dazai is shameless (more accurately i think he's desensitized to the feeling of shame when he's ashamed of his own exis- actually that's a topic for another time) which is why he has no problem saying all this embarrassing shit to chuuya. "our hearts reached out to each other" is more embarrassing to us as readers than it is for him as a person. that's the guy who confessed his love to a dude he met the day before
SO in order to fluster him chuuya needs to just be nice to him. thank him compliment him be genuine smile and be kind and gentle. ik wan isn't considered canon but i sincerely believe anything that's like. character based (as in, not the actual stories, but the personalities and behaviors of everyone) is. and this is p mucc explicitly shown there, more than once even. that's his weakness 👍 that's how you can take him down. join me 🤝 i can show you beautiful things

on dazai’s backstory
okay so!! one of the most prominent mysteries of bungou stray dogs is dazai's backstory prior to his and mori's assassination of the previous boss. i've seen tons of speculation on it, and i thought i'd chip in with my personal thoughts and deductions! please note that for this analysis i'll be using wattpad user darkestjay8686's interpretation of the fifteen light novel, as i do not speak japanese nor have access to the original fifteen light novel. any alterations done to this translation are for ease of understanding (for example, changing "the hand of chuuya" to "chuuya's hand"). any and all of these changes are purely the result of personal preference and are not at all meant to either change the meaning of the passage or insult darkestjay8686. seeing as, once again, i do not speak japanese, i am operating under the assumption that this translation conveys the original intent as well as can be expected. for verification of certain quotes, i cross-checked @looking-for-stray-dog's excerpts of the novel.
with all of those disclaimers out of the way, let's get down to it!
1. on mori and dazai
there has been a lot of discussion on mori and dazai's relationship, and most of what needs to be said has been said. maybe i’ll discuss some things that i feel are often overlooked in a separate post! still, put briefly in a disorganized list, because formatting on tumblr is difficult:
when dazai and mori met, dazai "was nothing more than an attempted suicide patient."
dazai was already suicidal when he came under mori's care.
whatever "broke" dazai happened before mori (assuming that dazai's detached behavior comes from a place of trauma in addition to possible mental/personality disorders).
dazai served as witness shortly after to mori's assassination of the former boss.
mori did not know dazai intimately before PB's demise.
mori remarks that he underestimated dazai's darkness and wisdom, implying that he hadn't known dazai well enough previously in order to gauge these things.
we also know that dazai "was not a subordinate of Mori, nor of the mafia…[nor was] he…an illegitimate child, an orphan mori had picked up, or a medical assistant." their meeting is described as a "fateful encounter."
another interesting thing is that it takes a year for dazai to drop the childish mask we see him keep up around mori, seeing as this scene is where mori realizes that he's made a "miscalculation."
2. on the previous boss and dazai
dazai likely knew the previous boss on a personal level.
A distorted, crimson haze emerged from the other side of the subspace, and a figure appeared.
"There... there is a nostalgic face. Hey, brat... are you in good health? Have you been bullied by the doctor?"
It was the old boss floating in the air, wearing a traditional, black robe.
"Hey, there." Dazai smiled stiffly. "It's been a while. How's your back pain? Your complexion is looking nice. Wasn't it a good thing you died? Boss—no, previous boss."
this implies that the previous boss (thus abbreviated as PB) knows dazai, despite being clearly insane and severely ill in the one moment where we know dazai was present.
see: "nostalgic face"—PB views dazai as someone he's known long enough to view as nostalgic.
see: "brat"—PB views dazai with disdain. as he was clearly not in his right mind during the one time he and dazai are undeniably in a room together, i doubt he even realized dazai was there, and definitely not well enough to actually remember his face.
see: "are you in good health?"—we know for a fact that dazai attempted suicide at age fourteen (though we do not know if this was his first attempt). may indicate that PB is aware of dazai's attempt. >>could also just be a generic greeting that i'm reading into. who knows?
see: "have you been bullied by the doctor?"—the term "the doctor" indicates a sense of familiarity; PB does not need to specify further. this means that PB knows that dazai is in mori's care, or at least in regular contact with him. >>please note that it is unclear how much knowledge PB has of the outside world in death. >>furthermore: while this is more of an interpretational piece of evidence, the phrasing here comes across as mocking. PB is bitter that dazai was complicit in his assassination. one would not be bitter in such a way unless they felt somehow betrayed.
see: "dazai smiled stiffly."—possibly invalid due to translational errors and liberty, but dazai is capable of keeping his cool even in the most dire of circumstances. to intentionally mention that his smile is stiff could indicate one of two things: one, that dazai is pretending to be uncomfortable on purpose, or two, that dazai is honestly uncomfortable and stressed and is attempting to disguise this. as the first does not make sense in this particular situation, the latter must be true. >>please note that dazai was already out of his comfort zone in this scene, as the previous events had clearly taken him by surprise. make of that what you will.
see: "how's your back pain? your complexion is looking nice."—all imply that dazai knew both a) the exact issues of PB's illness, and b) how PB looked before said illness severely affected him, or at least knew him in illness long enough to draw an accurate comparison. >>could also just be generic mocking, as dazai at least knew that PB was in poor health. not necessarily indicative of further knowledge.
see: "wasn't it a good thing that you died?"—this can be taken a multitude of ways, but the way i initially interpreted it is that dazai has a personal opinion on the way PB was running the port mafia. in this interpretation, "good thing" is being applied for the people. however, dazai is explicitly amoral. so what could this mean? dazai may be saying that it is a "good thing" in a purely business sense. maybe he was projecting his own suicidal tendencies onto PB. maybe he was saying that it's what PB would have wanted in his right mind. no particular conclusions to draw here, but i thought it was worth analyzing.
see: "boss—no, previous boss."—dazai instinctually refers to PB as "boss." if he had not frequently referred to him this way in the pass, he would not have made the freudian slip. the correction, too, gives his words a certain level of mocking. you were the boss, but you're not anymore. dazai must have known PB or known of PB long enough to both form an opinion on him and to view him as "the boss."
conclusion: it makes the most sense that dazai knew the boss on a personal level.
thus begs the question: if dazai referred to PB as "boss," why was he not already a part of the mafia? multiple theories:
dazai was a part of the mafia, but mori simply didn't know and dazai did not correct him. extremely unlikely, as dazai says that being in the mafia might be worth a try, which means he hadn't tried it previously, as well as hirotsu claiming that dazai is "unrelated to the mafia."
dazai performed some other duty for PB separate from mafia duties.
dazai was PB's son/ward, and "boss" was what PB insisted he be called.
however: dazai was asked to join the sheep when he was young ("a long time ago" when he was fifteen). as far as we know (or can ever expect to know), the sheep exclusively recruit "down-on-their-luck" youth or homeless kids. this means that dazai must have been defined as one of the two at some point. with our two remaining conclusions (the first having been crossed off an account of unlikelihood), we can justify this in two ways:
if dazai performed some other duty separate from the mafia under PB, it gives him ample time to have a life outside the mafia. we do not know enough to speculate on what that life may have been, just that he was likely homeless at some point when he was very young.
if dazai was PB's son/ward, he must have either run away at some point or simply been out and about enough for the sheep to mistake him as homeless or "down on his luck."
either conclusion is equally likely, and thus equally unlikely!
hence, undeniable conclusions (tl;dr):
knew PB prior to his death.
did not know mori very well, if at all.
traumatized before he and mori assassinated PB (assuming his behavior and outlook is a result of trauma in combination with a personality/mental disorder).
at some point was frequently on the streets.
even if you disagree with these conclusions, please be kind! feel free to add anything if you think there's something i overlooked/misinterpreted.

It Was Worth Trying by MidnightLightHowlite | Art by Misa
Rating: General Audiences
Seeing Dazai float face down in a river was not all that unusual. True, it hadn't happened in four years, but the view was not exactly a foreign one. No, what was foreign was the fact that Dazai seemed to be shorter. And younger. And didn't remember him. In retrospect, Chuuya probably shouldn't have let the boy call Mori because that allowed his boss to put him on babysitting duty.
(Or Dazai gets deaged. No romance will happen till they are both the same age again.)
Bandaged Sheep by MidnightLightHowlite | Art by Abel
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
There had been something very weird, very off about the new recruit. He had popped up out of thin air a few months ago, wrapped from head to toe in bandages. Not a word of what he did before, saying he wanted to join the sheep. He wasn't strong or skilled, and truly, there was no logical reason for Chuuya to pay him any mind.
But then the Port Mafia put a huge bounty on his head and things started to get interesting
these days, you’re fine by AquarianTwin | Art by Nella
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Fifth-grade classmates Q and Aya are convinced that their older brothers would make a perfect pair if they’d just stop fighting for five minutes. Dazai and Chuuya, who have been dating for over a year, find this too funny to correct them.
Dazai takes in his younger sibling, Q, after they’re removed from their father’s home. Overwhelmed by the responsibility of raising of a child when he can barely keep himself alive some days, Dazai leans on his partner, Chuuya, to help lead him through. It’s a good thing Q gets along so well with Chuuya’s younger sister, but Dazai thinks he might die of laughter if the pair try to “secretly” set him up on another date with his own boyfriend.

Chuuya laid in the hospital bed, his consciousness slipping away slowly as he patiently awaited his demise. The doctors had assured him he wouldn't feel a thing but for some reason he couldn't shake this feeling his chest. An subtle pain which at this point had coaxed his stomach into a frenzy. Something was wrong but there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it.
In Isolation He Thrived by Maddy | Art by Leo

All his life Dazai felt like a tool, a pawn that was just tossed aside when not needed. He was looked down on and felt useless, so slowly a fire ignited within him and turned him into a merciless person also well known as a "Soulless Demon".
He always believed he was destined to do wrong until one day when he finds Chuuya who proves him wrong.

“I used Corruption because I trusted you,” Chuuya gasps out, and the words leave a hole the size of Yokohama in his chest. He punches Dazai right where that hole is and hopes it hurts him just as much as it hurts Chuuya.
Dazai smiles. He catches him when his vision finally goes dark and the next thing Chuuya wakes to is emptiness in his heart and a stack of neatly folded clothes.
In one universe, they’re partners-turned enemies, the former Double Black, the most fearsome duo in Port Mafia history. They’re Soukoku and they’re spiteful and they’re tangled up in one another more than they’d care to admit.

In Blood we are Sealed by Chaosia | Art by RedZeverin
Dazai stared at his subordinate and the white tiger passed out on the ground, dismayed. It almost worked. This was the fourth person they've went to. There was one more person Dazai could take Atsushi to but he had enough reason to guess that it wouldn't work.
Dazai made a face.
There was one person Dazai knew who could do the job. He'd successfully commit suicide though before that gremlin ever found out he had such thoughts. The taste of metallic filled his mouth. He held in the urge to spit it out.
His ears rang as he imagined a shrieking voice yelling his name like it was the worst insult one could come up with and the mirage of fire that surrounded those blue eyes and foul mouth. Ugh, he was so annoying even in his imagination...and short.
Sticking a pinky into his ear to clear out the haunting voice, Dazai went about gathering up his apprentice and the tiger. Maybe fate would take pity on him and this next trip would solve their problem...
He could feel the cursed blood laughing at him all the way back to their hotel room.
Or a magical AU where Dazai inadvertently gets Atsushi cursed and they have to go to Chuuya, a powerful witch in his own right, to break it.

Quatervois (n.) a crossroads; a critical decision or turning point in one's life
Chuuya didn't expect to see a man hanging from a tree.
Chuuya didn't expect to meet the man again.
Chuuya certainly didn't expect the man to be the crown prince of the kingdom.
...or cardverse au where Dazai is an asshole and Chuuya just wants to have a peaceful life. Is that too much to ask?
flaws and all by alli | Art by phryn
The transition Dazai and Chuuya routinely make between their heated arguing and completely seamless teamwork is being disrupted by their changing relationship. Which is an issue, because the two of them have been assigned to what could possibly be the most important undercover mission of their careers. Will they be able to strengthen their partnership for the better, or will it crack under the ever growing pressure?

As much as he craved that, as easy as it would be to do, it terrified him.

In a bid to save their continent from destruction, the kingdoms of Ada and the Port Mafia must put aside their years of tension to form an uneasy alliance. An act of holy matrimony unites Princes Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya, marking the beginning of an infamous partnership.
The affair is strictly political, and perhaps for the better. The two hate each other from the beginning.

Sixteen women have been killed by a vicious serial killer haunting Yokohama’s streets.
Dazai has been chosen to become a part of the elite Bloody Valentine Task Force, even if he personally thinks that it’d be a lot more fun to stay at home with his boyfriend. Especially since it took years to convince Chuuya to finally move in with him.
It’s just a coincidence that Chuuya’s agreed to move in with him the moment he’s been chosen to become a part of the Task Force, right?

It all started with diamonds.
Chuuya thinks he would've been just as attracted to it if it wasn't for the equally shiny police badge in his pocket.
It all ends with a silver bullet.
For someone as talented in the dance of crime, Dazai has developed quite a bias about the jewels that would catch anybody's fancy.

Nakahara Chuuya, the elven lord commander of the kingsguard of kingdom of Mirkwood, singing in the woods. With a sudden intervention from Dazai Osamu, a mysterious being that was caught in between his tunes, they became best friends afterwards. Or perhaps it is more than that?
Time to time, one story comes with another. The truth finally unveils, and the clock is ticking faster. What exactly is Dazai? Why does he act so familiarly to Chuuya? And perhaps the biggest question we need the answer is: What makes them always connected, even for thousands of years?

By the power of great ancient magic, supernatural beings are aptly hidden just behind the eyelids of humans. Vampires, witches, weres, faeries – all of them live and exist out of the fairy tales books.
Humans' eyes are just shielded into not comprehending their true nature, their magic, and their trickery. To protect them, the Gods say. But Dazai has always known that he’s no ordinary human. From the gift of seeing beyond the magic veil to the peculiar dreams to the aching, hollow feeling hugging his chest in a tight embrace – he knows he’s different.
What Dazai doesn’t know is that this isn’t the start of his story and the stranger with glowing blue eyes that have always been the center of his recurring dreams. What Dazai doesn’t know is that this is not exactly his first life. Dazai doesn't know a lot of things. But with time, he will come to know that he doesn't mind dying the second time for Chuuya.

This year I wrote and posted: 34 fics in total: 4 completed multi-chapter fics, 1 wip multi-chapter fic, 24 oneshots, 5 drabbles.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? So, so much more. I almost can’t believe how much I managed to write this year.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Kuroshitsuji. It’s not a fandom I’ve ever written for and the fic I did write was a gift fic and a prompt fill.
What’s your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Ahhh that’s hard, there are a handful of stories I am really happy with. I suppose I’ll have to go with hide the truth it was a beast of a story to write and I had a lot of fun working through soukoku’s dynamic in it.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? Big time! I’ve been using my fic writing to really challenge myself in terms of my stories. My biggest risk was just in terms of quantity, I spent much of the year juggling four wips and a patreon with additional content. Getting through everything month-to-month was hard but it really helped my efficiency and increased my writing speed.
Your best story of this year: Hmm, this is a hard one. Honestly, I’d have to say Equivalent Exchange. It was a massive undertaking with a lot of characters and plot lines to keep track of. As a fantasy piece, the worldbuilding was extremely intensive.
Your most popular story of this year: By a slim margin with EE, my most popular story this year was where your loyalties lie.
Story of yours most under-appreciated by the universe, in your opinion: Any rare-pair story is going to have a hard time getting views, but I honestly think A Warlord’s Conscience is one of my best stories of the year and it was my third least popular fic.
Most fun story to write: The Hogwarts AU verse  (Sorely Missed and Unplottable) was a lot of fun! I was a big HP nerd growing up so it was enjoyable to dive back into the universe.
Story with the single sexiest moment: Playing Human. By a long mile. Easily one of the most explicit stories I’ve written for bsd. Honorable mention goes to All Dolled Up.
Most “Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: This honor also goes to Playing Human. I grew up really religious and they’re in a church and I did not back away from any form of sacrilege.
Story that shifted your own perceptions of the characters: Hmmm, I can’t say I had any real shift in character perceptions this year.
Hardest story to write: where your loyalties lie. There was a lot going on in that story and the character development/journeys were really delicate, especially for Chuuya.
Biggest disappointment: tbh...I don’t think I feel disappointed with any of my stories this year. Progress!
Biggest surprise: Writer’s Block, I wasn’t expecting people to like it as much as they did, much less to the degree of requesting a sequel.
Most unintentionally telling story: where your loyalties lie. Anyone who read the Author’s Commentary of the fic probably has a good grasp of how many of my personal struggles over the course of the year got projected into the fic. There were also a few other personal things from years past that also get referenced.
Favorite opening line(s): ~ There was something that came alive when the sun went down. - Playing Human ~ Sometimes Dazai finds it hard not to think that the person responsible for making text cursors blink just had a sick sense of humor rather than any practical reasoning for the programming decision. - Writer’s Block
Favorite closing line(s): ~ It felt like a dagger in the gut to know that he’d already made his choice. - What About Trust? ~ And if Viktor is imagining the way the moonlight seems to shine brighter when they pull back from their embrace, well, he can’t quite see a problem with that. - Equivalent Exchange
Favorite 5 line(s) from anywhere: ~ He can trace the features of the figures depicted, all wholly inaccurate but it’s not as if the religious painters would bother to consult a vampire on matters like the faces of the figures they exalted to sainthood. - Playing Human ~ The very idea is absurd but it is the only explanation that explains both his pain and the fact that he is holding a building in his hands, lifting through dense fog to float in mid-air and stare at…at…Is that a fucking dragon? - hide the truth ~ It takes a bigger effort to get to his feet than it ever has, and for a moment Chuuya wonders if his ability is working against him, if gravity has decided to press down on him in retribution for every time Chuuya has ever felt weightless - wyll, ch. 13 ~ A dependency on alcohol is gradually self-destructive, a dependency on a person is instantly debilitating. - wyll, ch. 11 ~ Just as Viktor said, it's nothing like a duel, but Yuri wishes someone had told him that a real battle was as close to hell as a living human could get. - EE, ch. 18
Top 5 scenes from anywhere you would choose to have illustrated: ~ Yuuri showing up on the battlefield - Equivalent Exchange (ch. 18) ~ Chuuya’s tattoo - wyll (ch. 20) ~ Kouyou standing in the garden - A Warlord’s Conscience ~ Drunk Phichit and Yuuri dancing salsa - Rent a (boy)Friend (ch. 8) ~ tbh any bit from All Dolled Up
Fic-writing goals for next year: Hmm, I’ve been toying with trying my hand with a new fandom. It’s been a while since I’ve taken that jump with new characters so I’d like to do that in 2019!

For the fanfiction ask! 1, 2, 4, 11, 12, 17, 18, 24, 28, 29, 30, 38, 44, and one question of your choice. I wrote a lot because personally I love receiving these, but feel free to answer as many as you like!
SO MANY AHHHH
Thank you for these! I’ve literally been waiting all week to answer.
1: How old were you when you started writing fan fiction?
I think I must have been 13, nearly 14, when I wrote my first actual fic. It was a pair of fics, actually, halfway-shippy drabbles about Matt and Mello from Death Note, and they were published on DeviantART. This ask brought back a lot of cringe.
2: What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favorite?
This has kind of changed over the years. First I wrote nothing but mikayuu (Owari no Seraph), then nothing but sarumi (K-Project), and then I was super into Bungou Stray Dogs. I’ve written a few things for Harry Potter and Mo Dao Zu Shi that I’m quite proud of. Other stuff, too, here and there.
But, if I had to pick a favorite... I always come back to soukoku and Bungou Stray Dogs. Dazai and Chuuya are my air.
4: What is your favorite genre to write for?
Fluff and comedy! Well, for fanfiction, at least - these characters have already been through so much, you know? But for my own stories... it varies. I do love to write humorous stories, but I do also write a healthy amount of sad stuff. It’s pretty much Pure Angst or Pure Comedy, there’s no in between.
11: Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you received after posting it?
Nope. I’ve edited tags a few times, but never the story itself. That said, I haven't received a lot of criticism - at least, not genuine or constructive criticism. Just people hating on characters and ships. And one person vaguely commenting that I had fucked one thing up, but then refusing to tell me. If that person is somehow out there reading this... you fucked me up, man. You fucked me up.
12: Who is your favorite character to write for? Why?
I really love writing Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling, mostly because I’m so attached to them. And I like writing Chuuya, because one of my best friends is like Dazai in terms of annoyingness (her name is even Dazai in my phone and sometimes I forget her real name), so I like to offload my frustrations with her through Chuuya’s pain.
17: Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.
This is actually the first line of the novella I’m writing!
It’s unusual for a Villain to pen a memoir, not in the least because most of them die before they can.
It’s a quest story about two twin brothers - one a Hero, one an aspiring Villain - who try to rebuild their frayed relationship when they are pushed together to face an old enemy.
24: How do you feel about writing smut?
Yeah, nope. I don’t do smut. I don't even read smut. Listen, the first time I wrote a kiss, I was 14 or 15, and it took me 15 minutes. I’m not even exaggerating. I was so embarrassed. All I wrote was “their lips met”. That was it. That was the whole scene. I just couldn't handle it. Even now, I feel embarrassed. And smut is just a big no for me.
29: Do you have a story you wish got more love?
Yes! Yes!!! I’m just gonna link them here, so if anyone is scrolling,,, please,,, read them,,,
Life Is Too Short For So Much Sorrow -- Jiang Cheng & Jin Ling drabbles (Mo Dao Zu Shi)
14 Years, 5 Months, 19 Days -- five times Nicaise felt empty, and one time he was whole (Captive Prince)
Veni Vidi Vici -- in the summer before 5th year, a runaway Draco and temporary runaway Harry embark on a quest to find a magic well that can change lives
Also MY ORIGINAL WORKS PLEASE GUYS I NEED VALIDATION
30: Do you have a story that receives a lot of love that you roll your eyes at?
Yep. ‘How To Fall In Love With Your Enemy’ is my most popular fic, a soulmate au for Katsudeku (BNHA). I worked hard on it and I’m proud of it, but like... it’s not my best one, compared to others.
38: If you could collaborate with another person on here for a fic, who would it be?
@fandompandabear we never finished that mikayuu Hunger Games AU, did we?
44: What is the last line you wrote?
The last thing I wrote was a poem, actually, so I’m just gonna put the last stanza, which is technically one sentence.
This is how I pretend
Not to love you, and when you smile back
I can’t work out if I adore
You or if I just want you
To walk away, so I can tell myself
That you could never love me
Too.
Fun story, I wrote this about my crush (of 3 years, mind you) while sitting next to and chatting with him. I like to live dangerously.
Again, thank you so so much for these!!

I was tagged by the beautiful, @lovingnikiforov! Thank you, love!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
My A03 username, like my main blog, is kidspawn02. My mom plays Dragon Age, and she called me kidspawn - based off of the creatures darkspawn in the DA games. Because... I am her spawn.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Bookmarks - Five Times Dazai Didn’t Stay, And One Time He Did
Subs - Naga, Save Me
Hits - Naga, Save Me
Kudos - In Which Akutagawa Is Weak For Cute Boys
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
It changes a lot - usually to a character I’m fond of. Right now, it’s Yuuri Katsuki.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Everyone who comments makes my whole life. I need a lot of positive reinforcement, so anyone who puts in the effort to comment is an absolute angel in my eyes.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
This world we live in
You Wouldn’t Do That, Right?
I’m a catch
Placebo
Droughts in Pink Deserts
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
15 works, 2 users (subs)
28 bookmarks
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I don’t really have..... recurring AU, but I like toying around with Fairytale AU
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
I have 156 bookmarks, and 107 subscriptions
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Not really XD This fandom’s pretty wild - I’ve read fics about Atsushi with a barbed penis I think I’ve found the dark side XD
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I want to be better about writing smut - oh, and not abandoning my WIPs.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Popular ships - but I have a fondness for rarepairs.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
13. 8 complete, 5 WIPs
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
I can’t even count. I have way too many fics on my Google Docs. XD
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Mostly in my head - if I can’t pump out a chapter, I’ll just think about it a lot.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Yes - I wrote an OHSHC with my friend when I was like... eleven or twelve.
16. How did you discover AO3?
Hetalia.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
I think in BSD, and in the FE: Fates, but not in anything else. I have a fairly popular AOT fic, and a decently popular Death Note one, but neither of those made me.... like, well-known or anything.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Not really.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
JK Rowling, and Rick Riordan. But my style is more inspired by Jennie Melamed
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Just keep going. Someone will be there to appreciate your content - someone appreciates your content. Don’t let trolls or rude people get you down. You’re valid and have a strong place in this fandom.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
..... figure it out.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yes. My first PJO fic. I deleted my Fanfiction.net account.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
SMUT. I CANNOT. WRITE. SMUT. L
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Call It What You Want
This Too, Will Pass
What I Live For
The Holy City
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
PLAN? I START THEM JFC.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
I count it pretty good if I get a sentence in between homework and chores XD But I try to answer one ask relating to my WIPs a day.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
DEFINTITELY.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Five Times Dazai Didn’t Stay and One Time He Did
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Making Shades of Purple
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Um..... writing.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Metaphors - I love integrating metaphors into all of my works. It’s probably one of my favourite parts.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Not getting sidetracked
33. Why do you write?
It’s always been my passion. No matter what other option has been presented to me, the idea of melding characters, ideas, creativity, and logic into one little drabble or a long, winding story. I also like that I can share a piece of myself with all of you. It’s the closest I’ve gotten to opening up to someone in a long time.

I really like what I’ve read about Dazai messing with Chuuya in your fic! I think you have some great ideas and entertaining interactions between the characters! I really hope to see more of what you write soon because I really think you have so much to offer!
I’d also love to get the chance to talk to you more! You seem so kind and creative! There’s so many ideas that you have that seem so smart and cool and I’m happy to have you around! I’m wishing you tons of luck with what you write next! I’m sure it’ll be great!
💌💌💌
Estelle!! How are you today? It’s your giftee here! <3
I went to go check on your works and saw that you have only one fic written for Bungou Stray Dogs, and what’s more, it’s your gift from the Secret Santa event we both have attended! So I decided to read the fic, because I saw Dazai/Atsushi/Chuuya, which is a ship that warms my heart very much. I’ll read anything that involves them, honestly, even though not much because I’m too rarepair-focused for anything else. But for you, I did read the fic.
Oh boy, you have no idea how much I loved it.
The summary was, in itself, interesting enough. Unfortunately, I did not come to wonder about the possibilities of Atsushi joining the Sheep and being under Chuuya’s leadership, at least during the timeline of Fifteen, so that was new for me.
First sentence of Chapter 1 and I’m already laughing at Dazai and Chuuya’s bickering. You’ve got them very in-character here, honestly; Dazai and Chuuya bickering for days on end is just hopeless, haha. But you still stayed true to what happened in Fifteen, even if Atsushi had replaced the two Sheep kids who went for Chuuya. Chuuya and Atsushi’s friendship here is just so sweet – with Chuuya keeping Atsushi’s tiger-ability a secret to the Sheep and all. And the comedy. The bickering. God, it’s the best.
Oh, but that’s still Chapter 1, alright. I really loved Chapter 2, as well. There’s still the bickering, of course, because of course Dazai and Chuuya are not Dazai and Chuuya if they aren’t in a quarrel, even if just once. But what really makes this chapter shine is the action behind all of it; I got to see Dazai who’s always in the middle of the action, planning together everything and piecing things together for the mission to be a success. Chuuya, of course, is there, and he’s just as much a valuable partner and asset to Dazai in this chapter, even if Dazai won’t say it. They’re partners, Double Black, and this chapter proves such point.
I also really like how they met with Atsushi once again, and the awkwardness, and Chuuya being defensive for him.
“I wrote that we needed assistance, and promised a sum of money.” “…You bribed Atsushi?” “It’s only fair, seeing as he’ll be running into danger with us.” “If he gets hurt, I’m killing you.”
This little exchange made me laugh. Agh, same, Chuuya, same. One of my favorite conversations. I love it, estelle.
But this chapter, overall, has action and mystery, and you added a bit of spice to everything that makes it so good… and of course, the collaboration between Chuuya, Dazai, and Atsushi adds to the whole package. Also, that one little detail where Mori wanted to stop the experiment mentioned made me love the guy even more, even if you did not intend for it… I think. But yes, Mori sending Chuuya and Dazai on a mission to stop an experiment and project that’s capturing ability users and using them as super-soldiers is just… honestly, it’s just one tiny detail, but through this you’ve shown how Mori can be a great leader with even the tiniest bit of compassion in him. Maybe it’s just me, though, while I was reading Chapter 2 ^^;
And then we get to Chapter 3, where finally we meet the super-soldiers and is the Atsushi-centric chapter here. There’s still a lot of action, of course, and I love it. But what I really love most about this is the way you’ve written Atsushi’s own observations to what is going on, and also how useful his transformations can be in the heat of a battle. They succeed in the mission, of course; I feel a bit sorry for the super-soldiers, though. And of course, by the end, you really did have to add yet another Chuuya and Dazai quarrel. I smiled at the last sentence, when it was stated that "Maybe he wouldn’t mind seeing them again, after all”. Honestly, I won’t mind either; in fact, I want more interactions of SKK + Atsushi in this canon-divergence.
Thaaat’s all I got for you! I really do love your fic, and I hope you continue writing more! Kudos and cheers to you, estelle! <33
💌💌💌
You are mostly a lurker, so I don’t know you incredibly well as I don’t think we’ve ever interacted before, but you seem like a very nice person and I’m sure that you would be a lot of fun to talk to! I looked over your posts in the server to try to get a better feel for you as a person, and although there weren’t as many messages from you as most of the others in the server, the ones that I did find show that you have some really cool ideas! That fae AU you mentioned sounded pretty neat and very unique!!!
I checked out your AO3, too, and you’re a very good writer!!! I especially liked your characterization of Chuuya a lot, because it seemed very on-point! Hhh, I’m super sorry this lovemail isn’t very long but, even if we’ve never spoken, I do think you’re a really cool person and I’m glad you’re here with us, really.
💌💌💌
Happy lovemail day!! I hope your day is going super great already, and that it only gets better and better!
We don’t talk much, but I can tell you are an incredibly sweet and good, talented person and honestly I’m so lucky to have been assigned to you because I got to read such an absolutely wonderful fanfic! Like, wow, you totally blew me away!
First of all your writing style is so smooth. Everything feels natural and fast paced and fun, I flew through the story because I was just so excited to see where it was going and delighted to discover the answers. You’re dialogue is fantastic and so incredibly in character, especially for the back and forth between Chuuya and Dazai. I’ve read several “15” era fics but yours stands out to me as incredibly well characterized. I super love the tone of your fanfic, and the feel of reading it, there’s mystery and action but also quite a few hilarious little one-liners that had me laughing out loud because they’re so parsecs and your descriptions are so clear that I can just picture the scene in my mind. This whole fic is honestly a gem!
Additionally, the way you write young Dazai is SO in character, and your Chuuya is an absolute badass and I love him so much. It’s so clear you have a deep grasp of who skk are at 15, and that knowledge is coming through clearly in your fic and makes it so good to read.
Atsushi in this piece is also wonderful! I love the way this AU backstory creates a bond of friendship between Atsushi and Chuuya, this pair is so exciting and I’m thinking more and more about how I’d like to see content of them after reading your fic because your words have opened my mind to their dynamic in such a fresh way.
I am so floored by your writing that I just know I will come back and read that story over and over. You are an incredibly talented person and I’m subscribing because I can’t wait to see more from you!!
Have the best day, you deserve it!

@nenufair tagged me in the self fic-rec challenge, so i guess the object is to post 5-10 fics and comment what you liked about it?
i wish i had more than 4 fandoms in my ao3 lmao
así despacio reconozco libertad - all for the game
words: 2020 // explicit rating
They've talked about doing something different before. Hell, they've tried to get Andrew's mental stability to agree to doggy-style with semi-successful results, all ending with Neil maneuvering them so Andrew could have some semblance of control back. But Andrew is having a good night, and he's going to let Neil fuck him against the headboard on their bed and he's going to cum so hard his legs feel it for the next 12 hours.
this is literally 100% porn. i’m not even gonna fool you here. 100% trans!andrew minyard porn, because i love him and i actually somewhat enjoyed how this came out.
in the ruins of man - all for the game
words: 1545 // general audiences
In the aftermath of chaos, Neil looks back on his life.
this was a fic i wanted to have end up longer but it never did. i chopped it from about 5k to 1.5k because it was s h i t, and this was the result. i still do enjoy how this came out, though.
decadence and humanity go hand in hand - bungou stray dogs
words: 6313 // explicit rating
His nose is still dripping blood and Ango is suddenly reminded how lethal Dazai truly is, and how, if he felt the need, could snap Ango's neck with one hand and both feet tied behind his back.
(He's seen it happen before. He is not thinking about it.)
IM LAUGHIN THIS FIC TOOK ME LIKE SEVEN YEARS TO CREATE AND ITS SHAMELESS DAZANGO NSFW. the list of kinks in this thing is the side of my mothers ego, in all honestly, including but not limited to power play, pet play, blood play, and some implied defacing of some church pews.
just like siblings - bungou stray dogs
words: 737 // general audiences
the moment dazai realizes kyouka will always be his family.
-
Kyouka didn't have to come after him. She didn't have to lock the door so no one would bother them before he was ready. She didn't have to stay by his side, didn’t have to look at him, didn't have to protect him like this.
one of the softest things ive ever written. dazai and kyouka bonding over their mutual pasts because i sure as hell didnt get it enough in canon.
of juice boxes and nail polish - k project
words: 1333 // general audiences
a soft moment with kusanagi, his weird boyfriend, and their adopted kid. set in-universe.
---
He lets his eyes close.
This is catastrophic for several reasons.
the last thing i posted both in general and within the fandom. im always a ho for soft moments between my favorite boys, especially when they’re having very begrudging fun. the soulwrecks (trainwreck soulmates) are at it again.
a fold in space and time - star wars
words: 370 // general audiences
He knows damn well what people think of him.
He hears them sometimes, walking down, down, down into the mouth the temple, walking away from a mission, breathing too heavily in the presence of sensitive politicians.
He knows. He's just never... understood, per se.
both the oldest thing in my ao3 and the only star wars thing ive posted. i might hate looking at it now and refuse to even try and edit it due to how bad i think it is, it’ll always hold a special place in my heart tbh.
im only gonna put five fics, but these are the ones i like the most, i think? or at least hold sentiment to me. i tag @stubbornjerk bc i have no other writer ish friends lMAO
