what r some of ur fav kacy moments?
a FANTASTIC question. here's a top ten in no particular order:
the parking lot scene. kate is not the bad guy! let's kiss under the parking lot lights! they did not go get that beer and i love that for them.
that one scene in season 3 where kate is bringing ernie mochi and lucy says that kate is looking fantastic today. something about that whole interaction just... got me. the grin on lucy's face. the way kate smiles back over her shoulder. pls tell me about your acting choices and why they made that 15 second scene endearing.
first date reenactment. those freakin dorks, i swear to god. kate's "well, i don't seem like a lot of things" lives rent-free in my head.
OF COURSE the scene in 3x04 where they have to dip into that storeroom to avoid the bad guy and they're, like, 2 inches away from each other. maybe i've watched that a few times.
the first kiss in the pilot. i'm split equally between the original airing with the smash cut kiss and the extended scene because i originally thought that lucy initiated the kiss, but finding out that kate was the one... mind-blowing.
the 2x01 episode kisses (plural!) because i love domestic kacy. i could write about that allllll day. i was not expecting lucy to straight up (ha) get into kate's lap at the outro of that episode. sigh. that was such an opening episode.
kate waiting at lucy's desk in 1x10 after the whole finger business. i just loved how kate said she was more comfortable with things at dinner and then just casually sits at lucy's desk waiting for her to come back (which is why 1x11 is so fucking crushing).
the scene in that episode in season 2 where lucy is helping Joe, the sailor with the memory problem. and joe elbows her in the jaw and lucy and kate are in the kitchen in the office and kate is snippy because she's worried. i'm not mad kate says, definitely not happy.
and speaking of lucy being beat up... the scene in 1x07 (? maybe) where lucy agrees that secrets can be fun and kate ducks her head and says something like, "want to tell me more about secerts" or whatever (i am not searching for the lingo, sorry). like, goodness. kate. relax.
the 'move in' scene where kate is so far behind on the conversation and she's just blinking as lucy explodes. i love a good "why are we fighting?" "we're not!" in shouty volumes and then the break in the tension where they realize they're definitely arguing scene. and they did this one perfectly.
okay, that was a nice little walk through my mind. now i need to go watch all these scenes (shoutout to the people who upload their scenes to youtube, they're the real ones).

Thoughts whilst watching Corlys and Rhaenys reunite in 1x10 (YELL AT ME AND I MIGHT ADD GIFS):
You have it start with the music as Corlys opens his eyes and then the music fades out. It’s so similar to their other two one-on-one scenes (in 1x05 and 1x07), where there was no music. I love thinking about these scenes as a trio, really reflecting the journey this couple ash been on.
The set up is perfect. You’ve got Corlys who’s so physically imposing and dynamic and usually has the most movement in these scenes, bedbound and not able to do much. And then you’ve got Rhaenys who has been such a pillar of strength and composure and armoured and on guard for the last few episodes... now vulnerable.
Seriously, the visual impact of Rhaenys in comparison to earlier in the episode. She’s not had her armour off until this point. She’s got her belt off, the first few buckles are undone on her jacket, and her hair is now out of the ponytail.
AND SHE’S GOT A CLOTH IN HER HAND. I will forever yell about the cloth in her hand. She fell asleep tending to him. Also; jeez louise, the amount of stress this woman has been under and now she’s fallen asleep in a chair.
This is the first time he’s seeing her. It’s not the first time she’s seen him. But both of them see one another whilst the other is asleep, which is kind of cool. But it so gives Rhaenys the advantage.
THAT OPENING LINE. I adore it. It’s so stupid. I want to know Steve’s reaction to reading that for the first time because it is the Corlys-equivalent of a really cheesy pick-up line. And the amazing thing is that because he tries it, you know he’s done it before and it’s worked. What a guy. And he smiled before the punchline.
“You abandoned me. When I most needed you.” I mean, just stab me, it’d hurt less. But it’s the most honest that Rhaenys has been, if not in the whole series, then at least after the time jump and in relation to the situation she was left with. People have been throwing her precarious position and her husband’s absence in her faith and she never said a word, never commented, never betrayed. But the first time she sees her husband, she lets him know.
She’s so capable, she’s navigated all these political waters, the physical threat to her life, the years alone and she’s been fine and formidable and victorious but it’s STILL: “I needed you.”
Also the delivery of this speech is what I always think about when I listen to Eve call Rhaenys “intense”. It’s so concentrated. Her entire being is focused on getting this message through to Corlys. She can forgive him, so long as he knows. It’s still so controlled, so pointed, so purposeful. All she’s doing is sitting in a chair, telling the truth, and she’s eviscerating him.
Corlys is a man who feels he has no self-worth if he can’t look into his wife’s eyes. I truly believe that. There are two times in this portion of the conversation he looks away from Rhaenys and looks like he’s in agony. Both are when he’s reminded not just that he left her, but that he shouldn’t have. And I think that’s why, apart from war, it takes six bloody years for him to come home. He didn’t want to look in his wife’s eyes.
“We lost, Corlys. We.” - and he gives this tiny nod. Whatever story he’d been telling himself, whatever excuses, whatever justification... Rhaenys is right. And he hadn’t seen it. I think it’s also important that he doesn’t respond to it. In previous scenes, when she’s pushed back on him or done something similar, he’s had a response. (Maybe there’s a comparison gifset in there...)
AND THEN WE GET A SWITCH UP. There’s a before and an after. Both in terms of switching up the conversation from him abandoning her to there being a new King, but physically and it’s the physical one that interests me the most. We go from Rhaenys leaning forwards, in her chair, furious, and over Corlys... to a levelling. Rhaenys gets up and sits on the bed. They’re equal again. They’re literally closer. And her anger has gone so she’s just tending his wounds as he looks at her. And we get that lovely shot of them finally together, in the same shot, connected. You know that they’re moving forward together as now the audience is allowed to see that physical closeness and the intimacy of Rhaenys washing his hands. Even if she has still got her guard up a little.
“The Stranger casts a long shadow over this family.” UNDERRATED LINE.
I mean, she puts that cloth on his brow and Corlys gives her a look. And it’s the best look because it’s puppy eyes but it’s also the first time he’s properly, unflinching looking at his wife in six years. You can’t tell me he’s not seeing everything she’s been through written on her face.
It’s Rhaenys’s turn not to look at him, as she tells him all about Vaemond. Whether that’s guilt because she couldn’t stop it, resentment because it’s the fruit of all the flaws she’s had been trying to address before Corlys left her, or just a mechanism to stop herself from losing composure, I don’t know.
Hand on the chest. HAND ON THE CHEST!!!
A beat as he looks straight at her. Then: “You were right, Rhaenys.” - she instantly looks at him. Again, just stab me. And when we cut back to him, THEY’RE HOLDING HANDS.
Sad that her being told she’s right is no consolation. She’s not happy about it, she barely reacts. She reacts so slightly when Corlys starts verbally beating himself up. It’s heartbreaking because she loves him: she didn’t want this to happen to him as much as the outcome might be a good one.
This was his Great Council. This was his humbling. They are now, finally, on the same page.
I’m always fascinated by the choices they make when discuss “our” or “we” vs “I” and “you”. This crops up a lot with them. Here, Corlys says “I reached”, but it’s “our pursuit.” - I really like the feel of that.
And if I wasn’t sad before, I am now. She looks like a weight has been lifted but then he says they’ll declare for no one and she shifts again. The small smile drops. Then it’s just about there as he spells out what her dream would be, just before it cuts back to him. ALSO AT SOME POINT A TEAR HAS FALLEN. Gdi Eve Best and your shiny eyes.
Steve said an interview that Corlys, at that point, is saying what he thinks Rhaenys will want to hear. He means it in the moment, he believes that where they are in the world now, not being near the Throne, is okay. But I don’t think he ever would have stayed out of the conflict. It’s not who he is. STILL HOLDING HANDS THOUGH.
And Rhaenys knows it. She knows as soon as she spells it out, they will be in it, and they will be in it till the bitter end. What she says next will change everything. And it does, even in terms of just the immediate as Corlys gets angry and fired up about Rhaenyra. The conversation has changed once again.
I just want to point out the hands. When Corlys says Rhaenyra was complicit in Laenor’s death, Rhaenys had a hand over hers and Corlys’s. She takes that top hand off. What when Rhaenys pulls away from him, not only are both her hands with his, but his free hand was on her elbow. They got so close so quickly. I love the intimacy.
It’s also another example of Corlys turning things emotional and Rhaenys trying to be practical. It’s just great conflict. Well deserved conflict but also well handled conflict between them as a couple. As much as Rhaenys is finally winning the argument and he’s acquiescing to her wishes, it feels like a natural continuation and restoration of the dynamic we’ve seen with them before, especially when held together against how they start the scene vs how they begin the next one, walking in together.
Corlys being an active listener. Dude doesn’t even blink. Each word hitting home, doing it’s job. Rhaenys knows more than him and he’s listening to that. He knows she’s right and I’m sure there is a part of him that’s ready for the next fight and willing to direct his restlessness somewhere. Our boy Corlys likes a cause. He like justice. He likes things cut and dry.
I think Rhaenys’s words are less “go back Rhaenyra she’s now wonderful” but more “every man is urging war, but you know war, you know battle, you have the opportunity to help SHAPE this upcoming conflict. Rhaenyra is the only one demonstrating restraint. Someone else needs to.” - it’s about HELPING, and the reasons for helping are clear: their grandkids. They can’t turn away. This is backed up by the way that Corlys basically just dominates that next scene.
To summarise: healthy conflict, vulnerability on show, not a word wasted, body language, THEY LOVE EACH OTHER, three stages to the conversation, HANDS, a restoration of a dynamic.

Really loving how the show is exploring the beginning of Kate and Lucy's relationship and all the insecurities that still lurk in the shadows of honeymoon bliss. There's a lot to love in 2x02:
Kate blurting out, “I want to tell my boss we’re dating,” and Lucy being completely thrown off. It’s Kate’s version of “I want to be intimate,” and Lucy pointing at the coffee shop and going, “Here???”
Lucy being a supportive, stabilizing force for Kate only for us to find out she's equally as freaked out and worried later in her own time (says it to Jesse and then, as pointed out very nicely here, she punches her girlfriend's boss's arm then tries to recover by nervously complimenting his corny apron).
"No, no it's not fine, Lucy... You make it look so easy," is giving "You're always doing nice things for me... I just wanted to show my appreciation." (Both of them feeling like they're not doing enough/doing it as well as the other and trying to do something big to make sure they're reciprocating properly, resulting in them making "mistakes" they feel the need to apologize for.)
2x02 is likely an intentional callback/parallel to 1x07 to show how far they've come:
Kate hesitantly whispering in a dark corner about being compartmented  after Lucy invited her out in front of people vs. Kate, in public, outright saying she wants to introduce Lucy to her boss and coworkers and inviting her to the barbeque (and wanting Lucy's input)
Lucy being all hush-hush with Ernie in the empty hallway vs. Lucy rambling loudly to Jesse about her girlfriend possibly losing her position because of conflict of interest concerns while walking down that same hallway (and then the bullpen) now full of coworkers
Kate not wanting anyone at work, especially Lucy’s team, to find out about them (”Ernie’s not people”) vs. Kate jumping at the chance to ask Jesse for advice despite him giving her an out (in general, Jesse, who labelled Kate 'the Mean Girl™️' in the pilot, now watching her lament over her own incompetence because of a silly misunderstanding all while making silly faces and asking him how to not piss off his teammate/little sister/friend)
"You make it look so easy." "We don't have to do this today." "No, no, I want to, it's just—it's a lot for me,"
is a less combative version of,
"I'm trying to do this your way, you know, be all expressive and smiley, it's just—it's hard for me to be-" "Human?" "I'm trying here, Lucy."
They're both self-deprecating scenes for Kate. She admits she's embarrassed by herself in 1x07 and we see it in 2x02 after she confesses that this is the first time she's ever introduced a girlfriend to her coworkers. In 1x07, it's like Kate's begging Lucy to see her and understand her. In 2x02, it feels more like deep shame (especially when she looks down at "It's a lot for me") over disappointing and failing Lucy again after saying she’d do things differently this time. Lucy, who’s the most amazing woman she’s ever met, who’s crazy about her, who’s still trying to reassure her when Kate can’t even do something as simple as correct her boss when he assumes she’s dating a guy.
A big difference is that in one, Kate knows she hurt Lucy and is delivering a necessary apology after a disagreement and in the other, Kate thinks she’s hurt Lucy, even though Lucy's tells her it's fine. Kate still insists that it's not, is quick to say “it’s my fault”, and is stressing out big time over a small mistake. It also feels like the difference between the two Kacy scenes is this feeling of Kate “has to” vs. Kate “wants to”. S1 Kate is sharing because she messed up and is trying to cling onto the potential this relationship has and S2 Kate already knows the pain of losing Lucy to her own bad choices and wants to be better (1x07 ends with Kate in that state because she was prompted, but in 2x02 she starts the episode already having decided on her own that she wants to involve Lucy).
In 1x07, Lucy’s hurt and upset, so even when Kate’s being vulnerable (after Lucy offered up some vulnerability first) and turning her assumptions on their head, she lashes out. Ernie’s advice earlier in the episode is light-hearted ribbing, but also coated in the fact that maybe Lucy was wrong to make assumptions from her own insecurities. She can’t be sympathetic towards Kate just yet. Eventually, she recognizes the effort Kate’s putting in and agrees to terms that’ll make her the most comfortable. Kate’s asking for a lot of things in this scene: forgiveness, understanding, another chance, time.
In 2x02, Lucy can clearly see Kate's distress and realizes the big leap Kate's trying to make for her, for them. Sees the workplace stakes 1x07 Kate might have been worried about and spirals a little too before Jesse course-corrects her. When Kate admits how new this type of milestone is for her, despite it being something Lucy's wanted since s1, she prioritizes Kate's comfort and says they don't have to do this today. It's only when Kate makes it absolutely clear that this is something she wants to do, something they both want, that Lucy switches the type of support she offers.
Kate puts herself out there, lets herself be vulnerable, and Lucy meets her halfway: in 1x07 when she agrees to being a secret and in 2x02 when she's supporting Kate's decision to be transparent and open about them.
The first is a compromise in the dark, in the closed-door break room tucked in the corner of the office, after their coworkers have gone home. Lucy flirts and teases, but she walks away, leaving Kate to chase after her. It obviously means a lot to both of them, but they don't say that out loud, instead choosing to be all coy about it and deflecting. They probably spend the night together, Kate showing her appreciation in the comfort of her own home.
The second is a reminder and a promise that Kate isn't alone anymore because they're in a serious, committed relationship. Lucy reaches out, leaves no room for doubt as she links their hands together, and tells Kate earnestly that she's right there by her side, that she's here to stay no matter what. In the light of day, out in the open, on their way to meet Kate's coworkers. Then, she walks with her into the bbq, stands by her the whole time, and uses that Lucy Tara charm on everyone. And Kate repays all that by being brave, by being openly sweet, loving, and affectionate with Lucy in front of everyone.

Random details I noticed rewatching 'A League of their Own': Pointless, funny and an annoying error.
Tumblr media
Two things, The pen ink on Carson's finger, and Charlie's address. Means nothing except Carson can't work a flexible nib fountain pen.
Tumblr media
Who tf is tall enough to do that spinny thing to D'Arcy Carden? Girl is like 15 feet tall.
Tumblr media
Carson and Max are wearing VERY complementary outfits (Red/blue) in this. I don't know if it means anything apart from the fact that in a better world, Max would be playing AAGPBL and even could have been a Peach... but she isn't. Or it's setting them up as two equal and comparable characters. I dunno. But it's a cool parallel.
Tumblr media
I like that Carson's mask ages from episode 1 (left) to episode 8 (right). I mean they played 108 games and the thing is faded, seams splitting, paint coming off, rusty. Good attention to detail.
Tumblr media
You can't see it (cos of trash quality, very sorry) but there is a red lipstick kiss on Jo's cheek.
Tumblr media
Contrary to common belief, Greta doesn't kiss her own card. It a Racine Belles player.
Tumblr media
Jess's face. That's it.
Tumblr media
Sorry this is a long one and deserves it's own post. I think this may be a continuity/costuming error, but when Carson sent her letter to Charlie in 1x01 (see above) she addressed it to PTE Charlie Shaw. PTE stands for Private, the lowest US Army rank and pretty standard for infantry. Home boy above (this is from 1x02) is wearing Staff Sergeant 1st Class insignia. Which given how long he was gone for, is IMHO, unlikely. Even though this is a dream sequence, he's wearing it in 1x07 and 08 too. So I'm assuming Carson's letter is the error. The show did at least keep it consistent for his other uniform in 1x03 (we're not even gonna discuss the Third Army patch he had on that uniform, that's definitely a post) [ALOTO TEAM PLEASE HIRE ME].
Mental notes: - Carson has had to cover for herself and Greta 'I-have-rules' Gill THREE times. Once with Max, once with Shirley and (I assume we'll see in season 2) once with Charlie. Greta never had to talk her way out of being busted. - The ongoing joke about Carson being from a farm is reference to Dottie and Kit in the film, who actually were from a farm.
I have so many more of these but I have uni work to do and its very early in the morning.

I do like that both Baela Targaryen and Rhaena Targaryen as equally happy and satisfied with a marriage announcement as Lucerys and Jacaerys are. You can tell that they have a connection. It’s weird because they are cousins/siblings. But you can tell that in one 1x07 that they did have more fun and a connection each other than they did with Aegon and Aemond, which was really fucking obvious.
I read somewhere on here that said “Alicents children are more of a menace to society ,with the exception of Helaena, while Rhaenyra’s children are being raised to be heirs to a throne”-unknown. I saw that and thought that was such a good way to describe it. Because when you’re put into that position of such high power, you could either have the attitude of I’m going to rule one day I need to learn as much as I can be a good delegator and things like that, and really take into your “image” and set a good example while some on the other hand just act high and mighty, not really care, and just do as they please, and not really care of the consequences. You see that between the Greens and Blacks.
Also, Helaena and Jacaerys could’ve been together and could’ve united the two houses and problem would’ve been solved by Alicent being the petty bitch that she is, didn’t allow it .

[1x07] can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that TWO MONTHS IN as a rookie and Lucy already has the detective skills to understand that Isabel is manipulating Tim to steal some evidence from her place? just from watching their body language through the cell door and her knowledge of police procedure?
she is a legend. someone make the woman a detective already!
(otherwise she managed to somehow tail Tim from the station in her orange Datsun, which is arguably an equally impressive feat) (or she’s secretly a lip reader like Amy Santiago)

Do you think Ezran grieves both his parents differently? Sarai died when he was 1-2 years old(I think? I might need to rewatch), so his memories of her might be vague, and he doesn’t really know her, even if she was his mother.
With Harrow, at least, he was there for the majority of Ezran’s childhood, and they had a special type of relationship. So Harrow’s death probably hurt more than Sarai’s did.
I don't think Sarai's death necessarily hurt less than Harrow's, just differently. I think Ezran's quiet nature when he sees Callum drawing Sarai in 1x07, like he's not quite sure what to do with it, even if he also knows that she would tell him to bundle up closer to the fire (as Callum says) shows an uncertain but very real form of grief. I think he ultimately feels something similar to what Aanya experiences:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yes, I think Ezran grieves Harrow and Sarai differently, but I think he grieves them in equal measure. His bond with his father was all the more precious to him because Harrow was his remaining parent; Ezran shares much of Sarai's spirit (and taste for jelly tarts) and I imagine his issues with not fitting in with other kids was compounded in his family unit.
Harrow and Callum were both mourning someone they remembered, so Ezran was somewhat left on the outside in his grieving process, even if they (particularly Callum) would've done all they could. It also might be part of why he found himself bonding with Soren and Claudia, even if he didn't know the details Claudia gives in 2x09 (hinting that Lissa left around the same time Sarai died, or within a couple of years) and the loss of their mother being different.
Ezran grew up in the aftermath of his family's and his own grief in a very tangible way, and I think this is best seen in his reaction / priorities regarding Zym as well:
Tumblr media
E: Don't you want to see her?
Because in some ways, I think Ezran would give just about anything to see Sarai. To hold a single conversation with her. A hug he can remember. He was robbed of the most, in her death, out of the family, yet he still believes so strongly in a mother's love as a sure fire, unconditional force ("When she sees her baby, her heart will change" 3x03) likely due to all the stories he's heard about just how much Sarai loved her family, too, from Harrow, Aunt Amaya, his brother, and maybe even Viren.
Tumblr media
As well as the parental responsibility he feels and takes on towards Zym of his own fruition (mostly from Harrow's side, but it's that loss of a parent he's relating to, and he doesn't know he's lost Harrow yet, either; even if he does miss Harrow's presence and seeks his guidance).
Tumblr media
However, he also understands Zym’s hesitance. It makes me think of baby Ezran being upset when he first is taken to Sarai’s grave, because the woman looks like his mother but is not his mother, and why isn’t she here? When is she coming back? A child’s questions that he is far too young to verbalize and his family are not ready to answer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now Zym is on the precipice of seeing a dead mother (after all, Zubeia is basically on her death bed) and Ezran understands that hesitance all too well.
So TLDR; Ezran does mourn Sarai just as much as Harrow. It just manifests in different ways regarding his character arc. Also, a closing passage from the Book One: Novelization released in 2020 when Ezran is under the ice in 1x06 saving Zym:
The light started to take shape and a silhouette emerged. A sense of comfort washed over him—it must be his mother, [Ezran] thought, here to retrieve him from the frozen waters. He did not remember her, but somehow he knew her. She smiled and beckoned Ezran towards the light. He paddled to reach her, and as he came closer, she appeared ready to hold him in her warm embrace. Ezran held out his arms in a circle to hug her.

saddest moment for each sibling?
Luther - I'm torn between 1x06/1x07 when Luther realises Reginald never read the letters and the 2x05 flashback scene where Reginald just tears into Luther and the visible hurt on his face, both are equally upsetting
Diego - 1x04 when he finds Patch's body, the way he pounds the floor with his fist and then cradles her face gently? I'm in tears. How he speaks to her softly like she's still there, because for all he knows she could be a ghost, ouch
Allison - 2x03 - Allison's desperation to help Raymond, her finally using her powers again despite her trauma and then Ray backing away and the anguish on Allison's face? The fact she needs to be pulled away because she's desperate to explain herself :(
Klaus - Maybe a slightly underrated one but 2x05 when he returns to destiny's children and is just so defeated, and so tired, and going through the motions just hits me so hard
Five - 1x02 and Five finding his siblings bodies, especially when that horrified and grieved realisation kicks in upon seeing Klaus's umbrella tattoo
Ben - 2x09 I only have seven words "Can you hug me as I go?" That's all I need, and then I'm a wreck, and if that wasn't enough "It's been a long time since..."
Viktor - 2x09 and Ben finding him after he's remembered everything inside his mind. Viktor's guilt and fear about what he's done and what he's currently doing is just so damn painful it hurts :(

I think one phrase that stood out to me during M*lina's different ideologies argument was Mal saying he couldn't keep up with Alina. She was too ambitious and too determined for him and he felt like a tag-along (which he was). Him acknowledging in a roundabout way that he'd prefer a more demure partner, or at least one that would let him take the lead, shows why they don't work on a fundamental level. I also feel like despite being smitten with Sun Summoner Alina, Nikolai will feel differently about Shadow Summoner Alina. He's going to realize she isn't all sunshine and roses. There's only one man that can balance all of her and match her intensity and that's Aleksander Morozov(a).
I agree with all of this. To add to it though a phrase that caught my attention was when he was listing off all the things she's been chasing after 'Stag, Sea Whip, Firebird, Engagement, Second Army.' What's interesting to me is the stag part because that tells me that he has been feeling this way a lot longer than just recently. He's been feeling this way since they went hunting for the stag. I do get the impression that alot of it is because its a change in their dynamic, I feel like before she discovered she was grisha it was mostly M*l that lead and made the decisions and Alina would mostly go along with it. But then she met Aleks and he helped her see she was powerful and meant for something and her confidence grew, but also with Aleks she felt able to challenge him and question him and I think all this lead to her realising she could make her own choices and decisions so when she met with M*l again she was the one calling the shots and making the plans which was a huge change for M*l and suddenly he was trying to keep up with her as oppose to leading and guiding her.
I also agree that Nikolai is smitten with sun summoner Alina and that he may not feel the same when she becomes darker. Basically I agree with what Aleks said to M*l in 1x07, she has only one equal, that's Aleks himself.

To clarify, I love certain aspects of Liz's character but the way she was written, I hate.
Oh sorry yeah, I assumed that’s what you meant! I just started rambling 😆
I think the betrayals related to her scientific pursuits (against Max, the pod squad, even Rosa and Maria by S2) completely go against the character established in S1. Yes I think Liz is willing to cross ethical lines, absolutely, but endangering her loved ones has never made sense. In 1x07 even when she thinks Isobel killed Rosa, she still prioritises their secret above all else. She decides she can’t report Isobel because she doesn’t want to risk the pod squad being investigated and their alien secret being discovered—she still appreciates the likelihood of them being experimented on/medical torture and she couldn’t live with knowing she was the catalyst of that.
I’ve always thought S2 would make more sense if Liz was using alien DNA not with the intention of somehow publicly announcing her findings (via idk magic findings and sharing no scientific reporting), but if Liz had lied to Max about clearing out her lab simply because she wanted to find a way to heal Maria and by the end of the season succeeds. Max not knowing the reason when he finds the lab and then out of fear, only knowing Liz has been lying to him, destroys it—then Liz’s anger and pain and own sense of betrayal would make infinitely more sense to me. Particularly if she wasn’t finished because Rosa is suffering from the alien side effects and wants them gone (what we saw in 2x07) and Liz thinks she can help with that. Rosa’s alien powers making her recovery from both addiction and death incredibly difficult.
If a Liz/Max breakup was about Liz “choosing” Rosa over Max rather than her, idk, being angry at Max because she’d been stopped from sharing alien-sourced scientific discoveries with the world explicitly against his wishes. After everything Rosa has been through… Liz and Max would both have very compelling and justified reasons to be angry with each other but also equally hurt. I think that would be the line-crossing but empathetic and logical character we met with Liz in S1.
Shit I started rambling again 😂

sorry I just can’t express the full breadth of my feelings about the Kaz and Inej scene in 1x07??
She comes looking for a reason to put her trust in him, and what he gives her instead is his trust in her. He says the Crows aren’t a weapon, they aren’t a thing owned by anyone, they are all equals, they all look after one another.
And that puts her on safe enough footing to trust him with her fear, and to believe him when he says that she won’t have to face it. She tells him that she needs looking after, and he’s a Crow, so of course he will.

- ah yes egwene following in moiraine's foot steps with seeing the logical bigger picture
- rand and egwene are cuddling, perrin is sad about his wife, nynaeve and lan are definitely not thinking about each other, moiraine is either ignoring it or thinking about siuan
- ah yes let's get our deepest fears whispered in our ears
- love seeing nynaeve just going from fear to anger to channeling
- yeah um machin shin telling nynaeve she can't save someone is the number one way to get her to save someone
- moiraine is like get over yourselves we have bigger fish to fry siuan sanche is proud of me
- i spy with my little eye a swearing borderlander with an eyepatch, UNO
- MIN FARSHAW!!!
- okay so my theory about moiraine's seeing is that elaida becoming amyrlin/siuan "dying" is going to push moiraine towards the red gateway jump which of course leads to her loosing her magic power so her downfall???
- egwene being the first one to volunteer to highly risk dying to save the world :')
- i have no idea why perrin has feelings for egwene in this??? like honestly why??? (though i’m kinda curious what this changes about faile x perrin)
- nynaeve holding on to her braid as comfort
- "remember the first time we met" i demand to see young moiraine dumped into a lake this instant
- moiraine is like i have a gf, you deserve one too lan
- nynaeve being an orphan and not really having a family (other than the former wisdom) and lan inviting her over to eat with his family, hold on im just emotional
- did not expect lanaeve to advance so quickly
- honestly i'm living for the conflict between rand and egwene
- lanaeve is advancing way quicker than i expected,,, uh wow
- very glad we got to see rand dragging his father back to emonds field/the two rivers
- moiraine is like lan is having sex best time to mask my bond and ditch all these other kids

which "h2o: just add water" episodes centered each character? a quantitative analysis
hello, 2021 h2o enjoyers! lately, i've been thinking about how many h2o episodes focus on a specific mermaid. naturally, i wondered—which main mermaid (cleo, rikki, emma, and bella) has the most episodes dedicated to their character arc? and what percent of the show focuses on that character? so i wrote up this quantitative analysis and... yeah.
caveats:
-there are many h2o episodes that don’t center any specific character, which is why these episodes are not included on the list.
-there are some episodes that focus a lot on on lewis, charlotte, will, et cetera. however, i decided to only compile episode lists for the four main mermaids.
-there’s no perfect methodology for this type of analysis. some episodes that i included in one character’s category also included a substantial plot point for another character. i just tried to use my best judgement; typically, if an episode mainly revolved around [insert character], significantly contributed to a character’s arc, and/or if that character had the most screen time in that episode, i labeled it as [insert character]-centric.
under the cut, you’ll find each character’s episodes!
list of cleo-centric episodes:
season 1
1x02 pool party
1x03 catch of the day
1x08 the denman affair
1x12 the siren effect
1x14 surprise!
1x16 lovesick
1x19 hurricane angela
season 2
2x05 hocus pocus
2x06 pressure cooker
2x07 hot water
2x10 missed the boat
2x16 double trouble
2x19 the gracie code, part one
2x25 sea change
season 3
3x03 keep your enemies close
3x07 happy families
3x09 the sorcerer’s apprentice
3x13 to have and to hold back
3x17 a magnetic attraction
3x24 too close for comfort
total: 19 episodes
divided by the number of episodes in the series*: 19/78 or ≈24%
list of rikki-centric episodes:
season 1
1x06 young love
1x09 dangerous waters
1x10 the camera never lies
1x18 bad moon rising
1x22 fish out of water
1x23 in too deep
season 2
2x03 the one that got away
2x08 wrong side of the tracks
2x11 in over our heads
2x24 three’s company
season 3
3x05 big ideas
3x12 crime & punishment
3x16 the dark side
3x18 into the light
3x21 the jewel thief
total: 15 episodes
divided by the number of episodes in the show: 15/78 or ≈19%
list of emma-centric episodes:
season 1
1x04 party girls
1x07 moon spell
1x11 sink or swim
1x15 the big chill
1x21 red herring
season 2
2x04 fire and ice
2x12 fish fever
2x14 get off my tail
2x17 moonstruck
total: 9 episodes
divided by the number of episodes in which emma appeared: 9/51 or ≈18%
divided by the number of episodes in the series: 9/78 or ≈12%
list of bella-centric episodes:
season 3
3x02 jungle hunt
3x06 secrets & lies
3x08 kidnapped
3x10 revealed
3x11 just a girl at heart
3x20 queen for a day
3x23 beach party
total: 7 episodes**
divided by the number of episodes in which bella appeared: 7/26 episodes or ≈27%
divided by the number of episodes in the series: 7/78 or ≈9%
overall, 50 episodes (or ≈64% of all h2o episodes) focus more on a specific character’s arc, leaving 28 episodes (or ≈36%) that focus more on the group as a whole.
what does this analysis tell us? well, unsurprisingly, far fewer episodes center emma or bella. but 18 episodes center cleo—does this mean that she's the main main character of the series? i'd argue that the writers framed her character this way. still, rikki, emma, and even bella are hardly minor characters. after all, h2o is about the Power of Friendship in this trio of girls who have been brought together by the mermaid secret—and each girl is supposed to play a roughly equal role in all of this.
footnotes:
*cleo and rikki were the only mermaids to appear in all 78 episodes of h2o. therefore, i didn’t break their screen time down any further like i did with emma and bella, who appeared in 51 and 26 episodes, respectively. (no, emma wasn’t in all 52 episodes of her two seasons—she didn’t appear in “the gracie code, part one”.)
**i feel like i should add that most of bella’s episodes are also will-centric. while she has more episodes dedicated to her in season 3 than cleo or rikki, this doesn’t necessarily translate to more character development or meaningful plot lines. i’ll let you form your own opinions on that, though.
