#image commentary in tags once again since they don't allow captions anymore and I feel weird using the alt text for that --#1. Interesting formations in the bottom of a cocoa powder container #2. more pressed four leaf clovers for the year. found all in one day #3. this also led her to do med school. idk healer vic is something so personal for me. idk what exactly she’d be doing but i know it would be in the big buck areas. a dermatologist or a optometrist or a surgeon or something. she’s smart as hell.

very particular about presenting a good image for her family. she was the oldest weasley in the new generation and so she knew she had to present herself in a certain way, and she never thought she minded until she was suddenly 18 and having an identity crisis

furthermore, the rita skeeter incident with her and teddy nearly killed her. shes been through some traumatic shit but that was crossing the line

gets into so many fights with dominique because both of them are polar opposites and are jealous of each other for completely different reasons. dominique wishes she can fit into the mould like victoire so easily does, victoire wishes she could be as free and uncaring as dominique is. both don’t understand each other

HOWEVER victoire and dominique are the ultimate soulmates. it doesn’t matter how much they fight, they’re very close. dominique rants to her and sends her memes victoire can’t understand and victoire will still pay for dom’s meals when theyre out bcuz it doesn’t matter how old dominique is, she is still her little sister. and victoire retains every last piece of dom’s friendship group drama, and stalks them all on social media silently judging the shit out of them

very outwardly polite and nice to other people but always retains a sense of distance. she wants to be close to people but she doesn’t know how to build those connections— she’s very scared of being hurt or betrayed so she sticks with people she’s already known before her walls went up.

used to be a little dictator when her, dom, and louis played games around shell cottage. she would make all the rules and be very strict about following it all. dom and louis were useless at games without her, because they couldnt make rules where there were stakes and it wasn’t fun without them. yknow, older sibling shenanigans.

AND THEN YOU FACTOR IN PAIGE STILES AND ITS SO FUCKING. i genuinrly cannot even put it into enough words how much it makes me crazy. paige. jennifer. and how theyre both SO stiles. i just know stiles heart shattered when peter was telling that story and i KNOW stiles went on some research rampage on bh yearbooks and saw paige and just. this very devastating oh moment. immediately goes back and thinks abt every moment w derek and its like some slap to the face

alright okay so. this got long and i also mention some brief examples of gore in there. i hope its somewhat helpful?? or at all?? im not sure. im not great at giving advice im sorry

gore is something very precious and intimate to me. i feel like i approach it in a way people would approach a tender smut scene. because its the same to me. its being able to peel back someones little layers. to be inside them. to know them. to know them better than they know themselves, because honestly, when was the last time you took a peek at your own kidneys? yeah i thought so. gore too takes two or more people because whatever gore you can inflict on yourself is Nothing compared to the tender intimacy of someone else digging around in your stomach. its vulnerable. its beautiful.

as for literal descriptions, i always try to get very visceral with it, because i feel like it deserves detail and long drawn out paragraphs of description. there are so many sensations and sounds and sights and smells to describe. i cant write super detailed smut but i can write the exact way someone would reach inside someone else's ribcage and slide their fingers under the bone to caress their lungs. its just so much more comfortable to me. it feels like home.

i look at tons of images of specific elements of gore i want to write, real images, drawings, medical illustrations etc. when i can, i watch surgery videos on it. i want to know what it's like so i can write it as best as i can.

i like to relate it to my own life too. shout out to my 5th grade literature teacher who said "whenever i think about being burned at the stake, i like to imagine how much it hurts when i accidentally burn my hand on the clothing iron or stove. and thats just a moment, and a small surface." she was so real for that. breaking every bone in someones body? think back to that time u broke the tiniest bone in your wrist at age 11 and your entire arm went numb. putting needles in someones fingers? blood draws, or pricking yourself while sewing, but times ten or a hundred. and if you really cant relate it to yourself, read about it, read the symptoms, read the accunts of ppl who HAVE gone through it, try to really imagine it.

and dont forget about shock. shock is one of the best parts of gore to me. because you will probably go into shock when you see your severed arm (shout out to the medical instructor who taught us first aid on my drivers course).

idk. gore is something so precious and important to me. it just sucks me in, it feels like writing a long unhinged love letter as an obsessive lover. every time.

and that doesnt mean i condone gore or think its morally awesome to dismember someone. but you can write it that way from a whumper's perspective. but you can also write whumpers who dont really like it but have to do it for whatever reason. whumper pov is good if you dont want to try and explain how itd feel. some things i like to consider: is this the first time whumper does this? does it make them giddy with excitement? or is this the thousandth time and its just work to them? do they like what theyre doing? is it a means to an end or is it for fun? do they have any medical knowledge?

then of course you can write it from whumpee's perspective, which might be good for not going into anatomical detail. whumpee doesn't really see whats going on, most likely. and there's so much blood! it's their blood! theyre not thinking about anatomy, theyre thinking pain pain pain pain PAIN PAIN PAIN. some things i like to consider: has whumpee ever gone through something like this? is this the first time they're seriously hurt? is it the thousandth? and if it is the thousandth, how does it compare to the previous times? how is whumpee's pain tolerance? are they afraid of dying? do they have any medical knowledge, can they kinda gauge how bad the damage will be?

you can bring in a third observer, write it from their pov. itll be vastly different every time based on that character's own feelings towards gore, towards the two or more people involved, etc. there are so many ways to depict and explain what gore looks and feels like.

when i write gorey stuff, i like to just get it all out in a first draft, then go back and do some "realism checks" (this might not be smth you want at all and thats okay :) ). not medical accuracy or anything, but i like to go back and think okay, this character is getting their eyes plucked out, would they really be snarky during the process? maybe not! lets take that out. gore is smth that is usually rly far removed from your life/experiences, so it takes effort to write it in a way that feels authentic.

in any case, just have fun and remember fantasy gore hurts no one :)

ok but like. insane about the parallels between sonic and chris and shadow and maria im INSANE about it.

now, shadow and sonic, they're usually foils and parallel each other to an extent but the contrast is always the main thing here, not the similarities, yeah?

but in sonic x it's different, obviously theyre still foils but.. they also come across like mirrors of each other. shadow says it succinctly

"it's like looking in a mirror."

but in order to understand the similarities between sonic and shadow we have to understand the similarities between chris and maria so im going to lay out the similarities and how they're also mirrors of each other.

first of all, in a pretty superficial comparison they look very similar and are the same age (well. chris does get older in series 2 but in series 1 both him and maria are twelve.), and they. pretty much have the exact same face, with the exact same eye color.

they have literally the same face and that's obviously intentional.

no moving forward, they're just.. really similar in general.

both come from families where somehow intelligence is passed on (examples: gerald and eggman, chuck and chris), have absent parents (though it's differs, Maria's parents never being around is literally never elaborated on to my knowledge and chris's parents are just very shitty and extremely neglectful), have a grandpa who's a scientist etcera.

its INSANE to me how intentionally similar maria and chris are because it's never really payed off in any way. and i doubt this all was just to make chris's moment of convincing shadow to NOT destroy earth more poignant. even molly, who only shows up once has less similarities to maria, who arguably SHOULD be the one with the heavy parallels considering that even with her heavily influencing shadow, only appears in one episode and thus would probably be the one whod be more likely to get more heavy parallels. (also im still mad molly doesn't get much to do except die. she deserved better i think.)

another similarity between them is their relationships with sonic and shadow, both sharing a sibling dynamic with them.

but anyways back to sonic and shadow.

first of all, the fact they look extremely similar according to everyone, which IS a staple but im still going to talk about it.

now it's hard to tell EXACTLY how similar shadow and sonic are meant to look because of how all the mobians (yes, ill be using the term mobian here. there isn't a better term currently so that's the term ill be using) look kind of samey but i think that if we look at how people in universe describe them looking alike we can probably figure it out.

here's what shadow himself says meeting sonic

"I see. We actually do look alike."

"It's like looking in a mirror."

now, i doubt you'd say that if you just happened to look pretty similar, like how siblings look similar, that's like. EXTREMELY similar. and they didn't HAVE to use that phrase but they did so i think we can successfully say that in terms of how alike sonic and shadow look in sonic x, id say they're like identical strangers.

so now onto the other ways they're similar!

first of all, their powersets are very similar. i don't have much to say on this but another thing to note is that in sonic x, being able to use the chaos emeralds is explicitly a power unique to them rather than something ANYONE can do with the chaos emeralds, which i definitely find interesting since from my memory, sonics ability to use the chaos emeralds is the whole reason cosmo sought him in the first place.

but now onto their similarities in terms of personality.

they're both loners, that much is definitely true. sonic spends a LOT of time alone rather than with other people, often literally refusing to hang out with people and shadow, is well. shadow. he doesn't like talking to people and has barely any friends even after the shadow saga.

yet they so deeply care about those who ARE close to them. for shadow this is obviously exemplified with maria being literally willing to destroy the world just because revenge was what he thought to be her dying wish and for sonic, while there are many examples throughout the series ill just stick to just one that's pretty relevant to the conversation.

sonic with chris in episodes 51-52.

these episodes are great for a lot of reasons but we're going to focus on how much sonic clearly cares about chris in these episodes. staying with him the whole time, and being willing to stay with him despite the fact that it would literally freeze time and all of his friends were in his world.

chris and sonic mean a lot to me but that's not what this post is about

anyways tldr the parallels between shadow and maria and sonic and chris make me fucking insane and i wish they elaborated on this more.

OH almost entierly. I thought the exact same thing when figuring out the rough ideas. Peach says it doesn't count, its top of the head, ears and hairstyles are cheating. The two argue over this a lot.

other dumb mechanics I thought while making:

Breaking in somewhere? Peach just smashes the locks, while Plum tries to pick it or find a quieter way in.

Tall thing in the way, like a big wall? Throw plum over, she can stick the landing most of the time, use claws to basically puncture concrete and clamber up after, or parkour over. The image of yeeting the bunny is too good, especially when she doesnt expect it.

The longing Peach has to hold Plum properly but constant fear about the big talons, keeps her distance a lot because of it. Heavy handed and somewhat brutish, means she's distant from most, doesnt want to hurt anyone who doesnt deserve it.

Plums a know it all, and can charm her way into things, or blag being where she shoudln't, pretending to be lost, ect. People believe her, she looks innocent enough. Uses her bunny charm to get what, where and who she wants.

predator-prey relationship being a fun dynamic. Peach flat out expressing that she will just eat Plum one day in a very literal way, because shes annoied her so much, plum then immediatly holding her to that in the more flirty sense. Peach being shocked and surprised by the response.

Honey Badgers eat and fight just about anything, even if theyre 10X bigger than them, and they usually come out a winner. Where as bunns run more often than not. The contrast of their fight and flight responses is peak.

i dont mind the question at all!! ill give u some tips on how i draw!!

BTW! these are just some tips ab what i do to draw the way i do, this is not an universal rule let alone mandatory!!

NOW ONTO THE STUFF U CAME FOR! under a read more so i dont clog ur dash bc i got kinda tecnical w some of it..! IT GOT WAY TOO LONG IM SORRY!!!

lets start with color then!! 🎨

i always see ppl saying that color theory is rlly hard and they never understand it, and tbh u dont need to learn it in depth at all!!

to make colors look good you need to think them as a group instead of choosing them individually...

though what i do is different, theres a post going around that says tinting all the colors w one brings the drawing together, and it does!! its a p good tip if u dont want to eyeball it like i do!!

but heres my process; lets say u have a sketch and an idea of what colors you want; your character is in a forest walking through the trees! what i do is choose background color and start from there

if you chose a cool color, when you start painting the rest of the picture drag the hue a little closer to blue or purple! if you chose a warm one, closer to yellow or red! if you want your drawing to have a greenish tint drag it closer to green or yellow! you get the gist of it, bring the colors closer! if theyre on opposite sides of the wheel it might be difficult, but usually bringing them closer to gray does a good job!!

also unless youre trying to get contrast on purpose, choosing colors w similar saturation(intensity!) helps unify the drawing!

say you want a drawing that is mostly grayish tones, make sure all your colors are desaturated (less intense, pigmented)

now say you have an existing character w a set color palette (we'll take my character elias as an example) and want to draw him in green and yellow or bright magenta and blue

i saw this explanation on a tiktok long ago but i literally cannot word it better and found it real useful

to translate the colors properly u need to think them on a scale, which ones are the darkest, lightest, and where does the rest sit?? Once you have that you can make ur own scale w the colors you want to use, and as long as the difference between the colors stay mostly the same u will be able to translate them p much to whatever!!

my drawing was done quickly so its not the best example but u get me

i think thats it for color now, but if i think of something else ill add it and tell u!!

now onto anatomy 🧍🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️

and ill be honest w u here, i have no clue how i learned anatomy, let alone how to teach u but ill try my best here!!

and tbh, learning every bone, muscle, etc is smth rlly tedious to me so i cannot assist u there bc i dont know

ALSOO references are ur best buddy, use them!! even if its not the exact pose or angle ur wanting to draw it can help u visualize what u want and tell u what goes where!!

even if its not for the pose or angle, a skeleton can help u see how the body part works!! i look at animal skeleton legs all the time to help me draw my ocs!!!

but yeah!! i think anatomy is smth that u shouldnt take very seriously bc most of what gives personality to characters is exageration!! or made up parts!!

but like, if u want to know my way of drawing smth specific u can tell me!! i have no problem showing u how i do things!!

but since i wasnt very helpful when it comes to anatomy, im taking the liberty of adding an extra bullet point to the post

composition!! 🌇🌃🌆🏙️

composition is the way you show the image, how you place things in your drawing!!

in school they make us take audio-visual production classes, which truly isnt as interesting as it sounds but they taught us some p cool photography tips that also apply to drawings!!

one of them is the rule of thirds! basically, you divide the canvas in 9 equal parts, and the places where the lines join are the places where the eyes are most drawn to!! heres an example i found on the internet

so if you place something on those spots it will get the attention, bc the brain is used to the focus being on the center so taking it out of there makes u want to look why (or at least thats the explanation they gave me!)

also, to draw even more attention to those spots u can make a visual path that leads there!! here some crude examples by yours truly

the first one traces a path up to his head, the second one all start from there outwards

they also gave us tips for cropping images though these dont rlly matter that much, but like for example it looks better if u dont crop it at the joints, and if a character is looking somewhere you should leave some space in the direction they are looking to! heres some doodles to show u what i mean

i used to have a document full of things like that for photography but i cant find it rn, if i do ill tell u!!

moving onto the final thing, this is not quite a composition thing but rather something to give characters more personality: make them interact w their enviroment!

rather than standing looking at the camera make them use, touch, see whats around them, even if u draw them in a blank space the way they take it up shows u a lot ab them

for ex, if theres a wall they can lean on it, if theres a window they can be looking through it(maybe u can see them from the outside! framing inside framing was also smth that they taught us in that class!) if theyre standing they can be fixing their sleeves, holding their hands behind their back, tucking a strand of hair behind their ear, scratching their neck, etc!

AND YEAH!! thats what i keep in thought when i draw!! i hope u find it at least a little useful or interesting ahdhjska ill admit i got a little carried away but i love drawing and these are topics that interest me

today.... i am thinking about....

bruce taking the rats from eddies apartment home bc theres no one to take care of them w eddie in arkham and he looks up absolute mountains of rat care info and gets them an absolutely MASSIVE enclosure, fucking floor to ceiling, 5-6 levels, different stairs and platforms etc to get to each level, different chew toys on every level, and theyre fat and happy and he sometimes w take one out to sit on his shoulder and nibble at his hair when he needs a Rubber Duck for a case

and maybe also he goes to visit eddie in arkham once in a while and updates him abt how the rats r doing and its just that little connection between them like hes given the rats a better life as a proxy for edward and

anyway. bruces new pet rats.

I NEED TO SAY THIS: I READ THE ASK GAME AND YOU ACTUALLY CHANGNED MY OPIION ABOUT ROLLO?? BUT LIKE CONSIDER, NOT JUST MC AND ROLLO, BUT LIKE. WHAT ABOUT ROLLO AND RUGGIE INTERACTING?? MAYBE RIDDLE??? POSSIBLY EVEN IDIA AND ORTHO??!! ITS JUST LIKE, THEYRE SO. MANY! THINGS THEY CAN DO WITH HIS CHARACTER??!!! And then about yuno: imma be honest. I dont think her murder was abortion. She never even really confirmed it. She said she THINKS her murder was abortion, but that doesn't mean its official "oh she did abortion thats her murder" unless its confirmed by the mvs. My main reason for thinking this is that certain evidence in undercover doesn't line up with the mvs. For instance, the scene of her crime on her card, the image of her standing at the top of some stairs, hell even her final black out pose with as doesn't look like abortion to me. But I digress. I feel like with yuno people do the exact same thing with malleyuu. "Oh someone said (blank) so therefore its cannon." There is such a thing as "misleading" fandom like come on😑. i'm glad i did!! it means i did my job well 🫡 and yes rollo's character has such a huge potential, it's really a shame that he's supposed to be an event-only character. i wish they could let him interact with idia more too, since.. yeah, their backstories. imagining his interactions with ortho makes me so sad too.. again, i really hope there will be a part 2, since rollo literally said that they will meet again very soon and also i just have no idea what else they could do for this year's halloween event (since masquerade kinda was a halloween event) and also [2] this event was so successful, like if i was a twst dev i would be writing like multiple sequels already JSKDKLSLDLSD.

and yeah, i kinda say that yuno's crime was most likely abortion just for simplicity's sake, but her case really is weird. it's like, i understand why some people say that it makes sense for her murder to be like that (like why would she lie about it or something like milgram is supposed to make you think about what exactly do you consider murder and what you don't and i also just think they were a bit surprised to get so many fans overseas who are also all (or at least almost all) pro-choice), but the way she said it is so. like girl why do you "think" it was your murder. maybe it's just a manner of speech, like maybe she said it like that because it was supposed to show how cold she is and how she doesn't care about anything, but also i'm that person who always goes "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU "THINK"" in cases like that 😭 (it's so funny to imagine yuno say "yeah i think my murder was abortion" and then there's a flashback of her throwing her newborn child down the stairs) but yes what's the deal with those stairs. why is there so many of them. why do they get shown all the time. it's actually wild that tear drop didn't have them. tbh, yuno's case feels weird to me no matter what they decide to do with it. it's like, if it really is abortion, uh.. yay? congrats on three inno verdicts, queen? like idk it really does feel a bit underwhelming. maybe that's just me though.

and if they go "no actually it was something else" her t2 vd will look even more weird. like girl why would you have to lie. or like, did you actually forget about your crime because that's how much you didn't care about it?? i guess she could lie because maybe she thought that abortion will make her look more guilty or something, but if that's the case, HER BEING VOTED INNOCENT RIGHT AFTER THAT SOUNDS SO FUNNY. i saw many theories about her murder being not exactly abortion, but something like her falling down the stairs (on purpose) while she was pregnant, and i guess it does sound more interesting and makes more sense.

not sure why people who know nothing about animation try to dunk on rotoscoping

#its still animation....like you do understand that rotoscoping literally just makes it easier to plot complex movements #it doesnt 'take anything away' from the 'integrity' of the animation #its the same as tracing over a reference image for the building blocks of a pose #wait until i tell you how literally animation wouldnt fucking exist like it did now if rotoscoping hadnt been invented.#they used to use it for walk cycles #because they couldnt just take a video and break it into frames to study #so like. there would not be advancements in the way there is now if they hadnt rotoscoped #i can point you to the exact fucking . koko the clown short im thinking of #its literally just a walk cycle at the start thats rotoscoped. it wouldnt look anywhere near as good if it wasnt #like its not fucking. cheating or anything at all #its the same damn thing as mocap and nobody shits on that #idk i fucking hate people who dont know anything about animation having opinions on it bc theyre always bad #soda.txt
