My 14 yr old brother called me an 'english teacher (derogatory)' last night at dinner for jokingly pointing out that our mother likes the pixar movie Cars because it follows the same narrative structure as a hallmark movie. ....Fellas....are you a highschool english teacher for making very basic thematic connections between pieces of media?? As a joke???
Not to be An Old Person at the tender age of 27 but 'the curtains are blue' anti-intellectual discourse, esp prevalent on social media, has done infinite and potentially irreparable damage to these kids and their reading comprehension + critical thinking skills

I wish my mom would stop joking about how she wants to "find an arranged marriage for me" because "at this rate you're never going to find anyone" or "a man who tolerates you" I alr feel easily replaceable and unwanted and unlovable and it really doesn't help when she says these things and constantly mentions my younger brother(s), who are ready to get married soon and I feel the constant pressure to accept just anyone when in reality the reason why I haven't is because they're hounding me constantly whenever I mention the concept of being in a relationship. They want me married but don't want me to leave home. They want me married but don't like the idea of me dating or being men. They want me married but not to accept the concept of me feeling attraction to someone. They want me married but never to fly the nest or have independence of my own and I'm sick I'm so sick of constantly being told or even joked about that a man is going to have to "tolerate" me. thanks a lot.

*opens neglected save file that already has several paused pregnancies (at least a year IRL)...to find out another random townie is pregnant with your most wholesome married sim's baby*
Ya'll legit been creepin, while I've been sleepin huh?
Of all the damn townies I made over, you decide to choose the most hideous one that generated with every piece of cc. REALLY? The one with the pink bussdown, blonde eyebrows, bucky nekkid with only a bra on, snow boots, that's carrying an umbrella in the dead of winter, while swingin' that damn Telfar bag around as she casually strolls through the city...
Because...NOT TODAY! 😩

trick or treat!!!!
Gummy!!! 🫶 here’s a candy for you 🍬
“It’s very dangerous for you girls to go in there alone.”
Uh...excuse me?
Like they couldn’t handle this one mission themselves? Kayano bit her tongue, willing herself to ignore that spark of indignance. This entire mission was dangerous from the get-go, they knew that coming in. What difference was it now?
Can’t he just trust us? Kayano wondered bitterly. And why put so much pressure on one of their 15-year old male classmates?!
Ah, I’m doing it again. Venting and screaming inside her head, every particle of her body begging to let it out. But she couldn’t, not if she wanted to remain Kaede Kayano. A joke. An innocent girl. Someone who couldn’t be relied on for anything. Someone who should stay away from dangerous things.
Screw that!

Saw this prompt for incorrect OC quotes and couldn't resist with a bunch of my Breach goobers. Some of them would absolutely say these things word for word in canon if I gave them half the chance to, though. XD
They're in order of when they showed up in person - Qīng, Ghost, Red, Marisol, Shio, Cam, Daruk, Tawoos, and Alondra - as well as some important honorable mentions who have only been mentioned or gotten dialogue - Star, Blake, and Creation.
Star's design is a slight spoiler, I suppose, but it doesn't reveal if they're human or impostor, so it's all good. Creation's "design" also isn't a spoiler at all, because They can look however They want, LOL. As for Shio...some of you who have seen the body horror I've done of them may be wondering why they look so normal here, but I promise there are Reasons. :3c
In other news, will I be making a liar out of Shio in an upcoming Breach canon divergence? ..........Maybe~ >:3c

Thinking about how Lark and Normal had such different reactions to what they saw on the throne and how ‘Larks’ entire monologue was about how it was all his fault, about how Lark blames himself for everything that has happened, and earlier in the series Sparrow refers to ‘what they did’ but Lark says it’s what he did
Thinking about how when Henry touches Lark on the throne he feels Love, Confusion, Betrayal, Sadness and Anger.
How Anthony says that he looks at Lark and sees sadness and self hatred in his eyes
How in Anthony’s monologue the Doodler specifically feels Lark’s self hatred and resentment. How it’s that that grows into the resentment for everything in the world.
It’s your fault and everything is bad- and it’s obviously not just the Doodler that feels that way
About how the Doodler looks at humanity as it’s dad, but also it resents humanity as much as it loves it and wants it’s validation
These flashhbacks are only a few years post season 1- sure he’s older but he is still a literal child being confronted by the weight of these emotions from an eldritch being that directly parallel so much of what he’s gone through and actively stem from the choices he made
Does he say they have to kill it because he knows what it’s like to feel this way? Because he knows what that rage and resentment feel like to him, a human being, and knows what it grew into for him, and can you imagine how much worse it is coming from the Doodler? They can’t risk not stopping it and the surest way to do that is to kill it?
Does he say it because killing the Doodler is the only way he’ll be able to forgive himself for releasing it? To make sure this can never happen again, by getting rid of it completely?
Or does he say it because he can’t imagine a way to help it? It’s just something he can’t comprehend, there’s no other way to end it, there is no happy ending.
And Normal now is the age that Lark was then, and he’s going through it too but in a completely different way! Normal is also dealing with a lot of incredibly complicated feelings, especially regarding his parental figures. He’s darker than he was at the start of the series, but all he wants is to be loved respected for who he is.
And maybe it makes a difference, but he has a support system that’s not just one person (Sparrow for Lark)! He has friends, and people to talk to and he still has so much hope for himself and compassion for the world, so of course that’s going to extend to the Doodler. This entire time the teens have been saying they need to find another way, that they can’t doom a whole planesworth of people just to save their home
So like. Why wouldn’t that extend to the doodler, now that they know it’s an option??

Just in case you guys are unclear on what happened yesterday (June 23rd, 2022) with Vega v. Tekoh (aka the Supreme Court ruling that means you can no longer sue a cop for not reading you your Miranda rights), here's what occurred in that case and what it means for us:
[T]he court backtracked substantially on its Miranda promise. In Vega, the court held 6-3 (over an excellent dissent by Justice Elena Kagan) that an individual who is denied Miranda warnings and whose compelled statements are introduced against them in a criminal trial cannot sue the police officer who violated their rights, even where a criminal jury finds them not guilty of any crime. By denying people whose rights are violated the ability to seek redress under our country’s most important civil rights statute, the court has further widened the gap between the guarantees found in the Bill of Rights and the people’s ability to hold government officials accountable for violating them.
Last April, the ACLU and the Cato Institute filed an amicus brief in support of Terence Tekoh, who had been subjected to an illegal interrogation. At trial, Tekoh testified that he was simply doing his job as a Certified Nursing Assistant when Carlos Vega, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy, isolated him in a small, windowless room and refused others’ entry. Vega then proceeded to interrogate Tekoh, alleging that he had molested a patient while transporting her. Vega threatened Tekoh with violence, flashing his gun. He threatened Tekoh, an immigrant, that he and his family members would face deportation to the country they had fled in fear of persecution, and called him a racial slur. Again, according to Tekoh, Vega would not permit him to leave the room, and ignored Tekoh’s pleas to see a lawyer or talk to his coworkers and supervisors. (source)
In other words, the cops are still technically obligated to read you those rights, but if they don't — and obtain valuable evidence against you in the process — there is nothing you can legally do to prosecute them anymore. In essence, don't talk to cops. No matter what they say to you. They lie. And this is important to acknowledge now more than ever, especially in light of today's decision regarding the overturn of Roe v. Wade (1973). Stay safe, everyone.
