today i watched The Wolf of Snow Hollow which was an absolute blast to watch and i'll keep an eye out on Jim Cummings' (not that one, a different one) future projects
he was the director and lead actor of this werewolf crime thriller and he was incredibly fun to watch. his character was a stressed-out, very-unpleasant-to-be-around cop, but the writing and acting made him into an incredibly enjoyable character to watch
the movie is heavy on stress because of how stressed the fuck out the main character is constantly all the time, but it also manages to have a lot of great comedic moments that are inserted very naturally
my face blindness did make the ending reveal a bit hard to understand tho bc i didn't recognize the killer lmfao god bless for ENDING EXPLAINED videos

The Wolf of Snow Hollow
I feel like I’m having an extreme autism moment here. This movie I just watched is listed as a ‘Comedy Horror’ and its called “The Wolf of Snow Hollow”... but... it’s not funny. And I don’t just mean in the sense of “Poorly written, bad jokes, humor never lands.” I mean it legitimately has no elements to imply it is a comedy.
If you told me this was a horror movie I’d nod and not really think too hard about this movie after watching it. There is nothing absurd about this movie. It’s fairly realistic. The lead character is an asshole but he’s also an alcoholic with anger management issues and the movie is basically him having a whole mental breakdown due to stress. There are no jokes, absolutely no details that even hint at an effort to be a comedy by any definition of the word.
Is it... like... being ironic? “See we called it a comedy... but it’s not comedic! Isn’t that hilarious!?”
I’m so baffled and it’s really pissing me off. Can someone offer any insights?

You ever just be conflicted about a Character?
SO!! I've been watching more movies again. More werewolf ones specifically! I watched Wer 2013 yesterday and today I watched The Wolf of Snow Hollow. I lowkey might've simped over the werewolf in Wer BUT I wanna talk about the second movie.
The movie itself is pretty decent! Besides a few confusing points that I missed (and got clarified by looking into the wiki), it was a fun watch! But, the issue is that I have mixed feelings about the protagonist, John Marshall.
John Marshall is a cop, a recovering alcoholic, and has anger issues. Already I want to say that I am ACAB and stand for BLM. With John, I just feel bad for his character? The man's struggling, and you can kind of see the influence from real life. People are valid for questioning the police, both in fiction and in reality.
John is a character I empathize with. He's a single father trying to handle stress and fight the addiction he's managed to have a hold of for so long. He's an asshole, but he means well. I would be anxious about him in reality, because he kind of reminds me of my personal life. This is where it kinda conflicts. I'm rooting for him but I feel bad for liking the character? I don't know. It does make me happy that in the end, he improves.
ALSO IM SORRY FOR THIS BEING MORE OF A RAMBLING PLACE-- you guys (if anyone's reading these) probably expect fanfics or something with me writing. WHICH IM CONTEMPLATING-- but anyways I like using this page as a way to ramble about my thoughts, especially when I don't really know who to talk to. So thanks for listening, I guess :)

The Wolf of Snow Hollow: Directed by Jim Cummings. With Jim Cummings, Riki Lindhome, Robert Forster, Chloe East. Terror grips a small mountain town as bodies are discovered after each full moon. Losing sleep, raising a teenage daughter, and caring for his ailing father, officer Marshall struggles to remind himself there's no such thing as werewolves.
