The Popular Girl Falls for the Quiet Writer in Yuri Manga 'The Summer You Were There'
The first volume of Yuama's Yuri manga, The Summer You Were There (Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata), is now available in English digitally and in paperback. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga.
The publisher describes the series:
Shizuku is a shy girl who hardly talks to other people. Instead, she loses herself in creative writing, crafting a novel that she never plans to show anyone. But when Kaori–Shizuku’s cute, popular classmate–gets her hands on Shizuku’s manuscript, everything changes. Kaori is a huge fan, and suggests that Shizuku can get inspiration for her writing if the two of them start dating! Can these very different young ladies create their own love story together?
The Summer You Were There incorporates fake dating and other school Yuri tropes, including trauma and tragedy, along with characters influenced by genre archetypes.
The manga debuted in Comic Yuri Hime in May 2020. Ichijinsha collects the series in four volumes, the most recent of which was released in August.
Yuama is a Japanese Yuri artist. She has contributed to multiple official and doujinshi anthologies, including Doujin Onna Yuri, Kanade Aoharu Band Yuri, Konna Joshi wo Gyutte Shitai!, and the Love Live! Sunshine!! official comic anthology. The Summer You Were There is her second serialized series, following The Girl I Want is So Handsome! (Ikemen Sugidesu Shiki-senpai!) which was serialized in Comic Yuri Hime from 2018 to 2019. Seven Seas Entertainment also licenses The Girl I Want is so Handsome!, publishing it in a single omnibus volume.
Seven Seas Entertainment will release the second volume of The Summer You Were There in December.
