anytime i hear defense against pokemon criticism that amounts to “um the game cant have this because that’s difficult and time consuming to implement and that makes you entitled” its like. you are so close. youre so close to figuring out the problem

#like. pokemon is the biggest grossing company of all time their practices can and should be better #they can make great games. scivi when u look past the issues has phenomenal potential #but like. its being held back by the way they handle game development and businesspractices just for brand recognition #and you going ''ummmm dont ask for better bc thats asking for more pressure on thedevs'' doesnt really help things #echoed voice

WebサイトのURLをSNSなどで共有する際、長いURLを短縮してくれるURL短縮サービスは非常に便利です。そんなURL短縮サービスの一つである「Kutt.it」は、オープンソースで提供されており、誰でも簡単にURLを短縮できます。実際に使ってみたところ、本当にWebサイト上で簡単に短縮URLを生成でき、ブラウザ拡張機能やAPIも充実したとても使い勝手のいいサービスでした。 Kutt.it | Modern Open Source URL shortener. https://kutt.it/ GitHub - thedevs-network/kutt: Free Modern URL Shortener. https://github.com/thedevs-network/kutt Kutt.itのトップページにアクセスしてみます。全ての機能を使うためにはユーザー登録が必要なので、右上の「Login / Sign up」ボタンをクリック。

メールアドレスとパスワードを入力して「Sign up」を押します。

ページが変わり、認証メールを先ほど入力したメールアドレス宛に送信した旨のメッセージが表示されました。

届いたメールに記載されたURLをクリックすると、アカウントが認証されるので、「Back to homepage」をクリックしてホームに戻ります。

さっそくURLを短縮してみます。短縮したいURLを白いテキストボックスに入力し、紙飛行機マークのボタンをクリック。

短縮されたURLが表示されるので、「Copy」を押してクリップボードにURLをコピーします。

生成した短縮URLにアクセスしてみると……

無事ページが表示されました。

「Copy」ボタンの隣にあるQRコードボタンを押してみます。

短縮URLにアクセスできるQRコードが表示されました。スマホのカメラなどで読み取ってWebサイトにアクセスできます。

「Set custom URL」のボックスにチェックを入れると、通常はランダムで生成されるhttps://kutt.it/以降の文字列を自由に変更することが可能。

通常の短縮URLを生成する手順と同じく紙飛行機のボタンを押すと、こちらが指定した文字列で短縮URLが生成されました。短縮URLがすでに存在する場合は生成できないので注意が必要です。

「Set custom URL」のボックスにチェックを入れることで、短縮URLにアクセスした際にパスワードを要求する設定を行えます。テキストボックスにパスワードを入れ、通常手順と同じように短縮URLを生成。

生成されたURLにアクセスすると、パスワードの入力が求められました。先ほど設定したパスワードを入力することで、Webサイトにアクセスできます。

ページ下部では生成した短縮URLの履歴を確認することができ、ここからURLのコピーや削除を行うことができます。一度アクセスが生じたURLには「Stats」ボタンが現れます。

「Stats」ボタンをクリックすると、アクセス数のグラフが表示されるはずなのですが、ブラウザ環境が悪いのかグラフは表示されず、左上の「Total clicks」の数字も履歴ページのクリック数とは異なっています。同じような問題はGitHub上でも報告されており、何らかの不具合があるのかもしれません。 Stats not working for custom domains · Issue #200 · thedevs-network/kutt · GitHub https://github.com/thedevs-network/kutt/issues/200

Kutt.itではChromeとFirefoxの拡張機能も用意されているので、今回はChromeの拡張機能を試してみます。ホームページ下の「Download for Chrome」をクリックします。

Chrome ウェブストアが表示されたら「Chromeに追加」ボタンをクリック。

Chromeに拡張機能が追加されます。

追加された拡張機能のアイコンをクリックすると、APIキーの入力を求められました。

Kutt.itのホームページ右上の「Setting」ボタンをクリックします。

ページ下部へとスクロールすると「Generate Key」のボタンがあり、クリックするとAPIキーが生成されるので「Copy」ボタンでクリップボードにコピーして先ほどのAPI入力画面に入力します。

ブラウザ再起動後に拡張機能が使用できるようになります。使用方法はURLを短縮したいWebサイトの閲覧中に拡張機能のボタンを押すだけ。

「Setting」の項目では、APIキーの生成の他にも細かい設定を行うことができます。「Custom domain」の項目では、通常は「https://kutt.it/～」となる短縮後のURLを任意のドメインに変更したり、短縮URLが存在しない場合のリダイレクト先のWebサイトを設定したりすることが可能。

無料でドメインを取得できるNo-IPなどのサービスを使ってドメインを取得し、IPアドレスに「192.64.116.170」を割り当てることでKutt.itのカスタムドメインとして使用できるようになります。

「Change password」では、短縮URLのアクセスにパスワード入力を要求する場合のデフォルトパスワードを設定できます。

APIが公開されているので、自分で開発したソフトウェアでも簡単に利用ができます。
