Ok so. Long unnecessary rant incoming, just for the sake of ranting and to no one's interest but - I'm gonna be honest. I'm legitimately making plans to leave Tumblr long term, like I'm unfollowing more tags and blogs with each update, and already planning out How or Why I will or won't use tumblr once some of these updates take place.
And here's the thing. I've been parked on this site for Years. I've been a Committed user for nearly a decade, unshaken by Plenty of bad updates. If anything I probably look like that "I can excuse x but draw the line at y (you can excuse x???)" Meme to some.
But this is a final straw because Tumblr's stripping everything that made it stand out and unique, which means I'll leave because I can't excuse x AND y. Y took away the Only thing keeping me going in this case.
And here's why I feel like this is significant - I'm a very archive-oriented person.
I don't just delete things. I don't just ditch things once I'm committed to them. I love to be able to preserve moments in time with trinkets and files and Tumblr has been perfect for that for so long. For archiving art and posts I love even when the blog they came from was deleted or deactivated. Time capsules I could catalogue and fondly look back on. I expanded my tagging systems at my own detriment just so that others could find similar solace in my blog, if they so chose. It was little, but important to me. It felt like a meaningful thing.
But I've hit the point where I'm about ready to just. give up on archiving here.
I'm going to slowly unfollow more people - mostly to avoid new things put on my dash. No more 'doomscrolling', no more new things to add to my long list of stuff to properly 'archive'.
I'm going to start clearing out my likes - by reblogging in honor of the OP in some cases, unliking bc I won't be coming back in others.
I'm probably even going to delete several of my side blogs which. If you knew how many I have and how hard it's been to justify deleting any of them to myself, you'd understand the gravity of this statement.
And - I'm gonna be blunt.
I don't even have anywhere in mind to go.
This isn't me ditching for a better site. I don't think there even is one, for me.
I'm literally leaving just to leave. I have no other options. I am not gonna let that stop me. If I'm going to end up with zero online presence other than Maybe on Discord servers, so be it.
That's essentially where I'm at right now.
So mutuals, if I unfollow, this is just part of the process. It's gradual, I still have posts to reblog or queue up so you'll see me in your notes for a while I'm sure. But basically I'll be pulling away from this site bit by bit going forward I think, unless Tumblr does some hard turnarounds they won't.

Dreams of Drowning: Chap 13
AO3
Please Reblog!
It's finally time, for... The Arcadia Job.
“We understand Jimbo.” Toby waved from the ground. “Go do your hero thing. We’ll back you up if you need it. As soon as the world comes back into focus.”
Toby laid on his back in the middle of the street trying to catch his breath as Jim’s car turned the next corner out of sight. His arms felt like they were full of lead. Even lifting his head took more energy than he had.
“How does Jim do this magic stuff all the time?” He asked to no one in particular.
“He’s had his magic longer than either of us have.” Barbara said.
She was also sitting on the ground not far from Toby, her legs splayed out in front of her. After a few deep breaths she tried to force herself to stand. She got to her feet a little unsteadily.
“Is anyone injured? I can-whoa.”
Barbara took one step while she was talking and would have fallen flat on her face had Zelda not dove to catch her. She carefully held Barbara for a moment before lifting her up into her arms in a bridal carry.
“If anyone is hurt we can heal on our own. You need to rest before you do anything else.” Zelda said as she carried Barbara to the house.
She stepped carefully over the wreckage of the living room to set her wife down at a chair in the dining room. Toby watched them go, then rose with a groan and dragged himself to the house. Strickler stepped up to him and threw an arm over his shoulder to help him to the door. He kept his phone pressed to his ear with his other hand.
“Yes I know I haven’t called in forever, will you just listen?” Strickler was saying into the phone. “Angor I’ve got a problem I need your help with. What do you mean you’re not in the country any more? Cambodia! Why are in you in Cambodia?”
Toby zoned out of the conversation as he sat at the table next to Barbara. He rested his head on his arms, Jim’s mom seeming equally exhausted. Zelda was bustling around the kitchen, quickly getting some food for Toby and her wife. When a small plate of food and some tea was put in front of them, Barbara smiled up at her, exhaustion and love showing in every line of her face.
“Thank god one of us can cook.” Barbara said. “Thank you my love.”
Toby took out his phone while Barbara slowly took a sip of her tea. He fiddled with the phone idly while he thought. Some how he would have to tell Darci about what happened. Tell her that he had magic. Also explain that the truck was probably totalled from Bular flipping it. As he was about to call her he froze. To his right Barbara gasped, her cup slipping from her limp fingers to shatter on the ground.
“Something’s wrong.” He said.
“Jim-” Barbara whispered.
The two of them looked at each other. They could feel Jim’s fear and anger. Then a wave of pain and exhaustion washed over them. Zelda dashed to Barbara’s side as she groaned and steadied her as she wavered in her chair. Toby’s vision faded to a pinprick for a moment as he struggled to stay conscious.
And then the scream. It tore through his mind, shutting down the entire world. He couldn’t hear it over the scream in his head, but he was screaming out loud as well, his scream tearing its way out of his throat.
Time stood still. Toby could see through his own eyes. He could see the floor of the Lake-Nomura house where he had collapsed. He could feel Strickler’s arms on him keeping him from hitting his face on the floor. Brilliant orange fire roaring around him.
He could see through Barbara’s eyes. The navy light that shone from her, was mixed with a neon green light. He could see through Zelda’s eyes, her skin shifting and changing like rocks sliding down a cliff, revealing different skin tones in flashes of green. They held each other while they both screamed.
He could see through Darci’s eyes. Her magic moved like a whirling wind pulling her dreadlocks. She screamed by herself, alone, on the floor of the Domzalski house kitchen. Her hands were desperately wrapped around her belly, as her magic picked up to what seemed like a cyclone.
Toby could see through Jim’s eyes. He could see his best friend and first love get pulled slowly toward a pool filled with some strange dark material. He recognized that it was somehow linked to the corrupted heartstone that Jim had been so afraid of. Toby realized he couldn’t sense Claire at all in that moment.
Time suddenly returned to its regular pace. The fear disappeared like it was swallowed by the sun. Toby struggled to catch his breath. His throat hurt from the force of his scream. His hands were shaking as he grabbed Strickler’s arm for support. He could hear the ragged breathing of the Lake-Nomuras as they too recovered from what happened. Barbara was the first to speak.
“Is Jim…?” Even though she didn’t finish her sentence the others knew what she was trying to ask.
“I can’t sense Jim at all now.” Toby said. He stood, expecting to be exhausted, but instead he felt energized. He felt better than he had in years, probably since being a teenager. He flexed his arms and his flames roared to life around him. Strickler took an astonished step back. Barbara was shining with her navy light and beside her Zelda’s skin continued to shift and change like tectonic plates. Each shift was accompanied by a flash of green.
“We have to go after Little Gynt.” Zelda said. Though her voice currently sounded like Coach Lawrence and her body looked like Strickler’s. Her voice followed her body, slowly slipping into Strickler’s posh British accent, while her body shifted again to look like Toby. “Whatever happened, whyever we can’t feel him, we need to try and rescue him.”
“And Claire.” Barbara said. She let the light fade from her eyes, though it still shown and moved under her skin. “Jim was willing to risk his life to save her, and whatever else we can’t let anyone else suffer these feelings, especially not someone we love.”
Toby snapped his fingers.
“That reminds me! I have to call Darc!”
He looked to where his phone had fallen when he collapsed. He lifted his hand and orange flames whirled around the phone and brought it flying to his hand. However before he could even dial the phone announced an incoming call. He answered it quickly when he saw who it was.
"Hey Darc-"
"Is something wrong with Jim?" Darci interrupted. Toby blanched at the tone in her voice.
"No! There's nothing wrong with Jimbo!"
"Don't lie to me! I can tell when you're lying!" She hesitated and Toby could feel the wind pick up around her as if he was by her side. “I can tell when you’re lying.”
Toby took a deep breath. There was no point in playing around any more.
“Ok, so Jim lost contact with Claire and went to go check on her. I awakened my magic powers about an hour ago when Bular came to try and kill us again. Now you and Zelda have awakened your powers as well. I can’t feel Jim at all, and we are going to have to go in and save him with only a half baked plan and marginal chance of success. So do you want to come over and kill me yourself before I get arrested?”
Darci was silent on the other end of the line for a few moments.
“I’m on my way. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
Toby hung the phone, then stared at the screen for a moment.
Good news, bad news time. Darci is on her way, and her magic is awakened as well. On the other hand she didn’t clarify whether or not she was going to kill me when she arrived.”
Several minutes, one hurried explanation and multiple calls later, Darci was up to speed on what had happened and what their plan up to this point was. Toby thought it would take a bit of convincing to get the police to leave, so they weren’t left doing paper work for the rest of the night, but apparently along with being a human lie detector, Darci could now tell any lies she wanted and they were believed without question. Once she was caught up, and the authorities mislead about the gunfire that had been heard, they all left for 49B.
“Alright, just to review everyone’s jobs one last time.” Strickler said as he drove. Zelda was next to him in the car, while Darci, Toby and Barbara were crammed together in the back. “I’ll be in the car running mission ops. I’ll keep you updated on everything from here. Zelda, you and Mrs. Domzalski are on infiltration. Get in, find out what’s become of Young Atlas and get out. Meanwhile Barbara and Mr. Domzalski will be targeting the generator room that Jim trashed. Apparently its tied to whatever equipment they used to keep Claire in captivity, and possibly now Jim as well. Once the generator is destroyed and we know Young Atlas’s whereabouts we, well, improvise to extract him and his lady fair.”
“Just what I like in a plan. A massive question mark right in the middle of the operation.” Zelda growled to herself, before her body shifted to take on the appearance of an industrial inspector.
They pulled up to 49B far too soon. Toby cracked his knuckles nervously as he and Jim’s mom stepped out of the car. Barbara wore Zelda’s motorcycle helmet to hide her face. Toby wore a pair of welding goggles and a bandana from his truck. Zelda’s identity was already hidden by her transformation. The only one exposed was Darci. Toby glanced nervously at his already visibly pregnant wife.
Toby and Zelda stared each other down. “Take care of her.” “Keep her safe.” They spoke over each other, both anxious about being separated from their respective wives. Barbara put her hand gently on Zelda’s chin for a soft second before they both turned away. Toby moved to follow Barbara and he felt a tickle of air flutter around him. He smiled and in an instant all four minds were connected.
Toby could feel their fear flowing easily, fear of failure, fear of capture, fear of what had happened to Jim. He could also feel the hole left by Jim’s absence. There was a very clear spot where he belonged in the fabric of their minds. A place where his love should be. A place where he would have been able to steady them and encourage them to move forward. The hole ached in Toby’s mind.
He and Dr Lake-Nomura quickly reached the rear door. He paused for a second, watching in his mind’s eye as Darci and Zelda approached the main entrance. The wind picked up around Darci each time she lied to the guard to get their way in. Then once they were out of sight of the first guard Zelda changed to look just like him as she escorted Darci.
“Look at the card reader.”
Toby refocused on his current surroundings at Barbara’s words. The card reader that employees normally used to unlock the door had a small burn mark, like it had been shorted out. He tried the door itself and found it open. He pulled his hammer from his back and opened the door slowly.
There was no one at all inside. They quickly ran down the hallway until they were outside the door to the mechanical room Jim had trashed earlier. He paused, and glanced through Darci’s vision. She and Zelda had just made it to the security office. Zelda had incapicated the guard inside and assumed his form.
“TP, All the cameras for the facility are already off. They didn’t want anyone to know what they were doing today.” Darci’s voice slipped into his mind.
“And it looks like all security officers were ordered to avoid the basement level.” Nomura’s thoughts followed Darci’s. “Classified experiment on Entity 001 and Entity 002. Per orders from Gunmar Black.”
“That must be Jim and Claire!” Toby cheered. “We’ll trash the generator then head down to get them out.”
“Stay safe you too. It’s about to get dark.” Barbara thought.
The door to the mechanical room was locked, which wasn’t too surprising considering what Jim had managed to do to it last time. However it was the work of a moment to push some of his fiery magic into the key hole and in a moment it was unlocked. He opened the door for Jim’s mom to step in.
“Would you like to do the honors?” Toby asked, gesturing to the array of recently repaired machinery.
Barbara hesitated, her thoughts whirling through their shared connection. She wanted to take a small revenge by destroying the equipment, but was terrified of someone getting hurt and wanted to reserve her magic for saving Jim if that was necessary.
Toby nodded his understanding, putting a comforting hand on her arm. He double checked that Darci and Zelda were safe, they had locked the security office, Zelda sealing it by warping the concrete around the door frame, then he ignited his hammer.
Orange flames whirled around the room and it only took a few precise hammer blows for the lights to fail again, but that wasn’t enough. He was getting his best friend out of this facility and no one would ever use it to hurt people again. Broken sheets of metal flew into the air as he hammered away. Each piece floated for a second before joining a growing sphere of metal that was forming in the center of the room.
He focused, putting the full might of his gravity magic to the task. The sphere grew as more metal and debris were pulled to it, then compressed as he forced the material into one solid. Before too long he had a sphere just a touch taller than he was, all of solid metal. He strained, putting more and more magic into lifting the ball up to the ceiling. His arms were shaking, and sweat poured down his brow, only to evaporate in the heat of his magic. Finally when he couldn’t take the strain any more, he slammed the sphere straight down into the floor.
The floor of the mechanical room gave way like wet paper before the concentrated weight of the sphere. A rumbling crash echoed through the room as it impacted, and passed through the floor below them.
Toby didn’t hesitate to jump down into the pit he had created, Jim’s mom right behind him. He used his magic to slow their descent. They both landed safely in a hallway that was now completely filled with dust. They both dimmed their magic so they wouldn’t give themselves away prematurely. They froze at the sound of coughing ahead of them.
“The entities must have outside contacts” A woman’s voice could be heard through the dust. “Get to the security booth! I’ll make sure they don’t break containment!”
They both recognized the voice of Dr. Le Fay, the woman who had imprisoned and tortured Claire and surely orchestrated Jim’s capture. Toby waved his hand in the air and the orange flames of his magic swept forward, settling the dust instantly. Barbara was already charging the woman in gold.
“That’s my son you bitch!” Navy light shone from her fist as she punched Le Fay in the face.
Gunmar turned with a growl, but before he could do more to react Toby had cocked his hammer back and threw it with all his might and magic. It hit him right in the chest and blasted him backwards through a wall.
The rumbling that had started when Toby had dropped his meteor, suddenly picked up again, shaking the whole room. Barbara stumbled as a horrific growling filled the room. The noise seemed to go on and on without stopping, and it was coming from the room Gunmar had just been flung through. As they watched a massive hand burst through the ground. Another followed shortly after.
Something emerged from the hole. It was massive, had stone skin and incredible horns that swept back from its head. It opened its mouth, revealing huge tusks, and roared. The roar was powerful enough to shatter glass. Toby and Barbara crouched their hands over their ears as the roar rumbled through their bodies. Finally the roar ended and they could both breath again.
Toby stood, drawing the thing’s attention. Blue eyes glowed in the darkness, and blue flames licked out of the creature’s mouth and nostrils.
“Jim? Is that you? Jimbo?” Toby called to it, a tremor in his voice.
“Please Jim, we’re here to free you!” Barbara stood next to him, reaching out her hand for whatever this thing was.
Instead of answering the creature, that towered over them both, growled, more flames pouring out of his mouth. Toby reacted on instinct, grabbing Barbara and pivoting with her so he took the brunt of the fire on his back, sheltering her. If this was Jim, what had they done to him? If this wasn’t, then they had no chance of saving him.

Origin Stories Part Three: Stumble and Fall
"Thank you for sharing." Elliott said over coms. There was a pause. Then as if not wanting to accept that the story had ended, he continued. "Say. Did you find anything interesting at the Truck Stop?"
Boop chuckled and leaned forward in the cockpit. A black gloved hand tapped a weird figure on the dash. Something Pip had decided was a 'Bobble Head'. Shaped like a moose, it's comically oversized head bounced back and forth. When they had found it, all those years ago, the plastic’s color had faded and spring rusted away. With a little care it looked almost good as new. Turns out Boop was halfway decent with a paintbrush.
"I'll have to show you sometime. Old world figure. Think you'd like it."
"So, guess it's my turn?"
"Nah. Take a nap. I could use some quiet myself. We should be fresh for landing anyway."
"Thats fair." There was mild disappointment in Elliott's voice. "Poke me if anything comes up."
"Will do." Boop muted the channel, and reached back into the thick black fur lined hood, causing Pip to release an angry sounding series of beeps. "Stop that. I want to recline. I can't do that with you there!"
"Oh fine." Pip grumbled as he was removed from the hood, but the lights flowing across his eye was a slow content parade of color. He resettled in Boop's arms once the Hunter had leaned the seat back, and the two settled in for some nice reflective quiet.
---------------------
"Arrival in fifteen minutes."
Elliott jerked awake, the scraps of some dream involving Hive fading quickly from memory. He rubbed his face and shook his head, trying to remove the fog of sleep. Caush hovered steadily at his shoulder.
"Pip's chosen landing zone is an estimated twelve minutes, twenty second sparrow ride from the target. Should give us an element of surprise. I would have picked a location further out, to reduce the chances of the ships being spotted, but calculations show the distance is… adequate."
Caush was rambling again. Elliott squeezed his way out of the small cockpit and into the only slightly larger space behind the pilot’s seat. He had to stoop quite a bit.
"It's an industrial area, lots of cover. Target is holed up in a shipping warehouse. We unfortunately don't have recent info on the area, but I've prepared multiple calculations on the most likely scenarios."
Their ship wasn't appointed great for long trips away from the tower, but the two of them wouldn't trade it for the shiniest exotic. It was a junker Caush had discovered many years ago, long before finding Elliott. Keeping the ship's location secret the Ghost had waited till his Titan's first Dawning to reveal its location. Together the two had worked many long hours fixing it up. To them it was worth the world. It could seat four between the cockpit and a wide bench behind in a space not big enough to call a cabin. However, there was plenty of storage hidden in the walls and floor. And while the ship did boast some decent communications and recon equipment, it completely lacked any form of living luxuries. But they made do.
Fighting with a latch that probably should be replaced, Elliott opened one cabinet and stored his empty thermos, and retrieved a second one. He cracked it open, and smiled in relief at escaping steam. He always brought multiple.
"Pip passed on that Boop said to be ready for a fight. In a confined area." Caush sounded miffed. "As if I hadn't already considered that possibility. What do they think I am? Some kind of Battle Frame?"
"I'm sure it wasn't meant that way." Elliott opened another cabinet, this one was in much better shape. He started pulling out ammo packs, holding each one up for Caush to store in a flurry of sparks. "Now. What do you think we should take?"
Caush's solitary eye was a flurry of color as he ran calculations again. Potential threats, the target's location, all known data was sifted through till he was satisfied with the outcome.
"Take that absurd auto rifle of yours. The spread will be useful in close quarters. That new scout we found might come in handy, If we need the range. And, of course, the machine gun."
"Sounds good to me."
Elliott pulled the suggested gear from various cabinets, giving Caush the machine gun to hold on to. The scout went across his back, the auto he'd keep at the ready.
"Brace for landing." Caush said, and Elliott widened his stance. Not that he needed too, Caush was an impeccable pilot and there wasn't even the slightest bump as the ship was set down.
The two disembarked just in time to see Boop summoning a black sparrow that was as sleek and silent as the Hunter's jumpship. Elliott did the same, his own being in better shape then his ship, as it was quite a bit newer. It had been gifted to him by the first Guardian he had ever met. A Titan by the name of McKay.
Their Ghosts dematerialized and they took off In silence. Well, almost silence, as Caush gave regular updates to the both of them as they traveled. They had done countless ops together, they knew their roles.
As they got close to the location, Boop picked up speed, and Elliott slowed, letting the distance widen between them. He watched as his friend took a hard left and vanished down a side street. Elliott did not follow. He’d approach the obvious way. Draw attention to himself, while the Hunter snuck in to cause chaos from behind.
“Large building with blue trim. Up on the left.” Caush said, and while his voice was calm and steady, there was a slight hint of anticipation to it. “Adjusting calculations.”
“How close are your predictions so far?”
“Too soon to tell. Estimated thirty minutes of engagement remaining to make an accurate calculation. But 99.8 percent. Prior data suggested the building’s trim was green.”
Elliot laughed and shook his head, Caush loved his data. The Titan accepted the roles in their relationship. His Ghost did the thinking, he punched things.
Reaching the building Caush had pointed out, he cut the sparrow's engine and jumped off, letting it glide to a halt without him. He hit the ground running towards a gaping hole in the wall where an entrance might have once been. It looked suspiciously like something large had forced it's way in. He had to watch his footing as he went, for a series of evenly spaced potholes, like small impact craters, dotted the already heaved and cracked asphalt.
"Well, that's familiar eh?" He joked, not slowing his pace.
"Updating calculations. It was an unfortunate possibly."
"We'll handle it. Update Boop."
"Already done. Not answering me, but that's expected."
Suddenly he was through the gaping hole, sunblind in the dark interior. He ducked to the right, to put his back against a wall, auto rifle at the ready. Keeping the potholes in mind he threw his shoulder forward, forcing his Light into a glittering barricade in front of him. Elliott waited the breathless heartbeats as his eyes adjusted, listening expectantly for the sounds of wire rifles.
But nothing came. All was silent.
"Huh."
"This is quite outside my calculations. I'm not detecting any lifeforms."
"None?"
"Nothing."
"Ok then. Let's take a look around."
Elliott stepped forward through his barricade, auto rifle up. Still there was no movement. No sound.
The interior of the warehouse had been modified into Eliksni style housing, a true maze of ramshackle walls and fabric. Elliott slowly worked his way through twisting halls, noting the signs of a hasty exit. Debris of all sorts strewn about the alcoves. Articles of clothing, household items, technology scraps and things he couldn't name.
"Odd. Very much outside of expected parameters." Caush's observations were made from the safety of non material space. No way he would risk exposure in such an unknown situation. "Signs of quick vacation. Estimated time, three days ago."
Eventually Elliott came to a large open area that was roughly in the center of the building. Here the concrete floor gave way to wood and salvaged carpets, and a good chunk of the ceiling was gone, letting light in and illuminating the area. A central square? Gathering place?
Curious he stepped into the space, eyes sweeping left and right, looking for trouble. It was quiet.
Suddenly, something small pinged off his helmet. His auto rifle came up instinctively, looking for the source. A thumbnail sized pebble rolled to a stop in front of him.
Scanning the environment again quickly, something caught his eye. Up. A silhouette was outlined against the sky waving hands in an almost frantic chopping motion. Boop.
“Caush?” He started, but he didn't need his Ghost to tell him this had most likely been a trap. Boop wouldn't have let him walk blind into something unless… suddenly he remembered the radio silence.
The darkness to his left shifted. Then his right. Far to many sets of sickly yellow-green eyes started appearing all around him as the forms lumbered forward from the dark. Elliott glanced back the way he came and saw more. Totally surrounded. A slightly manic grin came to his face. Of all the enemies of humanity, Hive was his favorite to fight. Why they were here and not Eliksni, he didn’t know or care.
Caush started rambling away inside his head, listing positions and numbers, possible cover locations and anything else he thought might benefit the Titan. Elliott leveled his auto rifle at the largest group, and pulled the trigger.
PAFF.PAFF.PAFF. The auto rifle chuffed, kicking back violently in Elliott's hands. PAFF.PAFF.PAFF. With each firing four barrels went off in unison, creating an unavoidable hail of death not unlike a shotgun scatter, but with the reach and predictability of an auto rifle.
In the heartbeats between trigger pulls, he was dimly aware of the crack of Boop's sniper.
Hive Thralls fell in droves from bullets and Elliott's Arc covered fist. Knights slowed their charge to a standstill at his onslaught. But when an Ogre lumbered out of the shadows it was Elliott who gave ground. He did so willingly, needing the space. If he didn't thin the masses soon he would be overwhelmed. Out in the center of the open area his mind touched Caush's. No words were exchanged, just impressions. They were ready.
Elliott jumped, utilizing Light to gain extra height. His body exploded in a fury of Arc energy. Fists together, eyes blazing, he plummeted towards the Ogre, alight in a maelstrom of lightning.
One good slam should clear out enough to turn the tide.
Boop screamed his name, voice filled with panic.
As Elliott hit the ground and broke through the false wood floor he understood why.
It had been a trap after all.

Fix it Headcanons...
After sitting here writing a really tldr post to get things off my chest, I felt like it just wasn’t worth the post because a lot of you are already saying things that I totally agree with and yeah...it’s not worth it so I’m just going to move on and conjure up headcanons because I need to cope with that ending.
So instead, I will in tumblr traditon make a reaction gif post on my feelings with some commentary about the characters.
The New Organization XIII
Tumblr media
I wish a bit more was done with you guys??? I’m half and half on their role in this game, *shrugs* Also I am assuming Nomura pretty much confirms that Demyx is also from the past and now I’m wondering if we will get a story update for him in KHUX.
Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if all the story content we need before KH4 is going to be handled through the mobile game...eh...great..........just...fucking swell.
Can we petition for the Kingdom Hearts manga to continue? I think I rather have a physical boxset collection of the Kingdom Hearts manga, because at LEAST in the manga, characters actually get some goddamn growth......I’m not going to rant about Kairi just yet...
Disney Worlds and Characters
Tumblr media
Nothing like Nostalgia and good old fashion pandering with a dash of Disney films having a consistent foreshadowing theme of love, hope, loss, pain and SACRIFICE TO GET THE BLOOD PUMPING!
Tumblr media
What do you mean I’m bitter, I told you, I’m not!
Wayfinder Trio
Tumblr media
I have nothing awful to say about these three to be perfectly honest. I saw nothing wrong with Aqua and Ven getting bodied like some were because as much as I love Aqua and know she’s OP my girl was doing nothing but fighting in the realm of darkness and really had no time to recover, and then girlfriend fights my delightful little shit of a son,  and then girlfriend is STILL FIGHTING! I’ll let her being one-shotted by Terranort slide...
I will also let her running in front of Ven to shield Vanitas’ blast from hurting him go, because, honestly one could argue she probably was still exhausted and didn’t have time to react to put up another shield???
Ehh, this argument can go either way, really but I didn’t have a problem with any of it.
I just really loved everything about these three, they acted like friends/family who missed each other for YEARS...they hugged and cried together and then despite the fuckery of their Master/Father figure, I think they forgave him for his apology and I just started bawling my eyes out....AGAIN.
I really am not exaggerating and I wish I was but from the Aqua/Ventus reunion to the secret ending, I cried so hard.
I didn’t cry for him or his bald boyfriend...*twitches eye* I cried because those three children didn’t deserve any of this! None of these children deserved any of this! TT_TT That reunion was all I wanted.
Vanitas
Tumblr media
My poor fledging child, I knew your ultimate demise was nigh so I tried not to be too sad about it. Not gonna lie, Sully dragging your ass through that door and then multiple doors and then shredding that door was hella funny!
It can be confirmed tomorrow that you dead and I would resurrect you and all your glorious edginess and tsundere tendencies in my fanfics because if you don’t come back to be your own person, a sass master and the anti-hero that likes to stir trouble cause he can, to help get Sora back, while gloating about it in the same breath, than I don’t know what even is the fucking point of another game.
I do wish a bit more something meaningful was done with your supposed ‘redemption arc’??? I guess I’m suppose to assume that was a redemption arc...but it was handled so choppy I don’t know what to really make of it tbh...
Eraqus and Xehanort
Tumblr media
People think ya’ll going to heaven...nahh bruh you two fucked up! And I refuse to believe anything else. Yeah you two was real cute in the past before I’m assuming things went to complete shit but you two FUCKED UP!
I don’t know what the fuck Xehanort did to make Eraqus so jaded but because Eraqus felt jaded he indirectly dismisses Terra because ‘darkness’....BOI!
We already know Xehanort’s rep sheet we don’t even have to review it.
I don’t have any sadness for you two. Eraqus gives me mixed feelings I don’t like how he was the cause of Terra being norted, Aqua being lost in the realm of darkness and Ventus falling into a ten year magic coma but at least he didn’t rip a child’s soul in half to create some damn keyblade and control Kingdom Hearts so i guess he gets kudos???
I don’t care about Xehanort, NOT ONE CARE!
I’m glad that motherfucker is gone! Buh bye!
The Sea Salt Trio
Tumblr media
Axel/Xion/Roxas...you three did NOTHING WRONG!
That’s it, I sobbed and they reunited and they hugged and then they hugged Saix and then Saix is good again, they cried and shared Ice Cream with the Twilight Town Trio and it was great. It was all I asked for.
Namine
Tumblr media
You’re a precious delight, i wished we had more screen time of you in the game but c’est la vie. At least your character wasn’t ruined like someone’s I know.
The obvious Riku/Namine ship still surprises me but I totally dig it...still side-eyeing my green-eyed white haired son for some of his fuckery...but we about to get into that in a bit...
The Destiny Trio...BOI I am about to lose my fucking shit because really WTF WAS THAT?! You did everyone else right...except for these three?! the same three you started this glorious shitshow with?!
THESE THREE!?
Tumblr media
Sora: I have no issues with my baby here, if Nomura got one thing right, it was Sora. I still don’t like what you did to him and Kairi but as for as the writing for his character, that shit was on point so you get kudos Nomura...you get the fucking kudos!
Riku: ....What the fuck happened to the very close friendship between he and Kairi??? Like WTF?! I’m confused how we went from KH1 Riku giving into the darkness because he thought it would save Kairi to KH2 Riku looking out for Kairi and encouraging her to fight by giving her destiny’s embrace and crying when she recognized it was him, despite he looked like Ansem, to KH2.8 Riku having playful banter with her before he left off on his mission with Mickey to KH3 Riku who, outside of anyone not Sora, Mickey, Namine (because suddenly Nomura wants that to be canon obviously...) and to an extent, Aqua being this distant stoic character...
EXCUSE ME...but where was Riku’s usual anger and sadness when Kairi was taken by Xemnas and just outright killed?! IN FRONT OF HIM?!!
Say what you want about SoKai becoming canon, a close friend is still a close friend!
There was no reason to make Riku distant at all, like I don’t mind the SoKai sharing the paopu fruit scene but I still feel like that scene should have included all three of them. That should have been a call back to them having a bit of reprieve together like the ending of KH2. It would not have taken any time to have Riku have a moment with Repliku and have Kairi call him over after Sora asked ‘why he’s over there?’
I mean, damn! Even Sora was like, our group dynamic is off by -1???
Kairi: First of all, I am going to put it out there that, Kairi did not need to be overly super strong. Not for a girl that just started training to fight in the final battle and for what we did get, it was more than I had expected at all. I mean for a novice, girl did pretty damn decent with keeping up with berserker!Xion.
No, my annoyance is not at the lack of Kairi fighting, it’s being used as an unfortunate plot device and feeling like nobody except Sora cared enough about her. At times it did feel like my girl was treated as a burden that nobody wanted there because she was such an easy target to distract Sora....
And boi! When she got taken and then obliterated in front of Sora and the others I was both angry and sad, at this point I was already sobbing because Sora was sobbing and I felt that and my hate for Xemnas went from 100 to 1000 real fucking quick.
But like I already said, I started to get frustrated because Riku continued to seem like he was suddenly emotionally stunted when it came to Kairi, like my dude! YOUR FRIEND JUST DIED?! WHY AM I MORE ANGRIER THAN YOU?!? DO SOMETHING!! GO WITH SORA TO BRING HER BACK THAT’S YOUR FRIEND..YOU’RE NOT THE RIKU I REMEMBER WTF!?
Just jadlkfjflkajdjakdjk! *inhales than slowly exhales* Nomura, Nomura my dude, my pal, my senpai! There were a lot of ways you could have made SoKai canon that did not include sacrificing the deep, close 12yr bond that was Kairi’s and Riku’s friendship. The wasted potential...
You mean to tell me i waited for a DECADE, a freaking DECADE hoping that to have some real friendship bonding between Riku and Kairi and see nothing done with it!?
And speaking of SoKai...I know some people find it lackluster because unfortunately, Nomura never gave Kairi satisfying character growth that didn’t make it seem like she satellites around Sora and nothing else. But I more or less was never really bothered by how it developed, yea it could have used more work but I’m on very neutral ground. My only complaint is that I don’t like how at times it can seem a bit forced or rushed in 3 and I don’t like that Nomura thought it was a cool idea to make it seem like Kairi and Riku were never friends or that Riku never cared about Kairi.
I...I guess Nomura wants to fuel the ridiculous SoKai vs Soriku shipwars??? Because that is what your doing and those dumbass wars don’t need unfortunate implications from the actual game for people who didn’t get their ship canon to further hate Kairi because you decided that Riku needed to be ‘distant’...with HER, poor girl can’t catch a break because you promised character growth but you take one step forward, two steps back and she can’t break the damsel in distress trope. My poor baby.
I knew once I went to the Tangled world I knew KH was dealing with the consistent theme of Love, Pain, Hope, Loss and Sacrifice. This became more apparent when you get to PotC and I knew deep down that Kairi and Sora were bound to end up doing something to sacrifice their own lives for one another and yet, they have done this before and it turned out alright.
I hoped it would have been akin to KH1 but fuck me, how goddamn naive was I, amirite?! Nomura goes and does EXACTLY what I was wishing he wouldn’t do and he did it anyway, and I was no more good after that.
And then, AND THEN TO HAVE THE BALLS to make it look like Sora was there after all at the very end only to have him fade away. A part of my heart still aches from that and I’m surprised I didn’t wake up my household at 8am because I was sobbing that loud!
Yes I know Sora is alive but again, my heart and mind are in conflict. My mind wants to let go and update and reboot the phone but my heart is still stuck on a refresh/poor battery loop...
...............................................If Kairi is not out there with Riku to go find and save Sora in KH4 someone is going to feel my motherfucking wrath!
No, I’m serious! No more of this shafting Kairi bullshit! This is the perfect setup for a full on Kairi character growth arc. If I have to play that shit on a handheld or mobile well fucker bring it on!
Nomura, you have the story, Kairi could start out feeling loss and regret and guilt, blaming herself and thinking the other’s blame her for Sora not being there with them. And then she goes on a journey, hell she and Riku go on a journey together to reconnect and Riku, being a Keyblade Master could mentor Kairi in her training and she has some self discovery as she’s getting stronger and confident again in herself and it would be great because she’s finally getting to save Sora like she’s always wanted too!
You know what? YOU KNOW WHAT??!
FUCK IT!
Tumblr media
Because Nomura will never give me this and I will not hope for anything concerning Kairi’s character growth.
So I guess I have to fanfiction that shit my damn self...I think I will...
At least the gameplay for fucking fantastic and Yoko-san delievered with the music, when is that KH3 OST dropping again?
I need to eargasm to Anti-Aqua battle theme and the other promise/vector to the heavens one million times.
Also I’m legit done ranting, I got this off my chest so I can move on.
