TMF Popularity Poll Winners!! Ft. TMF comic

( for context I did a poll with 89 voters who contributed answering the question “who is your favourite character from TMF” and the top two winners I’ll draw fanart for )

1st: is Drew!! With over one third of the votes going to him.

2nd: Is Jake! There was a lot of competition with Hailey for 2nd though.

This means the fanart will be some PlumPeach content:)

And here are the rest of the results (also a mini comic) :

3rd: is Joint with Hailey and Sean who did way better than expected!

4th: Milly who was a little higher than expected but nothing crazy.

5th: Is joint with Henry and Zander who both got surprising low despite high predictions.

So I know a lot of people already head-cannon Drew as having a crush on Jake. And a lot more perceive this to be straight cannon fact.

And while nothing is confirmed yet, I think from a writing perspective it would absolutely make sense. It would only serve to enhance Drew's character. The only way I feel this could take away from his character is if they try to erase any attraction to Zoey, Drew has (A separate post I plan to make).

I think having Drew grapple with his feelings for Jake, his best friend, could serve as another parallel to Zander. Because Zander went through a similar thing with Luke. It would give something for them to discuss, a potential bonding point in Season two leading up to Drew's redemption.

Because the two are already so similar in terms of personality (which is why they clash a lot). They're both stubborn, mean, and have abandonment/attachment issues that manifest in different ways. Not to mention it has allegedly been confirmed by Rosy that Drew has home issues. Another parallel between the two. So having Drew go through something similar to Zander could act as a catalyst of sorts to get an interaction between the two.

It could also allow him to further parallel Lia, whom he already parallels in so many ways. It could be a bonding point between the two, like it could be for him and Zander.

Plus, in terms of story it would just feel natural. It would make much more sense as to why he reacted the way he did. And why he and Lia reacted so similarly. It would be foreshadowing for a reveal on how Drew truly feels about Jake. It also makes sense why Drew latched onto Jake so much. Not because he was just a friend, but because Drew had that extra level of care for Jake that usually comes from a place of romantic love (and maybe a bit of obsession).

This is not to try and diminish friendship, and how deeply friends can care for each other (as an arospec/acespec person, I really understand the importance of platonic relationships). But when looking at how Drew acts with his other friends compared to Jake then it's clear to see there's a difference.

And while I adore Drake as a ship, I think it would be better for the main series to have this crush be unrequited, again another post I have in drafts.

What I'm trying to say is that I feel it'd simply be better writing to have Drew grapple with this crush on Jake, rather than just have Drew see Jake as nothing more than a friend.

In terms of story and characterization I feel it just makes more sense and would add depth to the story.

I'm genuinely surprised there aren't more Elliot Hanahaki Disease fics. Imagine suffering from the person you love the most AND the thing you love the most (gardening) ??? His perception of flowers begins to change, and even when (or if) he recovers, gardening is never the same peaceful activity for him. And if he doesn't recover, the flowers on his grave feel like a personal attack, having his grave be surrounded with the beautiful, delicate things he once cherished that eventually killed him. Idk it feels interesting
