John Singer Sargent (American, 1856-1925) • Portrait of Louise Pomeroy Inches • 1887 • Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Tumblr media
Evening Dress • Unidentified Maker • American • Silk velvet with silk plain weave lining
Tumblr media
How wonderful that such a well-preserved dress exists to enliven a famous portrait painting! This dress is one of my favorites for a couple of reasons – firstly, I love velvet and this silk velvet is the real deal – gorgeous. Secondly, I've seen the portrait many times at the MFA in Boston. The dress was in a glass case at the blockbuster Fashioned by Sargent exhibition also at the MFA.
I've read that Louise Inches was expecting her third child when she sat for this portrait and that the dress had been designed to accommodate extra panels as her figure expanded. She and Sargent got on well. Both were music lovers and accomplished musicians.

Any thoughts on Karen Strassman? She played Olivia, Anna (of all kinds) and Hana!
Outside of it, she’s the current voice for Rouge the Bat, Aigis from Persona 3 and Nanako from Persona 4.
I've gotta put this out there, because any time I bring up an actor/actress who isn't totally left wing, I get messages telling me why said actor/actress is the spawn of Satan and I shouldn't like them. It happened with Amanda Miller (Someone who isn't even right wing) and it happened the last time I brought up Karen Strassman.
So again: I literally do not care about an actor/actress's politics, whether they're left or right wing. I care that they're not harming someone (i.e. Daman Mills) or being an asshole (Helena Taylor). This isn't a left or right thing, I just simply DO NOT care about someone's politics. And if people want to block me for saying that, that's totally fine and I have no hard feelings.
ANYWHO.
I like Karen! I like her role as Olivia (Who I'm surprised was pretty popular for a while and then just dropped off the face of the earth when it came to alts), I like her work as Anna... And while I actually don't like Hana's character, I do like her work as Hana. And outside of that, I adore her Nanako (as someone who got deeply invested when I played P4Golden), and I actually think she's a good Rouge, even though Kathleen Delaney was more my favorite. And I can't wait until Mozu gets added to FEH. Something tells me she'll show up on the next Fates banner.
Performance! I think her performance as Olivia between her pegasus alt and her Festival Arts alt is interesting; in the former, she's much more shy and timid (gives me big Fluttershy vibes), while she seems to feel very comfortable and more confident in the latter. It's an interesting distinctive tonal switch between the two. For the two variations of Anna in FEH so far (Commander Anna and Awakening Anna), there's a difference in their emotions that conveys what is the most important reason for each Anna to be earning money: For the commander, it's to keep funding the Order of Heroes, so she's a bit more serious and doesn't really talk as much about the money itself, more about the Order's funds in general. For Fates, it's to personally get rich, so she usually sounds mischievous and charismatic, to draw people in. I think it would actually be fun someday to have a full Anna banner as an April Fool's joke with the Annas that aren't in the game yet: Tellius Anna, Fates Anna, Fodlan Anna, etc. And finally, Hana. I think her voice for Hana is good, but... Something happened to the way she was pronouncing Sakura's name between her Ninja alt and her Valentine's alt. In her Ninja alt, she pronounces it correctly, but in her Valentine's alt, she goes "Sa-Koo-Ra". But then in her Ninja alt, she also pronounces Kagero's name weirdly too. I blame less of that on Karen and more of that on the voice director; they're the ones who are supposed to know the correct pronunciations of the names and should be guiding the VAs on how to say them right. Still a good portrayal for Hana though, she's energetic and a little spicy sometimes. Just makes me wish her support in Fates wasn't so unreasonable ("How dare you make Lady Sakura cry by getting kidnapped!" Like bro, WHAT?! Corrin watched their surrogate father get bombarded with arrows he shielded them from, then get slashed. How is any of that a literal child's fault?!).
I think she's a good fit for all three of the characters. Just... fix her pronunciation issues as Hana and we're all good.
However, when it comes to range... Look, as a general actress, I know that Karen has range. Her sultry voice for Rouge compared to her child voice for Nanako are pretty decent. But in FEH, I'll be honest: you can pretty easily tell that Karen voices all three, and Hana and Anna sound pretty similar to each other. So for FEH, I'll say the range is not really there.
Overall, I'd put Karen at an 8/10. I still don't know why they replaced her in Engage (And I don't know if that means that Monica will be playing child Anna when she gets added or if Karen will take over as child Anna), but as an actress I enjoy her work.

So I am still thinking about Gym Leader!Lucina and I thought up a whole bunch of random quotes for her to speak during the story. You know, instead of a oneshot or a series of headcanons or something more normal lol.
Under the cut because I have many.
About Her Gym Challenge
“Beware trying to bring Steel-types against me. Battling my father has given me plenty of experience in countering them.”
“By any chance, have you already obtained the Smith Badge? …Ah, it’s just that that’s my father’s badge. He taught me everything I know about Pokémon battling, so it makes me a bit self-conscious when I face someone who’s beaten him. Perhaps I should just stop asking beforehand, heh…”
“Wow… I concede. You’re quite something. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so euphoric after a loss before. Very well! The Morning Badge is proudly yours.”
About Her Pokémon
“Fairies are a motley group. Some - like my partner Togekiss - embody joy, kindness, and peace. Others are full of mischief and even malice. Then there are those who simply love sugar more than anything else. Heheh… Sorry, I’m just amused by the thought of a terrible, world-annihilating dragon being obliterated by a pastry chef.”
“Fairy-types are resistant to Bug-type attacks, a trait which I wished carried over to… Er, never mind.”
About Friends and Family
“Do you like my outfit? A longtime friend helped design it. I would have opted for some bolder color choices - some bright red polka dots, a glittery golden trim on the wings, perhaps a likeness of Togepi stitched into the breast… But she tells me that few appreciate my sense of style. …Well, she had a more blunt choice of words, but…”
“Do you participate in Super Contests? …Aha! I thought I saw you on the stage recently. I don’t partake myself, but I admit to being a fan of the Dance Master. Have you met him? He’s surprisingly shy off-stage!”
“I wonder where my cousin is now. When he’s not shouting about myths and legends, he’s chasing them down. He wants to emulate our great-grandfather, but I don’t think he was so bombastic…”
“Father really said all of that about me!? Goodness, I don’t think I could be more embarrassed! I told him to stop that! *Sigh…* Sorry, I know I ought to be grateful to have a father who spoils me, especially as we have a family friend who… doesn’t.”
“You’re heading to the Pokémon League now, right? Could you send the Psychic specialist our regards? They’re our most treasured friend, and we both miss them. Admittedly, you’re giving them some competition… but don’t tell them I said that, hehe.”
About the World’s Perils
“I hate to drag you into this, but could you assist me? Team Dread grunts are pushovers on their own, but their numbers are staggering, and they like their Poison-types recently…”
“This Team Dread boggles the mind… How could anyone come to believe this world ought to be laid to waste, just because some dusty old book said so?”
“There’s a particularly frightening dragon Pokémon that’s said to reside somewhere near Origin Peak. I wonder if it’s the ‘dreadful dragon’ depicted in the story of the heroic Sylveon?“

“My, my, what have we here?” Aversa chuckled darkly as she caught sight of the archer, crossing her legs (and showing off her wide thighs in the process. “I was wondering when you were going to approach me, Niles. Ever since you’ve arrived in Askr, you’ve been eyeing me quite a bit, and don’t think I didn’t notice.” That was saying quite a lot, considering he had only one with which to do it. “Or were you just hoping I would?”
The Dark Flier’s voice dropped into a low, husky tone, almost sounding like she was on the verge of moaning out every single word that slipped from her lips. “You’ve been quite interested in me it would seem...or is it perhaps...” Aversa shifted a little bit where she sat, intentionally bringing her chest just a little closer to him, “...an interest in something very specific about me? Don’t be shy, handsome. I’m a woman who knows how to take a compliment or two.” There was a sudden emphasis on the word ‘two,’ as if to be as suggestive as possible about what specifically she meant. But that was only natural, as suggestive was one of the things Aversa did best...when she wasn’t being as bluntly and overtly sexual as possible. Whichever one she went for really depended on her mood and present company, though.

(For the Fates questions) 11, 26, 28, 36?
11. what do you feel is underappreciated about fates?
the music, for one. no one ever talks about it and it's a travesty. i also think the character designs and just. general aesthetics (character design, world design, etc) of the game are really well done! each route feels separate from one another, even though they share a lot of maps between the three of them.
i'm sad the rest of the game doesn't live up to the aesthetics, though. it does keep me up at night.
26. your favorite cool details?
i think one of my favorite details is the different units between hoshido and nohr!! and the weapons too; like i said fates does a really good job at making the routes feel distinct from one another.
i also really liked some of the map designs. i know like. mechanically a lot of them are really tedious and annoying, but i'm an aesthetics person. i'm really partial to the 3ds pixel sprites (another cool detail i really like!!! bring them back!)
28. who did you marry the first time?
birthright — kaze (he saved my life <333)
conquest — keaton
revelations — hinata
honestly not sure who i'm going to marry in my girlboss run (it doesn't really matter since i can't use kana lol). maybe izana.
36. what's a fates alt you want in heroes?
LEGENDARY XANDER. please intsys he's suffered enough just let him have it
also not necessarily an alt, but i think takumi should get another refine. make up for the absolute garbage one he has now. i just want my blorbo to be somewhat viable for the meta is that so much to ask
speaking of alts actually i wish they'd bring back the hoshido festival banner again with new heroes!! it was a really good banner (it had ryoma, xander, elincia, and micaiah), and the art was absolutely gorgeous. idk who i'd want on it but i do want the concept
the one thing i don't want is like. a fates kids banner or w/e. not child units, but like. baby fates. the idea was fun for shadow dragon's anniversary but now it's just. idk i'm not a fan.
okay final alt thing. i want another takumi alt. more content for my blorbo pls he deserves it

You call her Grima! Yet it’s a picture of Robin! So that means the grimas in game shouldn’t need to be counted as Robin alts and can be their own character with their own name!
Anyway it was funny I had my fRobin against her, though I almost lose.

Give a Man a Mask
The man who caught Aziraphale’s eye was lounging rather indecorously on one of the many benches lining the walls of the ballroom. He (because despite every inch of them being covered, Aziraphale was sure it was a he) wore a well-tailored black velvet suit jacket that fit snuggly over a black waistcoat intricately embroidered with gunmetal filigree. Underneath the waistcoat, Aziraphale could just make out a black shirt and a flash of burgundy lace at the man’s throat. Black leather gloves laced up around his wrists, and matching knee-high boots fit snuggly over the man's fitted black trousers.
Aziraphale sighed with envy. He could never pull off something like that.
Of course - he told himself - it wasn’t the man necessarily that had caught his eye. It was the clothing; he had always noticed and admired fine clothing, and his outfit really was exquisitely made.
Besides, it was hard not to notice someone who had dressed in such stark contrast to the rest of the guests. It seemed everyone else was dressed to excess, resplendent in feathers and lace, gemstones and pearls. This man’s costume, by contrast, was downright modern; minimal but striking, yet still in keeping with Carnivale. The handstitched leather Plague Doctor mask beneath a black tricorn hat completed the look. It should have looked offputting, really...
It did not.
The man looked less like a man, Aziraphale thought, and more like a long black shadow curving against the wall. Aziraphale popped a fritelle into his mouth and chewed it slowly before swallowing.
If he was honest with himself (which he would prefer not to be, all things considered) he knew what had really attracted his attention; there was something about him - the lazy confidence evident in the way he was sitting, or the dark clothing perhaps - that made him think of Crowley. He hadn’t seen the demon in a few years, and although he was absolutely loathe to admit it even within the privacy of his own mind, he did rather miss him.
Well. He missed him and worried about him in equal parts. Handing over the thermos of Holy Water a few years before had certainly ramped up his anxiety.
He was extremely glad of his full-face volto mask as he watched the figure out of the corner of his eye. He popped another fritelle into his mouth under the mask, chewed, and swallowed with a little groan of pleasure. They really were delicious.
The Plague Doctor swiveled to face him as if he had heard him, and although there was no possible way the stranger could have heard anything of the sort from across the crowded ballroom, Aziraphale blushed ferociously. The heat of it was almost unbearable behind his full-face mask.
He turned his body away from the man, staring down at the sweet delights laid out on the banquet table, and tried very hard to ignore what felt like a heated stare. He gazed down at the galani, his mouth suddenly dry.
Although he was almost expecting it, the dark presence at his elbow a moment later made him start.
“Buonasera, come sta?” said the Plague Doctor in perfect Italian, tipping his hat in a quick formal bow.
Aziraphale had been right about it being a man.
He jerked back at the greeting, startled by the man’s sudden proximity, and scrambled for a reply.
“Oh! Buonasera!” Aziraphale could think of nothing else to say. He cringed behind his mask and wondered if he could miracle his way out of a conversation that was embarrassing before it had even begun.
The Plague Doctor was wearing a zendale beneath his tricorn, and the silk hood concealed every part of his head not covered by mask or hat. He tilted his head, looking like a curious raven, and rested both his gloved hands on top of a cane Aziraphale hadn’t noticed before. His tight grip - Aziraphale could see his knuckles straining against the leather of his gloves - obscured most of what looked like a beautifully carved gunmetal handle.
He looked up. The large eyesockets of the mask were filled with dark glass lenses, revealing absolutely nothing. Aziraphale smoothed down his more traditional costume. The cream and white concoction with gold embroidery and an abundance of lace ruffles had rather delighted him when he’d stepped out this morning, but it felt quite indulgent next to this austere creature.
“I trust you are enjoying yourself?” said the Plague Doctor in an extremely thick Italian accent, leaning forward on his cane so that the beak of his mask almost punctured his bubble of personal space.
“Oh yes, very much so!” Aziraphale nodded, wondering what had drawn this man to his side and how he could possibly reverse it. For all that he had been intrigued before, he hadn’t intended to actually engage the stranger in conversation. There was something extremely unsettling about him up close. Perhaps it was the costume, or the way he was standing; it was patient, watchful, almost… predatory.
Aziraphale shuddered, and the Plague Doctor’s head tilted the other way, making it clear he had noticed.
“Va bene, Signore?” Are you well?
Aziraphale nodded quickly. “Oh yes… Sto bene!” I am well. There was a brief pause while he summoned up formal Italian and hurriedly added a thank you. “La ringrazio!”
The Plague Doctor nodded. “How did you come to be here?” The words came low and slow, and Aziraphale felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up, his skin prickling with awareness.
He had always had a bit of a weakness for the Italian accent.
“It was suggested to me by the concierge at my hotel,” he smiled, even though the man couldn’t see it. “He thought I might enjoy it, and he was right! I am enjoying it tremendously! The food alone...!" He made an appreciative noise. "How did you…? Are you local to the area?”
A slight tilt of the head as if the Plague Doctor were considering his question. It was surprising how demonstrative he was able to be without a single facial expression.
“Not exactly,” he said, and Aziraphale thought he could hear a smile in his voice, “Although for tonight... Certo. If you like.”
The man swept into a much deeper, more theatrical bow than before. The black feather in his hat almost grazed Aziraphale’s chest. “This is my palazzo - my festa - and I am your host for the evening. You are…” he said, and straightened, holding out his hand. When Aziraphale hesitated, the man crooked his fingers impatiently and for some reason Aziraphale obeyed, quickly placing his white silk-gloved hand in the man’s leather-clad grip.
“... You are extremely welcome here,” the man finished, bringing Aziraphale's knuckles to his mask.
It didn’t seem to matter that there were no lips there to brush against his hand; Aziraphale felt it as if the man had kissed his knuckles open-mouthed. A dart of something hot and unutterable shot through him, flared up and burnt out, thankfully vanishing before Aziraphale had time to recognise it and panic.
“Yes. Well. Thank you. La ringrazio,” he said, feeling flustered.
“No need for such formality, Signore,” the Plague Doctor said warmly, tugging his hand without warning to bring them shoulder to shoulder. He tucked Aziraphale’s arm into the crook of his elbow and patted his hand as if to reassure him that it was alright.
Aziraphale thought that it was probably not alright.
Surely it was not alright to walk arm in arm with a total stranger? Surely there was something morally grey about taking a turn with a mortal Italian dandy who apparently owned a palazzo and, by extension, the many sweet treats Aziraphale had been helping himself to throughout the evening?
If nothing else, surely he should feel some guilt or shame about enjoying the closeness of a stranger who reminded him so much of Crowley?

[Fanservant] Pan-Human-History Fairy King Oberon
Tumblr media
PHH Fairy King Oberon
Class: Ruler
PROFILE
Default:
The great fairy king and the ruler of the Seelie court. Different from his Lostbelt counterpart who was born as a doomsday terminal, this fairy king lives just to enjoy life and be happy.
Although he was born as the elven king Alberich from the Germanic folklore Nibelungenlied, as time progresses, he has incarnated into a more famous portrayal from Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night Dream". He loves fame and attention, he doesn't mind shedding his old shell to become a more resplendent butterfly.
He is very capable in combat and holds a great strength, capable of controlling the nature and weather even from a change of mood. Because of his overwhelming strength, he's used to toying with his enemies and underestimating them. He prefers to summon his fae servants to fight for him while he watches from a fair distance with a benevolent (cruel) smile.
Tumblr media
Bond 1:
Height/Weight: 183cm, 60kg (not counting antlers)
Origin: Germanic folklore, medieval European literature
Region: Britain (formerly), Avalon
Alignment: Chaotic-Neutral
Gender: Male
"My my, dearest, pray tell, why are you staring at me with that innocent, doe-eyed eyes look of yours... are you that astonished at how different I am to that pathetic, washed-out mimicry?
As expected, not a single being in any realm could come close to my greatness after all. Of course, there's a limit to what playing pretend could do... Now, come sit beside me. I would love to hear what you think of me."
A flirty, unrestrained, and outgoing monarch. Oberon has gathered a lot of lovers from varying races in his lifetime, and he's still open into adding more to his harem.
Tumblr media
Bond 2:
While he loves gathering beautiful people for himself, he also takes great enjoyment in playing matchmaker and seeing other people's relationship develop, for the best or the worst.
A complete opposite from his other self who appreciates and finds value in everything, this Oberon does not bother attaching meaning in anything he chases. He doesn't view relationships and connections as something that should be cherished, for in the infamous Shakespearian play, his wife has proven to still love him no matter what he does.
He has a great many desires but his motives seem to be empty and short-sighted. As seen in the play, he gave his queen, Titania, a love potion to prank her without thinking much of what will happen after its effects wore off. He received no consequences for his actions and the story eventually brushed aside the quarrel that they had, further enabling his behavior. To him, there never seemed to be a problem that came his way or a moment in the story that criticized his faulty mindset.
His appetite for the world is unquenchable, as he views everything in it as worthy of enjoyment. He seeks to collect everything that shines before his eyes, yet as his collection grows, so does his dissatisfaction. What motives he has to obtain them are but a momentary fancy, but due to his own frivolous nature, he's fundamentally incapable of realizing and fulfilling his desire for a genuine attachment
Oberon lives as any pan-human history fairies will do, living life as he pleases.
Tumblr media
Bond 3:
Being one of the great-father of the fae realm, Oberon, who came from the inner sea of the planet and has no connection with human civilization, is very connected to nature.
This can be seen with his appearance, a large beautiful antlers that attracts birds and insects to land on it, and legs resembling a stag. his outfit and a flowery cloak that is magically created by his fae servants. He’s adorned with jewelries from humans who gave him offering as a way to pass his territory safely. In some legend his pearls are made out of maiden’s tears.
with a face that is blessed to be forever beautiful, he is a king that is fitting to rule the fae realm.
Without his beloved queen Titania to accompany him, he took in her role and personality. He developed more gentle, nurturing, almost motherly role to the fairies around him.
As long there’s nature around him, he could give birth to new fairies on a whim using little bit of mana from his Fairy Patterns. He sires many children from that method of reproduction alone but he also took enjoyment in creating them with others. Such as his consorts and random human maidens.
In some legends he have another famous fairy queen besides Titania, named queen Mab
Bond 4:
Oberon was horrified and amused upon finding out about his other self. A pretend prince in rags and naught a kingdom to speak of. A solitary, spineless insect who is content to forever stare at the star above him instead of dragging it down for himself.
Oberon can't wrap his mind on the way his other self sees the world, and while he agrees that stories should not be forgotten, he thinks they should rightfully be enjoyed forever, else they don't qualify as something interesting. In that case, they might as well be obsolete in his eyes.
In the end he took great enjoyment in observing his other self, and wouldn't even mind extending his affections toward him.
After all, he is still his beloved's master compatriot.
Bond 5:
Though his favor is true in a sense, his seeming infatuation with the Chaldean master urges him to act as though he's madly in love with them. In truth, he initially sees them as a form of entertainment, something to satisfy his curiosity and burgeoning envy as to why his other self-took so much liking towards them.
His yearning for the fictitious Titania might perhaps be even stronger than that of Oberon Vortigern's, for he sees Titania as his rightful wife in the myth, unlike Oberon Vortigern who is simply a pretender. As time goes on, his desperation to have a genuine affection for his master grows, leading him to question why their relationship with his other self seems to flourish more than it does with him. He's failed to understand that his connection with his master is fundamentally different, as the relationship between his other self and the Chaldean master have been forged through a long journey together in Lostbelt Britain.
Despite his strong longing for a true love, he doesn't put much effort in trying to find it nor is his attachment to that desire strong enough to make him hate Pan Human History.
"After all, the world is a beautiful place filled with enjoyment, what would be the point in destroying such things?"
The world is but a playground to him, in the end.
big thanks to my friend @lamunana who helps me brainstorm his lore, write her own ideas and even fix my grammar!

Hello, can you review resplendent Ishtar ?
YES! Another Suzuki Rika Resplendent and I'd love to. Though I do have some criticisms, but I still love it.
Resplendent Ishtar, as I mentioned, drawn by Suzuki Rika:
Tumblr media
Okay so firstly, Suzuki Rika was SO CLOSE with the design. The buckles, the straps, the vivid cape, the additional straps on the shoulder pauldrons. But like I mentioned before, there's too much clothing covering Ishtar up. I'd actually argue giving her a diamond-shaped belly window would follow the Jotunnheimr visuals and crank up the incorporation score. Additionally, I'd turn the bottom part of the skirt into a thigh-high on both sides, like a middle-cloth skirt.
Artwork is still gorgeous. Resplendent Ishtar's attack pose is one of the strongest mage poses in the game.
In a weird way, I kind of understand the choice to use Jotunnheimr... I think. She's lightning themed, and lightning is a very strong elemental theme. But I still don't think it's the most fitting choice. Again, Jotunnheimr relies on physical strength, and Ishtar is very delicate looking. I'd argue she'd be better fit for Ljosalfheimr or Dokkalfheimr outfits.
But overall, it's a solid 8/10. It's mostly carried by Suzuki's amazing skills.
