Who is your favorit Character out of Gofushi? Megumi or Gojo?
Hmm what a hard question, Anon-san;; Can I say I like both equally-
This post contains Shibuya spoilers.
There is a draft somewhere about why I appreciate Megumi and especially the title of his character theme "Jujutsu Sorcerer, Megumi Fushiguro".
I really like series that have morally grey characters because it's realistic. It is more interesting to read and analyze. Megumi knows that his sense of justice may not be "right", but he doesn't care about that. And I mean, what can be truly right? It's a matter of perspective in the end.
To have such conviction on his own judgement requires resolve. Because, what if the person you saved is actually bad? Megumi probably has a keen perception of people. It might be interesting to see if the manga touches more upon this topic (the whole Yuuji-Megumi angst on saving someone who will kill others in the future). But it's been done already, kinda? Anyway, someone that has a good grasp on the evil of people should also be able to see the good by contrast (this is my own belief tho... sort of like how "those that are the kindest have suffered a lot" works).
When Gojou tells Megumi that he won't measure up to even Nanami, that was like damn. Because Nanami once mentioned that when the effort you're putting is sufficient, there's no reason to go beyond it. I'm not saying that's wrong, it just reminded me of Megumi at the school festival who said something among the lines of: "As long as we don't get beaten up too bad." or "As long as we don't lose too bad."
This is a negative statement if you translate it as "he won't put a lot of effort" which contrasts with Nanami who will do more when needed against Megumi who when forced might just Mahoraga lul
Maybe this isn't the right example to use;; but anyway, when he decides to break free from that mentality of not giving his all, he is able to use his domain expansion. A technique that brings forth a sorcerer's innate domain into being. I think that this innate domain requires that the sorcerer has a meaning of self since it's sort of like showing your mind in the real world. This action demands the sorcerer to have a defined sense of existence, a formalized ego (?). And that's how he became a proper (?) sorcerer. Yer a jujutsushi, Megumi.
That last paragraph was probably confusing.
He discarded his old mentality and became stronger. Changing one's ego is hard after all.
Hmm, it still feels like I'm scratching the surface. Megumi post-Shibuya and in the culling games was a highlight to me. I won't go further into this since it spoils more;; But I was cheering after Megumi when he went into badass mode ;-; that character growth.
It's ironic because he became a sorcerer for another person, and even though it wasn't out of his own volition, his character theme's title recognizes that he is a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
He is also the smart type uwu and I like how he asks questions because he just wants to confirm his own thoughts instead of being nosy (as explained by Gege in the fanbook about the chapter "A taste of things to come"). That's right, let's go in the pursuit of truth!
Have I mentioned how I approve of his rule of interaction with strangers too? It's basic decency @_@
Uhm, yeah most likely there is stuff that I haven't gone into about Megumi, but I also mentioned that I like both equally;; Even though I haven't written a Gojou appreciation draft (yet?!) so I don't have a lot of references for it. Because of that, the next section might be all over the place OTL
I have a very soft spot for those that act dumb/happy but have gone through awful stuff in the past. They've been hurt but prefer to act as if they're okay to others.
WHEN IT IS NOT. LIKE, HECK, GOJOU, YOU JUST KILLED YOUR BEST FRIEND AND YOU ACT ALL CHEERY/NORMAL IN FRONT OF YOUR STUDENTS. Bruh.
Putting up those walls to protect themselves, trying to not look weak/showing their true self in front of others. A misdirection to throw off people from what they are actually going through. Even though he is talkative, it's hard to get to know what he really thinks.
And he also had to check up on his students after the fight o_o his priorities.
He (most likely?) didn't have a good upbringing, what with being the 6E+L user after 400 years and solo carrying the Gojou clan on his back. Then he acknowledges that curse exorcism is not something that kids should go through and wishes for them to enjoy their youth (gee I wonder why). Remember how he changed the last event of the school festival to baseball? even though my shounen-loving ass wanted to see 1v1 tourn- reject jujutsushi, embrace a normal sport.
Overworked and... what hobbies? Gojou can be the best at anything he attempts, but he doesn't try so that others get an opportunity. Yeah, yeah, bragging hah, but if that's true then idk man, Gojou would not be living life, he is just existing ._. at least there are sweets and he can sightsee during work B)
Moreover, being good at anything he tries is kinda dooming.
The way he wants to change Jujutsu Society is also well thought out when compared with other propositions. I can't come up with elaborate essays so here is an interesting one. You can scroll to the last two paragraphs if it's long xd
Anyway, wanting to protect Riko's decision by fulfilling her own personal wish, the differentiation (or not) of being the strongest and Gojou Satoru (notlikethis Getou), his inability to save people despite being the strongest...
Yeah, it's kind of "funny" because his decisions lead to bad outcomes. Even though he did them because he is human after all. If they just brought Riko straight to Tengen then it (Tengen) wouldn't be going through digievolution, and maybe Kenjaku's plans would be different. But they didn't, he didn't want to, because he empathized with her.
He got sealed because he did appreciate the time when he was friends with Getou (and still considered him his friend after his defection).
Sometimes I enjoy the narratives where they characterize Gojou as someone that is akin to a god or that he isn't human, but I honestly think he is just a very weird and cringe human hahaha that's what being the 6E+L user does to a person. You grow up with high expectations placed by others. An adult that acts like a kid at 28 because he didn't have a childhood, and also, life is boring and tiresome so gotta do something fun every now and then.
Ugh the Gojou section is hard to follow >_< Anon-san, I rambled a lot, it's kinda all over the place haha;; and I didn't even answer who I like more which is strange because in other ships I have a favourite.
I like Megumi for his realistic views as a character (although he's too mature for a 15 yo) and even though he is all grumpy he truly cares about others (his gap is too good, I'm all for gaps), and I like Gojou because he is a complicated character. In the end, gofushi is truly a pair for me...
Ah gofushi >w< Megumi acts old for his age and Gojou acts young for his age, because of the way they grew up LOL (prob shouldn't be laughing about bad childhoods o_o)
All of this is based on my own thoughts so others with different views on the characters can disagree with what I wrote.
Thank you very much for the ask, Anon-san! The answer it's.. uuh kinda long I think;; Now I wonder which character people like out of gofushi? I'm quite interested in the why's owo

You know. I know Naruto is actually a knucklehead, and Kiba isn't like a straight A+ student or whatever, but it's not always that they're idiots compared to Shino. Sometimes Shino is just unintentionally misleading. He's so logical and fluid in his speech that he can understand language from multiple angles. Kiba and especially Naruto are the kind of peeps that honestly coast on familiar bits of behavior and social cues to fill in otherwise vague statements or pauses in communication and that makes their wits not as sharp.
The thing is, Shino never coasts in his conversations. He's 100% present every single interaction he has. Because of this, Shino is the kind of person you have to be fully alert with and present for and tbh Kiba and especially Naruto just don't seem like the types that can manage that comfortably in an otherwise casual setting. They also probably just don't want to.
Like... this, for example:
"I have two coins in my pocket that equal thirty cents (30¢) together. And one of them isn't a nickel."
... This isn't Shino trying to trick you, this is Shino trying to help/stating a fact, but also making you mentally double take and question your intelligence and I think it's both hilarious but also just kinda sad because he can't see why it's misleading. It just makes sense.
Meanwhile, Kiba probably gets it after a couple of moments of confusion and gets on Shino's case because his "helpful wording" simply isn't the... intuitive? Socially acceptable??? Way of wording a potentially helpful sentence. It's just not how most people would actually go about it.
And Naruto's brain breaks because how the fuck else do you make 30¢ with only 2 COINS!? Naruto is smart enough to know that between a penny (1¢), nickel (5¢), dime (10¢), and quarter (25¢), a quarter and a nickel together would make 30¢. What Naruto doesn't get right away is that just because one coin isn't a nickel doesn't mean that there isn't a nickel at all. But someone used to or dependent on common speech patterns to stay on autopilot can't smoothly process the situation/statement w/o engaging common sense. And unfortunately it's not always so common. Also, most people just don't want to actively think when they're relaxing, and that includes relaxing with friends.
Shino's so big brain, he just decides on a non malevolent whim to make the Quarter the focus of the sentence in relation to the Nickel instead of just simply focusing on the Nickel ("One coin is a nickel") and letting Kiba and Naruto infer the second coin MUST be a Quarter.
He's not trying to be complicated, he's just subconsciously making choices that others don't even get to make because they are just not engaging as much as he is. But this also causes his speech to be deemed as difficult to understand. It's not missing anything and he's not purposefully being difficult or equivocal. He just doesn't actively choose to have a typical speech pattern. He just passively speaks with a greater amount of patterns to pull from, all correct, and so he doesn't feel the need to actively adjust because logically, he shouldn't have to. And he's right! Logically.
Like, I kinda get why it's a bit frustrating, but at the end of the day Shino is just a little different and Kiba but especially Naruto could at least try to get on his level, tho Shino himself would never actually tell them to. Because even though he can be mean, he's naturally a nice dude, maybe too nice when I really think about it. But at the same time, Shino is just being himself, and being asked to "dumb it down some" or "stop speaking in riddles" is probably just as annoying for him, if not more so. Firstly because it's not necessary, secondly it's not his fault other people are too comfortable with a "normal" (read limited) way of things, and thirdly, but most importantly, it's always him that's asked to change and even straight up considered a problem!! Unjustly! And that's really messed up and rude and upsetting. Shino is smarter than most of his cohorts, but his pattern of speech isn't him being a pompous asshole as a result of that. And Shino probably knows that's what people think too, and it feels bad because Shino knows he's smart but then again it's not like he's that smart and he may or may not go down a self-deprecating train of thought because damn it...!!
That's what Kiba but especially Naruto fail to understand. Maybe Kiba gets it sooner than not as his teammate and also 'cause he's actually not a total dumb ass, but Naruto is irritatingly stubborn in his own way, I wanna chuck him out a window sometimes he's so simple. And its horrible because Kiba and Naruto DO like Shino. Kiba thinks Shino is fucking cool and Naruto has this weird hot/cold admiration for him but all things considered, Shino is awesome.
It just sucks that they actually do consider all the things. A judgement based on baseless criteria, opinions skewed by socially accepted ideas. And I think Shino deserves at least one friend that doesn't fucking pull that shit. It's probably Lee. But Shino+Lee hangouts when !?
Anyway thanks to coming to another one of my Shino Aburame Ted Talks lmao

Hey, this may sound like a weird and loaded question but how do you make a nuanced oc, especially poc? I see your ocs and they have so much personality like they're actual people with flaws.
AH NAH ITS ALL GOOD THATS V SWEET OF U… this is a very interesting question that I’d love to get into! This will be speaking more from a character design and writing perspective than history and culture, cuz I think it’s more applicable to ur question.
Also keep in mind that a lot of these guidelines are not strict rules, and will depend heavily on what kind of story, tone, genre you’re creating so mileage may vary:
1. Avoid touchy stereotypes- Always a good practice! This doesn’t mean “never make an Asian OC who is smart and good at math”, what it means is that your OC should be more complicated and nuanced than that. It also means that if your character fits into some kind of stereotype to some degree, avoid treating this as a “big deal.” Like, you have an asian character who happens to be good at math, so what? it’s just one trait they have among many many others!
Keep in mind, however, not all stereotypes are created equal, and there are just some stereotypes where its never gonna look good if you have ur character embody them to any degree (See: Dumb Animalistic Savage From Africa, Asia, Americas) it’s also important to consider your own background versus the character’s!
Another good practice is to have many many POC in ur story who are all different in their own unique so you don’t have The One POC Who Is Expected To Represent All POCdom, Ever (perhaps a bit rich coming from someone who makes nation personifications lmao, but I do try to mitigate it by interrogating just how monolithic nation identities really are, as well as making sub-nation personifications)
For example, let’s take the way I characterize China, even if he isn’t technically my own creation lol. Some could say that the way I characterize China as ‘manipulative and scheming’ as feeding into the “yellow peril” stereotype, where Asian cultures are seen as decadent and corrupt (and some certainly have!) But I’m careful to not reduce China to a mere yellow peril stereotype- he’s a goofy overbearing old man who has bad taste in fashion, someone who’s frighteningly perceptive and intelligent, someone who confounds the understanding of even nations, someone who is not afraid to remake the world again and again in his image, yet is peacefully resigned to many things- his schemez are just one part of him, and with the context of his childhood and long long life, it becomes an actual character trait and not just a trope slapped on top with little thought.
2. Make them funny- None of my OCs are allowed to be unfunny. Unless their lack of humor makes them funny. In which that case that’s okay. Speaking seriously, I find that making my OCs entertaining or a giving them a comedic role to play really humanizes them! Not only does it give them certain quirks and flaws, it’s also a great way for people get attached to them and their relationships and conflicts (tho, I am someone who really likes drawing character interaction, so it may not be for everyone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
3. Themes- The development of a entire country, culture, people’s, etc, is extremely complicated and multifaceted and can never be put into a clean narrative, from start to finish. But I find that giving my characters certain recurring themes in their lives (whether it be a struggle for autonomy or difficulties with humanity vs. immortality) not only more naturally crops up in the actual history, it adds a lot of dimension as well as a look into their inner minds and struggles! Even for non-Hetalia characters, it makes writing for a character’s story a lot easier if you nail down what their themes/struggles/etc are.
4. Characters are Relative- Not every character needs to be like completely different from every other character you make in this universe. You should keep in mind that your characters will most likely be interacting with a limited set of other characters, and you need to make sure they stand out from while also matching with that set, not every other character. You can also characterize them by drawing contrasts or similarities between them, based on the relationship. Developing relationships with other characters in my experience is one of the best way to expand and flesh out a character in diff contexts!
I’ve mentioned this before but I gave my Tanzania OC dreadlocks to match Kenya, while also contrasting with her, as Kenya’s hair is pulled back from her face, while Tanzania’s is draped over her eye, which are also meant to communicate Kenya’s high energy and more ambitious nature versus Tanzania’s more relaxed and mild disposition.
Wow that was super long, but I hope it helped you anon!

Oumota, but i feel like you already answered something like that for it so Kaimaki too
Lol I could rant about oumota all day but cuz I know I have I'mma keep it short!
Ship It: (obvs)
1. What made you ship it?
Chapter 5. Full stop. I loved Kaito's character from the beginning and Kokichi grew on me but seeing their team up was 😍. I didn't originally ship it in a romantic context until I looked at the fan content and saw just how well the pairing works in a platonic as well as romantic lens. Plus I love a good narrative foil/enemies to lovers dynamic and they have the best I've seen.
2. What are your fave things about the ship?
Narrative foils, the fact that they understood each other better than anyone else despite hating each other, chaotic energy, smart boi/"dumb" boi, height difference, P U R P L E. But mostly the potential the ship has for so many different relationship dynamics. They work in any AU or situation. They came together during their hardest times so it's possible that under different circumstances they'd work as well. Domestically or casually, healthy or unhealthy, whatever you want to explore with the pairing, you can, and it'll stay in character for them. They're two great characters that become amazing when played off each other. Even in a platonic context.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have for your ship?
Idk what's popular and unpopular so imma just give a couple headcanons?? Lol.
• Kokichi is a very "show my love thru actions" type of person so he doesn't always say "I love you" or other mushy stuff (except in a teasing way) so he'll get gifts or show kind gestures esp if he accidentally (or purposely) pisses Kaito off, he'll do sweet things to make it up to him.
• Everything is a competition with them. Theyd do dumb shit like "who can give the other more kisses in a day" or "who can get the other a better gift". They're pretty even with who wins, but Kokichi is a much more insufferable winner.
• Kaito would propose first, he'd make it super romantic and perfect and just how Kokichi would want it. But then a week later, Kokichi also proposes in an even grander gesture because he "needs to make sure Kaito wants to marry him just as much as he does."
Kaimaki tho... It kind of teeters on the edge for me. I love both Kaito and Maki as characters, and their friendship is sweet and romantically it's cute, like seeing art and reading fics I always find it adorable but canonically... It feels more one sided than anything. So I'm gonna say
Don't Ship It:
1. Why don't you ship it?
Maki very obviously had feelings for Kaito, she literally says so. However, I relate to Maki in the sense that I've felt unwanted and unloved and struggled to love myself. And I've had people who come along and make me feel special, almost like a replacement for that self love I needed. I think Kaito is that someone to Maki. He cared for her, and saw the good in her when others seemed not to, and as sweet and romantic as that can be, it also has potential to lead to a misunderstanding and over idealization. So from I guess a personal stand point it's one of those "oh yikes this doesn't seem ideal" situations.
2. What would have made you ship it?
Probably if Kaito showed a bit more of reciprocation, but he doesn't. Also if maybe there was a moment of Maki realizing that Kaito kind of has a lot of issues too.
3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
I think it still has potential. It's possible for them to grow and love each other in an equal way, but it requires a lot of effort on Kaito's part to bring down his walls for his friends. I think that Maki would need to also establish herself and understand who she is and what she truly wants because it's hard to tell if her feelings for him come from a genuine romantic love or if she simply loves the idea of Kaito. I just think it would end up very one sided without those things. Which, don't get me wrong, would still make for an interesting dynamic when it comes to exploring that part of their relationship.
This was tons of fun, thanks for asking!
Send me a ship and I'll tell you if I ship it or not! 😊💜

All these doctor au's have me screaming internally bc they're all so accurate! It's got me thinking how comforting jean would be to interns younger than him that make mistakes. Especially to you. 🥺🥺Imagine getting chewed out by Levi (Ik that man has no filter 💀) and you're feeling like trash, and Jean catches you looking sad. He decides to stay behind even though his shift ended ages ago (and acts like he has work to complete but he doesn't). He grabs a coffee for you and sits you down and lets you rant. And after you're finished screaming about how you're on the verge of quitting, Jean reassures you that you are capable and as he's speaking, you realise just how much he's been helping you in the past year, and how much you've fallen for him. 🥺Jean would be such a dreamy doctor it would be impossible not to fall in love. How is he is so perfect 😭😭😭
Oh Jean is the fucking best no doubt about it. He always finds a way to help you out (sometimes at his own expense, but in his eyes, it’s well worth it). He’s been in that place of doubting himself before, and he knows it sucks; he knows exactly what to say, equal parts realistic and hopeful, and it’s just the kind of encouragement you needed to hear.
During that little moment is when he realizes just how much he likes you, too. That, yeah, he thinks you’re smart and capable and nice to work with, but that his caring for you goes beyond being a good senior/co-worker. He cares about your wellbeing outside of work, and he wouldn’t mind taking care of you outside of work either. He doesn’t know how to confess tho (or even if he should because you guys do work together, after all); so all he can do is continue to be supportive, continue to get you your morning and mid-afternoon coffees, continue to reassure you that you’re doing a good job. Maybe someday he’ll get the guts to tell you how he feels.
(Okay, okay on the subject of Levi tho, he totally would chew out his residents if they fucked up or just said some dumb shit to a patient; but then he’d very passionately defend them to his own colleagues/your seniors. He’s your mentor, so he gets to tell you when to get your ass in gear, but he’ll be damned if any of these other snotty nosed white coats go around looking down on you. Not on his watch. Maybe a little... harsh to your face, but it’s only because he wants you to learn, don’t be mistaken).
