Currently playing with an AU where all of the specific clans are elementally alligned -nmj frustrated cause huaisang should be able to move mountains and open the ground his enemies walk on and instead he's growing little plants and makes swings out of vines -jiangs being water based (duh, lotus pier) but wwx was always fascinated with a different liquid (blood) so he plays around with that (later once he loses those powers he focuses on trinkets. jc gains limited electricity powers from zidian which comes from yu ziyuan's family branch -jins being energy, this pure, light, healing one, but we know how the jins are, so where jzx wants to use it to help people, his dad and others mostly hog it for themselves and decide who gets to live and who don't OvO (also wwx mockingly saying the jins have "bad energy") -wens are just fire, they thing its the baptizing kind, but it's the wrathful uncontrolled kind -lans, twin jades, one as a fresh breeze in summer, one as a cold wind on a cold night. also it could be combined with music instruments, the wind powers creating this sort of echo to make it more powerful

saw a post criticizing lore rekindled a while back, and one of the points made was "it's unfair to rachel that someone else can profit off and make money off her work"

do you profit off lore rekindled??? i don't remember if you ever said that you were monetizing lore rekindled, so i'm unsure where this piece of information came from

I literally do NOT profit off Rekindled in any way shape or form, it's a Tumblr comic that's free to read, zero subscriptions, paywalls, or ads.

I did just recently open a Patreon and apply my Twitch channel to become affiliate, but 1. my Patreon doesn't have any paid members yet , 2. my Patreon won't be offering rewards that limit the reading experience of Rekindled (it's gonna be like random doodles n junk), and 3. I haven't even streamed since I applied for Affiliate and people are watching the streams for art and lo-fi, not for any sort of exclusive reading experiences that wouldn't also be accessible on Tumblr (you just get to watch me slowly work on Rekindled while playing FF XIV LMAOO) All of these restrictions I have in place is to prevent exactly what folks assume or accuse me - profiting off Rachel's IP. At the end of the day I just wanna create an AU fanfic project, even if it's created out of disappointment for what could have been.

I *do* spend a few hundred a month though for my assistant. So I'm working on Rekindled completely at a loss, out of my own pocket. So in that regard, even if I were to monetize any part of Rekindled... it wouldn't be for my own profitable gain, I'd maybe be able to cover some of my assistant fees 🤣 (but that's just hypothetical food for thought, because as I said above, I don't want to monetize Rekindled because of the potentially legal and ethical issues in doing so. Making money is also just not why I'm making Rekindled because it's something I wanna just do for fun! Money complicates things, turns shit into a job :'0) And let's be real, in that hypothetical scenario, I don't think any money I could generate on my free to read Tumblr project would come anywhere close to threatening Rachel's bottom line 🤣

And this isn't to throw anyone under the bus but when people get suspicious of Rekindled profiting off LO, I can't help but think of the actual fans of LO selling handmade LO merch on Etsy and LO-style adoptables and other arts and crafts dedicated to their favorite comic. And I'm not gonna judge them for that, more power to 'em if people wanna buy their cool stuff (and some of it is really REALLY cool, like I wanna buy their stuff too LOL), I just think it's ironic that people separate the two because... I'm not a diehard fan? Or because Rekindled has gotten popular here. Beats me. All that "popularity" is still just a niche remake of a niche comic in a niche medium. It's not Spiderman Lotus levels of big 🤣 but I know it probably feels that big to people who are engaged with this fandom and spend a lot of time in it.

There's an opposite side of being a yes man that perpetuates similar behavior on the other side - when you come up with reasons to rag on someone just for the sake of it because you can't rationalize them NOT being the all 100% pulp of evil LMAO (and I see people do this even to Rachel and it's not fair imo, like people who use the Lolita thing as a way to accuse Rachel of being a legitimate pedophile? Like no, I don't think we should be normalizing serious accusations like that. I think she's just misinformed in a lot of ways at worst and suffering from dark romantasy porn brainrot at best LOL).

Like, as an example, I've also seen people claim stuff like I'm in the fan spaces telling people not to read LO and to read LR instead? Which like... why would I do that, LR isn't for the fans anyways and I don't gain anything by being a dick in their space 🤣 If my own readers are doing that, that's out of my hands (but respectfully don't do this please!!! there's a reason I don't use the standard LO hashtags and only stick to the anti ones!!!!) but again (and this is a big assumption so take with grains of salt) I think people just like to claim these things because they feel it's just naturally the right thing to do when someone who has opinions they don't like actually puts them into action. Because now they can't say shit like "well if you think you're so much smarter than Rachel why don't YOU write the story!" and "you don't know what it's like to manage a comic!" so they grapple onto whatever other argument they can even if it's misconstrued or entirely pulled out of thin air and not backed up with any legitimate evidence.

Their perspectives make sense to them. My perspective makes sense to me. I don't blame people for being suspicious when they see someone like me pour this much time and effort and money into a project like Rekindled, they assume it HAS to do with something they can rationalize from their own point of view, like wanting to "steal" Rachel's work or profit off it or take it for myself out of "jealousy".

Sorry to disappoint y'all with a boring answer, but I'm just someone who was once a huge fan of LO and couldn't let it go. I'm just someone who's way too hyperfixated, with a lot of passion for making comics and experience to match. I'd still be making it even if I didn't have an assistant. I'd still be making it even if I was stuck working with nothing but paper and pencil. Because I love making it and I love what it means to me, and I love that it makes other people feel the same way I do about it.

And that's really all I have to say on that.

Arisa's very much into her rebellious tweens/even more rebellious teens at this point and is always trying to pull ridiculous stunts on the ice and doing other shit like hacking people's wifi and all over wreaking a lot of havoc. The other parents are relatively calm (well, Yuuri frets but tries to act calm), because she's smart and usually knows her own limits, plus she reminds them of a certain Russian punk when he was her age....But Yurio, wHOOO BOY Yurio is ALWAYS freaking out and saying don't pull this shit don't do that, DID YOU JUST LAND A QUAD, WTF I TOLD YOU NOT TO TRY THAT SHIT YET, what are you gonna do if your younger siblings imitate you, DON'T GIVE ME THAT EYE ROLL YA LIL BRAT!

She's recently adopted what will eventually grow to be her Signature Look TM: a red leather jacket. At first it was just a thing she had her dads buy for her bc it looked cool, but it grew on her and as she becomes more public-conscious and aware of the importance of creating an image and persona to present (eyyy Phichit's social mastery coming thru HAHA), she's like HEY this could work! and starts accumulating a collection. You'll see her in biking jackets, cropped jackets, trenchcoats...all in bright red AHAHAHA

And Saya, she loves all her brothers to bits honestly, from Noé who's mostly glued to her side, to Trying Way Too To Be Cool twins, to of course over eager Yuuji, but she's SO got such a sisterly crush on Arisa who she thinks is the COOLEST PERSON EVER. Which, of course, leads to Arisa trying to show off more, and then Yurio yelling more, and then Beka sighing and telling Yurio to just Chill a bit while dragging him away, all while Yuuri rubs his temples and groans. And Saya just watches with sparkly eyed admiration from her spot on mom's lap because Arisa is so cool and the twins sulk and are jealous that their attempt at an equally stupid but slightly less effective stunt went ignored (but Minami and Victor caught them and are NOT amused...).

(and in case you were wondering, in this scenario Chris is missing because he's busy desperately crawling about the house looking for Yuuji, who stole an entire box of pizza and is currently no doubt hiding in some corner trying to stuff as much into his face as he can before he's caught. Phichit's cuddling with Noé while giving Chris vague directions to the right area from the comfort of his office; he already knows where Yuuji is, they have body heat detectors in every room, but he also knows Yuuji's having a blast playing high stakes hide and seek (nothing is more high stakes than food LOL) and will indulge his son just a little bit)

Also note, as I hopefully start posting more drawings with Saya, you should hopefully be able to tell her approximate age by how Goth her clothing choices are AHAHAHAHA She starts out wearing the cutest pastel colors, all sorts of colors until she starts expressing a preference, and she likes girly and feminine things and likes Arisa's outfits so then her parents start getting her more pink (close to Arisa's red but more girly?), but once she's of an age where she can pick her own clothes she unintentionally chooses more monochrome, then just black, and black, and black by the time she's a teen...Currently pink but the gray starting to creep in AHAHAHHAH

It was actually supposed to be a general JRPG blog, but somehow it’s 49% doodle shitposts, 1% actual artistic fanart maybe, 40% whining about my miserable gacha luck in mobile games while crying how amazing the scenario writing in Rays is, and 10% reblogs of general fangirl things. Most likely to be either Tales of Zestiria or Destiny.

Low-key tempted to call the Little Mermaid crossover “the AU in which Meebo can swim”. Crying that I have to make a choice which units I hoard stones for in ToLink is “ToLink whine tag”, and crying that I still don’t have Sorey’s MA in Rays although I swear to God every single one of my mutuals has and that’s only the beginning of my problems is “Tales of the Rays whine tag”. JUST IN CASE SOMEBODY DIDN’T GET BEHIND THE TAGGING SYSTEM. My favourite tags are the screams of CUTE and OMG that I get :,D

This Guy Named Jim Will Draw Whatever You Want in Microsoft Paint

Want to see Vladimir Putin's face painted on the Village People? What about a winged Margaret Thatcher riding a flying penis? How about Trump, Pence, and William Pryor in drag, with Obama as RuPaul, commanding them to "sashay away?" You'll find all of these outlandish inventions on Jim'll Paint It, a website where a man named Jim creates anything the internet asks him to in Microsoft Paint. Conjure the most absurd scenario, and Jim will paint a hilarious, comic-book style rendering of it. His operation is a bit like the Adult Swim version of Melbourne artist Jessirose Streker, who paints portraits of inspirational people from around the world.

Jim, who would not reveal his last name, tells Creators he can also be referred to as "Mr. Paint It." Always one to draw, collage, and do "arty things," his career didn't take off until a few months after launching Jim'll Paint It, when he started to make a bit of money by selling prints and t-shirts.

"On my lunch breaks, to get away from the rigid monotony of programs like InDesign and Illustrator, I'd fire up Microsoft Paint and do some quick doodles," Jim says. "The first bunch of pictures I did were for my friends on Facebook, who are mostly a bit weird, and so asked for oddball stuff like religious prawns and anthropomorphic cities. That seemed to set the precedent in terms of style.

"When I posted the first bunch of pictures on Tumblr, I got dozens of requests overnight from complete strangers," Jim continues. "I chose a massively inappropriate name as a joke, thinking that maybe 30 or 40 people would ever see it. But, then it all got a bit out of hand."

To make his digital paintings, Jim uses the XP version of Microsoft Paint with an optical mouse on an iMac running Parallels virtual machine. Jim does almost all of his drawing using the curved line tool, zooming in and out, and often painting pixel by pixel. After this is complete, he does two or three-step shading.

"There are no layers so I draw the background in a separate file and then paste the foreground items on top," Jim says. "I have a palette of pre-decided skin tones and such so that my pieces have a consistent feel. And for the last couple of years I've been working to a square format."

Jim credits his popularity to setting up a Facebook page in early 2013, right when the social platform was pushing its pay-for-reach model. He says it took him only about three days until he reached a point where he knew he'd never be able to fulfill every request, even if he painted all day every day for the rest of his life.

"It's hard to count up how many requests I get a day as they come in on my Facebook wall, via Tumblr messages, on Twitter, Instagram, and as comments on every picture I post," Jim says. "Probably averages about 40-50 a day nowadays. Last time I actively asked for new requests I got 1,700 replies."

Despite Jim'll Paint It's characteristic humor, violence, and pop culture surrealism, Jim avoids attaching too much of his own personality to the paintings, partially because he is a self-described "socially awkward nerd." But also because he wants to focus on the imaginations of those requesting the paintings. Don't expect Jim to start a Bob Ross-esque version of Jim'll Paint It anytime soon. "Watching me paint would be intensely boring, I reckon," says Jim. "Unlike Bob Ross, I can't draw a whole mountain by scraping a bit of white paint on a canvas."

Jim is, however, in the process of setting up a Patreon, where supporters will be able to drop into the occasional live feed of his painting process, amongst other things. He promises to save the most interesting bits of the process for these behind-the-scene looks.
