the concept was originally in reference to hades au specifically but it is quickly spiralling out of my control and i am just thinking. i know tales through time lacus solitudinis was all like i am the instrument of your doom or whatever but nicky as peaceful death, the one who comes for those who die outside of battle, who carries souls gently from their bodies and makes it as painless as he can, who soothes the frightened ones and reassures the ones who cling to life, who is terrifying when he needs to be but always tries to be kind...... it makes me feel like 12 different emotions at once

okay at first i was like, why is ayan threatening to tell people akk's the one bringing the curse back when he already said he wouldnt. ayan also claimed he didnt believe akk anymore about not stealing the notebook bc of what he’s "now" seen akk do - but he’s known akk was behind things since the beginning. and actually the only motive i can come up with is that he was worried about what akk would do if he was left alone that night, because akk kept trying to get away from him, and not letting ayan help him. so ayan threatened to tell people that akk was bringing the curse back if he didnt stop.
and i realized that... something huge about ayan's past is that he witnessed his uncle’s suicide. and IF im interpreting this episode correctly, you have to consider that aspect of trauma alongside the way he acts towards akk, & the reactions he gets from akk.
akk pushes ayan away when ayan says he needs to think of himself first. akk leans into ayan’s hug at first but then pushes him away again and tries to leave. so ayan follows and does what he’s done in the past. he threatens. he gets a rise out of akk, a confrontation akk can't back out of rather than an attempt to escape. and maybe ayan only does that because he’s scared. maybe he’s scared of leaving akk alone, not knowing what akk will do - whether it be continue the curse or something worse. he needs to make sure akk will stop.
so throughout the rest of the episode, as ayan drags akk back to the school to search for his notebook, it’s possible that what he’s really doing is just keeping akk busy. and it works because they settle back into the same teasing/exasperated relationship they had before. it smooths things between them. but the balance doesn’t truly tip into where it needs to be until ayan has his nightmare, and akk hurries to comfort him. after their conversation on the beach, things couldn't go back to the way they were before, but couldnt move forward either. akk isn’t the only one who needed to show weakness in this ep, ayan needed to as well. especially since while they were searching for the notebook he avoided akk’s question abt why it was important again. they both needed to lean on each other this ep. they both need to learn to trust each other. so i can’t wait to see what comes next, and how ayan eventually opens up about the truth of his relationship with dika and what happened to him.

Wonder how long it'll take em to loop back round to the end of it#Under Pros AND Cons:#more standalone stories#I have complicated feelings about that. Mostly that Big Finish would do more story arcs but like. i feel like. if a parallel/callback is going to happen then it should be like, the icing on the cake, not the only thing that makes the scene worthwhile.
#thunder rambles#to use two INSANELY different examples#in trollhunters rott theres that. parallel piece of dialogue between jim and toby. and as soon as they said it the first time i was like#'THATS going to come back later.' because of how out of place it felt#and it was like wooo chekovs gun when toby was dying and they said it again or whatever. but there was no... buildup behind it rly#WHEREAS#when simmosa get together the callback is twofold!#first of all the 'fresh start?' thing is more than just them earnestly forgiving each other#its also about the circumstantial things that have kept them apart for this long. like snap judgments/jonah being annoying#and also them each being in relationships or not ready for a new relationship#so like. 'fresh start?' is like okay now thats all out of the way. now that we're on the same page about how we feel about each other#lets move past the bullshit that got in the way the first time and try again. and then he kisses her.#which is *fundamentally* the same emotional moment as the one in the pilot when they first say 'fresh start?' except on a#WHOLEEEEE different plane of emotional weight and milestone for their relationship#AND#the second aspect of the callback is that it happens in the photo lab.#they could have put those badboys in the breakroom or just any random room but they were like no.#pathetic fallacy of an obscene variety babey#and it rules.

Okay I will admit I was nervous going into Chalice of the Gods but I did love it
#ive been so distanced from the riordanverse since blood of olympus and i was very scared because this book is my og babies again#but rick pulled it off#were there things i didnt like? such as him forgetting Percy wore the invisibility cap before? yeah#and i wish there had been some more dialogue and meaningful conversations between characters. he's still shying away from that lately#which is disappointing#but im intrigued about what hes setting up and the little moments hes weaving in#we're still getting hints of percy's extreme power. like him with the river god?#rick what does it all MEAN#dont be a coward and commit to it#plus percy's growing resentment towards the gods and their treatment of everyone they see as less than them#give me the dark!percy storyline#but i also loved percy wavering on new rome (sorry girlies i am a new rome hater first and foremost)#and him mourning the fact that he wont be at chb much anymore#which i still think is so stupid but whatever im dealing with it#i loved all the callbacks to the og series. bit surprised rhea was introduced so casually but whatever#i feel like that could have been very cool#and the god of old age! gary! i'm so bad at writing action scenes...
#stuff sarah says#somehow the trials in a certain video game cringe fic were way easier to write#i think bc it's emotion based? like everyone's supposed to be so scared and fighting for their lives with no weapons#and i can do that. i can write fear. i can write getting impaled on a meat hook repeatedly#guns???? mutated evil scientists????????? environmental explosions????#girl help........#and of course i'm writing abt the gun evil mutated guy and explosions games...#while i would love to write 50k of people just crying and talking about feelings. that's not realistic to canon#nor is it actually the story i wanted to tell either. i wanted peril.#i'm just used to a lot more dialogue and less action in my peril i guess#but i'm doing my best#i should read things that have action in them for research while i edit i think#or oh nooo replay the games over and over again (actually i can't do that bc i already do)#(and clearly it didn't make me better at writing these scenes)

This is an entirely unrelated thing, but i had an idea for a “custom” follower forever ago that, if you’d like to hear, i’ve put below! warning: its fucking long and i dont have the time nor energy to make it real beyond thinking it out.
To begin with a few precursor things: i enjoy asshole characters, as we dont often see them as followers and they flesh out the world of the game in a nice way, and i enjoy characters that are relevant to specific plots within the game. If there are personal stakes involved, like serana with her story, it makes it all the more satisfying to look for dialogue and go through to the end of the quest with them.
And i’m also DEEPLY mentally ill about three things: castle Volkihar, moral ambiguity, and a guy named ronthil.
If you’ve never heard of him, i don’t blame you: he’s a vampire bosmer within clan Volkihar that does nothing but serve as a merchant and a speech trainer. His wiki is super fucking small and the unique thing about him is that he’s treated worse than dirt within the clan, making him sleep behind a bookshelf iirc. He’s constantly staying on the good behavior to not get kicked out and making himself available to tasks. ur standard pathetic meow meow, so of course i like him.
Anyway my proposal was to turn Ronthil into a “Serana dialogue add on” styled mod that changed some of his core motivations, re-contextualizing his people pleasing personality, offering players an additional perspective into clan volkihar’s inner workings, provide players who were already vampires a different start to dawnguard (because a vampire hunter approaching a vampire and said vampire going to the vampire hunter’s lair is suicidal stupidity at best), and finally provide a moderate voice for why somebody might wanna be a vampire and stay that way.
so the proposed changes start like this: Whether or not you’re a vampire, you’ll sometimes see a man wandering about at night along the roads. If you’re a human, he basically doesn’t interact with you.
If you’re a vampire, he makes the suggestion that something of value to the both of you has come to his attention recently, and if you were to help him he’d be more than generous with the earnings. Obviously this is an equivalent exchange, as he is considerably ill equipped to take on anything nasty, so you’ll have to do a lot of the heavy lifting as far as fighting goes. If you agree, he leads you straight to Dimhollow crypt and the quest follows as normal. You return Serana home and are given the typical reward offer.
Assuming you accept, you’re given the standard speech and told to get your ass going to redwater den. If you speak to him after (you’ll find him loitering about) he’ll offer to accompany you, off the record of course, if you require him. He will then be available as a follower from that point on
If you’re wondering why a Volkihar vampire is being so charming and so helpful for no good reason, he’s not being; the truth of it is that he’s an intense social climber. He sees that Harkon favors you for the return of his daughter and you’ve already shown off your combat prowess at dimhollow, now with the added bonus that you’ve been given the power of a Vampire Lord. He suspects that rubbing elbows with you in a positive capacity will prove beneficial to him rising up that clan ladder down the line. Though, to be fair, he doesn’t at all suspect that it all leads to Harkon’s death, and you & serana effectively becoming the most powerful ppl at court.
Still, that’s really all the better for him so long as he can prove useful enough to you to be given a higher position, or at least treated with more dignity.
Ronthil in this version is basically faking all of his niceties, and underneath it all is a calculating little bastard. He wants power and status, typical vampire desires, but wants them for the protection and strength they provide, not necessarily to squash people beneath him (though he’d be tempted were the mood to strike him. I mean, he IS a vampire.) His climb to the position he’s in now, lowly as it is and even with how he’s treated, is still something he fought tooth and nail for, so he’s not willing to risk himself being stupid unless he thinks there’s something better in it for him to be that way.
aaaand i just ran out of creative juice, so thats the general idea i’d cooked up. if you read this far, congrats and also wow i sure hope you like vampires lol.

fanfic writers how do you guys keep your thoughts and ideas consistent throughout a work bc i just think too much and too fast and i’m lucky if i can catch an idea quick enough to sketch something out or write it down

#so explanation. dr footsteps level 5 dialogue implies that there's a social gap between wild and caught pokemon#wild pokemon tend to seek out trainers to join their teams so that they can get stronger and certain types (tough iirc) brag about it#while other types tend to wonder if their friends from the wild would even recognize them if they were to meet again#meanwhile wild pokemon who dont want a trainer are implied to be either prideful of not having a human or resentful that theyre weaker#so. that dialogue inspired me to create the story between castor's parents which i can say bc it has no bearing on the real story lmao#basically dusk was specifically bred to have perfect IVs and a hidden ability and bought by a trainer who didnt exactly neglect her#but didnt give her much of an emotional connection and only cared abt what she brought to the table with battling#so she didnt exactly have a choice in being caught at all nor did she have any choice in her specific trainer.#regardless though. shes in a place where it's supported that wild pokemon are missing out and shes in the best possible position#so she boasts about it and kinda looks down on wild pokemon#bruno meanwhile was an alpha pokemon who was practically pushed and trained into a leadership role since he hatched#he was born in a group of skorupis and its been an unspoken expectation that they are his responsibility#being an alpha also means that he didnt actually need a trainer to become as powerful as he became (reaching around level 75 just being wild#so he also looks down on trained pokemon because he did not have that experience and finds solace in his community#yet at the same time he resents his position bc he never chose to be a leader and he has to pretend to be vicious#when in actuality hes extremely tame for a drapion and wants nothing more than to settle down#so dusk deep down secretly kinda yearns for the wild bc she wants to know what its like and bruno secretly wants a chill trainer#that probably just feeds him and lets him sleep in their yard#meaning that the two of them are Inherently incompatible despite what they believe#bc like no matter what. if they tried to stay together someone would have been miserable#because dusk has no experience in the wild at all and likely would have perished sooner than anticipated#and also doesnt get the rigorous training she desires#while if bruno joined her trainers team then he would be leaving the skorupi to be vulnerable in the great marsh#and joining a team where only his mate would have had an emotional connection to him when community was so important before#and so they both have to stay in their positions and theyre both kinda looking down on one another AND being very jealous of them#so like. they can talk abt how their romance was escapism all they want but it NEVERwas gonna work out. sorry castor#you were always destined to be a child of divorce#id like to think that dusk at least gets a different trainer that still uses her competitively as she loves#but also gives her the affection and friendship and connection that shes always yearned for#but like. way way later on bc when she gives up castor she is extremely deep in the fog and terrified of losing her trainer
