AITA for mocking my math teacher?
a few months ago my school got a new math teacher. this would be fine, if not for the fact that one of the first things she did was ask me (14M) if something was going on at home. along with this, i wad also severely depressed.
not only that, she had told multiple kids that ADHD is not real/that its a myth. my friend (14F, we'll call her c) and i both have adhd, along with many other kids in our class. she just very clearly does not know how to teach neurodivergent kids and it pisses me off every day.
i also had a conversation with her that was like
her: youve been slacking... somethings been off these last few weeks...
me: yeah i did stop taking my adhd meds recently
her: nonono it was a few weeks ago
me: yeah i stopped taking them. a few weeks ago.
her: why?:(
me: well they stopped me from eating so
and she just. walked away😭
so today c and i were sat next to eachother, and c goes to get help with a problem we were both struggling on. c comes back and sits down without a word. a few minutes later, i notice the teacher is basically yelling across the room at c and gaslighting her. telling her that she hadnt said anything about the problem being wrong, blah blah blah.
so a bit later into the class, this teacher comes over to our desk to help me, and says something along the lines of "you guys were talking earlier, you need to focus more ill move you so you can focus better if you dont stop talking" ect ect. c speaks up and says "well its hard for me to focus anywhere" and the teacher just. denies her?? so i say "well we have attention deficit hyperactive disorder so its not really something we can control" and she just kind of. disagrees?? it was weird idk anyways she starts walking away and im mocking her in a low voice which i understand wasnt a great choice but also. she was being a bitch. so she turns around and says "see me after class you two..." like damn okay.
c is also an overachiever so she often goes in for help and a few times shes just been denied help and like ??? you literally offered her help why are you now taking this back
this teacher has also given us a test on the ladt day of the quarter on something that we had been learning for maybe a week or so and it was worth 100 points (tests = 90% of our grade, hw = 10%)
i understand that mocking isnt a great thing to do but this woman has hated me from day one so aita

Nothing against low level jobs really, but one of our engineering techs was only a food service worker before this. Like an associates does something for you (don't know if that's what he has even he may be a student) I guess, but no wonder these guys aren't ready for engineering.
#totes bro#its.......a long term investment#i now know that these guys are techs because he said he was an engineer#what i do isnt hard and i guess theyre only supposed to assist but i havent seen any of them assist so idk what they do#i dont think we had engineering techs before i think it is just desperation#they're also not young#so schooling has left the brain a little#i know this sounds bad but they keep asking for me to teach them a thing and they stay at my desk for an hour#and god knows they like .....dont understand really basic technical concepts#and tbqh i do not have time for this#so now i know why I'm the favorite and the only one working. the other engineers have also complained about the new recruits#like you say 'lipids' and they dont know what you mean its just like extremely frustrating when theyre supposed to be#doing exactly what you do on more simple projects#but they absolutely cannot do that. like i get not being able to understand a super large system but they cant get like what fittings used#its frustrating because engineering isnt always low stakes#its not high stakes but a mistake can shut down a highway (happened recently)#ALSO the least qualified people always call themselves engineers#also i just changed from mechanical to civil engineering it is new for me#its still fluids somewhat which is what i was doing

Last two games of the season for the boys today.
A's poor team lost all but one. They looked v cold. Because it was.
T's team tied to get second. T scores two goals and made a pretty epic save (also let in two goals).
Proud of both of them.
#m isnt used to sports stuff?#one of the (parent volunteer) coaches made their son cry unfortunately#took all his frustrations out on him#m said he considered talking to him after the game#and while m is right that it's not healthy psychologically or anything for the kid#talking to him won't do a damn thing#the coach is actually really good especially at practice#and the kid was playing fairly well#and after that incident the kid was watching his every step#but i am also used to years of coaches yelling at me?#doesnt make it right#but i also dont know how to explain it#i consider coaching again sometimes#but i don't want to split this team#some of these parents are SO ROUGH and loud and pressuring their kids#there are ways to coach without doing that#you can teach and be supportive and still win#i like a's coaches#also this would be fixed if we switched to club because paid coaches#but i refuse to pay that much right now#phew sorry

I've been thinking to myself hey I maybe I should email this breeder, just bring up our potential interest in a future puppy and also I guess ask if they think their dogs could have the potential for assistance work, but first of all I might as well have never written an email in my life bc I have no idea how to go about this!!! And second of all, especially for the latter but I could always leave that out for the first time lol, if they answer negatively in some way I would likely not recover (I am not a well adjusted individual and rsd is a lovely little thing). I know myself well enough to know I would find it very discouraging and the embarrassment would probably also make it harder to contact them in the future 🥲

Ngl I think parents who let their kids' animals die because they don't want to take care of it as a way of "teaching them responsibility" are evil actually.
Like if you get your child a rodent and then expect that child to be 100% responsible for it to the point where you don't even check in on it, and it ends up dying, well I think you're not just a bad parent but a bad human being tbh.

#ok so the academic editing gig i have rn pays ~$21/hr (converting from £)#and it requires an undergraduate degree and a masters and at least one year of a PhD#and i just saw my local grocery store is advertising jobs paying $21.50/hr#which im very glad theyre doing but im wondering if my job is underpaying or if that's just what i should expect from underfunded academia#i mean the book im editing isnt an independent publication. it's under the auspices of a major university press#but also my field is usually underfunded even by arts/humanities standards#but still a major global academic press!#when i signed on i was like 'awesome it's more than minimum wage'#and ik I'm new and relatively inexperienced and on a short-term project#but like this is cambridge university press. in conjunction with two other major research universities#idk. even if i am being underpaid i probably wont end up saying anything about it.#if anyone wants to weigh in I'll read what you have to say#I'm teaching undergrads starting this year and they pay even less for that but that's because it's the department's budget#so im less hung up on that than i am on the editing contract#idk. my jobs so far have been things i cant compare to this#like driving delivery (min wage) or tutoring (set my own hourly)#so i really dont know what i should have expected

I'm waiting for people to realize that it's not enough to just stop telling little girls "oh he's mean because he has a crush on you" like people will actively grow up to call their besties "bitch" and "whore" and it's like. Not a big deal. What we need to do is teach people to recognize the intent behind people's words and actions. And we need to teach boundaries for these things (like being called "bitch" by my best friend is accepted because of her intent. If her tone shifts then it's not okay. Being called bitch by a man who doesn't know me is never okay. Because there is no loving intent with that word from a stranger)

And it feels impossible!! To achieve that! For 100 reasons.
And it feels so hurtful when people fall short, because it FEELS like so much more of the country is doing so out of maliciousness rather than ignorance every day.
And I think what I'm really terrified of is that despite all the "majority of poll voters on the internet don't agree w this" headlines and the people who DO talk explicitly about what's going on and who it will hurt the most... I'm most afraid that the 2024 elections will reveal that most people really want so many people dead at any cost
#watching who was vocal about what and who is silent now - or glosses over things and highlights others to large audiences#watching local organizations that act or dont act watching which individuals even acknowledge out loud what is happening#watching polls saying that even w everything he has done trump still has so many followers and desantis isnt far behind#wanting it to be desperately and in all caps bold clear that voting for them at this point means genocide#that that genocide is being targeted first and foremost at trans people and children rn but we're already seeing what forms it will take#if enough people really want it to be so#i want people to know that desantis' usa is one that isnt just hostile to teaching queer and critical race theory in classrooms#its one where trans people cannot obtain care one where undocumented people are stripped of every marginal right they had#one where disabled people can be refused care or even documentation of that refusal on a much wider scale than ever#one where the poor get infinitely poorer as the economy is restructured and ground to a halt and twisted#if you are not crystal clear on why he is dangerous and how on what bills have been passed and who they most endanger#then we risk even more people voting bc hes the most popular Republican on the ballot and not bc they KNOW what theyre voting for#2016 vs 2020 trump voters#people need to know what theyre voting for and who it will decimate and#im so scared that even if they know all of that it will still be enough people to win#here or in florida again or in the country as a whole#im so scared#and the people fighting feel so few and far between#there are so few of us even now#if we dont have allies we have nothing
