Like, here's the thing when it comes to Leon:

Yes, he Is a badass agent who's amazing in a fight and does a lot of cool shit and has a lot of snarky comebacks and jokes about The Horrors to cope with shit.

But if you take him at face value as Only being that, or you think he's just some dudebro cool guy, you are stripping So much of his character from him, especially if we're talking about remake Leon.

Leon became an agent in the first place because he wanted to protect Sherry and keep her safe. His Entire motivation there stems from a want to help a young girl and keep her from becoming a government tool because she's fuckin ten years old and he genuinely gives a shit about her. He helps Ada out for the same reasons, way before the kiss and everything, because he says he wants to help people. He actually cares a Lot about doing so to the point where it's his primary motive in a lot of his narrative. Ashley might be a mission objective to him but he also actually Cares about her too and wants to keep her safe and return her home. At the heart of literally everything he does, Leon is just a good guy with a good heart who wants to help people, even when it lands him in trouble, maybe even especially so in those cases. It's honestly a bit of a fatal flaw for him that he can't stop himself from wanting to help, even when he's warned against doing so, and that is exactly why I love him so much and why I find him to be such a good and compelling protagonist. Even when he's suffering and heavily traumatized, he still goes in to help people wherever he can, every time, because he quite frankly cant stop himself. He is so far from this uncaring action badass some people want to think he is.
