom and this human has the audacity to NOT fall for him even with his powers?!

-Secondly the human has managed to get a pact with Mammon of all demons! The human he can’t even get in bed with him is more interested in his scummy theiving brother than himself?! EXCUSE ME?! A lower demon would have been more acceptable than what is currently happening!

-And thirdly the human doesn’t follow a hair and skin routine that is nearly up to his standards! Their fashion is a mess and their room looks like it was decorated by someone lacking any sort of critical eye! He’s definitely not just trying to throw around insults as a way to justify his immense discomfort over not being able to get his way immediately

-He doesn’t even notice the way the human seems to just accept their new life or all their questions. He’s so frustrated he just decides to avoid them unless necessary.

-He won’t admit it but he thinks the music and dancing around their room is cute. It’d be cuter with him though!

Beelzebub:

Before meeting MC:

-Fooooood

-Yeah pretty much just saw humans as another meal. Just a little bit more annoying to catch.

-He does like all their sports though, finds Rugby to be interesting to watch.

-He also thinks humans are dumb and lesser than him but also just doesn’t care. He doesn’t interact with them much so why should he hold it above their heads?

-When he hears about the exchange program and how they were going to host a human he got concerned. First off Belphie hates humans so how is that going to work? Secondly he likes to eat humans so how is he going to control himself?

After knowing MC for a week:

-Honestly just thinks they’re cute and need protecting. Though he isn’t going to offer it.

-They’re so small! He’s never really noticed how tiny humans are compared to him.

-Doesn’t mind the curiousity, he knows he’d be trying to figure everything out too if he was in their shoes.

-The music is a welcomed change. Beel thinks it’s too quiet all the time in the house so having a new noise is very much appreciated.

-Takes not of how quickly they seem to mold into their new lifestyle but doesn’t dwel on it too long, whatever keeps them alive I guess.

-Obviously will fight for food so they better not touch it but otherwise doesn’t really care what the human does.

Belphegor:

Before meeting MC:

-Oh we know very clearly how this boy felt about humans.

-Pure hate, doesn’t like them one little bit. Compassion his ass, all humans are scum to this mans eyes and have no redeemable qualities.

-Absolutely furious about the exchange program. Locked in the attic about it!

After knowing MC for a week:

-Okay so they have a little compassion and he is definitely just going to use this to his advantage.

-Thinks they’re a moron and just keeps tricking them with different things. Yup he’s definitely just some human that’s been locked up here. Mhm.

-He won’t admit it but he does enjoy talking to them a bit, makes it a little less lonely to have someone wanting to be around him.

-He doesn’t really mind all the questions. He knows more about humans than all his brothers and was already prepared to face their curiousity. He still find them stupid though.

-Finds it funny that they’ve already gotten a pact with Mammon, he is an idiot so it’s not surprising.

-Impressed but not surprised with how quickly they’ve adapted themselves to fit their current lifestyle. Humans always adapt to their situations after all.

-He can hear their music drift up to him sometimes. It’s pleasant to hear something besides the cold silence in the lonely attic.

Mic is playing the part well, actually trying not to get caught! Not a peep from here, even as Monika lists the ways to enjoy her. Of course, she's still probably getting much into the options, but she doesn't want it to be over that quick!

"Mnn~.", peeps a Mic from somewhere nearby, since she's still playing the part and also having a bit of fun.

"Maybe in a candy dish or with ice cream." She laughs as her belly growls. "Making myself hungry~ Now where is my fooooood?" Time to cheat a little. That tiny squeak is enough for her to have figured it out, probably. Or, you know, that's her excuse. She turns her Special Eyes on and starts looking around for the little blip of a Mic on her radar.

More things to do when quarantine is over:

•go to a spa. Never beeb, always wanted to

•i wanna go to a con again

•universal studios again. Specifically Halloween horror night.. I was going to go this year but I cant because of covid..........

•i want to have a get together. I can make some food and me and my friends can get together and watch movies

•i have always wanted to try larping

•i miss the fair. I like going to the fair.

•the halliween event at the farm. I miss it. Especially the haunted trail.

•I want to take a cooking class!

•i rlly want to go the the sailor moon and pretty cure store

•i once went to this biiiig hotel. Like apparently its the biggest non casino hotel in the world. It was huge. It had an entire town there. I just wanna hang out there for a few days idk. So basically there is a giant greenhouse with different paths leading to restaraunts, shops, a boat ride, a garden, ect. There is an entire tiny town here with a toy store and book store and stuff. There is a waterfall and a rlly good breakfast place and the waterfall and the garden just makes it rlly relaxing and i wanna go again.

•not rlly fun but i want to get therapy. I need to work through some things

•i want to work at this bakery in town

•i want to go to pride again

•I want to go to that art festival we usually have every year again

•we sometimes had these festivals that are like. Showing different cultures and it was very interesting+fooooood! There is one that i went to twice that was specifically japan. There was this tea ceremony demonstration and a ton of food trucks and shops and ect. There was even a retro light novel/manga shop but ofc they were all not in english and i didnt recognize any titles so i didnt buy any. I just like learning about other places. Also there was this guitarist that stared singing moonlight densetsu and that was pretty neat.

Hiya!! I’d love to know if you have places that are special to you and why? Like a park nearby, a cafe you love going to or something like that? Or possible holidays you’ve been on or want to go on? Hope you’re well 💕

Oooh interesting question!!

One cafe I love going to is this really small vegan place about 15 minutes from me, it’s so cosy and relaxing, the food is delicious and the people who work there are so lovely. They do all kinds of food from burgers to breakfast (I had American pancakes there once - YUM) and it is all SO GOOD, and I feel good eating there because I know it’s all ethical and plant-based. I’ve been there about four times now.

Another place I love but haven’t been to in a while is this tiny little village up in the mountains, it’s an old slate mining village and it’s SO CUTE. It’s a huge tourist hotspot now for hikers, walkers etc and it gets pretty busy, but it’s so lovely to go walking along the rivers and streams and you see the mountains and the huge piles of waste slate in the distance, it’s really atmospheric, very Welsh and it’s beautiful.

Three of my favourite places abroad are Amsterdam, Barcelona and Madrid. Amsterdam is so cool and old-timey, most of the buildings are over 400 years old in their original structure and the canals make for really lovely walks up and down the streets. Also, Dutch apple pie? Best. thing. EVER. Barcelona is stunning and one of my favourite cities. I could just walk around all day exploring. And Madrid has a London feel but cleaner and more Spanish, if that makes sense, and THE FOOD. THE FOOOOOOD.

I’m going to Budapest and Prague next in April and May respectively and after that, my dream destination is Greece and/or Cyprus or perhaps Vienna and Salzburg. I’d love to tick off every country in Europe!

The Worm Reads: Empire of Storms, Ch 1 - 2

Book: Empire of Storms

Author: Sarah J. Mass

Ah, my dear readers, what can one say about SJM? While I do admit there is some value in a few of her books (I quite enjoyed the early t0g novels) to say her writing has stirred controversy is a bit of an understatement. There are arguments for and against why her series are problematic and toxic, why her world building is atrocious and her characters overpowered and unlikable, but I believe every author deserves a chance. Let’s see if we can give EoS a good fair shake to see whether it holds up or not, shall we?

The prologue of this book starts right off with Princess Elena Galathynius and her broad shouldered boy toy Gavin (we all know SJM does enjoy herself a broad shouldered man or two) angsting over the inevitable doom and deaths of their friends while planning to flee the battle to buy themselves more time. I won’t bore you with details; it’s separate from the main plot, short, and doesn’t offend me that much. Moving on!

Chapter One

The real story kicks off with Elide Lochan, a character from the previous novel, running through the woods. Elide was one of the few characters I found myself endeared towards, for her sweet yet strong personality and her relationship with Manon.

Weeks. It had been weeks since Manon Blackbeak and the Thirteen had left her in this forest, the Wing Leader ordering her to head north. To find her lost queen, now grown and mighty—and to also find Celaena Sardothien, whoever she was, so that Elide might repay the life debt she owed to Kaltain Rompier.

For those not aware, SJM is extremely found of em dashes. Like, she uses them a lot. I’m guilty of this too, but at least I have the sense to edit them out before publishing works! Also oof, I can smell Celaena gushing coming up.

Unfortunately, Elide had learned the hard way about what water to drink. Three days, she’d been near death with vomiting and fever after gulping down that stagnant pond water. Three days, she’d shivered so badly she thought her bones would crack apart.

While I like the imagery used here, since you get the full picture of how cold she was..... Shouldn’t the sentence be “For three days”? Just stating three days and what she was doing has no connection.

She’d run out of food a week ago and had taken to scavenging for berries. They were all foreign, but a whisper of a memory from her years with her nursemaid, Finnula, had warned her to rub them on her wrist first— to see if they raised any reaction.

I actually really like this, It shows Elide is smart, has a good memory, and is resourceful. SJM, please don’t mess her up.

Maybe she’d made a wrong turn. How would she know when she’d crossed Terrasen’s border, anyway? And how would she ever find her queen—her court?

Unghhhhh she doesn’t mean Aelin does she? If Elide is used only to gush and fangirl over what an amazing queen Aelin is I’m gonna be ill.

Elide hears wyverns flying by and hides, before realizing....

Not witches or wyverns or beasts. But someone—someone was watching her. Someone was following her.

Manon has come to sweep her girlfriend off her feet! Right...?

Lorcan Salvaterre had been running from those gods-damned beasts for two days now.

Oh god no.

Here’s the thing; I like Lorcan as a villain. He was a threat that at least made the main characters sweat a little in the previous novel, to my memory. Surely he will continue to be a villain, perhaps Elide’s main rival in this novel? After all we have a paragraph describing how he tortured and killed some witches, so surely-

He’d been hiding here first, listening to the clamor of [Elide’s] clumsy approach, and had watched her stumble and limp when she finally heard what swept toward them. She was delicately built, small enough that he might have thought her barely past her first bleed were it not for the full breasts beneath her close-fitting leathers.

I’M... SPEECHLESS. Why is that what Lorcan notices about her?? Not her mature vibe, perhaps the determination on her face, but her breasts? He doesn’t even know this girl!! Also, just because a girl has big breasts doesn’t mean she’s older. I know girls as young as 14 with huge breasts. And while I like that SJM does acknowledge periods, which so many YA authors act like they don’t exist, the focus of it here makes me... uncomfortable.

The demon-possessed girl limped up the streambed, that useless knife still out, her grip on its hilt wholly ineffective. Good. And so Lorcan began his hunt.

Oh, so maybe he is going to be an enemy during this novel? I’d read a showdown between them. Preferably with Elide outwitting and kicking his ass.

Chapter 2

Crouched beside the brook, empty skins forgotten on the mossy bank, Aelin Ashryver Galathynius extended a scarred hand over the rushing water and let the song of the early-morning storm wash over her.

*inhales* Oh Aelin. A character most hate, and one I just honestly don’t know. There’s times where I like how arrogant and show off she can be, but other times she aggravates me, mostly due to the whole lost queen thing.

She breathed in the chill mists and fresh rain, dragging them deep into her lungs. Her magic guttered in answer, as if yawning good morning and tumbling back to sleep.

I actually like the way SJM describes magic, as if its its own sentient being that lives within its owner. Too bad there’s no magic system or anything actually done with this imagery.

Across the brook, atop a mossy boulder tucked into the arms of a gnarled oak, a pair of tiny bone-white fingers flexed and cracked, a mirror to her own movements. Aelin smiled and said so quietly it was barely audible over the stream and rain, “If you have any pointers, friend, I’d love to hear them.”

The Little Folk illustrate my biggest issue with SJM; she comes up with cool fantasy concepts and characters, and never does anything with them. The Little Folk serve little purpose (ha), but I love them!! I love this scene with the Little Folk mirroring her movements. But I’m willing to wager SJM is never gonna bring them up again.

But they’d left small gifts just outside the border of Rowan’s nightly shields, somehow deposited without alerting whichever of them was on watch.

I’m stanning the Little Folk. They’re magic and skilled enough to outwit even Rowan and they bring them cute handmade gifts? Give me a Little Folk spin off.

Soggy leaves crunched behind her, and Aelin knew it was only because Rowan wanted her to hear his approach. “Careful, or they’ll leave something wet and cold in your bedroll next time.”

*inhales* Hoo boy, Aelin/Rowan time. This should be... interesting.

Strong hands slid over her waist, tugging her into his warmth, as Rowan’s lips grazed her neck, right under her ear. Aelin arched back into him while his mouth roved across her throat, heating mist-chilled skin. “Good morning to you,” she breathed.

And already they’re acting hornier than teenagers right now. Great. I mean, I’m not opposed to characters being in sexual relationships or expressing this, but God, these two take it waaaay too far. They think about sex 24/7 and it gets exhausting after a while.

“If you want to take a bath so badly,” Rowan murmured against her neck, “I spotted a pool about a quarter mile back. You could heat it—for both of us.” She ran her nails down the back of his hands, up his forearms. “I’d boil all the fish and frogs inside it. I doubt it’d be very pleasant then.”

(...)

A dark laugh against her now-burning skin. It was an effort to keep from taking one of his hands and guiding it up to her breasts, to beg him to touch, take, taste.

Like, can we get them having a nice romantic moment without them being so sex hungry for once? I barely have any feel of a connection between them aside from the fact that they are DTF. I wouldn’t have an issue if this was an erotica novel, but this is supposed to be epic fantasy.

Aelin expositions about how they’re planning to meet some lords from Terrasen, and how Lorcan is under the impression that he has the real Wyrdkey. Hopefully this means we’ll be getting some awesome fantasy content soon.

He gave her a wry smile and aimed a pointed look at Goldryn, sheathed across her back, and the various knives strapped to her. “And besides: I thought ‘cloak-and-dagger’ was your middle name.” She offered him a vulgar gesture in return.

Wait, why is SJM censoring the middle finger? I’d understand if this was an actual YA novel, but this book has graphic sex scenes. Why can’t she write Aelin flipping someone off? Unless Aelin is doing some other hand gesture?

No matter that Aelin was the bearer of a weapon capable of wiping out this entire valley, along with the gray Staghorn Mountains watching over it. And that was just her magic.

*sigh* We get it SJM, Aelin is the most special powerful sorcerer to ever exist.

“You trust nothing.” She met his eyes. “I trust you.”

If this was for a ship I liked, I’d be squealing with delight. But then the two of them proceed to make out yet again, and immediately the smile on my face dies as I am forced to yet again read paragraphs of Rowan forcing his tongue down Aelin’s throat.

So Aelin kissed Rowan gently, his hands again locking around her hips. “Fireheart,” he said onto her mouth. “Buzzard,” she murmured onto his.

Okay, I will admit. Couples having special nicknames for each other is one of my favorite tropes. I’ll admit, Aelin calling Rowan buzzard is kinda sweet if you ignored how shitty their relationship is.

Evangeline howled, “Fooooood!” Fleetfoot’s answering howl followed a heartbeat later. Then Lysandra’s snarl rippled toward them, silencing girl and hound.

Lysandra!!! Another character I loved. She is so strong and overcomes her abuser and her trauma to become a badass warrior, and plus she has girl friendship with Aelin! I’d read a series about Elide and Lysandra traveling around the world together.

When she looked back, Rowan was halfway to the camp, Evangeline’s red-gold hair flashing as she bounded through the dripping trees, begging the prince for toast and eggs.

....... eggs and toast? In the middle of the forest? Not what I’d expect, but alright.

And Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen, knew the time would soon come to prove just how much she’d bleed for Erilea.

Sure, sweetheart. Also, you’re not a queen yet. You haven’t been crowned or declared ruler officially.

We switch to Aedion’s POV. I suspect if SJM let him have a motive and personality outside of worshiping Aelin, he;d be a good character.

[Lysandra] had used these weeks of travel to try out new forms: birds, beasts, insects that had a tendency to buzz in his ear or bite him. Rarely —so rarely—had Lysandra taken the human form he’d met her in.

I love Lysandra. That is all.

[Aelin]’d grown quieter the farther north they’d traveled. Perhaps weeks on the road had sapped her. After tonight, depending on what the lords reported, he’d try to find her a quiet place to rest for a day or two before they made the last leg of the trek to Orynth.

Again, had this been any other characters, it’d be sweet of him to know his cousin so well that he knows when she’s tired and want her to rest. But like, Aedion’s entire character revolves around Aelin it’s tiresome.

“Darrow was your uncle’s lover,” he added, stretching his legs out before him. “For decades. He’s never spoken once to me about your uncle, but... they were very close, Aelin. Darrow didn’t publicly mourn Orlon beyond what was required after the passing of a king, but he became a different man afterward. He’s a hard bastard now, but still a fair one. Much of what he’s done has been out of his unfading love for Orlon—and for Terrasen. His own maneuvering kept us from becoming completely starved and destitute. Remember that.” Indeed, Darrow had long straddled a line between serving the King of Adarlan and undermining him.

Oooo, a LGBT character! Very nice! However, from that description of Darrow being a supposed bastard, I’m worried he might be the villain. Which wouldn’t be a problem if there were other LGBT characters, but since Darrow is the only confirmed one that comes to mind at current, this might turn out bad.

The flames pulled apart like drawn curtains to allow [Evangeline] and Fleetfoot, sensing the child’s fear and pressing close, passage to an inner ring that would not burn her. But would melt the bones of their enemies.

Um, why is that a fragment? Shouldn’t the phrase read, “(...) passage to an inner ring that would not burn her, but would melt the bones of their enemies”?

So they are startled by the arrival of a messenger and Rowan puts a knife to his throat. I’d understand if he did this until the messenger tells them who he is, but seriously? Keeping a blade at the guy’s throat? He’s the messenger of the people you want to be allies with!

Lmfao it literally takes Aedion pointing this out for Rowan to chill out.

Her magic simmered in response. And that [amulet]—that hideous power hanging between her breasts—seemed to open an ancient eye at all the commotion.

Again, a nit pick, but why is SJM so fascinated with the amulet being between Aelin’s breasts? It seriously takes away from the impact of the sentence, which is trying to make the amulet sound dangerous but all I can think about is the amulet squished between her boobs. It would’ve been better to simply say the amulet around her neck or something.

So the messenger tells them the lords won’t be coming out to the forest, which is honestly understandable. They’re old and can’t travel as well as the younger characters, and it’s raining outside.

So those were the first two chapters. Well, it isn’t too bad so far, but not great either. Honestly, I’m just weirded out by SJM’s focus on the women’s breasts. If this was an erotica novel, I’d have zero problems with it, but considering this book is supposed to be epic fantasy, it just pulls me out of the story every time it is focused on. But we’ll see if SJM can do better with the next chapters.

Akhirnya kamu tiba

So finally after 16 hours of fly, you made it you are in Jakarta for your exchange !

Hourray !

The fly was wonderful, you took the saudia airlines, the hostess where beautiful and kind, the fooooood was sooo yummy yummy. They gave you food 3 times and you ate everything you glouton ! The transit in Jeddah was sooo stressing. You didn't like it much. But it was fine.

Soekarno-Hatta airport ! Here you are. It is so big ! So clean and there is toilets, charger station, for your (android) phone everywhere. Everything is well indicated. 9/10 for this airport !

Unfortunately you buddy could not make it to pick you up, so she kindly ask another Buddy. So you met tiny ( false name duh) she's sooo kind and sweet with you. She explained you everything, gave you a lot of tips ~ the drive carried your lunggage until your room. And tiny proposed you to hang out , just to eat something.

So yeah you went for this nasih goreng and the mango juice 😂

Day 7 & 8 - Sinchon BBQ and Insadong!

So on Day 8 we didn’t do that much! We laid around in bed because we had plans to meet our friend for dinner in Sinchon and eat at this BBQ place she used to eat at when she was here for a semester!

We waited outside for an hour to eat at this place. A whole hour in the cold. IN THE COLD. FOR BBQ.

And you know what? It was WORTH IT.

This was easily the best kbbq I’ve ever had. Like, oh my god it was soooooo good?! They dump kimchi (or some type of kimchi, it’s a lot sweeter than normal kimchi) on half of it, and that shit just COOKS while you’re letting the meat and stuff cook. There’s not a TON of meat options but the two that we got were SO GOOD. We got multiple rounds of this one type (I wish I had figured out what it was huhu) because it was so damn good. We had that and samgyeopsal. I also drank 2 beers and some soju and was feeling LIT after both hahaha.

God it was so good.

After we left we went down in the subway station at Sinchon and not only was there a Kakao friends mini store where I bought an expensive ass portable battery shaped like Ryan and almost drunkenly forgot my debit card (thanks Jerry, you’re a real one) but there was a NERDY STOREEEEE. 😭Jonghyun from CNBlue like, owns NERDY so seeing it in the wild makes me so happy. I even took a picture of it to feel close to my man, LMAO.

Then we went home and I went to bed, lol.

DAY 9

Today we went to Insadong!! It was really neat, there was a lot of traditional stuff there, but it was also more modern than I was expecting? We didn’t go to the Hanok village because I wasn’t paying attention and walked in the complete opposite direction from it and by the time we headed back to Anguk station we were both pretty tired and hungry and wanted to head back.

However! Anguk station is really pretty and has a lot of art!

We took the advice of this travel video that we watched and took a shortcut to Insadong main streets by going through this TINY little alley way. It was still super neat because it was lined with the tiniest tea houses and little cafes and restaurants.

When you come out of exit 6 at Anguk station, you’ll see the police station on the left, and the entrance of this alley way is like directly across from the subway entrance! It’s hard to miss. Go through here and you’ll get right to the middle of Insadong main street!

This was in the corner. Sooooo much good smelling food.

We ended up going to this little restaurant down an alley and omg, the yookgaejang was so damn good.

There was quite a bit tucked away in this alley! We ate here:

Size of a shoebox but worth the navigating. I love fooooood!!

We walked around for a little bit, checking out shops and stuff, and then LO AND BEHOLD I FOUND A CAT CAFE AND I ALMOST CRIED.

It’s called 2CATS and it’s on the 3rd floor at Insadong!! Omg I was so happy. I didn’t find a good cat cafe yet and I wanted to go to one so bad, lol.

The stairway up to it was COVERED in these little framed pictures of famous people with cats. DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS?

Spoiler alert: YES

So fancy. It looked like a cat museum! It was W12,000 to get in and you got a free drink!

This was the first cat I encountered and SO CUUUUUTE in the sweater!! Her name is Cleo and she was sooo soft.

I got a peach juice and it was super yummy. We sat down by this little wall where there was a cat sleeping away with a toy tucked into her paws.

AHHHH. And then SHE WOKE UP! She’s a scottish fold and her name is Beonya. Adorable. So cute. Loved pets.

Seriously this place was decorated sooo cutely. All those photos framed are photos of famous people holding cats LOL. There’s so much space for the cats to run around and so many little shelves and places to sleep so they can be up high near the ceiling!

I forgot this cat’s name but look how PUUUURDYYYY. This cat loved pets and let me pet it for a good five minutes uninterrupted.

This is kind of hard to see, but there’s a cat SITTING IN MY LAP AHHHHH. You can buy a bag of chicken at this place to give the cats treats for only W2,000!! The cats are sooo cute when they’re waiting for you to feed them, or they might just jump into your lap. There was a younger tween aged girl who was feeding one and she didn’t see the one waiting so it jumped on her shoulder!! It was sooo cute, she was so surprised but she giggled and gave it treats and then it sauntered away~

But seriously the chicken treats made alllll the cats come out and give lovin’ and get treats. Look at these!!

Gorg. This cat was so sweet and took treats so sweetly.

This cat was so FLUFFY!!! It was a little more aggressive about taking treats--if you weren’t fast enough, it tried to take them from your hand with its paw LOL.

I LITERALLY AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CAT!! It was so weird looking. I’m pretty sure it was like a mix of dwarf cat and something else because it honestly looked like a pipe cleaner you use for crafts. But it was soooooooo cute and so friendly and rubbed on my legs for FOREVER and even wanted tummy pets. I love this cat and I already miss it I wanted to take it home so bad ksjsfkjgfg.

After we left, we just walked around a little. We watched them make Dragon’s Beard candy and the guy making it was so cute!! He did a demo for us and gave us a little sample of it. Watch here:

We saw this tiny little mall thing but didn’t go into any of the shops because it was REALLY crowded in there. However Insadong was really, really cool and I’m hoping we’ll make time to visit the Hanok village before we go!

So pretty.

After that, we just went to a restaurant by our Airbnb and came back to the room. I took a shower and now we’re just relaxing getting ready for bed--tomorrow we’re off to Gangnam to see the COEX Mall and stuff!
