the way ash just pulled up to the gilbert’s household because he somehow knew their address and was ‘passing by’ and then proceeds to insult emma over lunch like disrespecting her in her own home in front of her friends and family. then cleo and rikki are sooo pushy about him which i feel like is out of character for them. yeah, sure, a little teasing from your friends about a guy isn’t abnormal but the way they are so insistent about him, completely disregarding the way emma has repeatedly told them she feels. also you’re telling me rikki dump him chadwick would say these things to emma of all people?? no so sorry to the writers but i know these characters better

I think writing-wise, season 2 lack the most when it comes to one cohesive plot
You can a lot of times feel it when one episode doesn't make sense to other episodes, or when a character moment is written in just to be completely ignored later on. Great example is that first episode when Cleo is obsessed over Charlotte, driving Emma insane about it. If that would've been the attitude for her the entire season that would've been fine, but the rest of the season she's just annoyed by Charlotte, which most times makes sense. Rikki has this whole thing with Zane, and they kinda become a thing? But then it's hardly being seen. Charlotte is trying to hit on Lewis and he's clearly uncomfortable and uninterested then suddenly they're dating. There are so many plot gaps that are never filled which is weird as the show has a lot of time to develop these characters and it does so but never in a cohesive way that makes sense as a viewer. Even now, 15 years after I still can't pinpoint Cleo's and Charlotte's relationship and understand when they started disliking one another and why, as in the beginning they both seemed to be making effort. Its just weird

Rewatching H2O S2
And my god Charlotte is such an effective villain and a great way to show how self insert characters can be the worst things imaginable if the characters remained in character.
Like literally she hits so many things you’d see in self inserts. She turns out to be related to the first mermaids, she’s got all three powers, she gets to date luis (briefly), she’s a talented artist who’s into the science nerd, and she’s got a bit of a temper that slips out the moment she gets power.
It’s so easy to switch the narrative and make Charlotte the main character if you were delusional.
Kinda like a Mary Sue but its in her head and everyone just looks at her like what are you doing. She even has this idea that she’s the better mermaid.
They also planned for Charlotte to be the villain since the beginning and the episode where she freaks out about Ronnie is the most telling lol. It’s like the oh look this person is totally the bad guy see how they bully a helpless animal.
no hate on self inserts they can be super fun but there are some that bend over backwards the existing characters and those are the fics im not into.
Also her actress is super talented to portray her in a way that makes me want to strangle a character so bad.

I can’t believe they would take the other two seasons of H20 off Netflix and only leave season one on there. Okay, I don’t actually care that they removed season three because it’s widely considered to be the worst one and I personally hate it and like to pretend it doesn’t exist. But season two? As much as I love season one, season two was peak television, absolutely blew my 9 year old mind. The drama. The intrigue. The plot. The mind games. The lore. Charlotte being the worst and therefore the best. Zikki in their best era. Insane lightning powers and firebending shit. That one episode with the beach volleyball showdown. You really had to be there. Children today who aren’t smart enough to google “H20 season 2 full episodes Dailymotion” will never get to experience it.

things in h2o that were only mentioned once that, in my opinion, should have been expanded upon
- lewis being clairvoyant in season 2. literally out of no where?? And it just never happens again?
-the siren effect
-ambergris
-the book that contained ancient mermaid secrets and allowed them to make that wishing green shit. then they lost it in the green shit and lewis didn’t just go get another one? to our knowledge it was a mass produced kids book and the fact they had evidence that proved at least one thing in there was true why would you not get another one?
-cleo being a canonic blood bender in the big chill
- the fact that cleo can make an infinite amount of water and therefore solve a huge issue we have of people not having safe or any water at all AND could end world hunger. but no let’s fight over a boy instead of doing that *twirls hair and kicks feet*
-ms. chatham saying no one has been on her boat in 23 years but her “husband” died only 15 years ago. was she lying about even having a husband? (those years probably aren’t exact but you get the idea)(also im implying she was in love with julia her ‘special friend’ fire and ice in every generation bitch)(also she wore a locket around her neck everyday for decades with a picture of her friend andgirlfriendcough, did we ever see one of this supposed man? No!!)
-in fish fever emma is turning into a fish monster and it’s correlated to hector and the coral. what would’ve happened if lewis didn’t get the anecdote? she would’ve been stuck as a sea monster forever? would other corals have different effects on them?
- lewis being held hostage. i’d like to have seen him dealing with the trauma and maybe even having doubts about his career choice bc he looked up to dr.denman so much
feel free to add any more!!

every weird grown adult with a bizarre or straight-up violent hate boner for this teenage character clearly written in a way that checks off nearly every box on the "misogynist writer" list so badly that the actress who played her got loads of hatemail for being the bad guy like. needs to think for a little while

i’ve literally NEVER understood why, when we first see will, he can’t get his boat started, Rikki asks where he’s going, he says Mako Island, AND SHE PROCEEDS TO TELL HIM EXACTLY HOW TO FIX HIS BOAT?? WHY ARE YOU LITERALLY HELPING HIM?
