🎊 NEW YEARS CLEAN-UP 🎊

rules: unburden yourself from the abandoned WIPS collecting dust in your folder and share 5 gifs, then tag five people.

so what's maybe different about my giffing process is that i actually rarely abandon gifsets. like if i start making it, i'm locked in, i have to finish and get the idea out my brain. on the rare occasion i don't finish a set, then i'll readapt any gifs i made for another set (but i could actually only find one instance of a set that i had abandoned this year, and i'd adapted it for another set instead). so this is a selection of gifs that i either cut from a set as i had to narrow down choices, or an 'original' look at a gif before i changed it. because of that, i'm going to link the set it was made alongside or was adapted into for comparison!

this gif became altered for this kanej week + book to screen gifset. it originally started off as just a quote gifset. i started making this just after s2 dropped, but i think a mutual posted a set of kanej + this quote around the same time and i didn't want to be copying it so i ended up never finishing the set. when kanej week rolled around i ended up reusing the two gifs i made (this one + the one that became 'never stop fighting'), but damn, i did love this blue, and looking at it now i actually think this one came out better

2. an early version of my kanej week quotes set. i did several for this set with a gif inside the font, but i just really hated the way it looked overall, and at the last minute changed it. i still reused all the gifs i'd made though - you can see the two here in the second panel!

3. the original take on the third gif in this inej eps set. i ultimately changed it because i didn't like the blend, particularly that you couldn't see the knife being played with which is a moment i really wanted to include. but i do adore the yellow light shining on her as she's praying, there's something almost saintly about it, and wish i'd been able to incorporate it as i wanted to (please ignore the line it's just there because i gave up and never fixed it!)

4. a gif from this 'la vie en rose' ed and stede gifset. i thought the way they looked at each other with stede tilting his head was so cute, but ultimately i found blending the scenes a little messy and it didn't really match the other gifs/the lyrics so i cut it.

5. cut from this choni set, i basically cut this because there was a lot of movement in the scene and i wasn't happy with the colouring - they lean in to kiss and that meant there were a lot of issues with colouring layers overlapping skin and at that point i'd done a lot of frame-by-frame colouring and was feeling too lazy to do this one too.

there we go! this gives a bit of an insight into my giffing process too, it's always interesting how gifsets change as you continue to work on them to find what works, so hopefully this also provides a bit of before and after!

did i make this gifset as an escapism from studying? no. no, of course not.

ANYWAYS. since i already a lil post with some writing about my favourite parts of hardison's character, i thought i'd make a gifset of my top 10 favourite ✨alec hardison✨ moments, in order.

10) 2.08 – it's moments like these that make me remember hardison was the one pulling this reluctant family closer together, and none of them know how to behave now that they're part of a family.

9) 2.05 – this grift in general is just hilarious, as well as the episode. aldis hodge is just great at delivering these kind of comic relief/serious lines.

8) 1.02 – he sets the tone! he is literally the glue – after nate. he is the mission statement. he's just a young sociable guy who's really good with computers, looking to use his skills, and then he finds them, and it's oh, i can steal from people, hang out with these weird, talented people, AND be on the moral high ground?

7) 3.04 – now there are lots of fun moments in this episode, but i like him here, just doing the impossible trying to keep the 'rottweiler' from biting all of his friends.

6) 3.04 – need i say anything? (but i will nonetheless.) i mean, he's just breathtaking here, hypnotism aside. it was one of the times that made me wonder what else is in hardison's past? violin is one of the harder instruments to learn and he just ended up being crazy good at it at 14 (iirc)? literally king shit.

5) 4.10 – he is a problem solver, he is a lover, he is a decent hummer. i just love how into it he gets. the way he loves parker is one of my favourite things about him. just before i started watching leverage i was like "god, are there any good het relationships on tv", and then i just saw hardison with his joy at everything parker did and his understanding when she couldn't quite voice what she wanted yet. a being of love and nerdiness, he is!

4) 4.07 – i swear there is cocaine in the season 4. this episode was everything. but this scene? the quiet but overwhelming fear? him working to help the team find him as much as he can? every time i watch this scene i can't look away. "i don't want to be alone again." sir you are literally driving me insane.

3) 5.09 – now this is obviously one of THEE episodes of the series, the ot3 episode. i also love love love how they went full ham on showing off hardison's skills (which i wrote about here), but i LOVE an unhealthy amount how they showed his fear, and therefore his bravery. eliot and parker work through stressors fairly efficient, but hardison's fear is overwhelming, and alone, he couldn't temper it. this moment for his character was so important because after years of doing the hard job so that other people can have some security, he believes he has reached the limits of his skills. we're nearing the end of the season and we're seeing the most intense version of his fear.

2) 4.01 – i would rank this episode in my top 5 of the whole series, but that's for another day. his dramatic moment is funny (and i think that's its main intention) but it's also touching. i mean, he's just tapping at his computers not sure if his best friends' are okay, if the job is going to work, and then he hears their voices again, and you can see the weight come off of him. another show of his strength!

1) 3.07 – if i could describe to you how much this scene makes me laugh. hardison complains so much and his whole monologue is makes me scream (humorously). it's number one just for the pure hysterics of it. (for the reader's peace of mind, i am black.) from a wide view of the show, i just like how, with hardison's character, he's a black guy, not a Black Guy. it's not his personality, but it is his experience. it's not the main act, but it is an undercurrent. obviously leverage is not the type of show to make nuanced statements on race, but i think moments like this are just it! yes we live in a fucked world. yes it sucks. yes write about it and make the stories we tell an escape of that fact and a re-rendering of that fact.

Just want to say...Thank you so much for your blog. Because of you, now I'm shipping RinHaru....Before I found your tumblr, I ship MakotoHaru (even though I never satisfied with that ship). After I read your opinions,I found the answer and see them (makoharu) as best friend that almost like brothers.

Can I ask in which part that make you ship RinHaru (and made you love their dynamics)? And what other ship that remind you of their dynamics? I love reading your answers...Thanks a lot.....

Thank you so much, so happy u enjoy my posts :) And yeah, they're super addicting, right? Too much love and longing and passion in between T_T. I tbh don't know the exact moment, that was one of the first animes that I've watched and I by that time wasn't into BL world, so I just stared watching and I thought that that was their love story, like by 1x04 I knew that they just wanted to be together and by 1x12 I was long gone, crying at the end and that was it. I like never even saw anybody else there as more than bros, my vision was to say "untainted" in that time period xD like if I was back then already into shipping bromances, I'd maybe had doubts about the credibility of this, but with these two I never did have any haha. I just was sure it was like that, so everything I saw after getting on tags, YT and everywhere and seeing that there are other ships was to say an interesting expirience for me, bc again I just didn't see it when I was watching it, and then I've listened to creators and was like... I win lol

So I've read all the novels, novelization, stories, dramas, etc etc and fell in love even more. These two pushed me into BL world, bc I was so in love with their love, that everything else seemed dull and I couldn't move on from that and kept searching for something else that could give me the same amount of emotion and so far only chinese BL helped me with this. I've started watching "Mo Dao Zu Shi" and I was gone ofc, bc who would've thought, my whole family was like "oh no we've seen this idiocity in between before" haha and after the whole rh chat we've had of reincarnation AU about the two this vid was born. So yeah, you can really make about 1000 gifsets about the parallels between them and the dynamics and behavior are way too crazy similar.

I think I since forever had a thing for the stories like.. when one fires up the cold one, brings him out of his shell and turns his life upside down and makes him feel all the feels. It was like this since like "pride and prejudice" you know lmao. I was always into these.. cold one, who actually turns out feels the most and their other half who lights the match xD. And I also always loved opposites attract thing, bc in my opinion its the best thing for romantic relationships, when someone has smth you don't, but then they also have something you need, and then it becomes a perfection. And to me its also important for both to have their own independent personality, as in character of their own, I've always hated this thing, when someone's someone's accessory and not a character. Like I'd rather they clash until they get there bc they both have strong personaliies than them being about nothing, bc one I don't even know who he is haha. I'm not throwing shade here at mh, just saying that its a very common dynamics these days.

I need like I adore Haru and I adore Rin bc of who they are, before they fell in love they were amazing on their own, but then they fell in love and became another even more incredible thing, bc of what they gifted to one another, so then when you realize that they can't exist without each other anymore, bc they can't go back to the way it was and one has smth the other wants, it's 1sltly mega satusfying, 2ndly holy fuck ships like that are badass. Like they can rule the world together. I love these. It's like yeah, WWX is hella strong and the best and LZ is hella strong and the best, but put them together and its just holy shit haha. So yeah, that's my thing.
