Ok fuck it you know something I've never really quite understood about part of the Leftist vs Liberals debate on voting.

So so so many people act like its either-or. Like you're either dedicating your entire life to voting and promoting politicians and phone banking or whatever, or you're a True Rebel waiting for The Uprising to Come and Solve Everything.

But like. In my experience. Me voting is just me kinda go 'which person seems kinda good? Which one at least sucks the least? ok lemme go vote.' and then its anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops of my life. And I still have plenty of time to do Stuff and participate in Conversations about Other Important Things. And also you can admit and acknowledge and understand that the system As Is kinda sorta really sucks ass, but also still admit and acknowledge and understand that at this current point in time we are still living in the suckass system and do something to alleviate the suckass At Least A Little while also working to bolster/create/advocate for Other Systems.

I guess just like. it's not a black or white thing. Between 'top 500 volunteers for a specific politician/voting office/etc' and 'absolutely positively not voting at all' there is a gray area called 'vote and then just do other stuff'.

#out of queue #ani rambles #ani rant #now hang on its time to acknowledge my Privilege(TM)#the first few times I ever voted for anything I was in college and the student center was a voting center #so asides from waiting in a long (~30 minute tops bc early vote) line to get in I didn't have to do a big drive or anything #and at my house there's a voting center thats a like 5 minute drive from my place or a 10 minute drive depending on what election it is #and im ablebodied and have a open (read: jobless) schedule so I can Just Go for the most part #i live in a City so there's probs lots of voting centers at churches and libraries and all across town too #but like. some people act like people saying Hey Go Vote Plz are screaming like #'if you don't donate 200 dollars and 4+ weeks of your time to canvassing and calling and volunteering you are RUINING AMERICA'#when at least from what I've seen its just like. 'can you maybe go fill in a bubble on a Scantron so people like me don't Die Faster.'#also there's early voting and mail-in voting and all that jazz like yeah the current system makes it harder to vote but theres still W AYS #you don't gotta pull up at 6am on Election Day Tuesday yknow?#if i get blasted for this remember as I was: happy and rambling at 3am about greenhouses and solarpunk stuff #plz be nice i beg k bye

i really really want to be home and sleep in my own bed and do my little edmonton things and stuff but also tabling for work is starting up again and im like myyyrrrhhgh the idea of going to the science centre for the adult night within a week of my return just makes me So Tired in my SOUL

it's kind of silly how the rise of consumerism makes you just feel discontent not spending money. as if everything else about an enjoyable life is secondary to 'going out' and acquiring new things.

we always say, "I wanna go OUT and DO STUFF but I'm BROKE till next week..." with the implication being, "guess I'll just have to stay home, take care of myself, rest, possibly cook a nice meal/snack, indulge in a hobby, tidy my living space".... like oh no... the horror... of all these options... lol

#BLOGGING LOUDLY #obviously it is good and often necessary to go out and do things tm #to get Enrichment from outside your immediate bubble or comfort zone etc #but to be real. most of the time 'going out' is just hitting up the mall to get a drink or snack or see a movie #OR its driving out to LA to pay way too much for parking and food. wandering around some outlet mall or another.#and then eventually leaving because you're out of money #and tbh neither of those things is really appealing to me tbh!#this is just because of like small city living and working full time and so your friends moved away etc makes it #difficult to just go out for the sake of socializing in a nice setting #but i think it applies to most people doing the 9-5 thing or even full time retail. not easy to get everyone's schedules to agree #so you just don't ever see eachother!#so you're only left with the first two options lol

just a little sad noises post which may get deleted but

i'm in wanting to trying to but can't really write moment. and it ssucks cause I wanna! but also im just soooo tired. work is a lot (more markets, more creative deadlines) so having a weekend where i can do nothing and not create is so valuable yet here i am beating myself up about it lol. anyway idk why i feel so upset and guilty abt this? but welp . im just really exhausted and near tears over it

#tomorrow i slide into a 7 day work week #ending in a 2 day convention #then i get like one (1) day off before i have to hit the decks runnning again and its all oh i make my own schedule i can take breaks??#but if the work doesn't get done #if the art/product isn't done by the deadlines i don't have that art/product later down the line and i don't get paid #so yeah today i have beaten myself up about not writing a bunch of times but lol i need to be kinder #so instead i made this post and writing it out im like yes actually #its fine if you wanna girl lay down and read fic all day #so thats what im gonna do #sorry this is a mini emotional moment TM i will probably delete #just needed to get out the stress
