do you know any resources for queer studies of frev?
Unfortunately, no. (As in, a specific queer approach to frev/full studies, not just mentions). There was supposed to be a study years back from Unspeakable Vice, but I don't think it ever materialized (?)
There are some articles/book chapters that I found over the years. I wouldn't call many (most?) of them specifically queer studies approach, but there is a talk about same-sex relationships during frev/late 18th century France. Some talk about legal stuff, like the penal code of 1791 that legitimized same-sex stuff on a technicality. Things like that. There is also some stuff about Marie Antoinette (slander pamphlets), but it's more about propaganda and not queer studies.
For example:
Sodomy Laws in France: How The 1791 French
Penal Code Decriminalized Sodomy Without The Will
of The People
Homosexuality in Modern France
Please note that I mainly know of these articles; I didn't go through them all so I can't say how they speak about the subject or what the stance they take.
Also, I mainly know English-language sources, which are generally not the best for frev. But I am not sure what was written about it in French.
@sieclesetcieux will know more about this topic!

new c!xisuma headcanon: he is cishet but uses all pronouns because he doesn't care about that type of thing really and is genuinely trying his best. Like, shows up to Pride alongside EX (nb aroace they/them) with like seventeen flags taped to his helmet and complements every person in a cool outfit he sees there type of trying his best. hes a bit confused when it comes to some things ("so... with polyamory, right, you're saying you don't all have to have the same relationship to each other or even a web of relationships at all?") but hes got the spirit. bit clueless but also just a really good ally purely by virtue of being so enthusiastic about literally everything the gays are doing ever

I can’t get the idea of c!dream’s mask out of my head. what if it wasn’t always a part of him? in the beginning, dream is an evil man. he’s obsessed with holding power and has a vendetta for tommy. but even though his eyes are cold, he’s a man. his eyebrows furrow when he’s caught off guard and his lip quivers with anger most of the time.
and then tommy gets exiled. alone. nothing to his name but he tries so hard to give himself meaning. and dream accepts the role of boogeyman. he never tries to pretend he’s anyone else, but tommy sees the white mask and he ends up frozen in fear. tommy knows it means that his work will be torn down while he’s forced to watch the taunting unmoving smile. dream’s eyes light up when he notices how tommy relaxes upon seeing his face; the next day, he comes without his mask and does his worst.
tommy never sees his face again after that moment. ranboo asked him once because they’d forgotten ever seeing it, and tommy wasn’t even sure if that man was ever dream. but he still tenses whenever anyone mentions it, and he still prays every night. he grips his own hands with white knuckles, unsure if it’s to forget his face or see it again.

lies on the floor and has just So Many Feelings about all the ways in which pericles and cassidy are foils, one of them being the comparison between how they use constant, vocal, unabashed affirmation of the qualities they value about themselves to cope with rock bottom self-esteem.
there's so much to be said here about how pericles' 'positive' self-talk is ultimately destructive to himself and everyone around him, whereas cassidy's has both been healing for her and held her back from processing her self-loathing in other ways, and so much of that has to do with her experiencing firsthand the results of pericles' shit handling of his poor self-esteem and desperately not wanting to be anything like him. fuck me up man

Average Ranger swears 8-10 oaths factoid actually just a statistical error. Average Ranger swears one oath. Oaths Calenglad, who swore roughly 10,000 oaths, was an outlier and should not have been counted.

imagine if a flower had consciousness. not the whole plant, from rustling leaves to a proud-standing stem to roots, deep and ancient and tangled, interconnected; only the flower. can that really happen? can it have its own self?
well, obviously yes: here it is, the flower, a separate, discrete thing, from the sepal to the tips of its petals — you can point at it and say "this is the flower, and the rest is not", draw a line. you can understand a flower as itself, not to be interchanged with leaves, its own distinct color and smell and personality; a flower can understand itself as an entity.
well, obviously no: it doesn't exist independedly from the plant. how do you actually separate a flower from the purpose it serves, from the nutritients it receives, from the stem it grew from? it didn't sprout into existence in a vacuum, it functions strictly as a part of a more complex whole, in an endless exchange of favors and resources on which every part's livelihood is dependent. a flower is a part of a plant, and a flower without a plant is at best a wilting cut limb and at worst an unsubstaniated thought experiment.
and yet a flower blooms and wilts in its own time, while the plant has stood and continues to stand, a lifetime within a lifetime, a separate chronological framework; and yet when an insect approaches, it seeks the flower's own shapes and colors and fragrance, paying no heed to what lies below. we could argue that a flower can be understood as its own case of existence, but only as one that is ultimatey and intimately connected to something bigger than life.
the universe is the plant; dirk gently's consciousness is the flower. am i making sense?

Not enough mean lesbians these days. A nonzero amount of heterosexual women would benefit from having to defend a thesis to a committee about why they’re going out with their boyfriend
