It is so fucked up how at the end of the magnus archives everyone on earth remembers the apocalypse

Like there just six months where everyone on earth was suddenly in a hell dimension specifically designed to torture them and then *poof* things were just back to normal and everything looks exactly the same except for one building that fell down in London. And there’s no explanation for it! No lingering proof either except the fact that everyone on earth also remembers it and that the dickwads who tortured you are still here!

Did people really go back to work? Because if that happened to me I’d just assume there was no economy anymore and start breaking shit

One minute you’re in a job interview, then you’re a flower made of meat being cut up, and then you’re back in your interview as if nothing happened but the interviewer is white as a sheet and whatever happened to you also happened to them. Then you find out that EVERYONE literally EVERYONE ON THE PLANET went through it too and you’re just supposed to go back to normal?

There would have been riots

There would be arguments of mass hallucination

Ironically there would be new cults

And then eventually there’s going to be a new generation who didn’t go through that and they’re just going to have to take everyone’s word for it that the world turned into a hell dimension for six months but then got better before they were born!

And time will move on

And without physical evidence future generations will just assume it never really happened and that it wasn’t real. There will be historians who dedicate their lives to figuring out what natural disaster/mass hysteria/world wide gas leak caused their ancestors to believe there was an apocalypse

That world is going to get so fucked up

I know in fanart everyone always depicts Eyepocalypse-Daisy as a werewolf sort of thing, but I've always thought the idea of her being still physically human (as much as anyone can be when an avatar) throughout the whole thing infinitely more unsettling and HEAR ME OUT.

The Hunt with which Daisy is affiliated was never a fear of the physicality of the predator itself, but the way in which it pursues and kills. Not the sight of the claws themselves but the fact that they extend towards you, etc etc. That unwavering persistence and senseless, but uncontrollable, cruelty we see in her in S5, mixed with her obvious humanity seen in how she calls out to Basira, when the others find her is so much more horrifying when you imagine her exactly as she was physically before.

This is especially the case when you imagine things from Basira's perspective.

Imagine, you've worked with a partner for years, supported each other (so much so as to indulge each other's harmful behaviour and abuse of power). You do your best to ignore the terrible things she does in the name of justice, even when it becomes woefully apparent that this is spurred on by an actual fear god feeding on her actions. You watch her try to resist it, then fail to do so in order to protect you and the others around you.

The world goes to capital-H-Hell, and you spend all your days looking for her to fulfill your promise to kill her.

It is the least you can do, after all.

It was the last thing she ever asked of you.

You expect that there will be nothing left of the woman you knew when it comes to it, that it will be an inhuman husk with no memories of you or anything other than The Hunt. But then you find her, and she's still her. Bloody and bestial, yes, but unmistakably her. And worst of all, your prick of a friend (love you Jon) just ealirer let you know that she is perfectly content. She is happy like this, and most harrowing of all, she recognises you. She wants you to join her.

And you realise that her request to kill her was not, will never be, the last thing she ever asked of you.

She extends a hand towards you, and it is the same hand you held before The Change.

And you kill her. Not a creature that was once her, just her. There is no heroism in it, only a partner lost.

Still, nevertheless I love werewolf-Daisy too.

(Equally, the idea of a grown human woman gnawing on someones leg is kind of hilarious, or Floridian, but I digress.)

The thing with Jon is that he is actually really funny! His delightfully dry and sarcastic sense of humor is pleasantly visible from the beginning, and it's gradual decline as pressure builds up is pointed. He never loses his humor though, and in so many cases the crisis enhances it.

It makes me consider his childhood. Jon's rejected, ignored and hushed pretty often but it scarcely stops his witty comments; is this the environment he grew up it? Its not uncommon for elderly people to have dry humor also, and the mask of academia goes hand in hand with sarcasm.

What's really fascinating about Jon's humor however, is how it changes during the apocalypse. When he no longer has to mantain a professional image or his integrity in any way his humor takes much more of a forefront. Of course, he's still under a tremendous amount of pressure so it would be ridiculous for him to be funny all of the time, but when the social stakes are lowered he's much more open.

We see it in many moments when he's with Martin, and even with Basira, Melanie, and Georgie. His jokes are a lot more honest, and he allows them to be simply funny instead of lacing them with intellectualism. For the first time him being professional, polite, and socially acceptable will do absolutely nothing to help him and he's able to let go.

Even in through the various moments of struggle in their journey Jon's able to be more relaxed, which in turn seems to create better outcomes; I'd say that this is because it's not his fault for once, but since he very clearly believes that it is, this reaction is likely as a result of the fact that it absolutely and categorically could not get any worse .

This, I think, is a reason Jon and Martin were able to get so far (and remain so engaging). Even in the darkest depths, the worst of the worst, their survival instincts and coping mechanisms compliment eachother greatly. Jon provides information, knowledge, and the light relief of a very good joke. Martin provides care, concern, and emotional critical thinking.

Their love for eachother was the glue that held together a very well suited team, and together their skills and even their flaws carried them forward.
