dimitri learned most of his duscur from dedue. dedue is from a working-class family from the duscur border. dedue's border-town tradesperson's duscur accent is inflecting dimitri's Literal Royalty Accent faerghan, where most bilingual faerghans would be starting from a working/trades-class west faerghan accent. never mind that learning a language from one (1) native speaker who is himself not fully fluent in your first language is going to result in a weird-ass idiolect by nature.
what i mean to say is that when diplomacy reopens, the king of faerghus can negotiate (& makes a point of negotiating) in duscur, but he sounds like a hick and fucking weird

Ok, I'll bite: Hilda/Claude/Lorenz, what's their deal? (I enjoyed FE3H a lot! Played all the routes, though it's been a while, and the only pairings I still have any attachment to are Felix/Annette and Annette/Mercedes...)
Thank you so much for asking, I’m sorry for the wait. My first two attempt at this ended up being five/six page essays. I have been. Trying to whittle it down.
The core fundamental is that I genuinely believe the three of them bring out the best in each other, are capable of challenging each other in ways that are necessary, and ultimately balance each other out. Explanation under the cut.
Politics is incredibly important to both Claude and Lorenz, and the three of them are good for each other politically. And not just because of crests or titles.
Lorenz and Claude challenge each other politically in necessary ways for their own growth and success.
Lorenz holds Claude accountable for the decisions he tries to make behind closed doors.
Claude shows Lorenz that the belief system he’s been raised in is fundamentally flawed and broke.
Hilda’s interpersonal skills make her a good diplomat to balance the boys out.
She shares Claude’s ability to manipulate others through charisma but is less willing to go to nefarious places with it. When Claude gets lost in the gambit she can reel him back in.
She’s genuinely liked and trusted by her peers in all the areas that Lorenz fails struggles with.
They’re basically fluent in different languages. Claude can talk strategy, Lorenz can talk nobility, Hilda can talk people.
Interpersonally, they understand and benefit one another.
Claude hides behind a mask of charisma to feign the illusion of openness yet despite his best attempts Hilda and Lorenz see him holistically.
Hilda/Claude A support - Hilda: “If you understand me so well, maybe it's because you're no different. When you smile or laugh, it's not sincere. I can tell. I've only seen you genuinely smile a handful of times.”
Lorenz sees him for all his worst qualities first (lying, scheming, deceitful) and yet still ultimately concludes that he’s a good and moral man worthy of his position.
Claude doesn’t want anyone to see behind the mask because the mask is an armour protecting him from a world that wants him dead. But both of them look him directly in the eyes and tell him I see you, I see all of you, even the things that you don’t want seen, and I’m standing by your side anyway.
And again, they keep him grounded.
Hilda hides behind her charisma and lazy persona to keep other peoples expectations of her at bay. Claude and Lorenz both help her thrive past her fear of disappointment.
Claude sees right through her act (see A support)
She’s his second in command. If she dies he says every strategy he had was planned around her survival. He understands where her strengths and interests intersect and utilizes them. And she seems to take genuine pride in that work.
Lorenz doesn’t see through her but he values her and encourages her anyway. She’s literally playing him but his response is just so genuine she starts matching his effort anyway without even intending to. She is used to being treated like a liability, but he never treats her that way.
Left to their own devices the boys will work themselves to an early grave and forget to have a life without politics. Hilda will not let that happen.
Lorenz was raised to be a nationalist and taught to believe that he alone had the skills to, basically, make the Alliance great again. Literally, his father had the only known heir murdered to help him advance to the Dukedom. He has some shit to unlearn and they were here to help him unlearn it.
Canonically, Claude’s mere existence and proximity to him helps Lorenz unlearn and re-evaluate his fathers teachings. And while its not his responsibility to educate there’s no way Mr. I-Want-To-Tear-Down-The-Walls-That-Divide-Us isn’t readily doing so on purpose.
Hilda, on paper, should not make a good noble and yet everyone loves her and hates him. He will question why, and he will realize that his restrictive worldview caused him to miss both of their best qualities.
Seeing them succeed interpersonally will show him he’s been wrong and encourage him to grow and change. And when he does, they will be there to celebrate him.
That pathway accomplishes all the things I’ve already spoken about - Lorenz realizes his belief system is flawed, and Claude and Hilda have love and support offered to them through the parts of them they see as most unlovable.
He is the only member of this trio that is actually being open and honest with others. He might be lying to himself but he will tell you exactly what he’s thinking. And he’s going to hold the others to his standards of honesty too.
I genuinely believe they’d all be best friends.
It’s honestly harder to argue that Claude and Hilda aren’t canonically really good friends. Do I even need to defend their friendship.
Claude and Lorenz love a good debate/game of strategy. They might drive each other insane while at the academy but they’re intentionally meeting up for chess weekly minimum.
Hilda and Lorenz absolutely do tea dates and gossip. She’d find him so funny, and he wouldn’t know what to make of her but she’s fucking Hilda Valentine Goneril.

There’s also just so much humor and fun to be found with this dynamic. To display this, my peak academy dynamic for them is as follows:
Lorenz is convinced he’s living in a spy thriller. Claude is an Almyran spy and he is going to prove it.
Claude is a little intimidated by how close to the truth he is but Lorenz is just so pathetic he basically discredits himself. He’s Threat Lite. He needs to be watched but is mostly just a funny little guy to him. It’s a spy thriller to Lorenz but Loony Toons for Claude.
Claude and Hilda are just besties who are casually sleeping together. They gossip. It’s fun.
She’s also besties with Lorenz. They have tea and gossip and she thinks that whatever is wrong with him is so so fun.
I can not stress enough that this is just high school for her.
Lorenz however is ALSO living in an Austenian drama. He believes Claude and Hilda to be courting, a heart breaking reality as he has found himself falling for Hilda.
Hilda watches the boys play weirdly homoerotically charged games of chess like “omg you want to fuck each other so bad it makes you both look pathetic”
She WILL say as much to both of them who are equally horrified by the accusation. “I think if you fucked you’d fix each other actually.” They staunchly disagree.
They are 100% blaming those embarrassing dreams they keep having on her and absolutely nothing else.

FE3H Musing: Byleth's Influence on the World
Maybe the most interesting thing to me about the 3 Hopes Demo is the implication that the plot of 3 Hopes is what would have happened if Byleth had never come into the lives of the three Lords. Edelgard more or less outright says that Monica's rescue (and what happens subsequently) is ONLY possible because all the stars align perfectly to make it so: Kostas not surviving the first encounter and so his bandits fleeing back to the Slithers rather then holding up in Zanado, the Black Eagles getting Jeritza as a teacher allowing them to move with more lateral an emboldening Edelgard to take more risks. My strong suspicion is that the other two demos are the same way: focusing on how the lack of Blyeth's presence at the academy and in their lives pushes the leaders in strange ways, and onto paths they never expected.
The game appears to be wanting to show the influence, good and bad, that Byleth had on the Three Lords, and the paths they choose, which is fascinating on a lot of levels, especially given how Shez is more of their own character then Byleth was. In a way 3 Hopes is turning to the player and saying 'this is what you did, this how you shaped the future, and if you hadn't this is what would have happened'.
And the fact that it's not entirely depicted as a BAD THING either. Is. Pretty bold.

Kinda dreading the possibility that I won’t enjoy Three Hopes’ mosh pit-type gameplay enough to go through the game three times.
#for example I enjoyed Persona 5 a lot but couldn't quite get into Strikers#I am not at all familiar with these warrior-type games#but it seems very similar#I guess story is a bigger incentive here#but still#maybe it will finally be time to watch a playthrough#on a side note#god I hope the alternative timeline is deliberately kicked off by Byleth via time travel#that would be a great exploration of the concept that the fandom was raving on about this couple of years#here's to hoping if you will#fire emblem#fire emblem three houses#fire emblem three hopes#three houses#three hopes#fe3h

Hey, a while back you did a bunch of Genshingirls walking in on their S/O with a body pillow of them. Why don’t we flip the script this time? S/O walks in to see the girls (or guys!) with a body pillow of *them*!
One character I do ask for is Bernadetta.
(Genshin Impact/FE3H) Furina, Ayaka, Yae, Shenhe, Kokomi, Bernadetta, Edelgard, and Marianne with a body pillow of their S/O
The implications of someone making a body pillow of yourself is both hilarious and terrifying.
Furina's eyes go wide once the door opens, leading her to rush something underneath the blanket seeing her S/O.
(S/O) "Hey, I'm ba-...Furina?"
She has her usual smug expression as she dramatically blew a kiss to them.
(Furina) "Ah, welcome back dear! I must say you are home far earlier than I expected!"
(S/O) "Is everything alright? You're sweating a lot."
(Furina) "Ah? This? I just summoned one of my little friends to cool me off is all!"
(S/O) "On our bed?"
...
S/O walked over to them and immediately put their hand on her forehead, stunning her for a moment.
(S/O) "Your face is burning hot! Jeez, no wonder you needed them. Let's get you a change of clothes-"
(Furina) "W-WAIT!"
S/O ripped off the blanket and saw themselves on a pillow, forcing them to make sure they weren't going insane.
Furina for her part was doing her best impression of a tomato, with her two fingers awkwardly tapping the blanket and doing everything in her power to not look them in the eyes.
(S/O) "Why do you...H-How...?!"
(Furina) "L-LISTEN! YOU WEREN'T HOME AND..."
Furina began pouting as she put the blanket up to her face, probably about to explode from embarassment.
S/O was flattered at least, but...who even gave this to her?
(S/O) "Where have you been hiding this whenever I have been home?"
(Furina) "...Closet."
Her muffled voice responded.
Ayaka felt that having a body pillow of her S/O felt so...strange.
It was so weird, who even has this kind of thing of their significant other?!
But...it was not too dissimilar from keeping a picture of them, so maybe....?
Ayaka hides the pillow from everyone, and not a single soul besides her knows about it.
Whenever she was missing them, Ayaka would hold onto the pillow, counting the days until S/O could return.
...Until her door slid open.
(S/O) "Surprise! I'm here early-"
Ayaka's absolutely mortified expression speaks for itself as its inches away from a picture of S/O, pasted onto the pillow.
The two said nothing as they kept unblinking eye contact.
(Ayaka) "...Please don't tell anyone about this."
Yae commissioned an artist that she knows to put S/O onto a pillow.
There was something similar going on with Ei, which gave her this idea to begin with.
Yae put the pillow right smack in the middle of the bedroom and waited for S/O's arrival that night.
She could already imagine their reaction, but why imagine it when you can just see it?
Finally, Yae could hear the door creak open, and her smirk increased tenfold.
(S/O) "Yae, I'm home. Hm, what's that on-"
Yae bursts out laughing when S/O pauses and their face scrunches up upon seeing themselves.
Wiping away a tear from her eye, she greets S/O.
(Yae) "Is something the matter, I thought you'd appreciate me always thinking of you."
(S/O) "Why is it so well drawn?"
(Yae) "I paid someone a substantial amount of Mora to get your likeliness down well, little one.~"
She starts laughing again seeing their exasperated sighing.
Shenhe was gifted a body pillow of S/O, strangely enough by Cloud Retainer.
(Cloud Retainer) "One believes that you would appreciate a reminder of your loved one in physical form. At least, that is what the Traveler has spoken."
And Shenhe not really knowing how ANY human interaction works, took it at face value as well.
After all, Shenhe does feel that strange longing in her heart for S/O, there was at least this nice picture of them to keep her satisfied until now.
S/O eventually comes home to find Shenhe hugging the pillow of themselves in the living room, making them do a double take.
(S/O) "...Shenhe?"
(Shenhe) "S/O. It's good to see you again."
Her eyes slightly narrow.
(Shenhe) "Is something wrong? Your expression is changed."
(S/O) "Is...that a pillow of myself?"
(Shenhe) "Yes. It was a gift from master."
S/O noticed how tightly Shenhe was holding onto the pillow, before they came in, and she proceeded to hug them just as tight.
(Shenhe) "It brings...some comfort when you are not here."
S/O sighed, but gave her a smile.
(S/O) "That's touching...in a weird way."
(Shenhe) "How is a pillow of you weird?"
(S/O) "Hoo boy..."
Kokomi's body pillow of S/O: +1000 Energy
It embarrasses her to no end that the pillow actually boosts her energy.
But if she couldn't cuddle with her S/O, then there was the next best thing!
At least, that was the plan until the real one walked into her hideaway.
(S/O) "Kokomi, I brought some sna-"
She was so tired that she didn't even notice them.
Kokomi has a soft smile, hugging the pillow of them tightly as her shoulders relaxed.
S/O walked up to Kokomi, unsure to call her name again or tap her in the shoulder.
Both would equally startle her, considering.
They would have to do neither, as Kokomi opened her eyes and saw them standing in front of her.
(Kokomi) "AAAGH?! S-S/O?!"
She quickly tried to hide the body pillow behind her before giving up and sighing.
(Kokomi) "I'm...s-sorry."
S/O gave her a smile before hugging her, letting her relax into their embrace.
All the while, respectfully not looking at themselves.
(S/O) "...How long have you had that pillow, Kokomi?"
(Kokomi) "Please don't tease me about that, dear."
Okay, even Bernadetta could admit that having a pillow of her boyfriend/girlfriend was weird.
But...it brought her comfort, and no one really entered her room anyway, so who cares?
It's not like anyone was gonna see it.
She holds onto the pillow like a lifeline, sighing in content.
(Bernadetta) "Oh, Pillow S/O, thank you for bringing me comfort in my times of need..."
(S/O) "...I don't do that?"
(Bernadetta) "Of course you do! Like nothing el-"
She realized that it spoke up, and slowly turned behind her.
(S/O) "...H-Hi."
Bernadetta was completely frozen in place, eyes widened in absolute terror.
(S/O) "Please tell me you didn't get Ignatz to draw that for you-"
(Bernadetta) "I-IT WAS A GIFT, I SWEAR!"
(S/O) "I'm...not sure that's any better, sweetie..."
It was absolutely disgraceful to Edelgard to have a pillow of her S/O!
The Emperor of Adrestia needs to have more tact than...whatever the hell this was.
But at the same time...she didn't have the heart to throw it away.
She instead keeps it, but WELL out of sight of anyone that could find it.
Honestly, Edelgard would rather a thief find her gold than this pillow.
Unfortunately for her, someone worse found it.
(S/O) "Edelgard, is my clothes in the closet? I can't seem to find my jacket."
(Edelgard) "Hm? Oh yes, it should be-"
Her eyes shoot wide open as she quickly spins around, and rushes to the closet door.
She slammed it shut, giving S/O a panicked look.
(S/O) "WOAH! W-What's gotten int-"
(Edelgard) "B-BY THE EMPEROR'S DECREE, I FORBID YOU FROM OPENING THAT DOOR!"
As if on cue, the door instead fell over to the side from Edelgard's strength, and out flopped the body pillow of S/O onto the ground.
(S/O) "..."
(Edelgard) "..."
Marianne truthfully didn't even want this body pillow.
It was gifted to her by Raphael, and she couldn't say no.
The picture portraying S/O was tasteful and quite well drawn, but who keeps a picture of someone they love on a pillow?
It just felt extremely awkward, and Marianne did not want to deal with it.
She was in her room with Hilda, not sure what to do.
(Hilda) "Wow, okay that's kinda creepy. But sweet too, in a weird way!"
(Marianne) "I suppose, but it seems rude to throw it away if it's so well crafted."
(Hilda) "Iunno. Maybe hang it on a wall? It is a picture after all!"
The door to her bedroom opened, and both of them saw S/O enter.
(S/O) "Hey Mari-...Oh, Hilda! What are you doing in here?"
(Hilda) "Heya. Just trying to figure out what to do with this gift."
(S/O) "What gi-....Oh."
All three of them stared at the picture, unsure what to do.
(S/O) "Um...did you?-"
(Marianne) "I did not make this..."
(S/O) "O-Okay good..."
(Hilda) "Well whatever you guys decide to do, just don't let Claude se it!"
Marianne and S/O gave each other an awkward glance, putting it gently into their closet and deciding it'd be best to figure that out later.
They forgot about it, and Marianne gets jumpscared by the pillow of S/O sometimes.

Some fe3h OC things! More under the cut (spoilers warning!)
Backstory: Kitt was born in a remote village in the Oghma Mountains that held a tradition of keeping distinctly marked stones as family heirlooms and good luck charms. For a time, things were peaceful, until the some mysterious mages began to travel in and out of the village. Over time the villagers began to exhibit signs of illness and strange behaviour. By the time the Church had heard the news and sent their Knights to investigate, most of the villagers were either dead or transformed into Demonic Beasts.
The sole survivor Kitt was found by Flayn and Seteth, in a death-like state, the fragment of a Crest Stone fused to their neck. Flayn begged Seteth to help save the injured, convulsing Kitt. Their transformation was miraculously halted by a ritual and a heavy transfusion of blood, which was sanctioned by Rhea.
Thereafter, Kitt was transported to the Monastery, where they spent a year in recovery. While the new blood in their veins stabilized the effect of the Crest Stone permanently fused to their neck, they continue to exhibit bizarre reactions in combat, especially when monsters are close.
Kitt was welcomed by Seteth and Flayn as family for a time, but has grown to distrust the Church due to their politics and secret-keeping, believing that lives could be saved if certain truths were revealed to the world. Nowadays, they spend their time exploring the woods outside of Garreg Mach, actively seeking Demonic Beasts in the area to hunt and kill. It is revealed that the transfusion of blood, despite saving Kitt's life, is unlikely to completely prevent their transformation further down the road.
They view Professor Byleth as a calming presence and can relate to the circumstances of being caught up in Church politics and secrets without having a say in how to live their life. They believe in fate as a force that not even the Goddess necessarily has full control over, but that it can be influenced in small ways by even the most ordinary of actions, hence their superstitious beliefs.
They are especially concerned about being able to reign in their strength during a fight and not losing their cool.
They are can be recruited in all story paths and will gladly follow Byleth to the end.
Paralogue: 'Rites of Requiem'
Against the advice of the church, Kitt is determined to visit the ruins of their home village. It is swarming with Demonic Beasts - but with Byleth's help, they are able to put the transformed villagers to rest. On the body of one such beast, Kitt finds a talisman, which belonged to their family. The center stone is missing, but it still resonates with power. Kitt senses that it is probably safe for them to hold onto.

Fire Emblem: 3 Games in a Trenchcoat
Historical Wargame: Guys we're gonna do fantasy medieval Europe but like, gritty and realistic. Class differences, institutional religion, and political marriages are all normal. So the nobles are bastards, the Church is repressive, and the common folk are illiterate and oppressed. We can do magic bloodlines but stuff needs to stay low fantasy and historical. Also this is Fire Emblem so war is hell and anyone can die, and we're gonna make it morally grey about whether the red emperor or blue lord is actually right and--
Dating Sim: No fuck that, players actually have to want to date the characters?? no one wants to date historically accurate racists. You gotta make the noble characters nice and humble, the commoners quirky with a heart of gold, and the Church should be totally chill with a cool MILF Pope who personally rescues orphans. Also everyone needs an angsty sympathetic backstory and a good ending after you help them deal with it, especially the lords because people are gonna want to date them the hardest--
JRPG: okay but what if the milf pope was secretly a dragon and the goddess was real and also a dragon and there's a magitek evil mole people cult who've been trying to destroy dragons and humanity for 1000 years until the MC who's the goddess's reincarnation shows up with time travel powers and their ultimate weapon is a glowy whipsword that's the goddess's spine and actually everyone should have cool glowy dragon bone weapons and--
anyway tl;dr FE3H is a great game but it barely even remembers what it's trying to say about its own story half the time, everyone stop taking it so seriously, peace

MODERN/COLLEGE AU
❦. i see them as being college kids w their academy selves
❦. catalina is always really pushing herself in her studies, maybe she would even be double majored so she ends up doing LONG study sessions in the library
❦. claude is there to check up on her though ofc, ryan put the idea in my head that he would come see her in the library between classes to give her food and a kiss and it rotates in my mind CONSTANTLY
❦. claude’s always posting cati on his socials, ppl are kind of sick of it but they’re too cute for them to say anything
❦. BUILD LEGO FLOWER SETS TOGETHER.. not a doubt in my mind that they do that as a sleepover activity while watching a movie they take an hour to decide on
❦. i see claude as being involved in a lot of clubs maybe a leader of one (my gut says chess) and catalina always makes time in her busy schedule to show up at their events to support him!!
❦. they go on dates to the closest boba shop, especially when cati needs a break from her study sessions
❦. catalina gets the same drink every time while claude always tries something new (he lets catalina have a sip hoping she can widen her palette) + he gets a snack that they can share
❦. catalina insists that she pays but claude always seems to trick her into letting him do it, she always feels guilty but claude doesn’t care, he has the money to spend
