Y’all ever think about the Bifrost incident?
How some of the final thoughts swirling in Loki’s brain are of Baldur’s death (sunlight and it’s merry song) and her regret of it?
How she, an asgardian, feel in love and married a midguarduan? The romance that is implied here?!?
How Thor, for all his flaws, is a man who sees what is in front of him? He’s not like Odin, a distant architect guiding her people from afar, he’s an engineer working directly with his hands, caring for his people and never got the chance to take over and perhaps eventually lead to change? (Source: extrapolation from how he seems to be set as a contrast to Odin)
How Tyr’s lost hand implies that the Fenrir gambit from the myths could’ve happened? Meaning Tyr could’ve been somewhat of a double agent, friend of Fenrir, until a final betrayal?
And of course poor Lyf. A little alternate universe Jon, isn’t he. He has all the warning signs by red signal, he’s seen the terror by The Calling, and he knows it’s coming by Jormungandr. He doesn’t need to keep watching, he doesn’t need to make the report. He knows nobody will hear it, it won’t make a difference. But he needs to know, to fully understand, to record this information. he won’t be another mystery.

I'm still so mad at Jonny for writing such a beautiful scene of love winning from greed and hope that things might work out and then proceeds to kill everyone barely a sentence later /pos

Back Translation:
“The Riddle of the Sphinx”
Being an orphan
I struggled in poverty
In order to learn the doctor’s art
And be praised by all
I did not know that the Olympians
Secretly engendered my honor
Then I engaged
Myself against the Sphinx
CHORUS:
Four-legged in the morning
Two-legged in the day
Three-legged in the evening
While body and mind waste away
.
A terrible disease
The uncared-for
Poor striking
In them
Accelerates growth
They will die within the month
The children
Will resemble old men
Who have not learned how to cry
A withered corpse, and yet a child
CHORUS
For many years
I experimented
Studying its kind
They at last
Succeeded
With the cure
The consequence
The evil substance
From Olympian immortality
And I told the Olympians
CHORUS
FATHER:
Oedipus
Don’t you make trouble
The research becomes dangerous
Cease now
Find other work
Or this will destroy you
OEDIPUS:
Whoever, if
You threaten me
You will feel my wrath
Don’t interfere with my work
CHORUS x2
The Olympians learned
The cost of the immortality
They feigned pity
While they mourned the fallen
To find a way which
Would not lead to harm they swore
They gave me riches
They led my wife to me
.
Translator’s notes:
Line 1: It’s very cool how Ancient Greek has a verb just for existing as an orphan. It’s not very cool how there’s no way to phrase incorrectly thinking one exists as an orphan in a way that fits into the original line.
Line 4: I think I’ve implied that Oedipus became a doctor just for the status a bit more strongly than is warranted.
Lines 5–6: I tried put back in that Oedipus has secret rich parents using a verb that can mean “create” both in a building and a birthing sense. I used the same verb (τίκτω) in “Broken Horses,” though, so there’s a weird implication in at least one of these songs.
Lines 23–32: A lot of medical and scientific terms happen to come from Ancient Greek without the good manners to have equivalents in the language of origin. The technobabble (biobabble?) in the translation is consequently a lot more vague than in the original.
Line 51: “To lead in a wife” (εἰσάγω γυναῖκα) is a euphemism for marriage. It suggests a bit more direct involvement by the Olympians than in the original, but it seems to me like there’s a bit of a dearth in good introductory verbs.
.
Questions and suggestions welcome.

Okay, you know that scene in Catwoman v.1 where Selina begs Maggie to scream, cry, lash out, & curse her rather than turn to a darker version of herself?
I need you to understand that, if it were written with any sense of integrity, that would be the attitude Bruce has towards Jason post-resurrection. At least after becoming privy to the fact that Jason does not personally blame Bruce for his death.
In my opinion, Bruce would sell his arm for a penny on a streetcorner providing it gave Jason non-homicidal means of coping, for Jason to view him as responsible, as a second murderer. For him to curse "hereoism", & vigilantes, & the whole fucking lifestyle- decry it as an unbelievable farce & leave it all behind to go back to being Jason Todd of Crime Alley, who only did what he had to do to survive. Bruce would be so far beyond willing to carry that weight if it meant his boy would be off the track of his homicidally self-destructive rampage. If it meant Jason realizing he is more than just a revenant, that he is alive, that he can have a life.
The only way it makes any sense to me is if Bruce would accept, even embrace a world in which Jason views him as a horrible dad, an irredeemable piece of shit who is directly responsible for his murder, if it just meant that Jason did not have to utterly sacrafice his sense of humanity & compassion to make it through the world. He'd give near anything for it or it makes no sense. That's his son. His son who was dead but is now alive, for all he does not seem to grasp that himself.
Also he should have let Jason pop the clown. Not even for ethical reasons, but in the chase of giving Jason a chance at the realization in the world they do live in where Jason will not allow himself to view Bruce that way. Because he refuses to harm his son, or let him be taken in another explosion. Not when he just got him back, not when his son has not even gotten the chance to truly come back to life.
(I also think it would be a far more interesting jumping-off point post-utrh for Jason, but that's somewhat besides the point.)

I really like the Bifrost Incident.
So let’s take a look at a few of my favorite details
- Lífþrasir is one of the two humans to survive ragnarok, Edda is of course a reference to the Eddas
- Odin cannot kill Loki in Norse myth (blood brothers) so he chains up Loki in a punishment worse then death —> Odin does not kill Loki, instead mutating her brain
- “All I can recall is sunshine, and it’s merry song” while perhaps just referencing being imprisoned, it also could reference Baldur and a remorse for killing him
- MISSILE TWO JESUS CHRIST JONNY (Loki killed Baldur with mistletoe”
- Garm is referenced as a hound that guards hel’s gate, with associations with the twilight of the gods
- Hati and Skoll are the wolves that chase the Sun and moon, and when they catch the bodies that signals the end times— they’ve finally caught up
Kinda cool that the gang that Sigyn brings are all wolves
- Kvarsir was the god of poetry, turned to a wine (kinda?) through trickery by Odin, which he drunk, giving him even more knowledge
- Heimdall is the first to die- he is the one who signals the end times with his horn “he’s skinned alive by his own cry the end is neigh”, he’s also a far-seer so only his eyes remain
- Frey is killed by Surt, the king of the fire giants, represented by a giant sun. For his wife he lost his sword and it was prophesied that without his sword he’d die to surt => “no weapon, no defense, as his void burnt flesh is flayed”
- Odr is obscure, but he is Freya’s husband, who leaves for some reason, causing Freya to cry red-gold. I could not find anything on Freya’s death
- Tyr lost his hand to Fenris’s mouth when they bound him (implication is Tyr could’ve been a spy involved in Fenrir’s capture), he regrows it only to die in battle with Garm, as is prophesied
- Odin becomes Jormungandur, the one prophesied to kill Thor. The emphasis on the one eye is interesting because the lost eye was a sacrifice for knowledge.
- Interestingly Odin might be one of the few who escaped her fate, (aside from Loki, perhaps the only one?) she’s supposed to die to Fenrir. I take this as an indication of how much she’s warped the plot by calling outer gods
- For his transgressions, Loki was locked under the world, tied to a table with a snake dripping poison into his eyes above him. Sigyn joined him, holding a bowl to keep the poison at bay. —> How they delay the train :(
