Speak speak? Just two, which are English and Tagalog.

I converse through text, can understand, read, etc. in many other languages including two dialects.

languages being; arabic, spanish, french, japanese, korean, and chinese

dialects including; tausug, chavacano, and cause of my classmates im slowly learning visayan

i like studying etymology and the origin of some words so for a while i could also understand latin and other european languages that came from it/are similar to it but am severely out of practice now

side tangent but that shrimp is most likely male considering it doesnt have a saddle (?) female shrimps are larger at the abdomen area

and yes i come from a muslim family! i have a lot of respect for islam and other abrahamic religions despite their nature against homosexuality and whatnot. even with my theme and all.

everyone calls me Ñ because i have all of the spanish language knowledge lol

#i hold those memories or what not …#spanish was not difficult for us to learn simply because of all of the loanwords in filipino #filipino is kind of a mix of English and Tagalog and Spanish but the different between Filipino and Tagalog is not strong anyways #there are many Spanish loan words also #Spanish heavily influenced the filipino language vocabulary #yeah ok so a lot of the words are very similar but the grammar is veryyy different for sure #the language itself isn’t similar to Spanish at all but the loan words make it easier and besides most of the time people use English words #distinction. i forgot where I was going… i ramble and lose my train of thought a lot #other Filipino languages have a higher Spanish likeness like cebuano #you could use Spanish words to like order at a Filipino restaraunt basically most of the time #just walk in and say bizkotse salamat po #30% of tk e language had Spanish roots? I think that’s the right number #that being said most native speakers don’t even recognize the difference between Filipino & Tagalog its more often just an academic-#when speaking Filipino …#me when the Phillipines were colonized by Spain …#333 year colonization…#oh yeah people call me Ñ also because codex’s husband’s system has an N also. wow that felt weird to say #when i talk to thon i call thon nitrogen lol #-Ñ

with friends? with family? with my roots? all of them THAT'S A LOT OF LANGUAGES WITH THEIR OWN ALPHABETS there's never enough time

#I don't think I'll ever be able to articulate how heartbroken I am that my family no longer has ties to our pre-colonial culture #the philippines has so many different ethno-linguistic groups #and it was home to so many different groups before the spaniards came #and I love researching the pre-colonial cultures and the different ethno-linguistic groups #but it's not the same #and obviously I'm very proud of my filipino culture in current times #because there are a lot of cultural things that emerged after/because of the occupation #and that's all so /so/ important to me and I wish I knew more about that as well #but the fact that my family's pre-colonial culture is pretty much lost is heartbreaking #because yes we're visayan and I know that I asked my mother about it #but the visayas are so so large and held so many different groups #idk idk it just makes me really really sad #I wish I could meet my ancestors and ask them directly y'know?#because everyday I learn more about pinoy culture despite being born and raised in america #and I'm about to finally start learning tagalog #but I just can't do that with the pre-colonial culture :(#stella rambles #personal

got a 79 on my economics finals i need to jump off a cliff 😂

#i still passed that class and got good grades on the rest of my classes too #just waiting for one more but damn this just looks so fucking ugly 😭#dude barely thought anything and he did say he will let u pass as long as you attend his classes AND I DID WTF #even that one time there was only five of us in there like you could've considered attendance bro 😂#i swear all of us learned NOTHING in his class like he would literally just read off the book or a ppt and like..translate it in tagalog #a total of 10 mins of lecture then he starts gossiping with my classmates like it was fine at some point but then he really just kept doing #that on all of his classes like even in the exam day he was so noisy gossiping with the students 😭#he gave out the lesson resources(?) a really funny thing abt drops (language learning app) is that sometimes it's tagalog is just . Wrong. it told me that the word for quiche is empanada (very much incorrect) but likethe ones that are slightly off but funny is like it told me the word for leek is "sibuyas na mura" (cheap onion) and my friends were like yeah no we just say sibuyas or leek it doesnt matter

#also sometimes when i try to pronounce words in tagalog my brain forgets that i have to do a spanish accent for most words and instead i do #a russian accent or even a fuckign german one (havent learned german since 2018)#like ill say 'anong oras na?' (what time is it) with the right lilt and everything but in a russian accent its very jarring

#saying this made me realize how untranslatable the sentiment of going back to the philippines is #like umuwi is literally to go home and we use that word when we talk about going to the philippines #and bc i learned tagalog from my parents i’m inclined to use it too even though i don’t have a ‘home’ per se #eurgh diaspora unmooredness #anyway my mom was like ‘what are you thinking of doing the summer after you graduate?’ and i was like ‘idk maybe an internship’#and she said ‘no. we need to go home.’ like i’m not arguing with that lol we need to go home i agree #so it won’t be until next year but we’re probably going back #either way it has to be soon we can’t put it off #last time we did it was when rd was in power but now bm is which… complicates things slightly.#bc neither of my parents are happy about that but wr need to do this bc family #how i wish i could talk to my mother’s dad. he was so brave to dissent and he really protected his family as best he could #anyways

what i love about opm songs is that no matter what genre ive listened to, it's been giving me that familiar hot summer vibe i always felt when i was there. i can feel the sweat drip down my skin, the hot sun beating its heat over my exhausted body, the smell of street food, the loud chatter of children outside playing games, and an ice cream in my hand as i try to beat the heat, i miss it all.

#crow talks #im sorry for talking abt the philippines winter is not helping #i didn't have a very nice home (i didnt have a proper bed and we had to make monthly calls to make sure our internet was alive)#but it was still home. it felt familiar and right to me. it was comforting.#i didnt understand my classmates or my teachers very well but we all did our best for there to be understanding.#hell i learned tagalog more because of that.#everyone knew everyone and if u needed help someone in the neighborhood could help.#everyone had their back u could trust them #idkkk..... im probably romanticizing my time there....
