the man | james potter x reader
song; the man [taylor swift] pairing; james potter x fem!"slut"!reader // slight sirius black x reader genre; fwb2l, light angst, hurt comfort(ish), light fluff word count; 1,7k timeline; marauders' last year at hogwarts warnings; swearing, slut-shaming, double standards, mentions/talk of sex, mentions of hook ups/sleeping around, misogyny, verbal conflict summary; you hated it. james could go around sleeping with as many different people as he liked and get praised for it, while you did the exact same and only ever got slut-shamed. the worst part? james didn't seem to understand that, despite being your most frequent fling
a/n; if you're below 16 please dni, there is no explicit smut but there are mature themes

"every conquest i had made would make me more of a boss to you."
————————————
You were used to the whispers that passed you in the hallways, but they still chipped away at your sanity. Offended wasn't how you would describe your emotions: no, you were angry. Angry that these people held judgements against you when they didn't even know you.
"She'd open her legs for anyone."
Even if you did, why would that make you an unkind person- someone not worthy of being friends with? How you explored your sexuality did not reflect how you explored your friendships, and your closest and dearest friend Lily Evans could vouch for that. You were loyal, generous and caring, but all anyone ever saw in you was a good-for-nothing whore. You could safely say that if you were in a relationship, you would never cheat - but you weren't, so you had every right to sleep around.
"She's such an easy lay."
It was ironic, really, how the boys talked shit about you behind your back, degrading your conquests, but still wouldn't hesitate to hook up with you given the chance. They were such hypocrites: if people like you didn't exist, they wouldn't have anyone to fuck when they got horny and lonely. If anything, they should be grateful that you provided them a service they so desperately craved for free of charge. Still, the comments hurt more coming from girls. They had been victims of sexism and misogyny their whole lives, and knew how it hurt, yet still decided to be that same way to you.
"Y/N would still fuck the ugliest guy on earth."
No, you wouldn't. Despite popular belief, you didn't hook up with anyone who looked your way. You hadn't even slept with half the guys in your year, although it was at the point where any of them could lie about fucking you and would be believed. There was no point fighting the rumours: it would just be another game of he said, she said.
"Overused pussy."
Since the rumours had gotten out of hand, your sex drive had actually decreased immensely. Not out of disgust in yourself (Merlin, no - you were not in the wrong here), but out of distrust of any of the guys in the school. They didn't deserve your sexual abilities, which were good, by the way. You excelled in the art of sex, and they really should have been more appreciative of that fact, because now you were going to starve them of it.
It happened all the time: a guy you'd hooked up with in the past tracking you down to beg you for another round. Yeah, and supposedly you were the desperate one.
You began turning them all away, hexing them if they pushed further.
Well, all except one.
James Potter was a frequent fling of yours, and with you now being on strike, he was practically your only on-going conquest. You liked him because he never spoke of your sexual encounters with anyone, not even the other Marauders. You knew that for a fact because you had hooked up with Sirius in the past, and he had definitely told them by the way they all acted around you afterwards. No, they didn't act that way at all after the first time you hooked up with James - it was clear they didn't know.
It's not that you disliked Sirius, as he clearly hadn't said anything bad about you, you just preferred how James treated the situation. Admittedly, you had been the one to seek him out for a second round.
And then it progressed into more, leading you to the official situation of friends with benefits, as you knew him too well outside of the bed for it to have a lesser title. Nonetheless, it was not awkward between the two of you in lessons and at mealtimes - it was how it had always been.
Even though he didn't make the comments himself, it was more than obvious that he didn't seem to understand how badly you were treated for partaking in the same actions that he did without judgement. It annoyed you, to some extent.
"I heard Endale call me a whore."
"Why would he say that?"
or
"I hate being called a slut."
"It can't happen that often."
Yeah, it pissed you off. You were reaching breaking point with it.
***
Tuesday evening, and you had just finished up with James in the Room of Requirement, which he had introduced to you after your flings became a frequent thing - although, you had never taken anyone else there, something about the room felt too special to share with anyone who wasn't James. You buttoned up your school shirt with your back to him, relishing in the silent but far from awkward aftermath of sex.
"I heard you fucked Potguild."
You scoffed, "D'you believe every rumour you hear?"
"Is it true?"
"No," you said, "I haven't fucked anyone but you in a few weeks."
You then turned to him to see he had raised an eyebrow at you.
"What?"
"Then how come I hear guys talking about their last shag with you every day? They can't all be lying."
You deadpanned James, which made him frown.
It was his turn to say, "What?"
"They can all be lying. That's what men do."
His brows furrowed further, "But-"
"James," you snapped, which took him by surprise - you rarely used his first name outside of sex, "You know nothing of what it's like to be a girl."
He remained silent.
"I'm so sick of you acting like I'm exaggerating when I talk about how I'm treated - you just think I'm exaggerating because it doesn't happen to you."
He opened his mouth to speak, but you kept going.
"Wanna know why it doesn't happen to you? Because you're a guy. You can shag whoever the fuck you want and get praised for it - get called the man - and it pisses me off that you don't understand that I don't get treated the same."
"Y/N-"
"Save it," you spoke harshly, grabbing your bag and leaving the room. He made no effort to chase you - and you weren't sure if you were happy or upset about that.
To be honest, you were pretty sure you were more mad at the patriarchal society you lived in than you were at James: he was far from an inherently bad person and would probably make an effort to apologise over the course of the next week.
You were right.
***
"Y/N, can we talk?" he asked at the end of transfiguration, catching you at your desk.
The first thing about his question that took you off guard was his use of your name in a non-sexual context. The second thing that surprised you was the lack of the other Marauders in the classroom - they almost always waited for each other.
"About what?" you said more coldly than you would have preferred.
"You know... the other day."
You sighed, "Okay, let's talk, Potter."
You almost didn't catch the way he flinched at the use of his last name.
"Great," he took your hand, and began leading you out the classroom to an alcove tucked into the wall some way down the corridor.
He let go of your hand, and stood facing you, as if waiting for something.
"Well...?" you pushed, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow at him.
"I'm sorry," he said firmly, "I should have registered how differently girls and women get treated, but I didn't, and that's on me."
You felt your expression and posture soften slightly.
"And I know there's no excuse, but I think- I think me believing the rumours was less to do with believing guys over you and more to do with me being scared they were true."
A frown formed on your face as you adjusted your stance, hoping that your silence pressed him to elaborate.
"I don't want you sleeping with other people, so I feared the worst."
"You want to be... exclusive?" you questioned slowly.
"Yes," he said quickly, "But not just sexually - I... I want to date you... I mean- there had to have been a reason you started only sleeping with me, right?"
As you processed his words, you felt your stomach flip with nervous excitement, and that was a cue to you that you may want to try something more with James. He was definitely the best sex you had ever had, anyway, as unlike many of the other guys, he actually paid attention to your needs as well as his.
"...Okay," you said eventually, "We can start with one date and see how it goes from there. But, for the record, me only hooking up with you was less to do with you and more to do with the other guys - so don't get ahead of yourself."
He nodded eagerly, seemingly brushing past your last statement, "Yes, perfect - Hogsmeade, this weekend?"
"But it isn't a Hogsmeade weekend-"
"You really think the Room of Requirement is the only Hogwarts secret I know?"
To be fair, you weren't really surprised to hear that.
"But, you realise that dating me probably won't stop the rumours... or change my reputation... and instead just ruin yours?"
He shook his head, "I don't care, they're pathetic attention seekers - I now know better than to listen to what they say."
"Let's hope so."
"Godric, have more faith in me, woman."

Let's talk about Yinu's boss fight...
Tumblr media
Yinu is the third NSR artist we face in No Straight Roads, alongside her mother who I'll refer to as Mama. Yinu is my 3rd favorite NSR artist not only for her character but the fact she plays neoclassical music! There's a really interesting connection I want to make later but without further ado let's talk about Yinu.
"I'll show you why they call me the Golden Maestro of Vinyl City!"
Tumblr media
Yinu's battle goes like most of the others......except you don't fight her...you fight her mother. Mama will appear after you break the gate and will hold Yinu out of harms way, shielding her when you get rid of all the strings. Mama functions as the main obstacle you have to get through to get to Yinu. She will keep Yinu away from you for the entire battle, focused on mainly keeping Yinu performing.
She starts out as simply being behind the curtain, then in the second phase she grows and lifts up the stage into the air, and finally she uses herself as a sort of cage. You defeat her but it isn't over you're interrupted by Yinu who is angry at EVERYONE and furiously plays her piano.
You finally reach her and we hear something audibly break. The cutscene plays and we see everyone falling. No one is hurt in the fall but.......
Mayday and Zuke broke Yinu's piano.
Tumblr media
Yinu plays neoclassical music which consists of piano, strings, and wind instruments. I absolutely love Yinu's theme not only because I love classical music myself but because it's so melodic and really evokes emotion. The rock version, while not my favorite, is also really good at using guitars and drums to replace the strings and winds.
One element I love is that the furious piano playing towards the end of the song stays in the rock version as well. It's such a nice touch to add to keep in the same in every version of Yinu's music. When I hear hear theme music I can imagine her enjoying herself, playing her piano for her fans but also for herself and her mother. I hear passion when listening to Yinu's theme which says a lot than having to express it with more words.
The next time you listen to her theme I want you to really listen and see what your mind comes up with when listening to it.
Tumblr media
B2J's overthrowing Yinu's concert reminded me of the rise of popularity for rock in the 1950's and it subsequently becoming mainstream in the 20th century.
With popular music such as rock, jazz, and the blues becoming so popular classical music was forgotten about and had to find its own niche radio stations. Even today any type of classical music is basically forgotten or isn't looked as fondly upon as pop or rock music.
When B2J destroyed Yinu's piano this thought solidified itself as them getting rid of classical music, quite literally drowning Yinu out until you're trying to reach her. May and Zuke got rid of Yinu's neoclassical music in her district.
They put down a music genre just so rock can become popular again.
Tumblr media
Conclusion is Yinu is an S-tier boss fight and she has so much untapped story that I didn't go over.
Thank you for reading, Dj Subatomic Supernova is up next.

Coolest boss fight?
the thing is I don't even know if I can answer this correctly. there's just so many options I've probably forgotten, and I don't play games with Good Fighting as much as I'd like so I can only give very basic answers. so I'll try a few.
Mr. Freeze from Batman Arkham City - this one gets praised often for good reason. I LOVE when games make you accustomed to your position against your enemies and suddenly turn this around. taking your weapons, abilities, or just showing you an enemy that is IMPOSSIBLE to face in the means you normally do. Mr. Freeze turns a predator into prey, and forces you to think like one. It's genuinely really cool, even if short (in the regular difficulty) and not super narratively necessary.
[SPOILER] (second to last fight) from Castlevania Aria of Sorrow - AAAAHHHHH!!!!! TURNING THE PLAYER AROUND AGAINST THEMSELVES!!!!!! EXCEPT IN A DIFFERENT WAY!!!! ALSO BANGING THEME SONG!!!!!!!
Mordegon from Dragon Quest XI - see this is where my love for mechanical mastery of a game really shows. Mordegon is just a normal bad guy. I don't find him super interesting. Cool design, sure, but the Plot and Lore is not why I played Dragon Quest XI. The reason I love Mordegon so much is that it is the one fight in the entire game where I actively used every character in my party throughout the fight. If you don't know, Dragon Quest XI has a party of 4 characters fighting at any time, but you can switch them out in the middle of the fight whenever you want (this costs you a turn though). so when things get tough, you're actually encouraged to rotate your party to keep people alive. the point is that this is the one fight where I really felt like I needed every single party member to do a specific thing they were good at to help each other. this is the game that taught me how to really utilize status effects and buffs/debuffs to turn my party into a real team. I fucking love that game.
thanks for the question !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXI - Wings of the Goddess)
Expansion #4, the time travel one baby!!!!! The story for this one is neat, as it brings back what the base game had of choosing a nation and having missions based off that nation specifically, but also having a lot more of a unified storyline. You get to meet a lot of familiar NPCs from the past, but also get to revisit the base world, with slight changes. The entire world is at war, and all of the cities you're in are more like military forts. It's all very cool. The official soundtrack for this is weird; cause it includes Iron Colossus and Ragnarok, which are Aht Urhgan songs (Ragnarok being the final boss of that expansion (also fucked up that Odin is Iron Colossus and Alexander is Ragnarok)), but doesn't include its actual final boss theme, cause that was put in a different soundtrack later. I am not 1-to-1 following the official soundtrack for this list for this exception (spoilers whooaaaaaaaaa)
5. Snowdrift Waltz What if we made a song using the sound of throwing a rock against a very very large landmass of ice? That's this song. Which works! Cause it plays in a frozen tundra. I really feel like the title of this song fits it in particular, a lot more than a lot of songs; cause that's literally just what it is! It's a nice waltz that sounds like snowdrift. I don't have much to say other than it's a really good melody with a very unique sound in the back, perfectly fitting its purpose.
4. Run Maggot, Run! We've done a lot of parts for one game. The pro of this is I get to share a lot more songs that I enjoy because the game is so big. The cons of this though, are a few of the songs are just going to fall under the same general reasoning for why I enjoy them, because XI has that XI sound that I really like. This is ultimately, another XI battle song that kinda fits that same mold previous entries have, so I won't go too in depth other than I love the cool pan flute, the more intense than usual percussion, and the melody when the muted cymbal and starry noise come in.
3. Under a Clouded Moon This song was a lot like Tough Battle #2, where I hated it at first because of the really weird rhythm it had; but then I started really listening to it and I was able to find where the song was (does that make sense?). I love the strangely buzzy echo the song goes into when giving the main hits a break, especially when it adds the artificial choir sound on the second go. Finally, the part that plays right before that repeat reminds me of Dragon Quest IX's grottos, which makes me really happy cause I love that game.
2. Goddess Divine Hey remember when I made a whole paragraph saying that the actual final boss theme wasn't in the soundtrack? Here's that theme now! I feel like it's been a minute since I've put an actual final boss theme in the lists; RotZ's was good, but the first half is a little repetitive. And I never really cared for CoP's or ToAU's. But this one felt different. It's a lot more subdued than the previous examples. I love the choir in the start, giving you that same heavenly vibe that part 4 of Dancing Mad does, fitting the fight. The melody is beautiful, yet I wanna say the minor key it's in (I might be wrong on this) and the heavy strings/percussion bring in that sense of sorrow and tension that really reminds you 1) this is a fight for your timeline but also 2) this is essentially a fight against your friend. The final part of the song brings back that heavenly sound with the XI flair, and making the bells/glockenspiel an actually tolerable instrument! (middle school band has left scars on my heart) I also really liked the Dissidia NT version of this song, giving it a very techno feel.
1. Wings of the Goddess It's been a minute since I've used a final boss theme, and it's also been a minute since I've used a title screen theme. Other than Vana'diel March, Wings of the Goddess is my second favorite title theme. Whenever one of them starts playing as I boot up the game, I get nothing but a big smile on my face. While it has very similar percussion to a lot of the game, something about the snare in this one gives me more of that drummer boy to battle vibe than Vana'diel March had, befitting this expansion taking place during a war, but still giving you that hopefulness, that freedom, and that happiness in its main melody getting you ready for this open world. My favorite part is the final part of the song, with the horn solo playing off, and the flute repeating itself almost like it's fading away the song, telling you to start the game up already! It's a really nice composition that I love for a lot of the same reasons as Vana'diel March, but making it different enough to give its own story.
Honorable mentions this time are: March of the Allied Forces, Flowers on the Battlefield, Griffons Never Die, Echoes of a Zephyr, Thunder of the March, Royal Wanderlust, and Troubled Shadows.

Top 5 Celeste levels, official and/or fanmade.
ooh. this is tough... but i can do that. here we go
minge's top 5 [official] celeste levels
#5. 6A // Reflection
oh yeah. the exposition level. it's got my favorite crystal heart puzzle, adds at least 3 of my favorite mechanics in the game (kevins, feathers, bumpers) AND it's got a whole boss fight in it where you, quite literally, confront yourself. it's such a cool setup for chapter 7 as well
#4. 7A // The Summit
champion's road but celeste. i love this level. Reach for the Summit is actually one of my favorite songs from this game solely because of how well it translates every past level's theme into this cool, unified, progressive melody. also combining all the levels like this is just such a cool idea, especially the little interactions madeline and (not) madeline have with each other.
and the final part一especially when it comes to a casual runthrough or speedrunning一 is SUCH an adrenaline rush; every time i get there, i'm always thinking "you can do this". it's like you magically just gain the determination to keep going
#3. 2A // Old Site
this is really here because of bias. i think this chapter is neat and a very nice setup for some other stuff later on. but why is it here though?
dream blocks get introduced. it's my favorite gimmick. there's so much fun to be had with them, no matter how good you are at the game. as someone who's already kinda... cracked, i already know a lot of stuff you can pull off. dream jumps, dream grabs, dream hypers, to name a few... and don't get me STARTED on what mods do to it
#2. 8C // Core C-Side
champion's road but short. in the sense that, while C-Sides are only like 3 rooms, the last room is just a fusion of (nearly) every single gimmick you've been shown up to this point, INCLUDING Core's hot/cold gimmick.
to be completely honest, i hate Core with every fiber of my being (gameplay-wise. i think when it pertains to anything else it's actually very cool). i hated 8A and 8B on my first runs through them... but this was (and is) the one exception.
also you learn how to do hypers.
#1. 9A // Farewell
chat. need i say more
it's champion's road but for real. and you get to go to SPACE
story so good it almost makes you cry with symbolism done severely well, music so good it makes you feel every emotion all at once (i even REMIXED Farewell the song i love it that much), and gameplay so good that, despite it being intense on the first run through, is genuinely very cool and fun once you get it down. no other celeste level could ever do a "final room" like 9A did. plus you even get taught how to wavedash (via POWERPOINT i must add)! that's like, the coolest tech in the game... and the aesthetic?
it's SPACE bro who doesn't like space. you're throwin weird space jellies and jumping on space pufferfish and dodging space starfish. there's quite literally a black hole eventually. also you can breathe and there's a bird up here that WON'T STOP RUNNING AWAY
once you beat it, you become changed forever. nowadays i can beat it in like 35 minutes... but i'll be damned if i ever attempt "the farewell golden". i know my limits
i would've definitely given my favorite modded levels; there's a lot of them i know were good, but i couldn't recall anything specific about them in particular, so i just... didn't
i'll probably add it on to this post some other day

Hello Ms. Majimemegoro! I saw that you're playing Lost Judgement now, so I have a few questions I'd like your opinion on (feel free to answer as seriously/un-seriously as possible sgsggdsds this is def for fun)
1. Why do you think RGG Studios decided to name the generic boss fight theme song in LJ as "vore"?
2. In Soma's theme song "Viper", there are at least 2 (3?) instruments playing. Obviously Soma can't be playing his own music since he's busy doing the stabbing, so do you think he outsourced the job to his RK lackeys? Or does he only trust Akutsu to play all instruments? He is a very competent subordinate after all!
3. What is your opinion on this detective?
Tumblr media
For me, Nabe-san's the hottest man in the entirety of LJ hands down, but also he ruined my Hard mode streak because my controller wouldn't respond to his QTEs and I had to switch to Easy for his fight only, which I'm still bitter about
4. Which do you side with (aesthetically or morally or whatever), Black Leather Jacket with Cigarettes, or Brown Leather Jacket with Vapes? (follow up question: does your mom agree?)
1.Why do you think RGG Studios decided to name the generic boss fight theme song in LJ as "vore"? I saw the full name is vorarephilia and i was like 'oh but thats just latin, i wonder what it means'
Tumblr media
ok. no further comment.
2. In Soma's theme song "Viper", there are at least 2 (3?) instruments playing. Obviously Soma can't be playing his own music since he's busy doing the stabbing, so do you think he outsourced the job to his RK lackeys? Or does he only trust Akutsu to play all instruments? He is a very competent subordinate after all!
i think soma has no boss theme, that wonderful terrifying slasher music was in my mind. a reflection of my mental state.
3. What is your opinion on this detective? Well I think he should be friends with Date-san because they are both gruff slightly rumpled but competent detectives whose hearts are in the right place. I don't have strong opinions with him really but my SISTER. well she thought this dude had mad chemistry with Yagami. and also with her.
4. Which do you side with (aesthetically or morally or whatever), Black Leather Jacket with Cigarettes, or Brown Leather Jacket with Vapes? (follow up question: does your mom agree?)
aesthetically kuwana's outfits suck, he has a big baby head, and vaping is yuck. i also find his voice in the dub really annoying. finally I think he is, frankly, an idiot.
*BIG SPOILERS ALSO MENTIONS OF BULLYING AND SU*CIDE* there's room for nuance and im not categorically opposed to vigilanteism in principal. But there's one thing I can't get over: out of people who kill themselves, a certain proportion of them will have done so partially in response to someone who was harming them in some way—emotionally or physically or whatever. but only a specific subset of these harm-creating people are going to be called 'bullies': and that's kids. Kuwana is choosing to go after specifically children whose behavior led someone to su*cide, and not adults whose behavior did the same. WHat the heck kuwana!! did you even think this through !! hes a deranged little man. i can appreciate that in a character but sadly coupled with his lacklustre aesthetic this is an L for him on all sides. and my mother:
"This is easy! Black and brown leather jackets are both fine, but more important to have a vintage/used one! Cigarettes - you actually know what they are doing to you. Sorry, vapers, but to me those look stupid, like sucking on a great big ball point pen. Plus, popcorn lung."
After i gently suggested that the question was supposed to make her pronounce on yagami vs. kuwana, she said the following:
"One. *disparaging tone* Kuwana's voice.
"Two. Yagami is cute but in a mainstream way that's a bit irritating.
"Three. Well I might get in trouble for saying this. But I like the way his jeans fit and the way he walks. They did... a good job on that.
"Four. Yagami is better in every way.... except when he's dancing and he SMILES."
she also drew a picture of yagami getting hit by a car <3

shantae thoughts 3
Half-Genie Hero this game marks the series' leap to HD graphics! i like them. while they'll never go back to the Classic artstyle i really like this is a very nice artstyle. this one was funded via kickstarter but that really has no bearing on any of my thoughts as i have no idea how stretch goals affected the end product. as for the game itself, it's very interesting. every shantae game has very distinct gameplay with design throughlines, such as metroidvania-type upgrades and 2d platforming. this game is much more of a platformer than the others. while PC kinda felt "level-ish" with the areas not being interconnected and the 3 sequences that are basically levels, HGH is very distinctly a platformer. every level has distinct regions and you can't go back unless you start another run of the level. the music has again changed, of course, with a very distinct style. the most obvious thing would be the much more prominent use of synths and other electronic instruments in the level music. things like character themes and other "flavor music" still uses traditional instruments (not actual real instruments you know what i mean). overall i like it, it's cool and interesting, again working to make this entry stand out. as for the levels themselves, they're also good and interesting. HGH marks the return of transformation dances, with way more than RR (8 normal transformations compared to RR's 3). this brings me to my first complaint. there's too many. ok well maybe not too many but they are not all utilized as much as they could have been. there's crab transformation, which is used in a few specific instances but stops being used once you get mermaid (and mermaid bubble). similarly, mouse is used to do some exploring in the 2nd level once you get it, but only gets used like, twice outside of that. spider is the same. you get it and can explore more of 1 level and you use it in a handful of other instances. thankfully transformations are incredibly quick so despite the fact that there's so many and you have to hotswap fairly often it's not bad. like PC, there's food items, but spells have returned instead of being consumables. bubble also got turned into a proper spell. as for upgrading them, it's just money this time, no magic jam to trade for. this is honestly pretty good since money is also nowhere near as hard to get as it was in PC. upgrades in general don't have much to be said about them. TRANSFORMATION UPGRADES HOWEVER... most of them are progression locked, obviously. there's a handful that are optional, and these are the ones i hate. they're fuckin useless. they add basic attacks to their transformation. except you're never gonna be in a situation these will be helpful. on the topic of dances (again)... there's a vendor found in 2 levels who sells some special dances. the big thing is that most of them are basically spells. they cost magic and cause unique things. i barely ever used them except for the warp dance which is really useful when replaying levels. i bring them up as they feel like precursors to the dances in seven sirens (TO BE DISCUSSED LATER). oh yeah i have something to complain about. i hate cape crustacean. the first 2 sections of the level are too simple and it's really brought down by the fact that the same song plays through all 3 parts of the level. the other levels are either a) only 2 parts with the same song or b) have unique tracks for different parts. it feels like missed potential to not give the ammo baron's ship a unique theme. oh yeah there's bosses to talk about. TBH i forgot about them not because they're bad or anything but it just escaped my mind. it's a shame you can't refight them bc they all feel pretty unique and interesting. i think ammo baron's the best boss fight in the game. i would talk about the final boss here but i still have to talk about the final level. so when you unlock the final level you get the option to get 4 clues by exploring levels and finding collectables which you then give to the respective baron. SPLIT DUE TO BEING TOO LONG

LISTEN alright shut up and listen cause i am thinking about skeletons and specifically skeletons and MUSIC and SOUND alright. in undertale and deltarune. imagine i am leaning against a cork board covered in pins and red string and papers with frazzled hair and rolled up sleeves cause there is SO MUCH here that might not mean anything but I DON'T KNOW.
okay. so. you've all seen that post, right? that one post that points out that bonetrousle is the background music of every single undertale trailer ever, and yet papyrus is the only major undertale character not to appear in deltarune yet? yeah, that's fucking weird! but listen close! isn't it ALSO weird that papyrus only has two themes and they're basically the exact same thing as each other? like so similar especially to begin with? and sans has four different themes! twice that! and sure they're mostly all the same melody but they're all audibly distinct from each other! and then he has one theme, megalovania, that has no trace of any leitmotif in it! i KNOW megalovania was originally written for homestuck or toby's earthbound hack or whatever but isn't it weird that it wasn't even modified at all to include even one familiar tune in it? maybe it's to symbolize that this sans you're fighting is no longer himself, because fighting is not something he would do naturally, he's only doing it now after the world has fallen apart! i dunno! it's weird!
and THEN you have the fact that sans' theme is the only undertale song that's also on the deltarune soundtrack. AND the fact that song that might play when you fight sans is the only song that's on the ut ost, but never actually plays in the game! like did we ever figure out what that song's whole deal was?? i don't think so!!
there are so many dots i am force-connecting here. the way that gaster is most often associated with sound and music and audio. mus.smile. garbage noise on the phone. his natural speech is not in normal text that can be read. the secret bosses, characters corrupted by him, are the only characters in the game with actual voice lines. and then the KICKER: the way his theme is weird like sans and papyrus' cause it's so simple, it's just a four-note arpeggio that is so often used as a bassline for so many songs such that you often cannot tell whether or not it means anything. he's everywhere. fitting for a man who was shattered across space and time!
and all this to say. the skeletons' themes are all pretty fucking weird in their own ways. one of sans' is on the ost but not in the game, papyrus has two that are basically the exact same and one is the bgm of all the ut trailers when he himself is noticeably absent from dr, gaster's theme is everywhere AND nowhere, hidden in a secret room inaccessible except through file editing. i could go on and on. sans apparently plays the trombone. papyrus hears the "strange whisper" of the echo flowers over the phone. all of gaster's musical themes- another him, darkness falls, gaster's theme, man- are on piano (kris also plays the piano). we could play the piano in undertale but not in deltarune. welcome to the sound test room! listen to all your favorite tunes. it was nothing but garbage noise. the skeletons speak in odd fonts. the roaring is the name for the apocalypse in this game. hell's roar bubbles from the depths. the knight, the roaring knight. susie does not listen. kris cannot be heard. we got an actual song with lyrics in deltarune. thinking. thinking.

MHRise story thoughts
So I know that most people don't care about the story in Monster Hunter but it's something I actually enjoyed a lot of in Monster Hunter World.
in Monster Hunter Rise, I was a bit underwhelmed with the presentation of the story/narrative/lore in the world a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and will prob put in just as many hours if not more but there are some things I wanted to rant into the void about.
Things I miss:
- In World, each monster has a unique intro with you where you would go find them on the map. Compared to the (still amazing) intros of Rise, you first had to find them in a habitat or scenario that made sense. The picture of the monster in the quest selection was also hidden in World. This made experiencing the monster for the first time much more exciting to me. No intro in Rise compares to say, the first time you see Rajang in Iceborne
youtube
Now on the bright side, multiplayer is much more seamless in rise but they could've met in the middle by having the intro cutscene while also letting people join before the host triggers the intro. There is a middle-ground here
A big part of the excitement is that your character is in all of the scenes. Sometimes other characters too which leads me to another issue.
- In World, you had your handler and other NPCs showing up both in the world and throughout cutscenes at various points in the story. You're almost entirely alone outside of the village in Rise (with the exception of Rampages and one other moment). It's just a very lonely game in comparison especially if you're going through village quests.
All of the moments where you'd have more dynamic cutscenes involving talking to multiple people compared to world are just basic text conversations for the most part in one of like two locations in Rise: In front of the temple or the waterfront eating area in the hub.
- In World, the village music changed to reflect notable hunts. Now this one wasn't that special but it was a nice touch that Rise could've improved on. Imagine if before you fight a certain storm themed monster, the whole town was stormy and with cloudy skies similar to the arena. A minor complaint but I did enjoy it haha aside from hearing certain songs a little too much when they became optional quests.
All in all I really enjoy both games but I feel MHW did a lot of things to really immerse me in the world and convincingly show me that these monsters lived there. I would've loved to see Khezu establishing the same fear that Vaal Hazak was able to in both of its intros and having that directed at me when I encounter it.
I was also expecting to be able to fight Rathalos or some other flying wyvern on top of the highest mountain in the Shrine Ruins. It felt like every monster belonged in their respective environments in World whereas Rise somewhat felt more like "well this thing is gonna be here".
I expect a lot of this to improve with updates as new monsters and special arenas are added. The Final Boss in Rise was incredible and I can't wait to see more of that style in future fights because it really pushed the boundaries in making a cinematic hunt just as Iceborne did with the final update hunts in that expansion.
(also small plug but I have a discord if you'd like to hunt or talk about these things with me! https://discord.gg/CMfnsb8w5Q)

'Lonely ghost serie'
Chek and heartache- part III
Tw⚠️:swearing, referring of dark themes such as suicide attempt and mental illness.
The morning rays hit your eyes gently, tangible by their warmth,as you forced yourself from another dream of nothing but blank.
You groaned as your cat,Didi, comes running towards you: purring, meowing and chirping in pure happiness. You knew the reason she does this; your previous cat, Martha or Dildo- your roommate Sergiu called her that because of her dickish attitude with him- used to do this everytime so the little one, Didi, just followed her mother's lead.
Everytime she does that is like a small needle stabs at your heart especially when just 2 weeks passed since Martha died of old age- the black cat was adopted when she was senior, abused and malnourished, your heart knew you couldn't leave her to be laid to rest like a nothing. You adopted her, she bit you and you petted her, she hissed you hugged her, you did everything you could think of to show love even brush her fur with a wet toothbrush end to mimic sweet kisses coming from her mom. The cat soon realized that and started living again. Cautious of your other 3 roommates, cuddly with you.
Anyway, you got sidetracked with reminiscing. You heard your friends in the kitchen, Sabrina throwing away the take out boxes and Sergiu preparing some tea, probably to calm his stomach after all the spicy curry he ate last night.
You fixed the oversized white t-shirt and pull the marine blue shorts out of your bottoms, Didi already waiting you by the door.
You all, Sabrina,Sergiu,Ace and you, live in a quaint apartment, turned from campus housing, right next to one of the malls of the city. It had two small bathrooms, a living room , three petite bedrooms ,a tiny kitchen, a rounded balcony and a hallway. It was much smaller than your family home but it was in a central zone where your family home was outside the city's boundaries. You chose it not only because you wanted to spare your family from driving you to university but also because you needed your freedom, your space. Your parents were very understanding of that.
-Y/n e trează? ( "Is Y/n awake?") Ace asked as he sipped on his black cofee.
Without, he would pretty much be a grumpy hedgehog with spiky tealish mohawk. And who wouldn't love that?
-Nu încă, ah! Uite-o! ("Not yet,ah! There she is") Sabrina exclaimed, getting up to hug you and leaving the smoking tea cup by the window.
"Hello." You said ,voice grungy and eyes shut from the light.
You felt the warm hands of your Arabic friend on your face filled with moles and couple of marks from recently popped pimples, you let yourself be engrossed into it ,the touch starvation you carry like a cross chosing for you.
You hear her laugh, she always had a pretty laugh and a prettier smile . She was the beauty of the group, with big puffy sand yellow curls, brown skin with red undertones and black eyes who glow in pure happiness. She was stunning and a sweetheart with an obsession on the colour red and butterflies.
"Someone is needy." Ace teased.
"Shut up or I will staple those hair triangles on your scalp. "
You wanted to say something better but Sabrina then started massaging your lower face in a circular manner with her thumb. You knew you couldn't do anything anymore except melt.
-Anyway ,unde e Sergiu? ("Anyway, where is Sergiu?")
-Ți-o făcut ceai, cane e pervaz. S-o dus până sus să o ajute pe Florentina.("He made you tea, the cup is on the windowsill. He went upstairs to help Florentina.") He said, taking another sip of his cup.
-Ooooh, Florentina. You two began as Ace shook his head in amusement.
You and Sabrina were known to be ruthless in your teasing of the guitarist with long brown locks and beard.
Florentina was a crush of his, a freshman in the University of Arts who played the violin beautifully. Small, with olive skin, long red hair keept in a 1960s hairstyle and green petite with a triangular shaped face. She was a sweetie with a love for fantasy book ,autumn and ferrets.
-Oh, yeah?
-Dup, iubitul ei se mută cu ea. ("Yup, her boyfriend moves in with her")
-Oh.
Ace sucked in his lip ,his face filled with disappointment just like theirs now.
-That sucks.
-Numai spune,Sabrina.("You don't say,Sabrina")
Just then, the door clicked shut. Sergiu is back, this will be awkward.
-Ce vă uitați așa la mine?("Why are you looking at me like that?")
Neither of them could properly looked into the warm brown eyes of the man whose glow seemed to fade a bit, Sergiu was a stubborn man who shut his feelings deep inside, only through his song you could tell he was suffering. Just like you, I suppose.
-Am auzit...("We heard...")
You bit your lips as your long fingers played with each other, twisting and tugging while your nerves grew. Last thing you wanted was another fight where you all force the man to open up. He had suicidal tendencies, sometimes he came too close to actually do it but you were there and you needed to be there now too, even if he doesn't like being taking care of.
Sergiu rolled his eyes at you, his heart hurt from how rigid your posture was, eyes were worried about him but also scared, teeth grinding themselves not out of anger but out of care and fear.
He knew you hated arguments and shouts with dying passion. You always cried when someone raised their voice in less than friendly manner, you hated this reaction of complete terror, you hated looking weak but now you hated letting your friend burn himself because of an unfortunate love triangle. So you swallowed your nerves and braved on, it's about him ,not you.
Sergiu wanted to protect you all from this negativity, especially you and Ace. You had a big event to organise , Ace's sex reassignment surgery is coming up soon. You both have your own problems to dwell ,you didn't need to have him as one too.
However somewhere in his head, a voice telling him that he was wrong ,that voice that took the shape of you in the night of July.
You were crying, your grey hoodie wet from the rain as you cling desperately to him, not daring to move.
He was the reason why you crying, why you yelled profanities our of worry for what he was about to do. He...He tried to throw himself off a bridge ,the same bridge you two first shared your kiss.
That dark episode still irked your minds in the darker moments, late in the night nothing but your mind to keep you company and that's torture in itself.
You thought you could help him, change whatever hurts him and make it go away. That was your biggest mistake, you can't change a person that's not your duty , your duty was to support them through tough times and help them see the light at the end of the dark tunnel. A duty you solemnly swore to uphold even if he didn't liked you to. There's no fucking way you let him do that again, not if you can be there for him. Like he was always there for you, your big guardian with a guitar that spews flames in shape of songs.
-Y/n..
-Te rog, Sergiu. Nu ascunde. ("Please, Sergiu. Don't hide.")
Your eyes were desperate for him to talk it out in any shape or form. They implore for him to vent, to not hid between fake lies like " I am okay" or "I'm fine."
-Bine,bine. Tu ești șefa. ("Fine, fine. You're the boss.")
————————————————————
They talked and talked and cried and laughed and cried again. A never ending circle of venting ,small earthquakes which instead of fracturing the friendship , it onlyakes it stronger as it should.
-Te simți mai bine?("You feeling better?") Your voice ran timidly on the top of your apartment building, watching over the brutalist styled architecture.
("A little, it hurts you know but this shows how much I love her. True love for me doesn't mean to love just so they will love you back, no, to love someone without forcing them to love you back. To care for them, to protect them, to help them without being an egotistic, to love without expecting to be loved back.")
-Poetic.
He laughed at that , starring at the setting sun ,his lit cigar forgotten fumed between his painted fingers. His hair blown gently by the wind , he looked like a masterpiece.
-Scuze..pentru tot.("Sorry...for everything. ")
-N-ai de ce. Mi-ai făcut chec până la urmă așa că balanța eternă este restabilită.("You don't have a reason to be. You made me chek in the end and thus the eternal balance is restored.") You joked, munching quietly on the piece of cake, his jacket keeping you warm.
-Haha. Cine ar fi crezut că checul are fi o gustare bună când îți dai vent.("Haha. Who would have thought that chek will be a good snack when you vent.")
Indeed, who would have thought of that but one who cried in the sore days filled with heart ache.
————————————————————
Hey,guys!💖
Hope you like the third part of the serie, I wanted to focus on "your life" and your friends backgrounds this time. The translations are not 100% word to word but enought to give you context.
Anyway, I hope you like it. Stay safe!
