anyway as i was gonna say initially but got sidetracked the kujang seems neat. there are multiple distinct designs that are all called kujang and they’re very diverse. and it’s hard to find some of them - the pusaka ones with the naga and jago shapes seem to have many more photos than all the others combined, and it’s certainly easier to find the military ones than the agricultural ones (which neatly proves the point on the last post). but they’re all very cool. i feel like, even though it’s pretty obvious that a significant part of the design is from symbolism, they’re also like. seemingly pretty great designs! i feel like it would actually be quite a good knife for various tasks. like, if that little bump - the one that seems to represent the stomach of the different animals - was sharpened, which i think it is? in the designs where the end of the blade doesn’t extend past it like. you get the ability to use it to cut on a level even though the rest of the blade is still able to extend for an excellent slicing belly, a nice centered point. and . and this is- there was a quora commenter who looked at it for probably 15 seconds and went ‘oh it’s clearly derived from the kukri and is a good chopper’ which is idiotic. for one they most certainly are not derived from nepal come on. but also like, look at how the force would be transmitted through the tang. but to be fair although most of these would not be good choppers, they could be. primary issue being the double-bend that the tang takes on most of these and the construction of the handles themselves. but honestly they don’t need to be right. like that’s not the purpose of these knives. but they are really something quite nice and the necessary changes to make them good at chopping seems not worth it when they’re already good at a lot of things including like, being beautiful knives. and to be clear obviously some of these are better choppers than others. like the badak vs this one blade shape not listed on wikipedia which seems to mean male in malay? i dont speak sundanese or javanese or indonesian or malay. also “Malayic Languages” on wikipedia is marked as trans-friendly by shinigami eyes lol.

in any case yeah. some very interesting history here, as well as some very interesting knives even without that history. they’re all pretty strongly influenced by symbolism and history, and many are intended more to be a talisman or ritual object than to be a practical working tool. but this has also given them a really interesting range of different forms and designs and they’re very interesting. i honestly think that some of them could actually be quite excellent designs for a lot of different tasks because of the diverse range of cutting surfaces and the different angles and offsets from your grip. i’m especially fond of the versions of the kujang ciung in which that hump near the heel of the blade, seemingly meant to represent the breast of a particular species of bird, is a bit more rectangular, and where the “neck” doesn’t curve forward as much, so that the “breast” is the lowest and furthest forward cutting surface and could seemingly be used to cut flat on a board without interruption from the further up “head”, and a bit more of a belly on that “head” section closer to the end. it doesn’t need to be too acute of a point but that kinda comes naturally.

This one will probably be my first choice forever. It’s KyoAni’s most brilliant work so far and easily one of the best animes I’ve ever watched, hands down. It’s also their finest novel-to-anime adaptation in my opinion, and one of the very few animation series that actually turned out better than their source material.

The books are extremely interesting, but they’re also bland. The alterations made to the anime added visual value to it in order to make it more alluring and appealing, turning ordinary situations into rather unique and thought-provoking settings, while managing to never deviate from its novel counterpart. The changes on the characters’ designs were also a very good choice in my opinion, as they fit more into the character archetypes and the impressions they give off.

This one is honestly an example for the whole anime industry and a timeless gem. I’m pretty certain that it was one of the studio’s turning points in terms of animation style. Surely will become a classic in the future.

2. Koe no Katachi

KyoAni’s most well-done movie, as far as I can tell. I’m specially fond of the symbolism of every scene and the effort put on the scenery, which gave an effect of depth to the frames. The studio managed to portray the mangaka’s art style while staying true to its own trademark traits as well.

Animation quality and sound design aside, it’s also loyal enough to the manga. There were cuts in order to fit the story into the time limit, but KyoAni made up for the gaps with later released specials. The movie is also considerably less dramatic than the original, yet I’m certain that the alterations in that regard were made so that the transition between the phases of the story wouldn’t feel rushed. Albeit in a much more uplifting way, it nevertheless managed to transmit the characters’ essence and emotions.

What caught my attention the most in this movie was the soundtrack, though. There was a lot of care in its production, and it was clearly made to be gentle and almost imperceptible, with glitch-like repetitions here and there, as if it means to put the viewers in the shoes of the deaf heroine. It certainly did its job well.

3. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!

First anime from KyoAni I’ve ever watched, aside from the Inuyasha movies. Easily one of their funniest series, if not the actual funniest. It has a very special place in my heart. I dropped Amagi Brilliant Park on the first episode, but I’d cry internally every time I saw Bonta-kun in it. The nostalgia is strong, kids.

It’s got excellent animation for the year it was made, and I dare say it’s more decently animated than many current animes. The pacing is dynamic and the jokes vary from over-the-top to smart and witty in a smooth way. I also give this one kudos for not relying nearly as much on fanservice as more recent titles.

For the people who didn’t watch the first Full Metal Panic, I suggest doing so before trying this one out. Anyone who enjoys the two should also watch the second season, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid, which comes right after Fumoffu and was also animated by KyoAni.

4. Clannad

This one I deem as the best out of KyoAni’s most notorious classics. I also recommend the other titles related to this one, such as Clannad: Another Story.

Much like Hyouka, it’s a masterpiece in every aspect. It has a very non-cliché and unconveninent plot that deals with delicate themes in a sensible way and tears your heart apart at the same time. Frankly exemplary to the drama genre and exceptional as a visual novel adaptation.

5. Free!

The franchise became lackluster after the first director left, but the first two seasons were fun enough in their own right. Unlike most novel-to-anime adaptations, Free! started with original content through creating a future for the main story, which was turned into the not-so-distant past in the anime. This is unusual enough, but it worked out well as the anime maintained itself as loyal as possible to the first book and never went off the rails with the plot. The main characters’ personalities did suffer many alterations, yet it’s obvious that they meant to make the two more charismatic and likeable. As far as fan responses went, it worked.

I find very interesting that the creators were aware the story took itself too seriously at times, and they made this clear by compensating the heavy melancholy with heavy comedy. They also compensated the overdramatic atmosphere of the first season by picking up the pace and getting a little more serious in the second season. Everything was intentional and designed to be a hit amongst women, which I think had served the purpose until the first movie came out.

To be honest, I’m not fond of the exaggerated fanservice, but it gets easy to ignore it after a while if you only pay attention to the storyline. I don’t consider myself a fan of Free!, and I actually took very long to start liking it. I only did get into it at the last scene of episode 8, back when the first season was still airing. It was only by this time that I could see the true value of the series, so I recommend anyone who tries it out to go at least that far with it. I know it might be a lot of work, but in my honest opinion, it’s worth the trouble.

I deem the High Speed! novel awe-inspiring because of its nostalgic tone and the awfully realistic depiction of childhood crises. The most serious situations of it are a little out of reality, but the rest is absurdly relatable in levels that I myself don’t know how to put into words. Yet I also appreciate Free! for its strong tone of encouragement. It feels like the creators are trying to cheer up the viewers.

6. Kyoukai no Kanata

It starts becoming a mess from episode 4 onward, yet the beginning was quite promising. This one relies heavily on fanservice, often makes use of nonsensical tropes for the sake of comedy and sometimes goes overboard with the jokes. However, it doesn’t fail to deliver emotional value and the action is pretty neat. Anyone who hasn’t read the novel will definitely be able to enjoy it as a standalone.

I don’t think I need to mention it, but the animation is stellar. I in particular love the blurry movement effects of when the characters draw their weapons and the geometrical spectrums in the colorful power barriers. I also recommend the OVA, as well as the second movie I’ll be Here, although the latter is 100% original content. It was actually cute and fun to watch. The first movie is merely one huge recap.

7. Hibike! Euphonium

Truly dazzling take on slice-of-life. It’s healing and heartrending at the same time. The way that characters are portrayed allows the viewers to feel their passion and dedication without it occasionally feeling unrealistic. Everyone has their own problems, but none of them are taken out of proportion. Miscommunication happens, just not in a frustrating shoujo manga way.

The soundtrack and scenery are breathtaking, yet the forte of the animation in this one was the huge amount of detail put into the eyes and hair. Everyone’s hairdos are remarkably glossy without ever looking weird, and I especially like how their eyes all glinter in different colors.

The author published another volume of the novel after the anime, saying it had inspired her to write more, and it’s no wonder. I also recommend season two and the OVA. The first two movies are just recaps and the third was to me a disappointment, so I leave those to people’s own discretion.

8. Tamako Market

Rather odd but nice story. It blends iyashikei elements with a peculiar plot and actually manages to do that in a cute way. All of the characters are likeable and the visuals do a good job in transmitting what they have to transmit in a very relaxing manner.

This show caught me off-guard by how unproblematic it was. It has trans, gay and dark-skinned characters, but none of them is ever used for fanservice or jokes and their respective circumstances are portrayed as 100% normal, which is sadly still rare in anime even nowadays. The romance is pretty not-dramatic and filled to the brim with fluff, and I very much like that the main guy treats his female love rival as a serious threat.

I recommend the specials and the movie as well. Especially the movie, which is basically the same as direct sugar injestion and gave me diabetes.

9. Munto

Also has a special place in my heart. Cheesy but good, actually. I’d be lying if I said there aren’t some surprises in it, though, but I’ll refrain from giving too much info on the story itself.

It was firstly an OVA, but then got adapted into three movies. The animation was done finely enough, but there’s a drastic change in style from the first to the second half, though I myself didn’t really mind it. The characters are all well-stablished and the plot is consistent. There’s a present quality of feminist shades in it and the relationships are very endearing.

10. Nichijou

Not really one of my favorites but certainly one that I recommend for people who are in need of a laugh. It’s got some pretty creative and iconic humor. Its imaginative retakes on routinely affairs manage to transform the most trivial real-life situations into Oscar-worthy wit. It also gets nonsensical every so often, but this fits within the show’s own narrative.

It has a very unique animation that sometimes mixes different styles of art, which only makes every scene a hundred times funnier for being so soft and adorable. It varies from hyperrealistic to surrealistic at the speed of light and sometimes even becomes abstract as hell. It’s full of notes on Japanese culture, not only about daily life but also about media, which adds up to the fun.

the ability to manipulate the Nova Force to create hyperspace portals in space such as Space Gates.

XANDARIAN WORLDMIND: Aside from housing the Nova Force, Rider is also one of the hosts of the Xandarian Worldmind along with Sam being the other who can use it. The Worldmind is a sentient collective created to govern and maintain all forms of Xandarian culture. The Worldmind contains all knowledge collected by the Xandarian people including art, science, history, and philosophy. Richard can access any aspect of this technology by communicating with the Worldmind verbally or mentally. As a result, The Worldmind often contacts Rider unbidden and usually offers advice, instructions, insights, recommendations, and even criticisms. His bond with the Worldmind is highly useful, however, also in the fact that the Worldmind is crucial in helping Rider maintain self control, mood, and his mental stability.

NOVA UNIFORM: To further stabilize Rich during his manipulation of the Nova Force, the Worldmind has specifically modified Rider's Nova uniform. The material of the uniform helps to contain and regulate some of Rider's powers by siphoning some of the energies of the Nova Force. The uniform also contains inhibitors that can manipulate various hormones in Richard’s brain for the purpose of moderating his moods as needed. The uniform also has self-repairing capabilities, allowing it to seal rips and tears on its own.

The helmet contains radio circuitry enabling Nova to pick up radio transmissions, monitor transmissions, telescopic sights, night vision sensors, and heat imaging sensors, as well as overlay a visual heads-up display for tracking energy signatures. Nova's helmet has a rigid construction and shape when worn, but becomes as malleable as cloth when it is not, allowing him to hide it in his civilian clothes when desired.

three headcanons —

Both of the Rider children are living in space for their own separate reasons. His little brother, is on a dark path that he feels comfortable sticking with. Richard and their mother have tried to bring him back from the Raptors but that choice is cemented after a life has been built. Richard lives a life that’s the complete opposite, a war hero who feels comfort in living among the stars. Their mother, Gloria sets aside some money for their rare trips back to Earth. The currency in the galaxy is different and their credits are useless down on their home planet. When Rich came back seven years after the ban started his mother gave him some of that money that was set aside so he could get by until finding a proper job.

Richard has lost count of how many wars he has taken part in but the galaxy recognizes him as a veteran for it. His name is well known for his service. He qualifies for a free therapist as a result of this and has started regularly going to see her in Halfworld. His sanity is hanging by a very thin thread at all times. Rich can’t drink away his mental illness and trauma no matter how much he tries to. He struggles with depression, some post-traumatic stress disorder, and the rest of his problems is a long list. The therapy is genuinely helping and he makes a point to go every week. It’s important to him!

Peter Quill is his best friend but they met when they were fairly young — way before Guardians of the Galaxy were formed. Richard was new to being in space and Peter was still traveling around with Yondu and the other Ravagers. They quickly bonded over their love for music, since Rich has a library downloaded into his helmet after all. They became very close as they would go on many adventures together. The two of them are fairly reckless and sometimes Yondu  would show up to bail them out of trouble. Who was cautious about Richard at first since he’s a Nova but would soon welcome the boy to stop by whenever he would like. Maybe it was nice to see Peter getting to interact with someone his own age for once. They continued to remain best friends over the course of their lives and still are to this day. The two of them have been through a lot together and even when Richard says he can handle doing something on his own, Peter is right behind him refusing to let him do it alone. (This was all discussed with Amanda!)

personality traits —

+ HUMORISTIC. Richard surprisingly has an excellent sense of humor despite all of the tragedy he has experienced. He tries to make light of a situation if he can to disguise what he might be really feeling deep inside. It doesn’t always work but if Rich can make himself laugh then that seems to be worth it. If someone else ends up laughing with him? Even better and keeps the dark thoughts away.

+ DEDICATED. Once Richard places his mind on something he intends to go through with it until getting the outcome he desires. No matter how tired the man might get there is always energy left to keep fighting. He’s also a loyal friend to have on your side because of it!

- CYNICAL. Maybe Richard struggles to believe anything good can come out of stressful situations. This doesn’t mean he won’t press forward anyway because even when times get tough Rich does absolutely everything in his power to do what’s right. His depression tends to impact his outlook but tries being optimistic  despite being a cynic about his current  situation. Rich doesn’t think that someone like him deserves a happily ever after and always prepares for the worst. Maybe he has just seen too much.

- UNSTABLE. If it weren’t for his connection to the Nova Force he would have gone insane and the thread holding his sanity together would have snapped a long time ago. Which is a reason for going to therapy to strengthen that strand holding his mind together.

ORIGIN: Richard Rider was born in Hempstead, New York to Charles and Gloria Rider. He would become the oldest of their two children after his parents have another son. He always appeared to be insecure about how his younger brother is smarter than him and thought that he was the favorite. Robert always looked up to Rich though and supported his older brother’s role as a hero. Their mother worked as a 911 dispatch operator and their father was the principle of their local high school. Charles was a good father but quite strict. He never approved of his children getting in fights and more than once sent Richard to his room without getting to eat dinner. They tried being supportive of their son but his father would end up supporting the mindset that heroes should be registering — putting a strain on the relationship with his son. Richard would stay close with his mother since Gloria is always more gentle and loving between his two parents.

He wasn’t the class clown or the wallflower or the cool kid. Richard was just an average teenager growing up, having girl troubles as anyone else his age. Everything appeared to be normal until coming into contact with the Nova Corps shortly after his seventeenth birthday. The Nova are a peace-keeping force based off the planet Xandar which was destroyed by a space pirate. When Rhomann Dey, the Nova Prime was dying and fleeing through the cosmos toward Earth is when a decision was made. Richard Rider received his powers and granted the Nova Force — becoming the host for the energy source.

The sudden infusion of power hospitalized him, comatose as Rhomann telepathically explained to him everything that was happening and what his mission would be. He hoped that this Human would use these abilities for good. Rich would recover suddenly and be discharged by the doctor so he could return to his normal routines. The next day when alone in his room Rhomann transmitted one last gift — his Centurion uniform. Richard soon discovered all the different powers he now possesses but didn’t have any instruction on how they worked. He would become Nova Prime, proudly taking up the mantle.  

START OF THE BAN: Richard spends more time out in space than home on Earth. He goes years at a time before returning to visit his mother. His childhood friends all moved on with their lives without him in it so that doesn’t leave him with many reasons to come back. Usually when Rich does make a visit it leaves him confused by everything that had happened since he has been gone. There were wars to fight in and distress calls to take care of — feeling like that is more important than anything Earth has to offer. This has consequences though, never getting closure with his father since he passed away during one of the times Rich was gone.

When the ban was put into place, Richard didn’t know about it until Sam told him. He couldn’t believe that much had changed. Worldmind always there reminding him that there’s forever more work to be done through the galaxy if it brings some kind of reassurance to the two Novas.  There would always be somewhere they were needed and this is where their journey would go. Maybe Richard just adapted too much to living in space that being on a Earth makes him ache for returning to the stars again. He has learned to appreciate the little time there is with the connections he has left in his old age.

PRESENT: Seven years go by in the blink of an eye. Which also means seven years since stepping foot on Terran soil. His reasons for returning are a mixed bag. One of them connected to realizing how much he misses his mother during one of his therapy sessions. She was one of the few good things left since his younger brother is on a path of villainy with the Fraternity of Raptors. Richard spent some time with her after coming back to Earth since this was important to him. He couldn’t stay though, no matter how much she wanted him to. He comes to Star City seeking out a reunion with his best friend Peter but also new opportunities. Rich has never been good at holding a job, not when being Nova Prime will always come first, but decides to give it a try. Besides it doesn’t sit right with him knowing an organization is staining the Nova name. While trips back to space will still be frequent because he has his therapy sessions and also can’t refuse a distress call — Rich is going to try sticking around a bit more this time around. Maybe after all these years he deserves to build an actual life for once.

Exploring HIGH LIFE, by Claire Denis (spoiler alert! This is an analysis. First watch, then read – if you like) “Dada” talk.
That’s my imagination, I connect this to this topic, maybe it has nothing to do with it: Dadaism turned against the lying ideals and values of society that had provoked (the first WorldWar) and now? Made the destruction of the world possible. Primitives with modern techniques (reproductive medicine and so on). It illustrates the futility of logic, intellect and bourgeois culture. The Story World(s) 
 The nature of the garden (inside the space ship), the green, the fruits, the water on the plants, the growing - the life (how the sound/music is used: dangerous suffering?), a kind of paradise garden? A part of (lost) earth life in space, THE survival field in space. 
Close to: A lost shoe in the ground (this is an open question right now). In contrast to the high-tech “nature” of the space ship: 
the state, little bit destroyed, time becomes visible here. The empty space ship corridor looks like a jail corridor. The empty space in the ship with baby sound (like a sound from a distant memory of the abandoned planet), the different levels of the space ship, shown by a cut to the ladder. Then, the baby sits alone in an empty room in front of two screens. The screens, like technical baby sitters, connected via sound to a space man, who works outside on the space shuttle. Talking to the lonely baby inside (Dada), which looks isolated, trapped in an improvised crib (like a jail). The lonely man in space (Pattinson), struggling with working and baby sitting at the same time: He loses is screw wrench, because the baby screams and the audio was transmitted into his spaceship suit. 
 How this tool disappears into space has something very final for the man, but not for the tool, it is space trash now. A space man in a kind of an absurd mother role. 
 A cross cut to the “earth storyline” (backstory of the space man, Mante, Pattinson) a bloody stone in the hand of a child, the hand drops the stone into a well, the black well water swallows as a circle, the stone disappears, shimmering lights on the water surface (metaphor for the black hole? Later comes up, it is a dropped life). The two screens in front of the baby showing sometimes not only words, also pictures. The left screen in front of the baby, indigo people on earth, sleeping on the ground (past, memories of the earth). The right screen is a live stream: the space man comes into the ship again and hangs his space suit to the other five suits (question: Where are the other people on the ship?). He wears now orange clothes, grabs fruit from the garden, makes dinner for the baby, he looks sad, frustrated and stressed, but at the same time he is handling the baby with great tenderness and he really cares, how he watches the baby - with a connection. Like a father. A father alone with his baby on a space ship, caring about her - toughing. We learn also about the story world rules on the space ship. The first scene in the trailer: dropping water, the space ship is a fragile recycling cycle. Everything is going to be recycled, including urine. Without water, nothing will grow in the garden: end of life in space. 
And when an alarm rings, he has to report to a computer, that everything is fine, and the “mission” is running - then he gets an info line back on the computer, a sign, that the power for the space ship is renewed for 24 hours again. That means: the space ship is always a ticking bomb, you have to do this routine every day and the energy supply of the ship depends on the daily report. Never pops up another connect to those, who must “behind” the power system for the ship (hidden power hierarchy). The space ship is already outside the solar system. The spaceship probably flies 9 times faster than the light, because there is no weightlessness in the spaceship. What does this mean? What role time plays is unclear or plays no role anymore? 
Voice Over “The sensation, moving backwards, even so we are moving forwards. Getting further, what’s getting nearer. Da Da.” The Structure and the Character Web
 A-Story line (”present in space”): The single man and the baby (empty space suits, dead bodies in a special room in white bags supplied with a hose). The baby grabs a wound on his arm (forshadowing). The first word he talks with the baby: da-da, the second word he tries to learn the baby is: ta - bu. A tenderness relationship between people is only shown between the baby and the space man. Sometimes - memory pictures (intercuts) from the space man to B-storyline, sometimes to C-A-story line (the doctor).
 A big jump (in between: a-story line and the C-A-story line) the baby is a young woman, the space man looked almost the same (it is unclear, how time works – maybe different for both).
 Another space ship comes near (No 9) the own space ship is No 7. The two ships connect to each other and the father is entering the other ship. His daughter can watch his view, on one of the computer screens. he must have a camera inside his space suite. We explore the other ship – dead dogs are lying around. The ship looks ruined. No humans being around. Two small dogs were alive, next to the dead dog. And a wolf with kind of aggressive habits towards the father. The father holds one of the small dogs in the camera, the daughter liked it. The camera feed strikes. Next: we see the father coming back on the ship. Alone. We can only guess what he might did with the small dogs or the wolf, there was something in his face – sadness, has to do only with his backstory? B-Story line (past perfect progressive on earth) : The earth line, where the young depravedly outsiders (girl) travels on a train or, the boy (grown up: space man Pattinson) runs in the wood (with a dog) and a girl. The dog lies dead in the water, we see the face of the girl, then the girl lies also dead in the woods, with blood on her head. The space man backstory: he killed the girl, because she killed his dog. In other intercuts, you see the criminals (Pattinson) in prison, in prison uniforms. The criminals get a “chance” with the space mission, but they were kind of recycled murderer (trash) to space prison as testimonials for reproductive tests. (C )A- Story line (past in space) : the whole crew on the space ship was alive, only the baby wasn’t born yet. Another baby was born before but died. The prisoners: 4 girls, 2 young man, including the space man (Pattinson), one older black man, a doctor (Juliette Binoche) and the caption of the ship. The ca-storyline (past in space) unfolds more of the space ship rules: no sex between “normal” prisoners. The have to use a special room for masturbation, self-satisfaction. They have to sleep together in cells, but women from men separated. They are still prisoners in space with rules, controlled by the doctor Dibs (Juliette Binoche). All male have to give their sperm to her. No body-to-body sex between the prisoners is allowed, but there is a fuck room, if you want to have fun with your own. The fuck room is the only room, where you have privacy on the ship if you want to have fun with your own. Only the space prisoner, Mante (Pattinson), didn’t use the room, he also gives no sperm to Dr. Dibs. He decided for himself to live abstinent – this separates him from all the other people on the ship. He gets critic back from other prisoners, if he thinks, he someone special. He looks frustrated and somehow uncaring. Interesting: the dialog between Mante and the black prisoner (André Benjamin), he is sad flying around, he starts to sleep in the garden, because the men cell is smelling so bad and he can’t see the old pictures from earth anymore. Memories of his wife and his lost life hurting him. And the glances between Mante and prisoner (Evan Mitchell), he is wild and frustrated and angry. Mante didn’t want to serve science as a prisoner in space, he has a strong will. And at first, Dr Dibs allows his disobedience. They have a different kind of connection “I think you are foxy and you know it” (Mante to Dr Dibs). And maybe (my interpretation) when Dr Dibs is going into the fuck room, we see the fantasy of Mante, what she is doing inside (for me, as a woman, it feels and looks like a man fantasy). Character Web and Power Structure In contrast to Mante, the caption: He looks very needy to Dr Dibs, his sperm is tenuous and he is ill with blood cancer. Doctor Dibs (Juliette Binoche) saw this in her microscope. Later, the caption had a stroke. She helps him to die not alone, treated him like a baby and the last sentence he was able to say was “Can you suck my dick?” But she lies down next to him on the sick couch. Then, she slips out a little metallic stick from his finger and put it into her finger. Now she is also the caption of the space ship and with this stick in her finger, she is able to do the identification for the important daily report at the computer. All the power (on the space ship) lies in her hands now, Doctor Dibs – except of the earth line computer, for sure. 
Dr Dibs still follows obsessively her experiments and controls the sperm and the drip in sperms to the women. Lying on the Dr Dibs chair to get some sperm (from whom? We didn’t know it), the woman (Mia Goth) is talking to Dr Dibs. The backstory of Dr Dibs unfolds, she is also a criminal. She murdered her two children and her man, tries suicide afterwards, but it didn’t work. But one woman (Mia Goth) manages to sabotage artificial insemination over and over again, because she didn’t want to become a baby. The other women helping her covering the sabotage. Since now, no baby survived. The first woman who gets pregnant is the black woman, but she dies, also the little baby dies. Dr. Dibs cries with the dead baby in her arms. Sometimes I thought, the woman (Mia Goth) is flirting with Mante. 
At one night, the young angry prisoner (Ethen Mitchell) started a kind of suicidal tendencies, self-destructive action - he tries to rape one of the female prisoners (Mia Goth). Because all women are tied to the bed with one arm, the woman (Mia Goth) cannot escape. The other tied woman in the room screams and he hit her hard to stop screaming. Another woman came and tries to help, also Mante. He brings the woman (Mia) out of the sleeping room. The other two women murder the young prisoner (Ethan Mitchell) brutally. Very bloody scene. 
Contrast between tenderness first act (Mante & Baby) and the very much violence in the second within this story line. 
One time, Dr Dibs stuns everyone on board. Kind of rape of the sleeping Mante (a tricky one), sperm drops from her legs, she put it in her hands and goes cautiously to the labor room, fills the long insemination pipette and puts the sperm form Mante inside of the sleeping woman (Mia Goth). A time jump? The baby is there, Dr. Dibs put the baby girl into an incubator (jail style again). The mother is angry, milk drops from her breasts. She hits the other woman to death to go on a space mission to a black whole, but we see her blood in the space helmet, she didn’t make it. The black prisoner is very sad, he lays down in the garden, his body disappears under the ground (lost shoe in the garden, symbol at the beginning of the movie). Dr Dibs went out of the space ship, cutting the metallic stick out of her finger and drops her body into the black space, but she didn’t use a space suits, so one is left for the baby girl. 
Mante takes the metallic stick into his finger and reports now to the computer to keep the routine running, to get power for the space shuttle. The spacecraft’s energy consumption (and his and the baby girl) puts him in the cycle of dependency (metaphor: circle of nature) - the ticking bomb and everyday report.  And it feels, like there are many fluid mirror roles or triangles: 
 Dr. Dibs and the young angry man: both rape / force of the women (Mia Goth), 
Dr. Dibs (caring role) to life and Mante (caring role) to life. 
 Dr. Dibs a murderer, Mante a murderer. 
 Dr. Dibs and the caption both have a power role. 
 Dr. Dibs (mother/father role) to the woman (Mia Goth) force her to mother role, and Mante was forced to father and a mother(like) role.
 Dr. Dibs (concentration of power) kills you with kindness and manipulates everybody. Dr. Dibs choose those two persons, woman (Mia Goth) and Mante (Pattinson), which both sabotaged or questioned her concentration of power. (Dialog) Women “You lied to us. And you know it” 
Dr. Dibs want to achieve perfection with her work in space: human reproduction. Other women “And then? Fly away?” 
(the dialogs, every word, so precise)  Dr. Dibs and the space shuttle No 9 - a kind of mirroring of her past - the dead dog with the two baby dogs - the wolf could be Dr. Dibs in her murder role (of her family). A-line again (I am sure, the are some more intercuts) the baby is a young woman, the space man looked almost the same (it is unclear, how time works – maybe different for both).

The greater the attraction of an object, the greater the deflection effect - until the light rays in a black hole are forced onto a circular path and can no longer leave it. Yellow light. Mante is the only one who changes from a frustrated murder to a caring father. The audience explore his change revers. Maybe there is another universe behind the Black Hole, if you cross it. For the tenses of the future, I have refrained from using signal words, since several tenses are possible here and no unambiguous assignments are possible. Therefore, always consider which action is present. And now? Do you care about someone? 
 And I think a lot of the ta-bu. The Father and the only man at the same time, the only human being the young girl ever meet, she could ever will have. Wow Interpretation, how I read it: parallel projection of life and death. The Beginning and THE ENd. And if we don’t care about earth, about our basic principles of life, we will destroy the elements of nature and life. It is a kind of high (tech) cannibalism we live on earth.
 We have only one earth to live, there is no life right now in space. 
We should care about earth in present.
