As someone who normally isnt really into oneshots- this was actually so fucking good???? What was originally pitched as a pretty basic premise- a murder mystery oneshot- managed to become a pretty compelling and at the end genuinely emotional story, and left me wishing that we get to revisit the characters one day. Props to everyone involved- Fauna giving the illusion of being 'the sane one' but managing to constantly make everything worse for herself- Manoel constantly flipping between different accusations, all the reveals about Bruce's character (trying to keep this as vague and spoiler free as possible), and not to mention all of them being Kind Of Stupid, but throughout it all the plot never got too off track (haha get it) and everything seemed to come full circle by the end. Especially props to Ranboo- I remember back in the osmp days they mentioned wanting to dm a oneshot, and its so cool that it finally happened!

god fucking dammit, Charlie slimecicle did it again: “Bruce Trayne” is a Bruce Wayne pun, I’m so stupid. I was playing minecraft whilst watching the oneshot and I was wholly ready to accept a vigilante arc out of nowhere but it was literally there from the beginning I’m just an idiot

I just finished watching The Mystery Of The Train. Holy shit. Holy shit.
Spoilers below
That’s classic Ranboo, their talent for writing tragic characters is unmatched (and the mimic without a doubt is shaped from the mould of a tragic character, the only difference is that it was lucky enough to get a happy ending). God.
What I find most interesting is that… Manoel is just a mimic now? Like, the train was frightened and confused because it had never existed before that moment. Before the potion was spilt on it, it was just a train. But Manoel was a fully formed person when he was transformed into a mimic. So now he’s just a person who can shapeshift at will and has skin instead of clothes, and he’s just like that forever now. That’s so interesting.
And Ranboo’s acting - holy shit. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Ranboo seriously act, and I forgot how good at it he was. During the entire segment where he was playing the mimic, he barely even had to speak to describe to his players what was going on - he was just fully in character as the mimic in a new body, and communicated so clearly what was going on through their subtle expressions and body language that their players intuitively understood what was going through the mind of the mimic - which could not speak - with Ranboo having to do barely any out-of-character narration to explain it. And we can’t even see his face! He conveyed all that emotion and nuance with just his eyes!!

So Ranboo made a dnd campaign with Cellbit Slimecicle and Aimsey. About a train murder mystery. Centered around the train whose actually a mimic trying to eat the passengers. While the main characters just learnt that magic was real from Ranboo’s detective character Slimecicle’s guy is revealed to be magical. And then his backstory is revealed where a train ran over his parents. And then after the mimic reveal he confesses to being a train-themed superhero hellbent on killing all trains. Then ranboo’s character dies. Then cellbit’s character goes into the trains subconscious. Then the train turns out to be a baby. Then they transfer the trains soul into ranboo’s dead detective. Then they adopt the train. Then it’s finally revealed that everyone was actually an employee on the train even though none of them fucking knew. Oh and Ainsley’s character was just canonically eating a bucket of chicken tenders the entire four hours.

...I’m not kidding about those last two.
And the crazy thing is, I KNOW I’m missing a bunch...Feel free to add more for those who could use a pallet cleanser as well.
(Edit: Changed the title because people kept asking about it)
