While I do believe some of the criticism LO receives in terms of story are understandable because there's some things that could be better in the story I also cant help but notice that other things talked abour when regarding LO are more personal opinions and just consist on spewing pure hate from people who only focus on some minor details or downright has nothing better to do than shit on the comic, its characters or creator.

1. Persephone isn't a Mary Sue, sure she's kind, friendly and always wants to do the right thing but she still has flaws and makes mistakes like her driving without a liscence, giving money to the shades, keeping secrets, her acting violent even if she has reason to (cough Asspollo cough) or smirking at Ares getting his ass wrecked by her mom. People still scold her for some of the things she does but not as harshly because she isn't a reckless teen but an adult. All the main characters in the story are adults so they are gonna act like it, not like hormonal teens . Plus regarding her trial, Persephone knows she deserves to face the consequences for what she did but she was afraid of the Trial cause it wasn't done with intention to seek righteous justice but to show people that Zeus was the leader of Olympus. The main difference between Kore and Minthe is that while both are insecure about themselves, Persephone doesn't take it out on others and instead tries to improve herself whereas Minthe likes to cause damage to others; she literally likes talking shit of people, endagered Persephone by sending her to Tartarus just so she couldn't see Hades and put Demeter on danger too with the Trial,not just Persephone. And no, the comic didn't do her dirty as she got and took a chance for self improvement and cut off her toxic friend for good.

2. Hades may be rich but he's no Christian Grey. Sure he likes Persephone but he respect her boundaries and treats her like a person and not a possesion like Asspollo, he literally said that he wasn't entitled to her in the 1st season. Sure he's not a perfect saint but he's not a monster either, he didn't fire Minthe or took away her apartment even if he could have after she physically and verbally abused him at work using one of his deepest fears and he did apologize to Thanatos for his treatment of him.

3. Thanatos, Minthe and Zeus aint assholes just for not liking Persephone x Hades, the story doesn't treat them as a monsters for dislikng Persephone but are still shown to be dicks due to how they treated her and Hades as well as others. Minthe greatly disliked Persephone out of jelaousy to the point of endagering her by sending her to Tower 4, liked to rub in her face that Hades was hers uncaring if Hades didn't like it and she tried to get her on Trial by painting her as a villain in the story they told Zeus which affected not only Kore but Demeter as well and also abused Hades. But they still have her a chance to redeem herself and bettering herself as we saw in s3 and she's doing much better now.

Thanatos outright didn't like Persephone, the 1st time they met was when he shoved her with his wings to take the train but even then Kore didn't treat him badly, she even shared her baklaba with him. And what does he do later? Basically insulting her in front of Hecate calling her a moron. While he may be right about Hades maybe being in the wrong for letting her work in the library as she's shown to struggle with stuff on her 1st day that didn't mean he had the right to wotk with Minthe and Thetis to ruin Persephone's life just out of jelaousy and wanting the love of Minthe. He maybe regretted his actions but it doesn't erase them. At the very least hes doing better now with a better partner than Minthe.

Zeus's Trial was wring because he didn't seek justice but to show everyone hes the boss of Olympus even if it meant delivering barbaric and undeserved punishments. He was a dick to Persephone in her Trial alongside her mom, going so far as gaslighting Demeter when she brought up his mistreatments of her. He had reasons to do what he did and we can understand it but he still unnecesarily prolonged Persephone's banishment even if she did everything that was asked of her right which wasn't only affecting her or hades but everyone as well cause they couldn't visit their loved ones and the situation in Olympus wasn't great not only that but tried to get Hades to forget about Persephone with Euridice. But at the very least when Kore saved everyone from Kronos, Zeus lifted her punishment and allowed Hades and Persephone to get married.

4. Demeter isn't a great mom but shes not a cruel monster, she was just lonely and wanted some company so she gave birth to Kore. And despite her shortcomings as a mother, she loves her daughter but deep down wants her to be safe as she knows how cruel the world can be. Of course this doesn't excuse her treatment towards Kore but as weve seen theyre trying to work things out between Kore and Demeter so there's hope for them

If you ask me, most of the "LO Critical" crowd's criticism towards the Webtoon consists of them hating the source material for not playing out how they want/ed it to, going on non-stop about Persehade's age gap romance and calling a relationship between two consenting adults "pedophilia" (the haters sure love to infantilize Persephone), and bashing the author as a person over fiction.

5 Anti LO Asks

(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. The idea of feminism is to have equal rights and opportunities for women so they don't have to rely on survival prostituition with a manlet or public prostituition, not to praise every choice a woman makes as brave and stunning that's just baseless.

2. Okay.. I'm still really confused over the time skip.. it was done so shitty. There was no point to it? At all! You skipped over all the highly emotional scenes? You skipped minthe getting turn back, you skipped all of the grieving by the characters. For a story that likes to be dragged out why wasn't this milked for the angst?

Vague spoilers for hnk. Like if you want to read a story that has good time skips read land of the lustrous manga. A bunch of time is skipped throughout the story but it's only done when the main character isn't really 'alive' and the time skips are suppose to add to the Mc foggy memory of events and the past. Plus the added shock and confusion at an old friend being missing. Yes it helps speed up some side characters arks but it does the most to the main Mc but either making them feel lost and confused or angry and violent. These character are even brightly coloured and immortal and they deal with that far better then lo ever did.

Lo just doesn't use its writing and premise well, and every part of its art and story could have been done better by someone else.

3. saying "well he HAD to enslave them or else theyd go to tartarus" (which isnt even a thing in comic but rather "various levels of purgatory which is a christian thing?  the underworld isnt hell? but why expect rachel "better than homer" smythe to know this basic difference) is absolutely insane. would these same people in the slave era american south tell the slaves in the fields 'be happy youre out here! you could be tortured/r*ped during this time instead!" like  are you people stupid???

4. "he has to use shades as slaves, what else would hades do with them?" uh, i dont know, how about what he did in mythology aka just letting them live their afterlives in asphodel? where is the idea he HAS to make them slaves ever justified or even make sense? rachel, in her mission to "redeem" hades from those who made the underworld hell and hades out to be the devil ended up making the underworld worse than hell and hades worse than the devil. it's honestly impressive how bad she is at this.

5. ya know considering Hades dropped the "I have slavery under a different name" thing on Persephone to see if she was paying attention to his every word, he cut her off with a weird kiss to stop her from calling out the slavery, and her "grand plan" for the Underworld is to cease some of the slavery for the "good ones" which he complained "wheres the punishment in it?" I have to say, it's like Rachel KNOWS it's bad but has no remorse or care to fix it? Like lady be more white, jesus christ.

Also I kind of.. find her constant rambling of hating hades to be annoying?? I mean I understand Zeus cuz fuck him.

I guess Poseidon? We haven't really seen him act like a asshole yet and I love this version of him and would cry if he did act out -

Anyway , We know Hermes is our friend. And he's low-key Simp for Persephone and it hurts my heart that he's gonna get friendzoned at some point. Also he knows what Persephone did and that's why he got paid off by demeter. Interesting.

We can assume Persephone got beyond pissed off and straight up killed someone and Hermes saw and that could explain the name change.

Anywho - Who else... Thanatos is redeemable.

He just has to catch on that thetis and Minthe are dead ends and he does NOT wanna get fucked up by any of the other God's.

I think he'll find out the hard way tho..so sad.

And in Minthe , at this point with the way things are going I'm pretty damn sure she's getting crushed into a nice Mint plant.

I would have liked to see her become friends with Persephone and try to be a better person , heck maybe even give Thanatos the simp a chance but no that's not the format clearly.

4 Anti LO Asks

1. You know, if you apply to be a webtoons editor they put on the application you have to be ready to sometimes write episodes if the creator can't do it. it only makes me wonder, esp give how rachel constantly complains about how hard writing is and how bad her writing choices are, that the few times there are good character interactions or eps that it's just the editor's work being shown as rachel's own. tbh that's why i figure we even got minthe episodes, it was probably the editor's doing.

2. I honestly don’t understand Persephones and Hades relationship in LO at all.. she doesn’t mind being flirty with him when others are around, even flirting with him around Hera and Zeus and in the workplace (even in private at his office) and dancing with him in front of her friends, yet in some panels she acts so awkward around him. In the latest fast pass episode she just finger guns at him? And says bye? In some other episodes she just acts awkward and weird around him.. I honestly don’t understand... and the thing about their flirting is that it’s not the lustful and sexual one but a more intimate one? Idk if this makes sense but in my eyes they flirt more like a couple who is intimate and comfortable with each other rather than two people who just want to have sex with each other so they flirt to get each other horny.. and since they have a more intimate flirting theme going on why would they be so awkward around each other? The awkwardness could be justified by saying that they’ve only known each other for 2 weeks but then again that would mean that they wouldn’t flirt and be comfortable with each other like they are.

3. at the very least persephone not liking minthe makes sense, since she was just in a relationship with hades and they have reason to fight over him, but hera? didnt their affair end before persephone was even born? and hera is already married too? why would she care? you dont go through every partner's past romantic life and obsess over it when it holds no relevancy, that's not healthy. this is such unneeded drama when they should be getting together and forming a relationship by now, not this.

4. Just going off the trends of how women are treated in LO, I 100% expect it to be revealed Demeter was also r*ped, probably by Iasion to be a ~myth reference~, to explain why Demeter hates all men, doesn't like sex/had to create her daughter from clay/forced her to be a virgin, and why she's so overbearing to her daughter and as a two-for-one to "redeem" her so Persephone isn't stuck in an abusive home for half the year. Mark my words, it's going to happen, or i'll eat my shoe.
