Hellooo :D!! I just wanted to ask if you have any tips for coming up with ideas for full pieces. It could totally just be “oh this seems cool/cute” and then just testing compositions/colours/etc on the spot (and I’d be happy with tips about that too), but I was curious if there’s any brainstorming you do when/if ideas don’t just pop up in your head (or you do have a very loose idea, but need a bit more planning before actually starting the piece)
Also I obviously need to mention that I ADORE your art!! Your most recent piece with angel Crowley had me in AWE (I’m pretty sure my jaw actually dropped).

It's a mix of both "oh my god I have this great idea I gotta draw it NOW" and "let's scroll through pinterest for 2 hours and hope that something inspires me".
For example this piece under the rain was an idea I had while taking a nap. I didn't have any proper references for it and just put a bunch of puzzle pieces together and hoped for the best, haha.
I usually have this one specific idea that I wanna turn into an illustration and then I spend hours searching for references that make the process a little easier. This was my reference sheet for it:
Most of the time I just go through my Pinterest poses board and see if there's something I'd like to draw, though. I save a lot of poses I like constantly that I can go back to later on. This was the case with the angels illustration I did!
I didn't have anything super specific planned for it when I started working on it. I actually planned for it to just be some small and quick little drawing. It somehow turned into the best thing I've ever made djhdhd

With most of my work I don't really do a lot of planning. I do that enough in my school assignment already, so I tend to just draw loosely when it comes to personal work, haha.
So the tip I'd give you is to get as many references as you possibly can! It makes your life so much easier. Also look for color palettes you enjoy, see how other artists use colors! And be willing to just experiment. Most of my art is just one experiment after another in hopes that one day I know what I'm doing.

He love love LOVES your curls, he loves how bouncy they are! He doesn't care what feel or texture hair you have he loves it
Loves patting your head, too
He also gives you a bunch of cute accessories to put in your hair if you're interested; bows, clips, ribbons, stuff like that! Loads of them!
Sometimes coils a curl around his finger before letting it go so he can watch it go back into place before doing it again
Hes generally fairly oblivious when it comes to picking up on when you're sad so your hair going flat is a good and obvious indicator for him to go off of
If you're sitting down, hes going to sit with you
He might ask you what's wrong, or he might get up close to your face to the point where his cone nose is nearly poking your cheek.. or both..
He really puts the whole... clown thing out there as he attempts to try to cheer you up
The good news is that its fairly hard to ignore an 8 foot tall hyperactive clown-

Hes actually curious, that's not the kind of thing you see often- even more curious when he discovers it reflects your mood
In a way he kind of relates it to his colors- I have a hc somewhere that he occasionally regains some of his color when experiencing a deep emotion, where it just flashes.. he kind of thinks it's cool that you can do that

i talked about this on Twitter a bit yesterday but it's so fucking stupid. like it's kinda cute that Bloomburrow has the kingdom hearts lion king world "if you go here you're an animal while you're here" thing, but also the only thing we were really told about Bloomburrow leading up to it was "there will be no humans on the plane".
so we're all like oh shit, cool, sounds like it's gonna be its own unique thing without a bunch of Dudes You Know in it since there's no humans in it, right? we can finally escape the cycle of banal, tropey sets that are mostly just "Characters From Magic's History Dress Up In Costumes" (MKM, Cowpokez, NEO, Capenna)
but nope. of course not. if you planeswalk/omenpath to bloomburrow, you turn into a furry! now watch them sell secret lair packs of fur-tfed planeswalkers, because of course every set needs to be a vehicle for a bunch of stupid gimmicky Products™️ they can sell to gamers with extremely loose wallets
oh, yeah, and alongside this announcement was that they're cutting off printing of portuguese cards. it's not the Biggest deal since I've heard firsthand in non-English speaking countries that they usually just end up using the English cards anyways (gee I wonder if this has anything to do with the globalization of American culture lol no problems there). but they only decided to cut off the printing of portuguese (and simplified chinese) cards because they're facing a 2% drop in profits this year... because of all the stupid royalty fees they're paying on their dumbass Universes Beyond crossover bullshit lol
i've loved Magic since i started playing in high school, but as of late that love has been waning a good bit. the game is so bogged down by corporate product shilling bullshit. every card needs 900 alternate arts. 900 alternate borders. every set needs a hideous alternate card treatment. every set needs 56 different kinds of booster packs. no more Block-format releases, no more core sets, just products, products, products, products.
i used to be a big fan of Commander/EDH, but ever since it really caught on and Wizards/Hasbro decided "well, this is the most popular gamemode, we now need to design the entire game around it" and it kinda completely ruined commander imo. what was once a gamemode about running weird, niche interactions and building something with a unique flavor or playstyle now boils down to "well, just pick one of the 92849634796782435678 legendary creatures they've been printing for the past few years and run all these extremely pushed commander staples they keep printing" and it just ain't fun anymore. gotta sit down at the table and look at entire Doctor Who decks and Transformers cards and Tomb Raider cards and etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. Commander tables are just fucking billboards now lmao
it's very clear WOTC/Hasbro has no idea what to do now that they did the Giant Multiverse-Ending Threat of the Phyrexians in All Will Be One. much like the marvel movie franchise which MTG has been so emulating for years now (AND HAS EVEN SIGNED A FUCKING CROSSOVER DEAL WITH AS OF LAST YEAR, SEE YOU IN 2025 THANOS COMMANDER DECK), we're at the period where they're just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks, twiddling their thumbs with these boring, tropey sets, all the while drowning players in a deluge of alternate arts, secret lairs, crossovers, etc. a common complaint among magic's playerbase is that nowadays they're literally selling too much shit. preview/teasers season for one set will immediately be followed by previews and teasers for another set. there's no time for anything to breathe it's just buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy.

Hmm..I suppose I haven't given Simon a lot of scars (just the main ones on his forehead/cheek/lip and a few fainter ones around the face) There are vague ideas on how he got these, mostly combat-related....
I've seen a bunch of people draw him with a Glasgow smile and it definitely looks cool! I just don't personally draw him with it because...well, honestly, I can't imagine him receiving that type of injury. Turbo trauma terrible taco tuesday backstory aside, I think it would be a bit...too much for him to have his face obliterated like that, lol (not that I even adhere to the comics 😔✋)
I guess I just prefer him with more subtle facial wounds 🤷♀️ Gotta maintain that anglo-saxon bone structure 💅

Im lonely how do you meet trans people irl
okay so i cheat at making friends by being tumblr niche popular and having a cooler-than-me-therapy-dog-girlfriend who helps me in social situations and an active local trans bar populated with weird tumblrinas
but if i didnt have that, the first thing is to find a local scene. im an greymuzzle furry, age player, and i go to concerts so cons and kink events are always places i can meet trans critters at
also a lot of the local transes ive met ive seen at pride events and at local trans inclusive events
and if you got one a local gay bar is a good place to check
other cool girls would recommend grindr or sussing out raves or basement shows or finding the cruising circuit but im not that cool yet
it also seems like u gotta meet some trans a bunch of times before u stick out in their heads so dont worry if you nail first impressions and dont let RSD kick ur ass
also start a drug if you can, kill ur ego a bit if you can, take up an art if you can, unmask a bit if you can, and learn to elope if youre not having fun

i do think its quite misogynistic
and also recently something i noticed is the influx of drag queens who are beginning to identify as trans women and are crediting and citing their drag as the thing which made them realize theyre a woman

god i feel u so much on the not being able to use fancy detail brushes thing, i also use a textured brush (idk abt you but it stops me from obsessing over the lines being 100% Absolutely Perfectly Neat & Even) and i cry every time i see a cool brush that would just look totally out of place in comparison lmao. i keep telling myself someday ill make a whole bunch of custom ones that match my main brush... someday.....
I REALLY THINK THAT'S JUST WHAT WE GOTTA DO.... i do feel like by slowly playing w other ppl's custom brushes (i have to really recommend @robogart, @inspiderwiht and @pharanbrush as artists who create custom brush packs that i REALLY love!), i'm starting to understand very gradually what all the different settings and tweaks and adjustments do, which helps a lot + does make me feel like eventually i can work my way up to tackling my own...!
when i first started out the brush settings panel was SO overwhelming, so it felt like any time i downloaded a brush it was like. either i like it or i don't, and one tiny gripe abt it could ruin my experience w a brush that could otherwise be super useful and fun for me!! bc i didn't really feel capable of really getting into the guts of it and fucking around (also esp when u are on deadlines and stuff it's like. bro i cannot afford to Find Out rn and also i simply do not have time to spend an hour trying to figure out if i can make the pressure curve on this thing play nice w me). BUT giving myself a little bit of time whenever i'm doing personal doodling or warmups or w/e to experiment and mess around has been really really good for making me feel like i can take more control over the tools :D
I GUESS i am rambling majorly and a lot of this has nothing to do w the actual point of ur ask (esp the kind of. stamp brushes or fully drawn stuff like clothing trim/buttons/etc where it really IS like okay either it can blend w ur art style or it can't) BUT my point is just. grips ur arm in solidarity. by fucking around a tiny bit each day. one day we will understand digital brush composition + function enough to make our own. and then it's over for all of you bitches
#also expanding on my recs:#robogart's stuff is GREAT for painting + adding texture#also a lot of stuff that's fun as stamps. many brushes w color jitter that make flatting/blocking in paintings more interesting#inspiderwiht has a wide variety of stuff but a lot of it is like. what i call 'shortcut' brushes for stuff like patterns + foliage#but done in a way that's far less crisp/clean/'perfect' than a lot of similar brushes + i therefore find them way easier to-#-work into different styles + applications#and pharanbrush does EXCELLENT traditional/analog media imitation brushes#i've spent a lot more time w the pencil brushes than any of the painting stuff from the pharan sets but it's all very good
